Eddie's POV
"Hey Yacker, I was thinking we shou-" I began, walking into the kitchen.
"Oh, hey, Eddie." Patricia turned around from whatever she was doing. She was smiling, and she had said my actual name… Her hands were behind her back too.
"Um… what were you doing?" I asked, cocking my head to one side.
"Er… nothing. I was… um… texting?" she 'answered'.
"Oh really? And I was just talking to my sister," I said sarcastically.
"You don't have a sister…" she said.
"Exactly. I have your phone in my hand, clever," I said, smirking. "Now what were you up to?" I asked again, walking slowly towards her. She quickly shoved something in her pocket.
"Yacker?" I said, frowning and keeping a straight face. Normally, when she acts like this, I knew she was planning to do something to me, but no. Right now, I had a weird feeling in my gut that told me something wasn't right.
"Eddie, it's nothing. Now what was the thing you were about to tell me when you walked in here?" she said, clearly saying 'drop the subject, Eddie'.
"No, Patricia. Something isn't right. What did you just put in your pocket?" I said, suspicion hitting the side of my head.
"N-nothing."
"Patricia Williamson, stuttering?" I questioned. "C'mon, you know you can tell me…"
"Drop it, Eddie. Make yourself useful and go put Amber's dummy back in her mouth," she said, leaning to one side to see ahead of me.
"Dummy?" I asked.
"Pacifier. Whatever."
"…"
"Go!" she said, pointing.
"No. Not 'till you tell me what you just shoved in your pocket."
"For goodness sake, Eddie, it was a box of Tic-Tacks," she said, pulling out the box. It didn't seem real to me.
"Well, surely then, I can have one…" I said, taking the box from her and taking one out. I was about to put it in my mouth – the candy was a centimetre away from my tongue, when…
She slapped my hand, hard, causing the candy to fall to the floor.
"Hey… what you do that for?" I asked, frowning.
"It's… nothing. Go put the pacifier in her mouth before she starts crying, please?" she asked.
"Sure," I said, walking towards Amber.
I knew not to push her buttons.
I smelt a rat, and boy, it was nasty…
Patricia's POV
He nearly found out! He can't find out. No matter what. No. He can't.
"Can you please pass the salt?" Eddie asked, his hand, dangling in the air.
"Oh um, sure…" I reached for the salt and gave it to him.
He accidently grabbed my hand in the process.
"Sorry," he muttered smiling. I smiled back.
His face suddenly frowned.
"Yacker, your losing weight incredibly fast…" he stared at me with a questioning face.
"Um… so are you… I mean, we have six children… it's what they do to you… you know… not having enough sleep and everything…" I smiled big to make it believable… that was a stupid thing to do.
"Oh… um… well you should eat more, then. I don't want a skeleton wife!" he joked, laughing. To be honest, I didn't find that funny at all, but for the sake of getting him off of my back, I laughed along.
Just before bed, I took out my things again opened the box to take one out. I looked around cautiously in case Eddie was lurking around somewhere, but coast clear. I popped it into my mouth and raised the glass of water next to me to help swallow the thing.
"Hey Yacker?"
Startled by his voice, I jumped, making the things spill all over on the floor.
"E-E-Eddie…" My eyes were as big as my open mouth.
"That's it, Patricia, what the hell were you doing?" Eddie sounded upset, hell, even angry.
And when this doofus gets angry, things aren't pretty…
