A/N: Yeah for cliffhangers, am I right? *crickets* Alright fine, but you're probably going to be mad again if you didn't like that cliffhanger because I'll take another cliffhanger for $400. You know like from Jeopardy? *crickets* Man, tough crowd. Anyways, my weirdness aside, enjoy the chapter! Side note: There's a reference to an old time-y phrase, the phrase being, bull in a China shop, in case some of my readers are too young to know.

"Riven", she said a bit louder, "there's something you should probably know and I guess now is the best time to tell you."

Riven could feel his hands go cold and felt the thin layer of moisture beginning to form on his palms. His heart beat faster until he felt like if it beat any faster it would be exploding out of his chest cavity.

She could see the worry build up in his eyes as she contemplated telling him everything or not. If they were going to ever work, he needed to know, but at the same time she really didn't want to tell him for fear of him getting upset. She knew him too well and this secret that she had would kill him, no, it would enrage the hell out of him to the point where he would be a stampeding bull, rampaging around the China shop for no reason and destroying everything in his path.

"What is it?" his voice came out in almost a hushed whisper and despite having ultra-sensitive hearing, Musa had to lean in a little and strain her ears to be able to fully understand what had just come from his mouth.

Musa stood in silence, mind searching for what to tell him, weighing the pros and cons of telling him and not telling him. Not telling him would mean that they would start anew with a secret in the folds of her mind and telling him would mean that he might go crazy with anger and rage.

"Musa?" he asked again, his hand stroking her cheek once more. He could feel the hollowness of his stomach that came with his anxiety.

"Nevermind," she finally whispered. Her voice was soft and when he looked deep into her eyes he could tell that she was conflicted. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she was unable to look him straight in the eyes.

"Musa, you can tell me anything," he reassured her, removing his hand from her cheek and placing it on her shoulder. His hand was lying precariously on top so that if she shook it off, it would have no trouble tumbling down back to his side.

A while ago, Musa would have laughed, no hollered, at that statement, but now she could see a change in him. He was more willing to talk to her about his feelings and he was more open about who he was. She finally felt as if he was someone that she could really trust with her heart, but she wasn't so sure she had changed any. She was still closed and had a hard time letting someone in, though she supposed it was because of what he had originally done to her. Her eyebrows furrowed as she thought of the one big question on her mind: Can I forgive him for what he did?

The other worry was that he wouldn't forgive her if he found out the "thing" she had wanted to tell him, but couldn't or rather wouldn't.

"Really, it's nothing. I'm just," she paused and Riven saw her chest rise greatly before falling slowly, "confused."

"Why are you confused?" Riven asked.

Musa let out a mental sigh of relief as his attention had been diverted, for the moment anyways.

"I just don't understand how you could have changed so quickly I guess," she mumbled and brought her gaze down to the floor. She dug her toe into the hardwood, it had always been a nervous tick of hers.

"I changed because I knew deep down that that was the only way I would get you back," Riven replied, a smile creeping on his face, "when we were fighting those few days before Solaria and even at the bar, I couldn't help, but feel closer to you. All those feelings for you that I had buried began to come back up and I couldn't help but fall in love with you all over. I enjoyed that fighting. When we were together we could never tell each other how we really felt and that caused me to lose you. Instead, we'd fight and make up quickly afterwards. When we didn't make up after my infidelity I knew I had messed up big time and I, well I told you before, but I started blaming myself and then blaming you. That aside, I had missed you so much that the first time I saw you all of my feelings arose, the feelings I had tried to keep down for so long because I was embarrassed that I had caused you pain."

Musa listened silently and nodded her head, as if in understanding of what he was telling her.

"Anyways, that made me know that I needed to and wanted to change for you. I needed to be more open with you and that meant that I had to trust you. I've been afraid of trusting anyone my whole life, but I know that I can trust you," Riven finished.

Musa could feel the guilt fest in her abdomen. Her chest began to tighten and it was hard to take in a breath of air.

"Is there something wrong?" Riven asked.

"Riven, it wasn't nothing, it was something," she rambled.

"What do you mean?"

"I have to tell you something. You say that you trust me and I can't just betray your trust like that so instead I'm going to tell you," Musa took a deep breath.

"What is it?" Riven asked, concern strikingly obvious on his face. His eyebrows were furrowed and his lips had curved into a slight frown.

"After we broke up and granted we weren't together, but I still feel guilty. I was angry. I was hurt and I didn't give a damn anymore," Musa could feel the liquid begin to moisturize her eyes, "I didn't want anything to do with you anymore because I was so upset. I felt betrayed and I felt confused. I had no idea how you could do that to me and then on top of it tell me that much of it was my fault," Musa saw Riven flinch at the memory, but she continued on, "I wanted to hurt you, but I couldn't just go up to you and punch you. I couldn't yell at you either because we had already yelled at each other so much so I," Musa paused and sighed.

"You what?" Riven asked, a little more curious than upset.

"I went to a club," Musa stated, taking a deep breath before continuing on with her story.

She could feel the words catch in her throat and wasn't sure how to phrase anything. Her eyes were now draining the salty tears so they fell down her cheeks.

"You went to a club and what?" Riven prodded, wiping a few of the tears that were running down her face. He never wanted to see her cry again so her turmoil was killing him on the inside and he felt a sharp pang in his chest where his heart was located.

"Well I had some stuff to drink and you know that I normally don't drink because I can't metabolize it correctly. I was dancing on the floor when someone from our past showed up," Musa whispered, her voice soft and cracking with each word.

"Go on," Riven urged her, unable to wait any longer and the suspense ripping him apart from the inside out.

"It was Jared," Musa's voice cracked and a flood of tears came pouring from her eyes, "I was so angry at you that I thought I would get revenge on you. I don't really know how this would have counted for revenge since you would have not have found out, I hadn't planned on seeing you later in life. Anyways, I," she paused, her chest rising and falling slowly, "I slept with Jared."

Riven took a step back in surprise. He had figured that maybe they had kissed, groped a bit, but he never thought that Musa would have lowered herself to his standards. He never would have thought that she would sleep with someone out of revenge, nonetheless one of the people that he hated the most in his life.

"I'm sorry," Musa hung her head in shame. She noticed that he had taken a step back and silently cursed the dreadful one night stand that she had had out of her misery and anger.

Riven's mind was now the one that was racing. He felt his chest tighten. The muscles surrounding his rib cage began to spasm as her information sunk in.

"I just don't really know what to say," Riven mumbled, running his hand furiously through his hair.

Musa could feel the confusion and the hurt radiating off of him in large waves. It nearly knocked her off of her feet.

"I just didn't realize that you could do something like that," he said, his voice had a slight hint of sarcasm lacing it.

Her head shot up and she looked at him in the eyes. His lips were slightly curled up in a barely noticeable sneer.

"I was hurt and I didn't think I would see you again, much less consider giving you a second chance," she bit back. She was embarrassed and a little guilty, but it was far from her problem that he was upset about it. Her heart sank when she realized that her initial belief that he would be upset would be true. Granted, it always seemed like things never went her way.

"Yeah, but you lowered yourself to my standards!" he exclaimed, his hand running through his hair again.

"Your standards? Your standards? Are you kidding me? Your standards are you cheating on me with me walking in on you doing the deed," Musa rang back, sarcasm dripping in her voice and putting extra emphasis on "cheating".

"You slept with one of the people I hate in this world. He's a solid contender for most hated," Riven spat, his blood boiling. He wasn't even sure why he was mad because she was right, she was almost always right.

"No, that would be your ex-girlfriend Darcy," Musa sneered. She couldn't stand the fact that he was blaming her again. So she made that choice to sleep with Jared, at least she hadn't done it and hadn't thought of doing it while she was with Riven.

"That was low," Riven hissed, being reminded once more of the time when he had dated the witch from the Trix.

"So was you comparing what I did to what you did," Musa grimaced.

"You slept with Jared. He's my archrival Musa," Riven growled.

"Yeah well at least I remember his name."

"What is with you?" Riven scowled. Things had been going fine. He didn't even know why he was arguing. He truly couldn't figure out why he was arguing. He knew that she was right. That she should have been able to sleep with someone because they weren't together and he had done something far worse to her.

Musa let out a loud chuckle, the sound coming from deep within her abdomen.

"You've haven't changed one bit, have you? You claim that you have and yet you haven't. I can't believe you. You're so full of it," Musa couldn't help but laugh.

"I have changed. You haven't," Riven dug himself deeper into the hole that he was already in.

"Maybe I haven't, but I'm not alone," Musa shot back, anger seeping out through her voice. Her fists were clenched at her side and she couldn't begin to comprehend the fact that Riven was even trying to blame her for something so petty. She was far from over being worried that he would be angry and far from over being guilty because now she was pissed.

"I don't even know what to say to you. I just can't believe that you would sleep with someone because you were so upset. It's just very unlike you," Riven rolled his eyes.

"Just like cheating is very unlike you?" Musa couldn't help but let her lips curl up in a sneer.

"I did something wrong and I'll admit that, but you slept with someone that I hate with all of my being."

"We weren't even together! Not to mention this was when we weren't together and after you had broken my heart by cheating on me. You can't be that arrogant to try to be so angry that I had a one night stand outside of our relationship. You hurt me badly. You cheated on me and I got to see you humping someone else so don't you dare say that what I did was the same thing that you did," Musa warned.

Riven was at a loss for words. He honestly didn't know what to say to her. There was no way that he would be able to say anything that would make the situation any better. Besides, he was upset at himself for even getting them into that situation. He shouldn't have been as upset as he was about her sleeping with Jared because she was right, they weren't together and it had been after Riven himself had cheated and gotten caught red-handed. He was angry, but he wasn't even really angry at her, he was angrier at himself, but once again, like so many other times, he was taking his anger out on her.

"Leave," Musa hissed. She stormed towards the door that allowed entry into her apartment and opened it up wide.

"Go home and don't come back here. I won't be here even if you do come back here. From now on our truce and this mission is the only thing that will be connecting us. After the mission I want all ties with you cut. I'm sick of this push pull shit with us. I can't deal with it anymore. I don't want to hear that you've changed and then start to believe it when all of a sudden you pull the carpet out from underneath my feet and you go back to your old ways ago. I'll admit that I'm a little at fault too, but you can't just go around being angry for something that happened when our relationship was completely over. To think I was even thinking of forgiving you and letting you stay the night so you wouldn't have to travel," she chuckled maniacally to herself.

Riven's ears perked up when he heard that she was going to forgive him, going to let him stay the night. Suddenly he was broken out of the anger that he had felt earlier. Guilt and sadness began to fill the holes the anger had left. What anger was left was directed towards himself. He had yelled and screamed at her because she had turned to someone that he hated all because he had hurt her. He was mad at himself because he took his anger out on her all because of petty jealousy and not wanting to accept that he was at fault. His heart caved in and his spirits drooped as he walked towards the door.

"Musa," Riven whispered as he stopped beside her. He tried to meet her gaze, but she kept looking away from him.

She tried with all of her might to ignore the man that stood in front of her, but it was hard when she could feel all of his emotions and hear them screaming at her to change her mind. To go back on what she had said and to forgive him, but she couldn't bring herself to listen.

"Leave," her voice cracked and a waterfall of sorrowful tears slid down her face.

Riven's heart split in two as he saw that she was once again crying and this time it was because of him, again.

"I love you," his soft voice reached her ears as he stepped out of the apartment. She slammed the door once he was all the way out and with her back to the door slid down until she had collapsed on the floor, her head in her hands and tears continuously pouring out of her eyes.

On the other side of the door, Riven was sitting on the floor with his ear on the door, listening to the girl he loved cry her heart out. As he listened he could feel the pain of the guilt eating him from the inside out. He had been jealous, had gotten angry, had taken it out on her and to make matters worse he had reassured her that he had changed just before he did everything that he used to do. He closed his eyes as he replayed the whole argument out in his head, wincing every time he had done and said something stupid. She no longer wanted to see him unless it was absolutely necessary and he was in a deeper whole than the one he had started in. He couldn't fathom how he was going to get out of the mess he was currently in.

Sighing, he lifted himself off of the floor and unwillingly walked to the elevator, turning around to look at her door before getting on the elevator.

A/N: If that chapter was too confusing, please let me know because I was half asleep when I wrote this... Thanks!
