Chapter 6- Secret

My brother and I always told each other everything. We have this connection that most other sibilings don't have. If we don't tell each other secrets it's like the world will end! So we always told each other everything.
My brother's name is Eros. But we call him King. He means the world to me.
I'm not even sure what caused my tail to come. Maybe I was always meant to be a mermaid and the timing just had to be right. Whatever the case is, I got my tail.
When I got my tail I knew King wouldn't understand. I mean he's a 15 year old boy! And I'm a girl! Why would he understand my tail? He would call me a freak if he knew. Then things would be awkward around him. I didn't want to ruin my relationship with my brother over this tiny little detail.
So I kept it a secret for as long as I could. But you don't realize how hard it is to keep a tail a secret until you have to keep it a secret.
But one day everything changed. I saw a side of King that I never thought I would see.
We were eating lunch. Our mother and father were out shopping and decided to leave us home because we had slept through them yelling for us to get up. They finally gave up and left us home with a quick note telling us where they would be and about what time they would be home.
"Can you pass the tea?" King asked me, I nodded and filled my glass, passing it over to him. As I handed it to him, he dropped it on the table infront of him. Tea spilled all over his clothes. He growled and shot up out of his seat and ran to the bathroom down the hall.
I jumped up and began heating the liquid up. It quickly disappeared and I ran after King. I opened the door to the bathroom.
"It's okay, King! It was just a bit of tea. Don't be so shy!" I said as I looked down to find him with an orange tail.
"KING?!" I screamed.
