Chapter 8
"The kidnap."
Jonouchi gave Honda an awkward one arm hug that he responded to with the same awkwardness. Letting him in, he closed the door behind blowing out a huge breath.
"Nice house buddy!" Jonouchi admired, scanning through the large maroon painted living room with his eyes, whistling at the large TV screen that almost covered the entire wall. White neatly arranged sofas on a wooden floor with a rounded Crystal table in the middle of the room, on top of it was a very expensive looking vase with roses as the crystal chandelier hanged down lightening the whole room. In the end of the room was an american marble kitchen and next was a wooden staircase that had a nice violet carpet.
Honda stared weirdly at him before he remembered that Jono never actually visited him in this house. "Thanks." He awkwardly answered.
"It's been some years since we saw each other. Still looking good considering you're middle aged now!" Jonouchi finished laughing, only to earn a scowl from Honda.
"Jeez, I'm only like thirty nine Jonouchi!" He retorted throwing his body limply on the couch as Jono did the same. "You're still looking like I've last seen you. Not more than twenty years old." Honda noted.
"Well that's the advantage of vampires. You never get old." Jono flashed a smile.
"So, what brings you here?" Honda asked him carelessly, switching the TV on.
Jonouchi looked down, feeling rather sad than humiliated by the question. So he heaved a breath, passing his hand through his dirty blond hair. "I came to talk to you. I feel so troubled." He finished with a sigh.
"Why don't you talk with the monster who made you turn to a vampire?" Honda asked, not even looking at him. His eyes still fixed on the screen.
"Ugh! Not again Honda!" Jono burst. "I didn't come to talk about Yami. I came to talk to you because you're my friend."
"Was your friend.." He corrected, sternly eyeing him now. Jono pursed his lips together looking at Honda with a determined face before he clenched his eyes shut, standing up.
"You're right. I'm leavin'." He muttered, passing by the still sitting Honda.
"What is wrong?" Honda asked with a sigh.
"Anzu's back.." He whispered to him.
"Say what?" Honda gasped out in surprise, motioning Jono to the couch, pressing his palm against his forehead. "How did that happen? Atem or Yami or whatever threw her in the orphanage like eighteen years ago, didn't he?"
It was more of a surprised phrase than a question, however, Jono answered him with a nod. "Yep, but Sugoroku clearly had another thing to say to this."
Blinking his eyes to him in confusion, Jonouchi decided to give him more details. "Sugoroku died, you know that right?"
Honda nodded in affirmative. "I think I know who killed him as well." He muttered making Jono nod.
"Yes, Yami killed him. However, couple of weeks before he was killed, Sugoroku adopted Anzu and brought her to live with him. He gave her all his fortune to make her stay in the house. If she was to leave the house, she will lose the money. Not that Anzu is interested in money or anything since she tried to run away once but Yami got her back against her will and well, he raped her. Since then, she had been living with Yami and he will be killing her on his birthday to become a full vampire."
Jono watched as Honda had a shocked face, rubbing his temples to massage the aching pain that started out. "How did all this happen?"
Jono shrugged, slumping his head back on the couch as he looked up at the ceiling with an idle look. "Shizuka is with Seto and he will kill her as well to become a full vampire."
Honda's anger sparked and he found himself thudding the crystal table in front of him almost breaking it. Inhaling and exhaling sharply with absolute anger. "What the hell is wrong with their heads and with the way they think. What about this fucking full vampirness!"
"They have to give a sacrifice to Blood in order to become full vampires!"
"I don't give a shit! I'm talking about you; Why are you still helping that monster? He's killing Anzu and that Kaiba is killing your own damn sister! You should try to save them!" Honda yelled in outrage.
Jono rubbed his eyes in tire. "What do you expect me to do Honda? I'm no match to Yami!"
Honda sighed in frustration. Seeing how hopeless Jono looked made him angry. This was for sure not the guy he met long years ago. That was a confident, kick ass guy that helped his friends, rescued them, took care of them, and especially of his sister. Instead of him now there was a lazy, careless person that only followed up to someone without thinking of the consequences of it.
"There's a party tomorrow that 'your Blood' holds." Honda said, changing the subject.
Jono's eyes flew up in surprise. "Really?" Then a flick of realization hit him thinking that Shizuka will be there definitely with Kaiba. Oh god..
Noticing the gleam of sadness in his eyes, Honda picked up what his friend was thinking, sighing to himself. Either way, their feelings were alike. He was weeping over his sister's departure and her washed brain and, well, he was also weeping over his lover. Shizuka meant everything for Honda, he had loved her with all his heart, but she was in love with Yami.
~...~
I reached the porch of the mansion, sighing with absolute content. As I waved goodbye to Mai and Ryuji, a small smile played on my lips. It's been a while since I smiled full heartedly.
Walking through the door, I lied on the couch, thinking of what happened today. We took off from the morning with Ryuji to the orphanage to make the necessary stuff for adoption and of course Mrs. Mouri was shocked to see me, her eyes went wide like a saucer. But the best minute was when she called Ai to the office.
Flashback
The door burst open with Saki along with Ai, her beautiful long hair shining as her eyes looked up, coloring with amazement when they met my own. Without any hesitate, she threw herself at me, hugging me with her might. The smile never leaving her pretty face.
"Mommy!" She yelled in my ears and I giggled, flushing at the word. "I knew you were coming to get me!"
I stifled a gasp at her trust in me. Man, even I wasn't sure that I'm coming back. But despite that, I managed to nod with a smug look.
"Of course I was coming! I promised you now, didn't I?"
Ai's childish face was filled with joy as she buried her face in my neck. "Sure you did!"
Mrs. Mouri decided thankfully to give us some space as she left the office for us and asked us to take all the time we needed. Otogi went with her to discuss the wanted papers and stuff for the adoption as Mai ruffled Ai's silky hair.
"What about me hon? Don't I get a hug?" She cheekily smiled. Opening her arms for Ai who immediately went to them, hugging her tightly.
"Mai! It's been a long time!" She mumbled.
"Look at you!" Mai admired, twirling her around. "You've grown up so much kiddo, I almost didn't know you!"
Ai moved her hands behind her back, looking down with a flushed face making me and Mai laugh so hard at her cuteness.
"How is everyone treating you while I'm gone?"
Ai waved her hands at me. "Don't worry mommy. Sakura was taking good care of me, while the mean Leen was adopted shortly after you!"
Mai and I exchanged some baffled looks, totally surprised that she was adopted. "Who adopted her Ai?" Mai asked.
"Hmm..." She thought. "I don't know some weirdo lady called shuzu or something." I looked at Mai and she shrugged unknowingly as we decided to leave it to that. Hopefully, we'll never meet her again and that was good enough.
Scanning Ai's torn from the side dress, I got the bag I brought with me, motioning for her to come and sit beside me. She did quickly, jumping on the chair next to me.
"Guess what Mai and I brought to you?" I asked, seeing her shot her hand to her mouth in surprise.
"What?" She asked with excitement, jumping up and down on the chair. "Let me see! Let me see!" She insisted cutely.
"But first, I want you to promise not to be upset with me for not being able to take you today with me." I told her as a matter of fact.
Ai seemed to have lost some of her cheerfulness, a frown printed on her face. "You're not?"
"Um.." I thought.
"You see darling," Mai started. "There are some papers we need to do first before they let us take you. And it might take a couple of days to get them done." She explained, patting her shoulder. "So, until then, you'll promise your auntie Mai and of course mommy Anzu that you're going to behave. Okay?"
Ai seemed to think about it, looking at her lap, playing with her hands. "If I did behave, will I take the present?"
Mai and I exchanged some looks, holding back a giggle. "Well, since you're acting like a good girl I say let's give it to her now Anzu!" Mai winked at me as I pretended to think, seeing Ai's hopeful expression and puppy eyes look.
Sighing in fake defeat, I nodded. "Okay fine. I'll give it to you now!"
Ai squeaked with happiness, snatching the bag away from me as she got the present out. She gasped seeing a knee-length white dress with a red ribbon on the waist and a pair of matching white flip flops.
"Oh gosh! They are great!" She exclaimed, twirling in the office like a crazy. I sweat-dropped along with Mai.
"C'mon Ai, let me put them on you." I suggested, taking the dress away from her to make her come back to reality. Giggling nervously, Ai came to me as I took her torn dress off and put the new on, smoothing her silky hair as she admired herself in the mirror. Signs of amazement coloring her features.
"Mommy I love it!" She excitedly said.
"Great. Now promise me to wear it when I come back to get you in the next couple of days."
Ai gasped, looking at it. "Are you kidding me? I'm not taking it off, ever! I'll die wearing it!" She replied, checking herself in the mirror again as Mai and I smiled.
End of flashback.
I had to smile at the memory, shaking off my head. I've really missed this girl and thinking of her living with us again made me so excited. True she's not staying with me, but still we'll have so much fun.
The sounds of someone going down the staircase extracted my thoughts and I flipped my face around frantically seeing Atem with the most dangerous expression written on his face. I swallowed hard thinking of the worst.
"What were you doing at the orphanage?" He questioned sternly. I gulped at the way his eyes gawked at me; how the hell did he know about my trip there? Was he following me or something? But then I told myself that I shouldn't stutter or make him suspect anything.
"I was only visiting a friend of mine," it was right anyway so I felt kinda confident saying that.
"A boy or a girl?" I rose a brow at his question, feeling his eyes glint with something I've never seen before. Probably jealousy! I laughed at that thought.
"A girl." I assured seeing the stiffness in his shoulders relax a little bit. What the hell was wrong with this person?
He checked me up from head to toe making me feel so unease. He was totally up to something. But what was it? Did he possibly know about the adoption thing? Hey, why was I so nervous if he did? This fortune was technically mine and I can do whatever I want with it. On top of that, I wasn't adding pressure on him or annoying him, for Ai was not going to live here with us, to my dismay of course.
Just then, the front door was burst open by none other than Jono himself. I almost had a heart attack by the sudden entrance and I couldn't help but to yell at him.
"What's wrong with you? You scared the hell out of me! Don't you know of a button called the bell? Rather than that can't you just knock on the door?"
Jono stuck his tongue out. "Why would I knock if I could bang it open!"
I face-palmed myself as Atem was already sitting on the couch, watching some show about animals, as if he hadn't seen Jonouchi at all.
"There's a party held at the Four Seasons Hotel by Blood!" He exclaimed, going to the kitchen to pour himself some blood. Atem merely rose his head nodding carelessly.
"I know." He simply mumbled.
"A party for what exactly? Is your leader some kind of psycho?" I couldn't imagine the leader of vampires throwing a party for it seemed such ridiculous. I saw Atem smirk from the corner of my eyes as Jono answered.
"I don't know why Anzu, but Blood never does anything for useless. He must be aiming for something."
"Who is invited?" I asked.
"Us of course," this time Atem answered, "and some famous people, businessmen and stuff."
"He's really a psycho!" I gasped. "How is he inviting humans into a place full of vampires?"
Jono and Atem laughed at me as I blinked questioningly. "You're such an idiot Anzu! Vampires are well trained and even if they wanted to feed on a human, they do it silently and harmlessly." Atem explained with an insulting mocking and I glared at him.
"I can ask Mai to come with me, right Yami?" Jono jumped with happiness getting a stupid look from Atem.
"Yeah whatever!" He muttered and Jono clapped his hands in victory, holding a thumb up. I sweat-dropped, not really thinking Mai would accept the offer.
"Do you have a dress?" Atem slyly questioned.
I looked down at my clothes remembering when I went with grandpa to the mall. "No, I didn't buy anything formal." I answered vaguely.
"Fine, let's go then."
"Ha?" I opened my mouth in surprise checking the time. "It's already 12 am!" I noted to him only to earn a shrug.
"No problem." I pursed my lips at him as he only rolled his eyes, pulling my hand. "Let's go!" Jono watched us go waving his hand at us.
Atem took me to his BMW and drove to the mall. The streets were almost empty and though the streets were lightened but it was still creepy for me to be here at this time. Meanwhile, Atem had the voice of the radio turned up to the limit as he tapped on the steering wheel enjoying the song. It was the first time he looks cheerful to me and I couldn't help but smile at him.
When we reached the mall, sure enough it was closed. I gave him a weird look while he smirked offering his hand for me.
"Are you going to break the windows?" I vaguely asked, having him simply shook his head, picking me up bridal-style. I couldn't help but flush and look away, clutching to him firmly as he stared with a blank look at me. I don't know how he started to leap up and I suddenly realized we were at the last floor. I couldn't stare down and I clutched to him closing my eyes.
"Atem.." I whispered burying my head in his chest.
"Don't be a crybaby Anzu, I won't let go!" He said, pushing the window to the inside to open it. I gasped in awe as a circular part of the window fell down swiftly to let us enter. "Jono and I used to come here a lot so we made a way to get in." He explained, letting go of me. The lights were out so it felt scary to me and I held his hand.
"Atem, it's scary!" I whimpered.
Sighing, he got out a light. "Humans are such a waste of air." He mumbled. I glared at him, but still kept holding his hand. We walked to a store which title I failed to see and saw Atem smirk in a sly way.
"This is a good store."
I used the light to see where I was heading and gasped at the various fashion brands; Chanel, Escada, Gucci and many other expensive stuff. I was literally salivating at the things I saw. But then I realized what we were doing and sent Atem a reproachful glare.
"I'm not gonna steal anything!" I objected, crossing my arms.
"Who told you to steal?" He snapped, "I'm paying so go buy whatever you want okay?"
I swear I had stars in my eyes and I felt like flying when he said that. Without a hesitate, I went to look for something good and ended with six great dresses that I wanted to try on. Atem had his back lying on the cashier looking at me with interest. I didn't know how he could stay this calm; I thought guys hate shopping. He never said anything about hurrying up. Back to the point, how am I ever going to try this on with him gawking like that?
"What's wrong?" He sounded amused and I bet he knew what I was thinking about. I felt my body fire up at his silly actions.
Choosing not to answer, I went to him giving him the dresses. "I want these."
"But you didn't try them on." He reminded with a smirk. As if I forgot anyways. This guy is unbelievable. I was at loss of words when he pulled me to him, taking off my blouse with professional hands. My eyes grew wide as my body went numb and I couldn't move when he put the dress on me craftily.
"I think this one is perfect." I couldn't see myself in the mirror and the lights fell from my hands when Atem pulled me. I was only able to gaze at his godlike eyes and flush. He was still holding me from the sides, smirking at me as his hands travelled on my almost naked body. The dress he chose was a dark blue, thigh-length one and the back was all revealed as the front was a V shaped one that almost reached my cleavage .
"You should look the best tomorrow specially that lots of important and famous people are coming." He said, his finger tracing my face lightly. A flick of recognition hit me as I mused on his talk remembering Seto being a celebrity. Most likely he will be there tomorrow. Fresh tears made their way to my eyes as I tried to stifle back a cry of agony.
"Anzu?" Atem called my name with a spasm of worry in his voice when I threw myself in his arms, holding him like dear life and sobbing. He remained silent, as he enveloped me in his arms, his chin resting on top of my head. I clenched his trench-coat sniffing back the tears as I broke apart for inches away staring up at Atem's always emotionless face.
"Sorry for this." I said, looking down.
"What happened yesterday?"
I was surprised at how he sensed that my fit had something to do with yesterday's events. I was actually more surprised at his sudden care.
"Nothing important." I smiled reassuringly for some reason.
"You've always been a terrible liar Anzu." He groaned and I gasped in complete surprise. I have always been! How could he know? However, he didn't allow me to ask him for he drew me to a sudden kiss and this time I wrapped my arms around him kissing him back with such surprising passion. I swore I heard a moan from him and I thought it was because I was kissing back for the first time. His hands sent shivers of pleasure down my body as they wandered my bare back and ended inside the dress as they reached my breast. He immediately squeezed it making me bite his mouth and yell in pleasure inside it. I couldn't keep up to him he was such a skilled kisser and the way his tongue was exploring my mouth was unbelievable. He kept on touching my nipples as I held his face deepening the kiss totally forgetting that I hated him with a passion. Something inside me wanted him so bad and felt like it was a usual sense to want him. It was like I've used to kiss him and have him touching me this way.
"Atem please.." I gasped out between the fierce kisses feeling my body weaken and I almost fell when he brought me to his chest, hugging me with one arm as the other left some money on the cashier and took the dresses. I was almost drunk with his kisses and I let him pick me up swiftly to the car as I closed my eyes, remembering the time where I once injured my leg in the orphanage while playing with Mokuba. Back then, Seto held me up to the head-mistress Mouri and I could never forget how happy I felt when he took care of me. The worried look he's eyes held was priceless. I felt like I could kill to get back to that time as a tear rolled in my eyes.
~...~
The next day I slept until noon and if it wasn't for Jonouchi coming and waking me up I might have slept until the next day. I felt so tired and I didn't think I had enough energy to withstand the party thing tonight. Especially remembering that Seto most likely will be there.
Atem was no where to be seen in the house and Jono told me that he had work to do. I didn't exactly care where he was, or if he was coming home tonight. For as much as I cared, I didn't have the will to go. Yet, I was thinking of what happened yesterday; the way I kissed him with such passion. What has gotten into me?
As I spent the day with Jonouchi, trying to forget the party matter and the strange feelings towards Atem, we played with something called Wii. He laughed at me for not knowing what is it as he taught me how to play. We spent the entire afternoon playing, totally forgetting the fact that we had a party to attend.
Well, not for long, since Atem came home eventually, and yelled at us for being childish like that.
"What the hell are you doing? It's almost eight and you still didn't get dressed up!"
Jono and I laughed nervously throwing the controllers away. "Give us some minutes and we'll get ready." Jono mumbled, nudging me with his elbow, gesturing for me to go and change.
Nodding, I went upstairs to have a shower. Then, changing into the glittering dark blue dress from yesterday, wearing red heels and putting on some cologne. I saw Atem walk to me from the mirror. He was wearing an elegant black trouser with a white shirt, first two buttons opened loosely to reveal his well shaped chest, as I took a glimpse of a silver chain that probably was for a necklace. I couldn't make sure.
He came to stand behind me, holding my hair up in what looked like a ponytail, leaving some locks to conceal my eyes. Taking a diamond flower-shaped clip, he held my hair with it, leaving me to check the simple yet amazing hairstyle he made.
"This is better.." He whispered, giving me my red purse. "Take this too." He gave me a box for and I opened it seeing a new gold iPhone. "This is the newest release. Hope you like it."
"Wow! It's beautiful." I smiled to him, wholeheartedly for the first time. "Thanks."
~...~
Mrs. Mouri was busy finishing some papers and writing down some notes for necessary stuff to bring to the kids. The donations Seto Kaiba made should be enough to bring new clothes and some toys for the orphans. Smiling in content, she added a few more things to the list, remembering that Ai will leave in the upcoming days. She didn't exactly like Anzu that much, but she was happy that another orphan was adopted. That meant less expenses and sure a loving family that they deserved.
The door was slid open with a tiny crack extracting her. Looking up, she was surprised to see Otogi, the guy that came with Anzu. It was already past 9:00 Pm and the doors were locked how did he come in?
"Mr. Otogi.. The orphanage is closed, I'm afraid you need to come back tomorrow." Mrs. Mouri told him politely, feeling such a dark aura surrounding the place. It made her unease.
"Shut up!" He briskly muttered. "Bring Ai here now!" He hissed, making the woman shake, taking a few steps back.
"What did you say?" She tried to correct herself, guessing that she misheard him. Too bad, Otogi didn't wait for her to finish since he grasped her neck, pushing her to the wall with a thud.
"I don't like to repeat my words!"
"Who are you...?" She stuttered, feeling suffocated by the way he grabbed her neck, stopping the oxygen from reaching.
Smirking in response, he banged her head to the wall, throwing her lifelessly on the floor as blood came out from her nose. "Such a lousy service." He breathed out in frustration. "I'll have to get the girl myself." He mumbled to himself, taking her phone from the floor.
"Please bring me the little girl Ai to my office. I'm her adopter." Otogi said to the assistant on the phone, as he sat on Mrs. Mouri's swivel chair waiting for Saki to come in as he took a cigarette out, smoking it.
"Mrs. Mouri.." Saki knocked before she got in, bringing Ai with her. The lights were off and she couldn't see much. When her eyes landed on a guy sitting on the chair and the unconscious head mistress on the floor, she gasped, hiding Ai behind her back. "What have you done? Who are you?" She shouted.
"Now now..." He sneered, extinguishing the cigarette on the office before he walked to Saki, with an amused smirk. "Let's not make a big buzz out of it. Give me the child or else!" Behind the appearing smirk, she knew there was a serious threat. But being responsible for the kids here, she cannot run away. She had to protect Ai, as hopeless as this seemed.
"You're not taking her!" She snapped. Ai clutched to Saki's dress, tears flying up to her hazel eyes.
"Fine!" He retorted, staring down for brief seconds as Saki inhaled and exhaled in anxiety, shoving Ai behind her. Just then, Otogi looked up, giving Saki a very hard punch in her stomach, getting a moan of pain out of her before she fell on the floor.
Ai took a step back, looking down at Saki with teary eyes as she gasped in panic. Her hands on her mouth as she sniffed her tears, shaking from head to toe. "Don't worry little Ai." Otogi cooed. "You're in good hands."
What is Otogi up to? And why did he kidnap Ai? What is going to happen in the party? Stay tuned guys, things will get really interesting from now on.
