The Fox Says Hi, part 1.
It was at night when Tooth flew into the living room at the 'pole and found North, Bunny and Sandy all spread out over the room, each of them with a large mug filled with what the Queen liked to call the 'beverage from hell'. Tooth's amethyst eyes narrowed when she saw the thick layer of cinnamon covered whipped cream over the chocolate milk, and she could practically smell the marshmallows melting away in the warm chocolate.
Crossing her arms the Tooth Fairy cleared her throat. "Enjoying your teeth murdering beverage, boys?"
All conversing came to a halt at the sound of her voice. North, Bunny and Sandy jumped in surprise before they all turned in her direction, scowling when they saw the small smile on the fairy's face.
Perhaps Jack hadn't gotten all his mischievous tricks and quirks from North.
"Oh relax, boys." Tooth laughed. "I'm not gonna try to get you to stop drinking that stuff. Although," she paused taping her chin with her index finger. "they are more teeth ruining than usual..."
"Eez new recipe, angel moy." North replied feeling a bit like a tattle tale. "Jack and his friends made it up."
Ah, the reason why she came to the living room. "Speaking of Jack, do you know where he is? I haven't seen him since yesterday." She knew Jack could handle himself just fine on his own, but Tooth would feel better if she knew where her Sweet Tooth was.
Jack knew this. That's why he always told her when he'd be gone for more than a day.
"I saw him this morning." Bunnymund answered with as shrug before grabbing his drink and settling back down again. Sandy to grabbed his mug again and resumed making sand images to continue the conversation.
North nodded in agreement. "Mal'ch'ik left around noon, saying he had to something to make up to with someone." With that said, the large Russian looked at Sandy to see the sand images. "No, no, Sandy." He replied to the images shaking his head. "It eez true. I saw with my very eyes!"
Tooth tuned the conversation out, wondering if she should be bothered by the fact that Jack hadn't told her where he was going. On the other hand-
The queen's thoughts were interrupted by two of her mini-fairies flying into the living room, both went to her, tweetering their new to their queen.
"She has plaque now?!" Tooth nearly screeched her fists clenching at her sides. Sighing, she let out a long breath forcing herself to relax. "Tell one of the attendants from sector C to put a toothbrush and a quarter under her pillow." She instructed. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go see if Jack's in his room." How had she forgotten to search for him there?
She didn't notice the two mini-fairies follow her. All of her fairies adored their prince, and if the chance came up to see him, who were they to pass.
Seconds later the two mini-fairies came back to the living room, flying as fast as their little wings could carry them. The ladies started flying circles around the three males' heads trying to gain their attention.
When they starte tugging at his beard North couldn't ignore them anymore.
"Alright, alright." North sighed letting them pull him up and lead him to Jack's room. Bunny and Sandy followed them out of curiosity.
They didn't see why they were supposed to go to Jack's room, not till they walked over to where Tooth was hovering, in front of the window, then they saw what was so important.
Jack was there, fast asleep on the window sill, but what got their was the girl asleep besides him, her cheek resting on Jack's shoulder.
They had all seen the girl before. When they had searched for Jack in Japan and found him in a forest picking up a girl for a midnight sleigh ride. This was the first time they saw her up close though.
Chika -all they knew about her was from what Jack and the other seasonals had told them, which was that she and Jack had been close friends for a good portion of Jack's 300 years without them and that at some point Jack started seeing her as more than a friend.
The girl's auburn curls was pulled up in a somewhat complicated looking bun, that now was bit messy, but that was probably because she was asleep and the guardians did not now how long it had been since the two teens had fallen asleep so she probably had bed-hair now.
Again Chika was in a blue kimono with pink flowers on it, a big white satch around her waist.
Her geta were a couple of feet away from them, surprisingly a pair of white ice skates lay on the floor closer to them.
"Way tah go, mate." Bunny suddenly broke the silence that had fallen over the startled guardians. The Easter Bunny snorted, he really hadn't expected Jack to bring a girl home when the boy left to make up for being a jerk. "Already bringing girls home, with ya."
Sandy silently laughed at that.
"Angel Moy?" North asked suddenly aware that Tooth hadn't moved or spoken at all since they had gotten in the room. "Are you alright."
Tooth didn't reply. Her eyes were on Chika, but she noticed something her male companions hadn't. The kitsune's mouth was slightly parted in her sleep and Tooth could actually get a look at the girl's teeth.
Chika's teeth were white, not pearly white like Jack's, but that wouldn't be a fair comparison. Her teeth would have been pretty average actually, were it not for the fangs.
No, they weren't canine fangs or the kind of fangs one would expect a vampire to have. Her lateral incisors were just a lot sharper than human ones. One wouldn't really notice the tiny fangs at first glance, but they didn't get past the Tooth Fairy.
Carefully Tooth reached forward, fully intending on touching those beauties and she would have if not for Bunny's quick reaction.
"Are ya bonkers!" The Easter Bunny quietly hissed, relieved that he managed to grab the fairy's wrist just one time. "Ya want to scare Jack's crush away?"
"But look at those adorable little fangs!" Tooth quietly protested.
Not quiet enough.
Jack opened his eyes, blinked twice before focusing on the group in front of him. "Mom?" He blinked in confusion when he saw the big smile on mother's face. "Guys?" Jack asked when he saw the large grin on Bunny's face. That grin couldn't mean anything good.
Last time Bunny grinned like that, the pooka had been teasing him about-
Suddenly Jack was very aware of the slight pressure against his shoulder. Already knowing what- or more like who he was going to find, the spirit of Winter glanced at his side.
His movements disturbed the sleeping girl who had been using him as her pillow.
Chika stirred "Sarani 5 pungo, Ojiichan..." She murmured snuggling her cheek against his shoulder.
Hearing her words caused Jack's eyes to widen. The spirit of Winter cringed "Oh man, Hakoto-sensei is going to kill me." He muttered.
Hazel eyes flew open when Chika heard Jack's voice. Blinking owlishly the kitsune sat up and took in her surroundings and the people around her.
With a mortified Jack Frost sittig besides her, a man made out of sand floating in front of her, a giant bunny-rabbit and huge man in red standing in front of her and not to mention the feathered woman with wings hovering alongside with them, Chika decided that she had the right to be confused.
"Jack-kun?"
And now everyone was looking at him, great. "Um..." Jack rubbed the back of neck trying to think of something to say, in the end he settled for. "Cleveland?"
"Ohayo." Chika automatically corrected, a small smile forming on her lips.
Someone cleared his throat and the two friends looked at their captive audience.
Jack chuckled. "Well, I suppose you all had to meet each other at some point..." Just not today cause today was a hard day for Chika and her grandfather, a hard day he had easily forgotten... "Guys, this is my best friend Chika Hakoto."
He glanced Chika who didn't look bothered by the circumstances under which he was introducing her, so he continue. "Chika this is my family." he gestured at Tooth. "My mom, the Tooth Fairy," he nodded at North. "my dad, Nicholas St. North." Jack then gestured at Bunny and Sandy. "And these are E. Aster Bunnymund and Sanderson Mansnoozie, my uncles."
Chika had gotten up during the introductions, straightened out her kimono and made a half-hearted attempt to make her hair look less... less like she'd just woken up.
She bowed to the four guardians. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She said, a friendly smile on her face. "I've heard a lot about you from Jack-kun."
Jack hoped his family would introduce themselves and then leave. That way things wouldn't embarrassing and he could then get Chika back to Japan, hopefully before her grandfather or worse... the leader of her clan leader found out she was out past curfew.
Of course that didn't happen.
Tooth happily clasped her hands together. "Oh it's so good to finally meet you! We've heard so much about you!" The fairy said, her wings moving rapidly. "Oh I have so many things I want to ask you! Why don't you come have a snack with us so we can talk?"
Chika tapped her chin with her index finger as she considered the invitation. It would be rude to decline plus these seemed like nice people, that were Jack's family and she really would like to get to know them... And well she already was in trouble with the clan leader, but her grandfather wouldn't really mind her being home late if she had a good explanation. So...
The kitsune smiled brightly. "I'd love to." She replied brushing a stand of auburn hair behind her ear. "It sounds like a lot of fun."
"This'll be fun." Bunny agreed sending Jack a teasing smirk.
In reply to that the teen just rolled his eyes.
This couldn't possibly be worse than dinner with his family and fellow seasonals. Right?
Author: If you're confused by the 'Cleveland, Ohayo' bit, I explained it in the chapter: The Unneeded Search Party.
I have a few things planned for the other half of this chapter, but not much, so if yo have something you want to see during it let me know and if I like the suggestion it will be added to the chapter.
