Chapter 4

"You're A Vampire?"

~...~

I opened my eyes to the lights coming through the large windows and I realized I was still lying on the floor. My head spun around and my whole body was aching, I winced. I sat on my knees, holding on to the wall beside. I felt something as I touched my temples, sure enough it was dry blood. Memories rushed from the past night and I cringed remembering Atem!

As if reading my mind, I was faced with him sitting on the couch, one leg resting on the other, as he was staring down at me with disgust.

"I thought you weren't waking up today." He chuckled slyly, taking the remote control in his hand and switching over the channels of TV.

I sent him a deadly glare that he scoffed about, before I tried to stand, feeling my legs twitching underneath me. I wanted to look strong and ignore the tire I felt and the spinning in my head since he was staring with interest at me.

"I thought you weren't getting any lower than this!" I challenged him. He snickered in response ignoring me as I slowly walked to sit on the couch opposite of him, sighing briefly with tire. He gave me a quick glance before smirking.

"I think you should clean the blood off your face. You don't look as hot as always." He mused.

I found myself shaking in rage unable to understand this creature. "You're sick!" I stumbled through my words and punched the coffee table in front of me.

"You've got a bit of temper, don't you?"

I pushed my lip into my teeth, fighting the impulse to scream. I had been vacillating during the last night about this whole ordeal. I should know something about him.

"Why did you kill your own grandpa? And why did you save me from hanging while you hate me this much?" I asked everything on my mind, not really expecting this ill-tempered creature to answer.

He stretched his arms, getting moans of relief. He was ignoring me again! My temper was sparked again and I swear I felt the inside of me burning.

"Are you listening!" I yelled impatiently. He glanced over me, his expression was serious now and devoid from any humor traces. His face was somber, but then his expression lightened a little bit as he looked me over, and he chuckled darkly.

I blinked in awe. What the hell was wrong with this person? "What could possibly be that funny, Atem?" As I finished the name, his lips were pressed into a hard line, all signs of humor gone. I gasped as he was now facing me with a deadly look. My eyes moved quickly from the couch he was sitting on and back to him. How? I was mystified. Did he fly or something?

Before I could move, he grabbed me from my hair making me scream with pain, but he ignored it, dragging me violently somewhere. I felt my head being thrown somewhere and then the sounds of water. I couldn't move since he was holding my hair firmly and pushing my head down what seemed like a sink.

"What the hell-" he threw my head into the water, and I felt it going into my mouth since I gasped. I tried to push him, my hands were moving everywhere and my legs were pushing him, flying up in the air as I felt I was drowning.

"Brrr..." Stupid voices were coming out from me as I struggled, water going up my nose and into my head and I felt an annoying burn sensation right into my head. Luckily, he got my head out the sink and I took a deep breath but I still couldn't finish it as he threw my head again in the water. I moved my head back and forth, my legs still pushing back and forth trying to stop him. What has gotten into him? I felt myself losing control and about to faint. My mind recalled the minute yesterday when I spoke his name and he punched me hard. So I'm dying now because I spoke his name again! I wanted to laugh humorlessly. There it is then... It's my end.

But I didn't die. He pulled my head back up from my hair and threw me on the ground. I gasped so hard, back and forth, filling my lungs with fresh air as I was on my knees now and my hands on the floor. My face pale and I felt so breathless. I felt more moisture on my face and knew I was crying and I didn't fight them like I did yesterday. I let them go down freely as I sobbed painfully, clenching my fists. I heard his footsteps and saw them stop in front of me.

I felt him kneel down to face me and I was glad my hair was dropped to conceal my face. I didn't want to look in his eyes, I felt so weak. But my hopes turned down when he smoothed my hair away and cupped my chin, raising my face up to look at him. His expression was unreadable but I could swear there was a glint of regret in his eyes.

"You're all cleaned up now." He smirked. My eyes were stirring in absolute anger and it felt that the heat coming from me should physically burn him. I rose up, shoving past him as I went to to my bedroom. I was surprised to see the walls all turned into black in all rooms.

"Do you like the new makeover? I did it myself.." My head snapped up to glare at him before I decided to ignore him, and got out a pink suitcase that grandpa bought for me. I grimaced at his memory, shutting my eyes tight for a brief second. That person was still staring at me I could feel his eyes digging through my back. I had to keep ignoring him. He was leaning against the door frame with that stupid smirk, I felt the heat of my anger burning me. You have to ignore him, Anzu. I told myself as I started to pack the clothes grandpa got me.

"Leaving somewhere Anzu?" He sounded innocent and I was literally at the edge of slapping him as my palms tingled. I tried to be crafty as I stared up at him.

"Yeah as a matter of fact I'm leaving."

He whistled. "Wow! Where?"

I bit my lip to maintain my anger. Man, he was colder than an ice bear if that was possible. He was acting all cool and calm like he's done nothing. I couldn't stand to stay one more minute with him. He walked to me as I was zipping the suitcase and pulled me by the arm.

"Anzu.." My name rolled out of his tongue like magic. I tried to ignore it. "You're mine, and you'll stay in this house for as long as I want."

I freed my arm giving him a sarcastic smile. "Heh, really?" I was about to drag the suitcase when he threw me hard against the closet making me cringe with pain. My back must be wounded from yesterday's fight. I'll make sure to do something with it when I get out from here. I felt my chin being cupped again before my eyes met Atem's ones.

"Back off!" I warned. The smirk was plastered there as usual as he moved down and took my lips in his. I shuddered; he was so skilled.

"You look so hot when you're mad." He made a shudder ran down my spine as he whispered, kissing me so hungrily. I tried to fight back the moan. Wait! was I really pleasured with his kisses?

He stopped, pulling apart, staring down at my nearly hypnotized face with an unreadable look.

"You have nowhere else to go to!"

I scoffed. "Heh, you wish! I have many other friends to stay with."

His touch on my arm tightened and I cringed. He looked amused, his smirk twitching upward like he's solved the world peace problem. Why did he act like that? He was really getting on my nerves.

"I'm leaving now. I recommend you to stay Anzu, or else..." Behind the smirk, I knew the threat was real. Since he was getting on my nerves, I felt like I've known something that gets on his nerves too.

"You won't find me when you come back, Atem." I felt my stomach flip when I spoke his name. His eyes were twitching, his fists balled up. I was expecting him to send me where he sent grandpa but he didn't. He just turned off his heels and left the room, disappearing into thin air.

Holly crow! How on earth does he do that?

~...~

Voices of footsteps erupted in the long corridor as Atem walked. Vampires were staring his way, standing on each sides as he passed by them, smirking maliciously. They were whispering in each other's minds and Atem, having the ability to hear other's thoughts, made him hear what they were talking.

"Look at the heartless, being a half vampire and yet he's the right hand to Blood." One said. Atem paid no attention as he closed his eyes, walking towards the office.

The lair as they referred to it was a big corporation in the center of Tokyo. No one knew this was a vampire place. Blood, the leader of all vampires has hired strong vampires to assassin people he didn't like or had personal problems with. The assassins had no words to say as they obey and kill silently. No one had the right to ask why. Well, no one but Atem.

Blood was an original which is a very highly specified vampire. The orginals were the ones that transformed the current vampires and they had pure blood unlike the others. Those vampires were rulers all around the world and were very powerful and impossible to kill. They have lots of special abilties that others don't have and can transform people to full vampires only. Also, a special ability was transforming half vampires into full ones.

A full vampire is a very strong vampire and has a pure blood too. He\she transforms people into half vampires only. It could be killed easier than an original but still it's a very strong one. Only a few of them worked as assassins and were chose for very hard missions that half ones couldn't do.

Half vampires were the lowest kind of vampires and Full vampires despised them with a passion. Those ones worked as assassins and were trying to win Blood's trust in order for him to turn them into full ones. Half vampires were strong, some of them had special abilities like full ones because their full vampier parents had that ability and they inherited it. They also were fast and smart but they were mistreated and mostly treated like servants. A good thing was they could walk in sunlight since they were half humans as well, unlike full ones who needed darkness to show up. This was their main disadvantage.

Atem was a half vampire but he was stronger than full ones. He was blood's right hand and was his favorite among all. Him and...

"Oh Bonsoir..." A voice came. Atem smirked nonchalantly rubbing his temples.

"Oh Seto!" He announced in an irritated voice.

Seto, a tall brunette guy with icy blue eyes, wearing black trousers and a tight black shirt with a long purple jacket appeared. A smirk twisting on his lips as he leaned on a wall.

"Come on you don't have to be that happy to see me, Yami." He sounded offended.

Atem gave him a weary look. "What are you doing here?"

"Same old same old. Another mission of course." He shrugged.

Atem raised his eyebrows in knowledge. "I wonder if its the same. I'm sick of him giving us the same mission!"

Seto groaned. "He wants to see us competing. Just like the full vampirness thing. Speaking of which, I heard you've brought another bitch to serve you."

Atem looked up at him chuckling darkly and Seto cocked an eyebrow at him. "I don't think it's your business if I did."

Seto shrugged carelessly. "Its not. My bitch is already here ready to be served to Blood. I just hope you're ready too."

Memories rushed into Atem's mind as he heard him call his girl a bitch and he tried to shrug them off, glaring at Seto.

"Don't worry, soon enough her blood will be on Blood's office and I'll become a full one." He finished with an evil smirk going into a fancy office.

Walking together through a long corridor, they reached a big room decorated in blood red painting, with two large windows overlooking the whole city, a big TV screen and a large office where a man with long silver hair, big crystal blue eyes and nicely shaped mouth and nose sat. He was very handsome wearing a black toxedo and pulling a cigarette out a cigarette box completely ignoring their presence. He put it between his forefinger and his middle finger then into his mouth delicately, lightening it, then exhaling some smoke.

"You know that we don't have all night Blood.." Atem exhaled in irritation. Blood looked up watching the two with a sly smirk while a man beside him gasped.

"How dare you disrespect the Master like that!" He told Atem.

"Enough!" Blood scolded his assistant, giving Atem a smile. "My apologies dear Yami, I've called you two to see what happened with the Marik thing."

"Nothing much, I've been searching and collecting info for some time now, but.." Seto stopped, "I heard they are trying to get Yami to join them." Blood had an interested look while Yami expertly dodged the thing.

"Heh, for all I know I'm staying here until I'm a full vampire."

Blood put on leg on the other, blowing off some smoke. "I'm ready. Bring me the girls and you'll be full vampires after I decide the winner." Atem turned on his heels and was finished from this meeting. He was sure that Blood didn't bring him here just for this thing, but oh well...

"Yami, what about the orphanage girl?" Blood inquired. Seto stared at the two and held back a gasp. He was never interested on spying on others. But Yami, was his rival, more like an enemy, and he needed to know some info about him. It was the girl that will make him a full vampire after all, so he had to know about his rival's progress. But wait, did he say orphanage girl? He closed his eyes briefly as the image of a certain brunette ran across his mind.

Atem felt unease by the look the two were giving him. How much he hated others to interfere in his business, especially now it was Anzu.

"Well depending on your silence it doesn't look good. I only hope it's not bad memories that this girl has brought. What was her name-"

Atem cut him off. "No bad memories at all. It's just family stuff and I finished them all." He assured cursing under his breath.

"Glad to hear that dear Yami." Blood's eyes shone with something that Atem didn't understand. He was sure however that they knew he was not telling the truth. But was glad that Blood could not read his mind.

~...~

Hfff. I huffed for the hundred time today. I was pacing back and forth in the living room still in a state of shock from everything that has happened so far. Unaware of that before, I realized that I have Mai's number and address. I could go and stay at her place!

"I want you to stay in this house!"

Suddenly, the phrase of grandpa echoed in my head. Did he know that he was going to be killed? Is that why he transferred his fortune to me? In order to make me stay in here and avenge his upcoming death. Oh lord, that's silly. I think if he knew he was about to die, he would've brought more guards, or told the police to save him from a potential threat. What is with that will? And who is that person Atem brought to be hanged? Why doesn't Atem want to be called by his name and why did he kill Sugoroku? Did he actually kill Sugoroku?! UGH, my head was about to blow!

To think of all this has made me hungry! And I realized that I haven't eaten for a whole week since they were starving me to admit in the fucking prison. I think I'll go check the refrigerator, have a sandwich or something.

Opening the refrigerator, my eyes widened. There were like dozens of blood bags, I couldn't think of anything as I felt something going up to my throat and I hurried to the bathroom, throwing up every little bit remaining inside of me.

What the hell was all that?! I shoved my hair back, gripping it tightly, feeling a massive headache. Something was totally not right in this house. The makeover, the blood in the fountain, the blood bags. The traces on grandpa's corpse.

As I was brushing my teeth, still thinking hard, I decided to leave it all out. I don't care if grandpa wanted me to stay, I just can't! This whole ordeal was absurd. I didn't even understand why Atem rescued me in the first place while he hated me as much.

I went back to the room, grabbing the remaining of my clothes before zipping the bag. I have to forget everything that happened here and just consider that I was adopted from an anonymous person.

"It's your favorite Jono!" I felt my heart literally jump up to my throat upon hearing this and I found myself frozen; totally unable to move an inch. "Anzu, where are ya goin'?!"

I turned around slowly to see the owner of the strange accent, only to see a dirty blond haired guy, with honey brown eyes wearing loose jeans and a white T-shirt, with a blue unbuttoned jacket.

To tell the truth, he looked pretty friendly and dumb actually. I let all signs of fear disappear as I scanned him from head to toe. Then realization hit me, did he call me Anzu?

"Who the hell are you? And how did you get here? More importantly how do you know my name?!" I shot all question quite crisply. I saw him rub his cheeks with a disappointed look.

"Eee, you don't remember me. It's me Jonouchi Katsuya. Did that ring a bell?"

"Should it?"

He let out a big sigh of disappointment. "Oh, forget about it!" He went to the kitchen with my eyes digging through his back. He didn't answer any of my questions. I clenched my teeth angrily, another stupid mysteries? Katsuya ha? Why do I find that name familiar?

Jono got out the kitchen, holding a big blood bag and I watched him with wide eyes as he put a straw in it and started to drink it. My stomach flipped with disgust as everything started to get clearer now.

"Oh I'm being rude, wanna have some?" He offered.

"Y-you are a vam-" I was stuttering, my eyes wider than a saucer as I pointed at him with disbelief.

"Yami didn't tell you we were vampires?" Jono asked me coolly and I held my head with my both hands feeling it about to blow.

"No I didn't." A voice from behind me said. "I was hoping she'd be smart enough to figure out but she looks dumber than you Jono! And I thought there can't be any dumber than you!" Atem laughed and so did Jonouchi as I switched my gaze between them with shock. They were saying that so coolly, so simply like they were talking about a game.

Indeed things were so gloomy and shocking that, without anyone even speaking, my head had begun to spin and my kneels buckled.

"Anzu!" I heard Jono yelling before I fell to the couch. Atem was staring indifferently at me while Jono seemed worried. "Are you okay?" He asked me.

"She's a stupid girl Jono, leave her alone!"

I felt my temper spark and I shot him a glare. "You're the only stupid here! Not only that but you're a criminal and a sick person Atem!" I wanted to lay all my anger and despair on him and I thought it worked seeing him gawking at me while Jono seemed to be shocked, putting a hand on his mouth.

"Its okay Yami, she didn't mean it!" Joey stood in front of me trying to defend me from the outrageous Atem. I couldn't understand why saying his name angered him that bad.

Atem pushed Jono aside, holding me up from the collar, digging his strong sharp nails, more like claws, under my skin. "I think I already ordered you not to call me with that!"

I was shaking with anger and found myself, despite of his unbelievable speed, able to slap him hard. "I'll always call you Atem because it's what grandpa said to me. And I believe him not you!"

Jono had his his mouth opened inexplicably, maybe since I had the guts to slap Atem in front of him, while Atem looked baffled, biting the inside of his cheek before he gave me one of the hardest slaps I've ever had, sending me meters away. Gladly, I was caught by Jono who happened to jump fast with opened arms.

"You know I took the slap purposely, wanting to see how strong you are. It's a shame to know how disabled are humans."

"Calm down Yami!" Jono told him, helping me up.

"I'm leaving this place so you wouldn't have more disabled people." I stopped at my tracks, another better idea flashing before me. "Or else.." I smiled lopsidedly. "You know that I'm the owner of this house and I can simply kick you out of here."

I watched as Jono thought about it for a minute before he continued siping on his blood bag almost making me throw up again. "It's not technically my house, so whatever."

Raising his eyebrow at me, Atem snickered in response. "How are you managing that?"

"I'll first ask you to leave the house, if you don't respond to that, I'll have to call the police and tell them to take care of you." Atem seemed to find humor in what I said, laughing uncontrollably. "What's so funny about it?"

Atem walked to me, pulling me to him as I struggled. "I love when you threaten me."

"I'll take this as a no, and go on to the next move."

He tilted my chin up. "Your smell is awesome!" He ignored my talk.

"I've noticed that too," Jono agreed, "her blood is making this bag in my hands seem like a soup. You probably would let me test you Anzu."

I cringed, unconsciously holding into Atem. Smirking, Atem tightened his grip on me, sending Jono a shivering glare that he cringed about.

"Stop sniffing Jono, or else.."

Jono let a nervous smile, as he scratched the back of his head. "Didn't mean it buddy. But really she almost smell like Blood."

Atem hummed as he nodded motionlessly. "This is the first time you say something true."

I felt so out of the topic, not really getting much of what they said. Unaware of me, I was still holding Atem and I let go of him, glaring while he seemed unaffected.

"Take my advice and forget about telling the police, or you'll be sorry and I mean it."

As hardheaded and stubborn as I was I couldn't talk the threat without a fight back. I had to prove to him that I'm not scared and I defiantly wasn't about to become his punching bag.

"Listen Atem," I put extra pressure on his name seeing him trembling with anger. "If you ever think that I'll be afraid of you, you're so damn wrong. I have nothing to lose,"

Atem had a murderess look on his face and Jono jumped in front of him holding his arm back. "Yamiiii!" He sounded scared. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Why are you even scared of him?" I yelled at Jono losing my patience. Jono answered by giving me some moves with his face that I didn't understand. However, Jono's struggles to keep Atem away were unsuccessful, seeing how he was suddenly standing behind me. My heart stopped and my feet were immobile.

"Listen here bitch," he rose my face backwards, almost breaking my neck.

"Don't you dare call me that!" I fought back, glaring up at him.

He answered by tilting my neck more getting a cry of pain from me. Jono watched in horror and he started to beg him to stop hurting me.

"Stop it you'll kill her!" He cried out.

"If you ever called me with that name I'll kill you!"

"Would you please kill me, Atem?" I challenged, knowing deep down that I've got nothing to lose. I've already lost Seto and Ai and then grandpa. There's nothing else for me to live for. "Kill me already!"

Atem had a blank look, his bangs concealing his face. Unbeknown to him, I let my head down since he loosened his grasp. Surprised as I was, I freed myself from him, going towards Jonouchi who kept me behind him in shielding position. Both of us stared at Atem who clearly had lots of emotions soaring inside of him. Clenching his hands, he walked past us, sending us -me specially- a growl that sent my heart to the bottom of my feet, getting upstairs in a fast jump.

Jono and I exchanged some looks unable to believe that Atem let me off the hook. It wasn't too late before we started hearing the voices of shattering.

Up in his room, voices of shattering were heard as Atem broke the headboard of the bed, destroyed the lights, shoved the perfumes to the floor. Panting, he broke the window, jumping out, moving so fast from a rooftop to another until his eyes landed on a girl strolling down the street. Upset and totally pissed off he felt and he needed to satisfy his pleasure. Jumping down, he allowed the girl to yell before he smirked, digging his teeth in the crook of her neck, sucking every little bit of her blood, enjoying her screams of pain and fear, until she fell on the street lifelessly.

Feeling that he satisfied his anger, he rested on a rooftop of skyscraper, staring down at the city. I can't stand being weak any more! I will not allow that girl to affect me. It was only past that I let go off long time ago. I won't let Anzu bring back old memories. I won't!

Chapter is finished. I know there are still some stuff you don't understand. But it'll get clearer each chapter.
