X~28~X

"Miki! The order for table nine is ready!" The loud piercing sound of a service bell being rung sounds painfully in the red head's ears. She cringes, muttering something bitterly under her breath. The girl beyond the counter in the kitchen continues to ring her bell loudly. "M-i-i-i-k-i-i-i-!"

"Coming Mayu." She says the name like an insult, glaring at the girl angrily.

"Oh sorry, I forgot you don't like the bell." She jokes bitterly, laughing while sneering. Mayu may be the restaurant's best cook, but she sure as hell isn't the nicest.

Miki turns, her long hair swishing behind her as she carries the silver tray over her head. On it are many small cakes, some dressed with frosting, others with assorted berry sauces. Two raspberry topped cakes and three banana cakes are on the plate, the banana cakes even drizzles with strips of dark chocolate, and the raspberry cakes sprinkled with white chocolate shavings. Also on the plate are two large glasses of orange juice and one large coffee without cream or sugar, full caffeinated. Lastly there is a large blueberry muffin and a salad with extra chopped leeks.

"Sheesh." Miki mutters, staring at the food. "Table nine…" She whispers to herself as she catches Oliver's eye as he is showing her younger sister how to play a game on his phone. Without Oliver to help Miki watch her younger sister, she would never be able to work at all, which means no money besides their mother's occasional post cards with some cash.

Yuki looks up from Oliver's dark blue touch screen phone, with a face wide and smiling. Miki waves with her free hand, opening the gate leading out to the dining room of the café with her foot, the buckles on her grey knee high boots rattling.

Her eyes travel to a table in the shadowy part of the café, hidden from the morning sunlight by a large tree just outside the window. A blonde girl with short choppy hair and a large white bow sits in a chair pulled away from the main table, leaning against the window, her eyes hidden by her right hand, which is busy gripping the bridge of her nose as she seems to mutter something to herself. Caught around her arms, but drooping of her shoulders is a worn brown wind breaker, her legs are dressed with black shorts, legs bare from there down to her ankles, which are covered by tall, and painful looking black lace up combat boots. Something about the girl peaks Miki's curiosity, but she forces herself to turn away, now watching the actual table as she approaches. An identical looking blonde haired boy sits at the table, his back facing the blonde girl, his eyes hidden by his own scrappy bangs. His hand rests on top of the head of a small girl with almost white hair. Sitting across from them is a teal haired girl with long pig tails and a black scarf.

"Here ya go! Order for table nine-" Miki's voice trails off after meeting the eyes of the boy. His deep crimson red eyes gleam back into Miki's, and she stands there with her mouth slightly agape with surprise. Her hands holding the silver platter begin to shake, just ever so slightly.

"I'm the coffee." The bitter looking girl in the corner grumbles, raising her head, showing crimson red eyes spitting venom.

Rin is the first to notice. The first to notice the girl's startled red eyes.

"IA!" A child's voice screeches from across the room, and Yuki comes bounding forward.

In her seat IA whips around, leaping up and standing in her chair she waves just as the sound of white dishes shattering and the clattering of a metal platter hitting the tile ground. Liquid sloshes through the air as Rin stands, watching their food tumble to the ground out of Miki's hand. Behind her Oliver meets the eyes of the angry blonde girl, catching her eyes, then her moves on, recognizing the red eyed little girl from the beach, just as Miki falls backwards on the floor, passed out.

"Yuki!" IA calls, leaping over the back of her chair, sending it crashing to the ground, causing even more people to watch the scene as the two little girls run up to each other.

"IA, wait-" Len yells after her as he stands.

"The hell happened here?" Oliver cuts in, staring at Miki's form on the floor in a puddle of orange juice.

"Why don't you tell me, eye patch?" Rin seethes, walking over to the curly haired blonde boy.

"Eye patch?" Oliver responds, raising his voice with bitter intent.

"Yeah, you, and sleeping freaking beauty."

"Watch your mouth blondie." Oliver warns, throwing Miki over his shoulder as other workers come rushing out with mops to clean up the mess and broken glass.

A shard of glass cracks under Rin's feet as she gets dangerously close to Oliver, narrowing her eyes and testing him.

"IA!" Len groans, trying to pull the girl away from Yuki as they ramble like the children they are, Yuki enthusiastically showing IA the dark blue phone and the games on it.

Miku finally stands, seeing that Oliver is struggling to hold up the red head. She cautiously approaches, taking Miki's other arm and wrapping it around her shoulder.

"What are you doing?" Oliver questions angrily.

"Well… this is our fault I guess… she did faint by us… and we kind-a threw her restaurant into chaos…" Miku responds with her usual kind but almost silent voice like wind.

"You don't owe him anything Miku, besides you can't carry someone twice your size, even with someone else. You're still healing after all." Rin says, noticing how Miku began to crumple after dropping the girl around her shoulder.

"Oh… sorry." Miku says as Rin shoves her back to take Miki's other side.

"Hey, you're eyes are-" Oliver starts, but is abruptly cut off by Rin.

"Let's not talk about that here. Gotta' place to drop this off?" Rin says, eyeing Len as he wanders over exasperated as IA still talks to Yuki from on top of his shoulders. The only way he could get IA to walk away was to pick her up and give her a ride on his shoulders, but even then the little girl named Yuki still followed them, chatting up a storm with IA, adding to the even more confusing chaos.

"Rin, what are you doing?" Len asks as IA accidently punches him in the face.

"Oops, sorry Lenny."

"Are you two twins or something?" Oliver asks, pointing back and forth between the two blonde kids.

"What does it look like, genius?" Rin spits back angrily.

"Miki, Oliver?!" A purple haired girl wearing a café uniform runs out of the back of the kitchen, wearing an expression of exasperated frustration and confusion.

"Relax Yukari, Miki just fainted. Give her the rest of the day, ok?" Oliver explains while starting towards the door with Rin.

"B-b-but-!" The glass door closing behind the odd group silences the purple haired girl inside, her protests only coming as muffled cries through the glass.

"Rin we seriously need to get out of here, now." Len tries to persuade her to leave while he simultaneously tries to pull IA away from Yuki, who is still talking.

"Bite me banana head." Rin retorts with no emotion as she continues to help the blonde boy with the eye patch carry the red head down the path and through a lush park.

"Rin!" Len yells angrily, but Rin continues to ignore him, while she still argues with Oliver over God knows what.

"Len…!" Miku shouts from quite a distance behind them, struggling to keep up. IA had an easier time regaining most of her strength, after all, she was the most willing to eat, and was the youngest, while Miku had a harder time and still doesn't have a lot of energy or stamina. Len doubles back, lifting IA down and shoving her gently forward, she continues talking to Yuki, like nothing ever happened while Len puts Miku's arm around his shoulder, helping her walk.

After about five minutes the group arrives at a small white beach side house, and Oliver leads them inside, dropping Miku carelessly on the brown leather couch facing a TV.

"Lemme' show you my room!" Yuki calls, grabbing IA's hand and rushing her up the stairs.

"IA, be careful!" Len yells after them.

"You better start talking eye patch." Rin starts to threaten before being grabbed by Len and pulled back.

"Look, this has been a huge misunderstanding and we're just gonna go once we get IA." Len explains.

"You mean that kid that I saw at the beach yesterday with Yuki? She belongs to you?" Oliver asks.

"Yeah she's uh- my uh, younger sister."

"She looks nothing like you." Oliver says, eyeing him curiously.

"Yeah thanks." Len says, turning to head up the stairs.

"Olie?" A muffled voice groans from the couch. Miki slowly sits up, holding her head in her hands. Soon her eyes fall on Rin's then to Miku's and her eyes again widen with terror. Immediately she leaps up from the couch, backing up against the far wall and pointing a shaking hand at the two. "Oh God… your eyes… you've lead them right to me!" She screams.
