Second Quarter: 24 hours

Pairing: AkaxFem!Kuro.

Kuroko Tetsumi wakes up to a brand new day. The sun shines brightly, illuminating her long shocks of teal hair. The girl blinked her sleepy eyes open.

Today will be a great day.

'Tetsumi, I lo-'She hopes that she could finally give a name to that mysterious voice that is always ringing on her mind.

That voice seems strangely familiar.

LB

Dressing up quickly, the tealhead headed down the stairs to greet her grandmother who was busy preparing breakfast for her.

"Ah, Obaa-san, you don't need to prepare my breakfast every day. I ca-" She was cut off when the old woman laughed.

"Nonsense Tet-chan, I enjoy cooking and you know that."

"But still, yo-" A plate filled to the brim with appetizing food was placed infront of her. "Itadakimasu."

The woman smiled "Eat well, Tet-chan."

"Yes, Obaa-san"

Oblivious to her surroundings as she was trying to find a way to not finish all the food that was in front of her without offending her grandmother, Kuroko failed to notice how the woman's smile turned to a sad one.

Upon entering the premises of Tokyo University, Kuroko Tetsumi was immediately greeted by familiar faces.

"Kurokocchiiii~~!"

"Tetsu!"

"Tetsu-chaaan!"

"Ah, good morning, Momoi-san, Aomine-kun" The tealhead ended with a polite bow.

"Eh?! Why am I left out? Hidoo!" The blonde we know as Kise Ryouta cried.

"Nee, Tetsu, no need to be so polite, ya know!" As usual, Aomine Daiki ignored the blonde.

"Good morning to you too Tetsu-chan! Saa, let's go to class. You have first period with me right?" Momoi Satsuki cheerfully replied as she grabbed the tealhead's arm to drag her to their classroom.

"Geez, that woman always does that, never letting me talk to Tetsu a bit longer" The tanned man complained as he too, made his way towards his classroom.

"Aominecchi! We have first period together too right? Wait for me-ssu!" Breaking into a run, Kise tried to catch up with Aomine, who was already halfway through the long hallway of their university.

They both stopped however when they saw a familiar mop of vibrant red hair approaching the two women that they are with just earlier.

Kise was the first to react. "Ah, Akashicchi is still?" Glancing at the tanned man who he finally caught up to.

"Obviously, he doesn't know when to give up after all" Being through this for such a long time now, Aomine understands Kise's silent question.

"I hope that Kurokocchi wou-"The ringing of the bell interrupted whatever the blonde model would say next.

"I hope too, c'mon Kise, let's go to class."

Glancing one last time at the spot where he last saw the tealhead, Kise's eyes gradually saddened at the sight of the man with the red hair gently guiding Kuroko Tetsumi inside their classroom.

Silently praying for the two to be okay, the blonde finally turned around to see an empty space in place of his tanned classmate.

"Aominecchi?! Why is everyone so mean?!"

He should add for him to be stopped being bullied to his prayers next time.

"Good Morning." An outstretched slender hand entered Kuroko's vision; she traced the owner of the hand until she was met with the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen in her entire life. Red, bright ruby red, she feels as if she had seen them somewhere before... it felt strangely familiar.

Baby blue orbs blinked as the lips of the red eyed man lifted upwards.

"My name is Akashi Seijuurou, pleased to meet you." The tealhead still stared as she drank in the sight of the man who managed to notice her despite of her apparent lack of presence.

Everything about him is so familiar yet so foreign at the same time, from his velvety voice, to his almost perfect name, to his handsome face, to his slightly small stature, to the gentle smile placed on those perfect lips, to those eyes that feels like it can see every little detail and lastly to that vibrant flaming red hair that shines and is styled just right.

Indeed, the man in front of her was near perfect but still, the nagging feeling that she had met him before still won't leave.

"Miss?" Hearing that voice again snapped the girl of out her thoughts.

"Ah yes." Giving the still outstretched hand a firm yet brief handshake, the girl introduced herself. "My name is Kuroko Tetsumi, it is a pleasure to meet you too, Akashi-san"

Akashi's smile widens at that. "Just Akashi is enough, no need for formalities. You can call me Seijuurou too if you like."

"Then you should call me Tetsumi, only if that is what you want to. Akash- I mean, Seijuurou-kun" She is not used to calling someone she just met impolitely but since it is what the redhead wants then she has no choice but to comply.

The redhead pretended to think about it. "Hmm... Tetsumi it is then, I... no, nevermind."

That subtle hesitancy made Kuroko stare right into those alluring heterochromatic eyes and as she expected, she can't see nothing but a strictly guarded expression in them.

"Is the-"As if on cue, the bell rang; signalling the start of first period.

A hand was placed on the girl's lower back as she was gently ushered inside the classroom by the mysterious redhead.

She was too busy thinking why the redhead seems so familiar despite the fact they had just met today, that she didn't notice her pink haired companion is nowhere to be found.

Halfway through the class, Kuroko finally noticed that her supposedly pink haired classmate is missing ever since she had talked to the redhead now sitting next to her.

"Ah Tetsumi, you should use this formula instead." The redhead leaned over to have a better view of the girl's half finished work as he wrote complex arithmetic equations on her paper.

"That's the wrong formula, you should use this one instead" Someone with a familiar tuft of red hair leaned over to assess her progress. The two of them appeared to be studying at a library.

There is that voice again, she covered her eyes with one hand as she tried to gently massage her head with the other to get rid of the splitting headache that came right after she remembered a piece of her memory that she didn't know she forgotten. The face of the boy was blurry and all she can see is a pair of red eyes and matching red hair.

She struggled to remember something, anything about that red haired boy but to no avail; it only made her headache worst.

"Tetsumi, are you okay?" The redhead gently pried her hand away from the girl's face to take a closer look.

"Are you absolutely sure you're okay?" The boy gently leaned her tired body to his, warmth spread through her as the security she felt inside the boy's arms lulled her to sleep.

"Do you do that often?" That unexpected question turned the tealhead's attention back to the still close redhead. Leaving her insignificant thoughts behind, the girl suddenly became conscious at how the redhead's handsome face is just centimetres apart from hers.

Slightly backing away from the redhead, Kuroko tried to regain her composure as she titled her head in confusion at the other's question.

"Pardon me, what exactly is 'that' Seijuurou-kun?" She tried to keep her tone flat as she held back a wince when the pain in her head worsened.

"Spacing out like that, anyways, that is unimportant right now." Akashi grabbed the tealhead's arm as he raised his own to catch their professor's attention.

"Pardon me for interrupting sir, but may Kuroko Tetsumi and I be excused? She is not feeling quite well you see."

As if already used to this, the professor nodded. "Go on, you two are excused."

"Thank you sir" The redhead briefly bowed before turning back to the girl beside him.

"Hand me your bag please." The girl quietly did as she was told before she was guided out of the room by the redhead who had not released his hold on her arm ever since.

After instructing the redhead on what to do, the school nurse hurriedly left the infirmary. There had been a impromptu faculty meeting

Akashi quietly made his way to the still sleeping tealhead, gently poking her cheek to stir her awake.

Baby blue eyes sleepily opened; letting out a yawn, the girl sat up as she glanced at the clock in front of her.

10 minutes till lunch, so she slept for about three hours. She blinked before covering her mouth the stifle yet another yawn.

Amused eyes stared at her as he stealthily placed his hand on top of the still sleepy girl's head to flatten her wild locks of teal hair.

It is still amusing to see her hair sticking out like this. Unknowingly, the redhead chuckled at the thought.

Kuroko was quiet the whole time the redhead worked to flatten her locks, if not for the occasional yawning, he would have thought that she already fell back to sleep. The way that the girl looks like she desperately wants to go back to sleep made the redhead feel a tinge of guilt for waking up her up, despite knowing that he has to.

"Can you stand? The nurse already permitted you to go home." Akashi took a few steps back to let the tealhead stand.

"Hai. I'm sorry if I had you take care of me Seijuurou-kun." Giving a polite bow the girl continued. "You can go back to class now, thank you. I can go home by myself." The redhead looks like the studious type so she knows that he doesn't want to skip class.

Surprisingly, the redhead wordlessly took her bag as he made his way towards the door.

"I feel like skipping today."

Giving one last look at the tealhead over his shoulders, Akashi left the infirmary with both of their bags secured in his hands.

Kuroko gave up, trying to figure out the enigma that is Akashi Seijuurou is too difficult for her.

"Please wait for a while."

Akashi instructed as he entered an unfamiliar café.

The tealhead just blinked as she patiently waits for the redhead to come out.

About a minute or so, the man finally came out with something on his hand.

"Here. Your favourite right?" A cup of heavenly vanilla milkshake was handed to her.

"Yes, but how would yo-"

"Here Tetsumi, your favourite." A cup was gently placed on her hand as she looks up to smile at the boy.

"Thank you S-"

'That again… Why can't I remember his face...?'

"It would be warm if you just stared at it instead of drinking it you know" The amused voice shook her out of her thoughts.

"Hai. I'm sorry; I just have a lot of things on my mind. Thank you for the drink, Seijuurou-kun. It is indeed my favourite."

A thoughtful look passed the redhead's face for a second before it went back to its original passive one.

"Come with me. I want to show you something."

Akashi gently grabbed Kuroko's hand as he led the both of them to the place where everything will be fine.

He hopes that this will be the last time though.

But it never happened right?

While on their way, the tealhead noticed a little girl who is about 5 years old, crying on the streets.

Quickly letting go of the redhead's hand, she made her way to the girl. As she was about to ask the girl what the problem is, she heard a quiet whimper. Looking up, she figured out why the little girl was crying.

A puppy was whimpering as it was stuck in the tree a little foot above Kuroko. Not minding how bizarre it was for a puppy to be actually stuck on a tree, she immediately thought a way to save the poor guy.

Luckily, as she examines the tree, she found out that the tree is not that hard to climb and it being not that tall would make it easier.

With a newfound determination, she started to climb the tree only to slip halfway.

Closing her eyes as she waited for the impact, she failed to see a familiar redhead quickly making his way to catch her.

Instead of the cold concrete that she expected to feel, the tealhead was surprised to feel warm arms catching her fall. It felt strangely familiar.

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?!" Opening her eyes, she saw Akashi, a little breathless as he held her in her arms. In the background, she saw the little girl smiling as she held the puppy in her hands. Thanking them both

Sending a quick 'you're welcome' as the girl scampered off, she faced the upset redhead.

"I was just trying to-"She was about to explain her reason, feeling that the redhead who looks so calm can completely understand her

"What if I wasn't there to catch you? You could've died!"

"I'm sorry, I was just trying to help."

"Help? When you magnificently slipped and fell after climbing it half way? You will just be a nuisance."

"But the girl was crying and I-"

"Do you really think that you could help her with your current state? How foolish can you be?!" Seeing as the oh so calm Akashi was currently missing, the tealhead decided to fight back. His words hurt quite a bit.

"A fall from that height wouldn't kill me! Why are you so concerned about me anyway?! We've just met! Let me go please." She didn't mean to be this rude but it was the redhead who started it.

Feeling that the redhead wouldn't reply, Kuroko quickly maneuvered her way out of the redhead's grasp. Giving the frozen redhead a quick glance, she hurriedly made her way home.

"Why are you so concerned about me anyway?! We've just met! Let me go please."

"Why are you so concerned about me anyway?! We've just met!"

"We've just met!"

"JUST MET!"

Those words had immobilized the redhead for a second. A sad smile appearing on his lips as he watched the girl run away from him.

'Just met? Oh, how wrong you are Tetsumi…'

Donning that indifferent mask of his yet again, he followed the tealhead.

Thinking that she was far from where the redhead is, the tealhead quickly made her way to one of the benches to rest and regain her stamina.

"Tetsumi."

Apparently, she thought wrong."

Sending the coldest stare that she could muster, she replied with a flat tone. "What do you want now, Akashi-san?"

"What do you want now?" She directed her glare to the boy who snatched her novel away from her.

"Nothing, just your attention is all." Those all too familiar lips smirked.

"Hm, you have it. Now, give me back my book." The words said may be cold but on contrary, a heart-warming smile was present on her lips.

"Later."

"No fair…"

"Akashi-san? That's too cold even for you, Tetsumi." Akashi just had the gall to chuckle as if everything's fine and what happened earlier didn't really happen.

"It's not, we're not that close after all."

The redhead chuckled again before replying, "Then, I guess the name Sei-kun would be familiar to you if I'm correct?"

"…Sei-kun…?" His words are starting to confuse her and she is sure that she doesn't know anyone with the name 'Sei-kun'

"Yes Tetsumi."

Then it hit her.

Sei-kun, was her childhood friend, her sweetheart, the one who stood with her through everything, the redhead that was in her fragmented memories, the one she loved and will always love, the same man that is standing before her.

"Sei-kun. Sei-kun!" Without waiting for a reply, she threw herself into the waiting arms of Akashi Seijuurou.

'Sei-kun, this warmth, my Sei-kun is back, but why, how can I forget about him?' Tears were starting to gather from her eyes, this was new, for she was always known for keeping her poker face at all times.

"How? Why would I even forget about you Sei-kun?" She asked as she buried her face into the redhead's warm neck.

The said man just tightened his grip before letting go to look at the girl in his arms.

"When we went horseback riding back then, you were involved in an accident when the horse that you were riding suddenly panicked, I don't know what happened and I was not fast enough to save you. I'm sorry Tetsumi, I really am." A teardrop fell from the almighty Akashi as he reminisced that fateful day.

"Sei-kun! Let's have a race!" An excited tealhead challenged her redhead companion as she instructed her horse to make her way to him.

"I know you're excited Tetsumi but you should really learn the basics first." There, riding his ever regal white horse, the ever serious Akashi reprimanded.

"They're too boring."

"Yes they are but it is necessary."

"Why can't I be like you?" She didn't mean to pout but it is kinda unfair

"I beg your pardon?"

"You're great at everything you do, even if it's your first time in doing that. It's not fair."

The redhead just chuckled.

"Let's go horsey, before that gaki's head becomes even bigger."

All she heard was Akashi laughing as she kicked the side of her horse.

She may have kicked a bit harder because the horse is running faster than she wants it too.

She started to panic as the horse showed no signs of stopping.

Akashi, noticing the alarmed expression on his Tetsumi's face, started to run after her, gently kicking his horse to gain more speed so that he could catch up with her.

"Tetsumi! What's happening?"

Noticing the redhead just a few meters away from her, she kicked the horse's side with all her strength, thinking that this will stop it from running.

But the horse just raised its fore legs as it threw her out of its back.

She can't remember anything after that

Suddenly remembering the cause of her accident and her amnesia Kuroko just gathered the redhead in her arms again, pressing butterfly kisses on his face as she tried to calm him and herself down.

It was really surprising to know that the stranger you've met earlier is actually a big part of your life.

"Sei-kun, it's okay. It was not your fault." Knowing that the redhead still thinks that the accident was his fault, the tealhead tried to coax him yet the redhead's face still remains buried in her neck

"It's okay. I'm here now, I remember everything now. It was not your fault. I love you Sei-kun."

Upon hearing those three words, the redhead unburied his face from her neck.

Placing a gentle kiss on the tealhead's lips, he whispered. "Thank you."

"How long has it been since then?" The tealhead further leaned her head on Akashi's shoulder as she asked.

The two of them are currently sitting at the edge of the stream near their school.

It was their secret place or some sorts.

"Two years, we're in our third year in the university now."

So the accident happened on their first year, what bothers her is the fact that Akashi waited for two years before finally making her remember him.

"Why only now then? Why make me remember this only now?"

The redhead didn't answer.

"Sei-kun?" She looked up only to see the most pained expression she ever saw in Akashi's face.

"I tried, I try every day Tetsumi."

"What…?"

"I've been doing this for the past two years now."

'What is he talking about?'

"The accident, you acquired a quite exceptional illness from it. As your doctor said, your brain took so much damage that you were in comma for four months."

"Sei-kun, what are you talking about? Illness? I'm perfectly fine aren't I?"

"No you're not, as I've said, it is an exceptional one. Apparently, you're memory about me can only last for a day or as long as you don't sleep."

It's as if a bucket of cold water was thrown in her back. She was speechless.

"I've been doing this every day for two years now Tetsumi, doing the things that we usually do to make you remember me and mentioning the 'Sei-kun' to speed up the process, you will eventually remember me though only to treat me like a total stranger the next day."

She can't stop the tears flowing from her eyes. Why us? She can't help but ask. Why of all people must her precious, gentle and kind Sei-kun suffer from all of this.

This was not fair, she needed to stop this.

"Why waste your time Sei-kun?" She looked at Akashi straight in the eye.

"Because I-"

"You need to stop Sei-kun, two years I believe, is enough"

"Even if it takes me a whole lifetime, you can't tell me to stop."

That determination of his only makes separation harder to do.

"You can't keep on wasting your time on someone who had their time stopped Sei-kun, I… wouldn't like to hurt you every day." She wiped her tears away but the redhead gently prided her hands to wipe the tears away himself.

"You may hurt me but what is it that to falling in love with you again every day? I get to know you again and I get love you all the more each day Tetsumi. You know that you're the only one that I will ever want, nothing will change that."

"But you can do better, there are a lot of pretty girls out there wh-"She was cut off by a deep kiss.

"I don't care. I want you, only you."

Tears escaped yet again only for the redhead to gently wipe them away.

Wrapping her arms around the redhead as tight as she could, she kept on repeating words of love.

It made the man smile, a genuine smile for the first time this day.

They spent the rest of the day talking about the things that she missed during those two years.

When the night came, Akashi released the tealhead to announce that it's time to go home.

"Sei-kun, I don't want to go home, I don't want to sleep."

Akashi merely looked at her gently; maybe this isn't the first time that she had said this.

"I wouldn't sleep. I would still remember you tomorrow if I didn't right?"

The man said nothing as he embraced her.

"Let's get you home Tetsumi, your grandmother might be worried."

"But I don't want to go home, I want to stay with you. Always"

"You'll see me tomorrow."

"But there is a 100% chance that I won't even remember you."

"Tetsumi, it's late. Let's get you home." The tone of the redhead leaves no room for argument.

"But I don't want to forget you again Sei-kun, I love Sei-kun."

A kiss and another and another.

The two only parted as the tealhead is close to running out of breath.

"You'll see me tomorrow Tetsumi, I promise."

"But-"

Another kiss.

"No buts, let's go home?"

She can only nod.

As midnight came, a certain tealhead lays on her bed, trying her best to fight sleep.

'It's the least I can do for Sei-kun. I will make sure to remember him tomorrow.'

But as hard as she tries, she can really fight the drowsiness that is starting to consume her whole being.

As she finally succumbed to sleep, the final thought on her mind is that she will remember him tomorrow.
