It was early the next morning. Faint blue light cut into the room through the cracks in the curtain. I slowly opened my eyes to see the inside of our room at the inn. Twilight and I were covered in blankets with my hooves wrapped loosely around twilight who slept soundly against me. I could feel her stomach expanding and deflating with every gentle breath she took. I was just noticing that twilight was a mouth breather when she slept, it was kinda cute. Her mouth was open slightly which open and closed only a little with every breath. She was drooling too, which was kinda funny. I don't really think I've seen her breath like that other times, she must have been really tired from last night. She was out cold, probably lost somewhere in her mind totally engulfed in bliss.
I don't want to wake her up, and with us so close together I would probably wake her if I tried to get out of the bed, so I stayed. I was feeling lazy anyway, like one of those mornings when you wake up and you don't want to leave the bed because its so comfortable so you try and trick yourself into thinking that your still tired. I took this time to think about what we should do today. We've met with rpm night commander Merideth and rune star the spire wizard. I guess the only other pony left to meet is the king, I'm sure we might be able to get an audience with him. Other than that I think we're set. The ship with our friends in it is going to arrive after tomorrow, so it's nice that me and twilight do have some time to relax a bit more and just have a normal day.
I suppose that after we meet the king we should also go and check back with Merideth and see if we can't figure out some kind of plan. It would be good to have one instead of going in blind. If we put our heads together I'm sure we can come up with some kind of solid plan. Also another thing we should do is look out for the prince, we still have no idea where he is, and the ponies around here don't really seem to know much about his appearance. It's definitely something worth looking into. I know that we didn't see him in the castle yesterday, but then again we only went through at least half of the whole castle.
Alright I've got a plan figured out now, and its pretty good. So after we get ready this morning we'll go and see the king. We'll talk and ask him about what he knows and also about the prince. Once that's done we should go and find the prince if were given any specific information about where he might be. If we don't have anything then we can go see Merideth. If we do find the prince and don't have enough time to see Merideth before the days end then we'll go and see her tomorrow, we'll work out a plan and head over once the others come. This plan is subject to change, but that's the gist of it all.
I stayed in the comfortable bed, my eyes closed shut a couple of times and when I opened them next, time seemed to jump forward a bit. I drifted in and out of sleep keeping hold of twilight and feeling the vibration of her beating heart through her body. It's hard to believe that such a peaceful morning can result from such a distraught and crazy night such as last night. It's almost unbelievable really. The light cutting through the curtains was no longer pure dawn blue, but now an early morning orange. It shone through the curtains and added a peaceful orange glow to the small room.
In front of me, twilight shifted and let out an innocent moan as she wriggled around and ultimately turned herself around and buried herself into my body. She place both hooves on my chest and rested her head right below mine, against my neck. She was still breathing lightly through her mouth and her warm breath wrapped around my neck and traveled down my sides. She started moaning again and that's when I realize she was barely starting to talk in her sleep. At first she was just mumbling incoherent gibberish. Not long after she started mumbling audible sentences which didn't seem to make any sense even when they were only seconds apart, it must be because she was dreaming right now. I saw her face tighten as she started mumbling again and her head started nodding back and forth, then she stopped and her eyes opened up.
"Uhh... C-Crimson?" She moaned out. She was staring right at my chest. Once she noticed where she was and had a full grasp on reality again she started to put all the pieces together. She blinked twice and then rubbed her eyes with her hooves. She placed them back on my chest and then realized where she was placing her hooves. She scooted her head back only an inch and looked up at me. I looked back down at her and gave her a friendly smile. She started to blush and her face turned a ravishing red color.
"Sleep well?" I asked. She scooted back even more to avoid awkwardness and then just nodded yes.
"You know, you're adorable when you sleep." I said kidding her.
"W-what do you mean?" She asked still blushing.
"Well, you were sleeping with your mouth open and started to drool, then you tossed and turned and even started talking in your sleep." I said.
"R-really... Oh, I'm sorry." She said. "I hope I didn't drool all over you."
"No it's fine... So, are you feeling any better now... About last night, or do you wanna talk about it?" I asked trying to comfort her.
"Yeah. I'm fine..." She said. "I just needed somepony to lean on... Thank you crimson..." She said. "I actually had a great dream last night, you were in it... And the others." She said.
"What was it about?" I asked.
"I don't remember too well... But we were in ponyville, and we were all having fun, it was a long time ago though, back when you didn't have powers and we were all just good friends, that's all..." She said.
"Sounds like a great dream." I said.
"Yeah... Yeah it was." She said sounding somewhat unsure. She seemed like she wasn't telling me something, but I decided to let it go since she was going through a lot, if it seems like it keeps bothering her then we can talk about it. Twilights a tough mare, whatever it is I'm sure she can get through it.
So we got out of the bed and got our clothes on. Twilight took some time putting on her mages robes while I was able to snap into my armor within a few seconds. The seal that Merideth gave me was still attached to my armor and will stay there until I take it off manually. Once we were all done getting dressed we made our way out of the room with our stuff and went down stairs to the lower level. Once we got down there we saw a few guys with girls on their laps and beer in their hooves. We didn't bother with them and moved on. The bartender wished us a fair well and apologized yet again for any trouble, not like it makes up for it... But the free room was nice instead of having to stay in that witches room all night, and by witch I mean starlight. The one thing that's killing me right now is that I know we'll probably end up staying the night here again.
"So where are we off to now?" Asked twilight as we exited the inn and the door closed behind us. The streets were rather busy with fancy looking ponies in silk walking around. A few chariots rolled by and we had to clear out of the way.
"I figured we should see the king next," i said. "See what he has to say about all of this, plus its good to get to know him."
"Alright... So it's back to the palace then." Said twilight.
"Yeah, and after while we're speaking with the king we should ask him about prince moon and where he is." I said.
"Oh yeah. That's right... The prince is here, I haven't seen him around yet."
"Neither have I... So I'm not sure weather or not this is a good or bad thing, but we should keep our eyes peeled for anything we can use to help us." I said. We made our way through the town tracing our steps back to the castle from what we can recall from memory. It wasn't too hard to remember. We just looked out to the spire and made our way around the streets growing closer and closer. I memorized the way back by retracing the path we took to the palace and it was then burned into my mind. We soon broke through the familiar clearing of buildings and made our way back onto the large garden encircling the palace.
"We should ask a guard for directions to the kings throne room." Said twilight.
"No ,I'm sure I remember from yesterday something about it being in the north wing." I said.
"Yeah, but still, I'd like to ask anyway." Said twilight wandering over to a passing guard. She stopped in front of him and he looked down at her as he stopped as well. I sauntered over and made my way next to twilight.
"Hello, there... Sorry, but we need some directions to the king." Said twilight.
"Oh... Wait, you're the two ponies from Equestria right?" Asked the guard.
"Yes we are..." I answered.
"Oh, well certainly then." He said. "The throne room is in the far north wing. It's hidden behind the spire from this side... Just circle around and you'll get there, the king should be there, if not then ask one of the advisors, he may be in his quarters or someplace else."
"Thank you..." Said twilight. We made our way from the guard and towards the palace. I wanted to tell twilight that I told her so, but I'll show some restraint this time. We wandered past the garden and made our way into the palace through the south wing entrance. We passed through the south wing and found ourselves in the familiar center of the palace. The outer ring encircling the base of the spire. We moved past the spire and set our eyes on the entrance to the north wing. We walked up and saw two ponies guarding the entrance. Both were in thick black metal armor with hoods and masks. They carried heavy swords on their backs along with other weapons strapped to their belts.
"Halt!" Said one of the guards who had a deep, booming voice.
"What business have you with the king?"asked the other guard with the same deep voice.
"We're the two ponies from Equestria." I said. "We're here to see the king about the incident with the four horns gate... And the lack of trade ships passing through." I said. The two guards looked down at me and I could feel their icy gaze.
"You may enter." Said the two guards. They stepped aside and the doors magically opened on their own. We walked on through and started gazing at the huge hall with its fancy decorations and elaborate design. A large red carpet with pillars close to the walls led to a rising in which two thrones sat there majestically. We made our way and saw two ponies on the thrones, the king and the queen presumably. There were five other ponies around the thrones. Four of them gathered around the king wearing fancy clothing, those must be the advisors. But the fifth pony was a lot more interesting.
A mare in full black knights armor. Heavy plated gear with a shield strapped to her back and a glowing blue sword at her waist. She wore a heavy helmet and not a mask such as the others. Even with the helmet on I couldn't see her face. Her eyes however glowed a cold blue and shone through the helmet. A cold mist seeped out from the cracks in her armor which seemed to freeze the ground around her. It was like that mare was made completely of ice. She was the first one to notice us enter and kept her gaze particularly on me. I thought she might warn the king about the visitors, but she staid still and did not move or speak, she only watched us. It wasn't long though before the king had noticed us and looked over as his advisors stepped aside.
"Ah, and who might you be?" He asked.
"We're the help from Equestria your majesty." I said as me and twilight knelt down.
"Rise..." He said. "Hmm... I figured there would be more of you."
"A series of unfortunate incidents has brought us here earlier than the rest... We expect them to arrive the day after next." I said.
"Hmm..." He murmured. He was a really big pony with dark grey fur and white hair. His eyes were a very interesting color... White. They were a silvery snowflake white. He was wearing light clothing, but still fit for a king nonetheless. On his head sat a golden crown with a snowflake crystal embedded in it. The queen who sat next to him had white fur with white hair, it was an interesting combo, like a clean slate. She had dark blue eyes however that, due to her all white body, caused them to shine brightly and illuminate her figure. She was wearing robes as well with a smaller gold crown on her head.
"Your majesty... Are you sure we can trust these two ponies, the letter that Merideth forwarded to us seemed a bit... Fanciful if I may." Said one of the advisors.
"Neville is right your highness, there's something strange about these ponies, Merideth said that they both could use magic... And I only count one unicorn." Added another advisor.
"Now hold on..." Said the king, if there's anypony around here that can tell ponies for what they are, it's me." He said getting up from his throne. He walked down the steps and walked over to us and we bowed again out of respect. "Please, rise... Let me look at you." He said. We both stood back up and let the king look over us.
"Your majesty..."said one of the advisors but the king raised a hoof to him and he silenced himself. He started walking around twilight and looking over her. He stopped in front of her and looked her in the eyes.
"Hmm... You must be very smart. I can see it in your eyes." He said. "I also see great magical prowess and courage. Not to mention motivation... And friendship, a powerful trait indeed. It's always good to have friends." He said. Next he walked over and started looking over me. He walked around me and stopped to look me in the eyes. I stared back and he backed up and spoke. "Ah yes... You are a very interesting pony indeed. I see courage, determination, vigilance, and unimaginable strength. And there's a fir in your eye, I see it. It warms your soul and the souls of others around you. There's also longing, you long for something precious, and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. But... There is darkness in your eyes. Anger... And regrets... I sense a tortured conscience resides in you." He said looking me back in the eyes. "Tell me, what are your names?" Asked the king.
"My name is twilight sparkle."
"And I'm crimson blast." I said.
"Tell me crimson... Is it true what both guard captain Donnic and knight commander Merideth say is true, are you capable of magic abilities?" Asked the king.
"Yes... It's true." I said.
"I don't believe it, it's not possible for a pony to have magical abilities without being a unicorn." Said one of the advisors.
"Is it really now?" Asked the king. "Have you forgot somepony in the room?" He asked seeming upset with the advisor. The king shifted his eyes over to the mare in the freezing armor who stood there emotionlessly looking at us all. "Now, crimson... Please, can you prove this to us?" Asked the king.
I thought of a way to prove it and thought of the best way to do it. I focused all of my energy and started to glow brightly. My eyes started to glow and the symbols began to appear on my body. A glowing yellow halo encircled above my head and the ground under me started to crack as light shone through. Suddenly I let out a burst of energy as the initial force cause the entire ground and the walls of the north palace wing to shatter and crack and light started filtering in through all the seems. I started levitating into the air and she ground began to quake and roar. I floated in the air for a minute and looked down at them all as I spread my wings letting out a flurry of sparks which fluttered to the ground like snow. I began to recede my magic as the cracks in the walls and ground started to heal and I began to glow less and less until I was back to my normal self and everything was back to normal. The advisors were shocked and the king was smiling.
"Very interesting indeed." Said the king.
"Isn't he?" Said a voice from behind us. It was familiar... Very familiar. I looked back to see that it was rune star who had spoke up. He got in behind us somehow and we never noticed him, it doesn't even seem like the king or anypony else in the room noticed him enter. Behind him were the two tower guard mages from the other day. The mare and the stallion.
"Rune star... What are you doing here, shouldn't you be in the tower playing around with your magic." Said one of the advisors, so far I don't really like the kings advisors.
"And shouldn't you be filling the kings ear with pointless rabble." Retaliated rune star. "Honestly your majesty I don't understand why you need an advisor let alone four of them."
"What is it that you want rune star?" Asked the queen from her throne.
"I'm here to clear some of this fog..." Said rune star. "If there are any two ponies out there that can help us, it's these two... Have faith in them." Said rune star.
"Hmm... They definitely seem like admire able ponies." Aid the king. He stood there looking over us and thought to himself for a minute. "Please, leave us." Said the king to his advisors.
"Should I go as well my lord?" Asked the queen.
"Yes please... I will meet you in the chambers later." He said. With that all said the queen and the advisors left the room and soon it was just me, twilight, the king, rune star and his acolytes and the armored pony.
"You two better go too..." Said rune star talking to his to guards. With that they both nodded and vanished in puffs of black smoke. The king wandered back to his throne and sat down and started to relax.
"So... You probably want to know what I know." Said the king.
"That's what we came here for." I said.
"Well, the truth is that I don't know much." He said. "All I know is that something definitely isn't right, and I do know that if this isn't solved soon then I fear the country will be doomed. The sea ships were our only method of trade, we don't have air ships... And there aren't any other cities around that we can trade with."
"So you really don't know much then?" Asked twilight to which the king just shook his head.
"Do you know where the prince is?" I asked off the topic.
"Oh yes, prince moon." Said the king. "He came here only a month after the incident, we welcomed him openly and gave him a room to stay. He started to catch on to something but wouldn't tell anypony. After a near month of him going around and gathering research he vanished." Said the king.
"He just... Vanished?" Asked twilight.
"I saw him from my tower flying out of the city and into the wasteland... He hasn't appeared since, can't its been four months already." Said rune star. "I fear he may have perished in the wastes."
"Did he leave anything. Any notes or a journal... Anything?" I asked.
"No... Nothing. I don't think he ever wrote down anything about his findings... He kept it all in his head." Said the king.
"I'm sure he must be fine." Said twilight.
"Maybe so... But we cannot hold our breaths." Said the king. " when did you say your friends would arrive?" He asked.
"The day after tomorrow." I said.
"Alright, before that day comes I want the two of you to find out any information you can about the four horns gate, it might be good to ask around the dock with the ponies that are closer to it." Said the king. "While you are doing that I'll meet with the knight commander, and we'll work out a plan. Tomorrow is Wednesday, your friends come the day after... So on Friday we begin." Said the king.
"Alright... Understood." I said. We turned and prepared to leave when the king stopped us.
"One more thing." He said. We turned back to look at him and see what it was. " I want for you to bring my daughter with you." He said gesturing to the pony in the armor... Holy crap.
"That's your daughter?!" I asked seeming surprised because I was.
" yes, it is strange, I see that." He said. "But she isn't really my daughter, she is adopted, but I think of her as my daughter." He said.
The king told us about the story of the mare in the armor. Her name was snowbelle. One day an evil snow spirit had broken through the wall of the city and destroyed a part of the city. It took eighty ponies to slay the beast. Once it was destroyed its body shattered and diverged. When they began cleaning and repairing the wall and the destroyed homes the king had gone to oversee the work. While he was there he and the queen both heard a faint cry coming from one of the shattered homes.
They removed the rubble of the home and found a little baby girl, wrapped in a blanket and being protected by her dead mother. The king and queen took in the baby as their own. Rune star had later found out that the girl had absorbed some of the evil spirits power into her body, giving her magical powers over ice and snow and the cold. As she matured she grew in power and learned to control the power, and she forever remains in the kings gratitude by vowing to protect him with her life.
"That's a very endearing story." Said twilight.
"Why do you want her to come with us?" I asked.
"I want more for her than this place, it's a very unforgiving place, so I need her to go with you, not just to solve our problem, but whatever journey you may be facing now, please... Take her with you." He said.
"Are you sure... Is this okay with her?" I asked. "Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked looking over to the mare, to which I was responded with silence.
"She hasn't spoken a word in over a week. We have talked about it, and she agreed that since it is my wish she will obey it, though she may not like it." Said the king. "Understand that I am not being hurtful to her, I want her to live in a place that is kind, and forgiving, and warm... Here, is not the place."
"I don't think you understand your highness..." Said rune star speaking up. "The path that these two travel on isn't an easy one... Nor is it a straight one either." He looked over to us and I knew he was seeking permission to tell the king our secret. I looked him in the eyes and nodded.
"What do you mean by this... There's something that you aren't telling me." Said the king.
"These two ponies... Are much like myself." He said.
"What... Powerful wizards and wielders of magic?" Asked the king.
"Not only that... But we share the same home." He said. The kings eyes widened for a second and then settled. He placed his hoof over his mouth and chin and started to ponder and he slipped back slightly in his throne.
"Oh... Well, that makes sense." He said. " I knew there was something off, I was reminded of you rune star when I looked into their eyes." It sounds like the king understands. "So the two of you are from a distant universe... Then, why have you come here?" He asked.
"It's a very long story..." I said. "But being here wasn't our original intention." I said. "We've been chasing a deity that has taken something very precious to me... To the both of us." I said. "We came here through the portal in our own world, but now fate has lead us here and hopefully the next portal." The king stayed in his pondering position and just looked at the both of us.
"So even if all is said and done..." Said twilight. "If Snowbelle comes with us back to our own world, you won't be able to see her again."
"Yes... I understand that." Said the king seeming somewhat lost in his own words. He had now started to stare off at the ground and was deep in thought.
"It must not be easy for you to give your daughter off to a group of strangers and never see her again." I said. "I know a broken heart when I see one, please... Think about it before you make a decision." I said. "If you do decide that you want her to come with us... Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to like it, but your reasoning seems to be good enough, so I'll bring her with me and make sure she's safe."
"Thank you..." He said. "Yes, I... I think I will ponder on it for a while. But please, take her with you around the city... Get to know each other."
"That sounds fair." Said twilight looking over to us.
"It does... All right, we'll take her with us around the town, but I do honestly believe you should think this over for a while." I said.
"I will." Said the king. "Until then though, I have nothing more to say... You may take your leave... And you as well snowbelle, go with them, and do try to become friends." Said the king. The mare in the armor looked up to the king and he stared back at her.
"Yes father..." She said giving us the first sample of her voice. It was deeper than most mares, it also carried the echo of the helmet she was wearing. But her voice was very smooth and soft with an icy undertone. She looked away from her father and walked over to us. The ground seemed to freeze slightly under her steps as she made her way over. She stopped next to me and looked me in the eyes with her own glowing blue eyes. I looked to twilight and she shrugged. I decided to roll with the punches and just move on with our current mission. We should head around town and ask ponies about what they've seen. So we started to make our way out of the castle.
We left the castle grounds after a little while and started pacing around town asking store owners and merchants about anything they might have seen since they generally have to get up early to set up shop. Through the whole time snowbelle stayed by our side and remained silent. It was difficult to read any of her emotions through her armor and glowing eyes, and ponies are generally nervous around her, she seems to have quite the reputation because ponies constantly ask us why she's with us. As we kept walking around we noticed that there was a fish market section of the marketplace. To my surprise there were ponies behind stalls selling exotic and colorful fish. I had figured ponies wouldn't keep fishing with what's been going around lately. I made my way over to one of the stalls and twilight and snowbelle followed behind me. I didn't think that ponies ate fish... But I guess it must be like a foreign delicacy.
"Ah hello there sir what can I...uh... What can I do you fine folks?" He asked instantly choking on his words as snowbelle walked up behind us. All the other merchants and buyers looked over in curiosity and nervousness filled the air. I could hear the whispers making their way amongst the crowds.
"How is it possible that ponies are still selling fish?" I asked. "Aren't the waters supposed to be unsafe?"
"Well, yes... But, ponies have to make livings you know." He said nervously. "We fisher ponies still sail out into the waters to fish, if the fish are fine then the waters must be alright... But we stay the hell away from the gate, that's for sure."
"Did you see anything strange on the day the third horn vanished?" Asked twilight.
"Believe me, if anypony saw anything about it then word would have gotten around so fast it would leave your head spinning... So no, I haven't, if I had... It would have been the first thing you heard." He said.
"Have you noticed anything strange about the waters when you go out to fish?" I asked.
"No, not really?" He said. "There are still plenty of fish to catch... Though, there aren't as many iceberg whales as there used to be, or any large fish in that case... Which I guess is strange." He said.
"There aren't any large fish?" Asked twilight.
"No, there used to be lots of them." He said. "I'm not talking about big fish like the tuna over there on that ponies stand." Said the merchant pointing over to another stall with a large tuna on it, bigger than a pony. "But the big, big fish, like iceberg whales, sea seraphs, and tetradons."
"What's a tetradon?" I asked.
"It's like a squid... But bigger than a ship, and its got like... Twenty tentacles instead of just eight... It's like a super squid... Mostly peaceful, but they like to surface now and then." He said.
"So there are fewer large ocean creatures now." I said.
"Yeah, you'd think that with the third horn gone, the larger gap would allow for more of them to flow in... But they don't, I tell ya... Nothing makes sense anymore." He said.
"No... It doesn't." I murmured to myself. "Anyway... Thank you for the help... Have a good day." I said waving goodbye to him as we turned and left. We started making our way out of the fish market and just kept wandering around. We asked tons of ponies about the disappearance of the third horn and nopony seems to know a thing. It really is like it just never existed.
"So what do you make of all this?" Asked twilight walking next to me. Snowbelle kept behind the two of us and stayed silent. We've only heard her speak once and that was at the kings throne room. She definitely is a mysterious pony, that's for sure.
"I'm not really sure what to make of this twilight... None of it seems to make much sense." I said. "I could use a break... Over there, it's a cafe... We can get some drinks and relax for a second and think this out." I suggested.
"That sounds like a great idea... My hooves are killing me." Said twilight. "What about you snowbelle?" Asked twilight looking back. Snowbelle kept quiet though and just glanced between me and twilight.
"I think that's a yes... Lets go." I said leading the party over to the cafe. When we got inside we were greeted by the smell of fresh baked goods and coffee grinds. We walked over to a table and took our seats. Me and twilight sat on either end of the table and snowbelle just stood there. "You should sit down." I said to her. She looked at me and then the seat and then took a seat right beside me, sitting somewhat close to the edge however.
"Hello there you three..." Said a waitress who rushed over with a smile on her face. "What can I get the three of you?" She asked.
"Can we just get three black coffee with cream and sugar on the side?" I asked.
"Sure thing." Said the waitress as she wrote it down on a small pad and scooted off to the counter. We sat down and patiently waited for our coffee, which took only a minute or so to arrive. She brought over three cups of coffee along with a small bowl of sugar and a little pouring cup of cream. We paid her and she thanked us as she rushed off to the next table. Me and twilight made our coffee and took a sip from them. They were still hot, but it had been such a long time since I had coffee I couldn't help but take a big drink of it.
"Alright... Lets think now." Said twilight. "So around six months ago the third horn vanishes in the middle of the night. Nopony saw a thing and nopony knows a thing about it, not even rune star."
"The only pony who seemed to have been on the verge of something was the prince, and he's disappeared out into the tundra. Something about the case compelled him to go out there... But what?" I asked.
"I'm not sure, but we definitely know that there are two things we can relate the incident to." Said twilight. "Merideth said that ever since the mountain vanished there have been more frequent avalanches at the ice shards which are the large mountains in the tundra, also the number of giant fish in the large bed of water encircled by the sea teeth has gone down, which is strange due to the larger gap that is now open." Said twilight.
"And also trade seems to have completely vanished and Equestria has reports of shipments that have gone missing." I added. "I think all of these things are linked together... There has to be an order of events to it though."
"I feel like the gap in the four horns gate isn't just a gap, I think there's something there, a sea monster or something." Said twilight. "It makes sense, a large sea monster probably caused the horn to collapse and now it's blocking off anything from entering or exiting, you know, eating the fish and wrecking ships." Said twilight.
"Maybe, but I think it's unlikely, but still a possibility at this point." I said. Me and twilight drank our coffee and kept thinking about any possibilities. I looked over to snowbelle to see if she had anything to say, which of course she didn't. She just sat there staring at the coffee in front of her. "Snowbelle... What are you doing, trying to unlock the coffee's secrets... It's coffee, drink it." I said.
"I... I've never had coffee before."... Holy shit, it speaks! Her voice was the same, low and comforting with an icy undertone and carried the echo of her helmet.
"Hey, your talking now... That's great, are you feeling better?" Asked twilight.
"You really haven't had coffee before?" I asked.
"No... I lived a pampered life." She said. "But i didn't let myself get spoiled. Even though the king thinks of me as his daughter I don't think of myself as a princess." She said. "I think of myself to be the kings guardian, and would do anything to make him happy." She said still looking down at the coffee.
" do you think of the king as a father?" Asked twilight.
"Yes... I do, I owe him my life and without his kindness I wouldn't have survived, I would have died on the street, in the wreckage of my home." She said.
"I can't blame you for wanting to protect the king after what he's done." I said. " I'd do the same if I was in your position."
"Thank you..." She said. "I'm...uh, I'm sorry, if I haven't been much help. You two are here trying to help out for the sake of this country, and I haven't been able to do anything to assist you two." Said snowbelle.
"Don't worry about it." Said twilight.
"I've just been thinking about a few things." She said.
"You mean about leaving this place and coming with us?" I asked.
"Y-yes... I don't know what to think about it all." She said. "I do know that if the king does ask me to follow you on your adventures then I will follow you without question. But if the two of you really are from a different world... Then that means I may never see my father again."
"Do you agree with what your father thinks is best for you?" Asked twilight.
"I do... But I don't want to leave his side." She said. "I don't like this place despite being born here, it's such a terrible place and I don't understand why ponies would settle on such a frozen wasteland." She said. "I asked my father why we couldn't all just go to Equestria once when I was young. He told me that everypony must make sacrifices and that living here is the sacrifice that we all make."
"What does he mean by that?" I asked.
"I don't know, he never said so... Whenever I asked he would just tell me that there is no other way."
"That's strange." I said. I thought on it for a minute but decided not to bother with it too much. We sat there and kept drinking our coffee. Suddenly the door to the cafe was pushed open and the little bell on the door rung out. I looked over curiously to see who it was and to my surprise, it was rune star. He was wearing robes and had a saddle bag with him. Everypony in the cafe didn't seem to recognize him as he walked over to our table.
"W-what are you doing here?" Asked twilight.
"It's important..." He said. "I found something that should be for your eyes only." Said rune star. I could se the seriousness in his eyes, not the usual eccentric look he kept with him.
"What Is it?" I asked. Rune star used his magic to open up his saddle bag and pull out a leather bound journal and floated it over to us and placed it on the table.
"Just take a look at it." He said. "I found it in my library under 'P'."he said. And without anything else to say he vanished in a puff of smoke leaving only the book there in front of us. It was upside down so I picked it up and flipped it over and then read the cover.
"Prince Moon's Journal."
-Authors Note: hey guys, hope you enjoyed the new chapter and i also hope you're all eager for the next one. I'll warn you guys right now that the next chapter is going to be a little bit different than any of the chapters in Reborn so far. it is a writing style that i have actually done already, i used it for one of the chapters in Dream Machine, im not saying which one though. however i am going to tweak it a little bit so that it stays tied in with the story... trust me, once it comes out you guys will understand. until that time, guys, have a great day/night/ life... thing.
