Chapter 33: Grannies and Grampies
A/N: This chapter consists of Fabian's (the baby) POV. The grammar will be 'perfect' because he's not saying the things, he's thinking them. Enjoy.

Fabian's POV
I yawned as I woke up. I turned my head to the windows and immediately closed my eyes again. Just then, I heard someone open our room door. I looked.
"Hello, Fabes." It was Mum's voice. I smiled at her.
"Awww, look at you smile," she cooed. I reached my arms out at her as a sign to pick me up.
"You want me to pick you up?" she asked. "Alright," she added. She picked me up and took me downstairs.
"Morning." Dad said to Mum.
"Morning. Look who wants to see you," she said, shifting my weight in her arms. Sorry, I'm heavy, Mum. I smiled to myself.
"Hello, Jerome," said Dad, reaching out for me.
"Doofus, he's Fabian." Mum said, rolling her eyes and pulling me back to her chest. I wasn't mad – we were quite alike, after all.
I made a sound and reach out for Dad. He grinned and Mum smiled.
"Well at least Fabian doesn't take that as an offence," said Dad, cradling me in his arms. I reached out for his ear and pulled it.
"Ah, ow, Fabian!" Dad frowns as Mum burst into laughter.
"Ah, I see what he did there – he acted all friendly and then attacked you when you had your defence down," said Mum, still laughing as if her life depended on it.
"He's defiantly your son…" said Dad, catching on.
"Waaaaa!"
That's Nina.
"Oh, that must be Joy," said Mum, turning to the stairs. Fix a bottle for me, will you?" she added to Dad.
"Kay," said Dad, as he walked with me to the kitchen.
That's Nina, Mum.
As Dad finished fixing the bottle, Mum reappeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"Turns out it was Nina," she said, reaching out for the bottle Dad was holding up.
Told you so, Mum.
I look at Nina and made a sound – calling her. She looked at me.
Are you hungry, Nina? I expressed myself through actions.
Yea, I sure am… Nina replied. I smiled and watched Mum feed her. Adults never understood the 'secret language' of babies.
Patricia's POV
"Yes Mum, they're fine…" … "They're a bit overwhelming sometimes, but I'm coping okay." "Yes Mum, Eddie is helping…" "That's nice, okay, Mum, I gotta go, I think Alfie and Jerome are crying…" "Yes, yes, see you later, love you lots, bye."
I sighed as I but down the landline. No, the babies weren't crying – I don't really have a good relationship with my mum. She and my Dad are coming around later to see their grandchildren – I haven't seen my parents in over a year… I'm not sure if I'm ready for this today… Just then, Eddie makes his way downstairs with Joy in his arms.
"Parent problems?" he asks.
"Yup… they're coming around later…" I replied, shrugging.
"Oh… that'll be nice…"
"Stop, Eddie."
"Stop what?"
"You don't have to pretend like you like my parents. I don't like them either…" I made my point.
"How did you-"
"I'm never raising my kids the way they raised Piper and I," I said through gritted teeth.
"Hey, hey, calm down," Eddie said, taking a seat next to me and putting an arm round my shoulder with Joy in the other. I leaned on his shoulder and sighed heavily again.
Well this should be fun, I thought.
"Mum… Dad…" I said, opening the front door and letting them inside. As I was about to close the door, I heard another voice.
"Trixie, you gonna lock me out?"
"P-Piper?" I said, before opening the door.
"The one and only," she replied, before stepping inside and hugging me tight.
"Let go, you clone," I choked out.
"Nice way to greet me, 'Yacker'," Piper said, putting on an American accent for the 'Yacker' part.
Turns out my parents are staying at my place for a fortnight, great life of mine, great life… I turned out the lights and lay in bed, waiting for Eddie. He had gone to put the boys to bed – I had done the girls, but they pretty much fell asleep as soon as their heads hit their pillows.
"Hey," he said, coming into the bedroom.
"Took you long enough," I said, patting the empty side of the bed.
"Yea… Alfie wouldn't fall asleep…" he yawned and got into bed.
"Sleep tight," I said, turning to face the wall.
"Night Yacker," he said, kissing my cheek. I let out a sigh of peace as I fell asleep.
