AN: Aha! Finally I get to say that I held to a promise I made to you guys.

I love this episode from Castle's perspective, so I decided to use this scene (After watching Beckett's sparring scene with Demming more times than I'd care to admit. Why is it so fascinating?) The scene I used here is super short, so I definitely embellished upon what I saw on Castle's face, and I hope you guys don't think I went too far.

As always, pretty pretty please review and tell me your thoughts. And enjoy!

Rick watched Beckett as she watched Demming walk away. Was she smiling?

"What?" She asked when she caught him watching her. As if she didn't already know. Did she?

"Nothing." Did that come out too quickly? It definitely came out too quickly. But Beckett was too damn preoccupied with Mr. Detective to even notice. All she did was smile and walk away.

Why wasn't she glaring at him suspiciously like she always did when she knew he was lying? Why didn't she know he was lying?

What did she see in this goon anyway? Sure, he was a detective (and he wouldn't let Beckett or Rick forget it), but was that really what she wanted? Someone exactly like herself? And how the hell did they meet?

Rick didn't have any answers to those questions, but he did know that he didn't like it. He was secure enough in himself to admit when he was jealous. And right now, he was very jealous.

It just didn't seem fair. He'd been working at Beckett for over a year now, getting to know her, changing not-so-small parts of himself for her. And still all he got was banter and admittedly some highly suspicious behavior where Ellie Monroe was concerned, but otherwise not so much as a sincere consideration on Beckett's part.

Demming, on the other hand, waltzes into the precinct and within seconds has her blushing and damn near twirling her hair! This was Brad The Puppy Saving Pin Up Boy all over again.

Rick let Beckett walk ahead of him for a few seconds, not caring that she'd eventually realize he wasn't by her side and start looking for him.

Would she though?

The question came unbidden and it made his heart contract.

Not too long ago he'd been her knight in shining armor, or at least as close to it as she would allow. He'd also decided he was serious about wanting something with her, and not just a debriefing.

So why, on the heels of this revelation, did he have to deal with Demming? He had enough going against him just with Beckett's trust issues and playboy image of him; he didn't need another man, who was a decidedly more natural pairing to Beckett, getting in the way. But it wasn't like he'd been given a choice.

Fine, he could admit that he didn't have any claim on her yet, but he was working so hard for her to just look at him. Just once he'd like to see her look at him the way he's been catching her look at Demming all damn day.

Beckett was obviously interested, so Rick would just have to try harder, be better. Yeah, that was going to go over well.

Rick shook the sarcasm out of his body and went to catch up with Beckett, trying to think of a better plan.

AN2: So, what do you guys think? Too far or no?

I'm working on the next few episodes (because they're getting really good and angsty now) so more to come soon.
