Chapter 11

"The Story P1."

"It all started out like twenty-six years ago." He started dramatically and I gasped at the long period of time.

Jonouchi's POV...

I always told myself that I was unlucky that problems always came crashing into my head. No matter how much I tried to avoid problems, they always seemed to find me, to tick my butt off. My parents were divorced since I could remember, and I had lived with my dad for as long as I could remember. It was your mother's mistake! My dad would always say that to me, referring to the divorce thing. She cheated on me and I couldn't swallow my pride and let go of that. I had to get divorce.

It was long time before I met my only sister Shizuka again. Since divorce, she had stayed with my mom since she was really young and needed her. She was three years younger than me. I was twelve years old and I didn't need her much. For as much as I had known, I've hated her and cared the less of being with her.

One day, she called. Ignorant to the identity, I couldn't recognize the sound of my own mother! It wasn't actually my fault because she never called. She told me that she was bringing Shizuka since she's been nagging too much on her lately, asking her to see her only brother. We scheduled a place and a timing to meet and then hung up, it was pretty much it for the conversation.

The next day, I was too anxious knowing I'll see my sister again. I had told Honda, my only friend here, about the meeting and he was really excited for me.

Honda was a kind hearted and down-to-earth guy. He seemed to have the curse of bad luck just like me, for he always had fights with people and wasn't exactly a beloved person. We met on a fight between my alley and his. The two of us were pushed into this against our will. I was a kid when I joined a gang of really bad people. They gave me money and made me feel cool, that's pretty much all I cared about. My dad was barely home, being workaholic as he was didn't bring us to meet so frequently.

Honda was just like me alone and his mother was dead, while his dad was sick. He needed money in whatever available way.

The day on the fight neither of us could win, for the other was stronger. I think god wanted that in order to be friends and still have respect for each other. After we fell on the ground together, panting and sweating hard. We introduced ourselves to each other.

"I'm Jonouchi Katsuya,"

"Honda. Hiroto Honda." He said to me.

We decided to leave gangs and became friends since then. We found better jobs to do and attended school.

The day I was supposed to see my sister, was a rainy chilly day. I had Honda with me, being my only friend. On our way, we stumbled across a fight. It was more like gang picking up on two hopless people than a fight actually. A couple of trie colored hair guys were being abused by larger and older people. We recognized the gang to be my previous one that I fought with and we figured they were trying to steal the boys money. We couldn't pretend ourselves blind and continue to the meeting. We had to rescue. And we did.

Honda, I, and the older one from the couple fought side by side the four guys on the opposite side. Ending with some scratches, a few wounds here and there, but we won.

The little boy was crying and held to his older brother asking if he was okay. They both thanked us and told us their names were Atem and Yugi. Honda stayed with them while I realized I was too late and headed to my date.

Shizuka was all wet when I arrived, instead of scolding me for being late she cried at the way I looked and decided to stay with me. Our mother knew not to discuss the decision with Shizuka since she was so hardheaded. She just sighed asking me to take care of her in the upcoming couple days.

My dad never knew how to express his feelings. I knew deep down that he was overjoyed seeing his little girl has grown so much. He just couldn't say it out loud.

On the other day, a new student joined our class. It was none other than Yugi, looking all shiny and better than the last day. He automatically recognized me and Honda and chose to sit next to us.

"Hey," He greeted nicely.

The two of us flashed him a smile. We spent the whole day talking to the new guy and realized how sweet and kindhearted, but shy and timid he was. When we asked him about his brother, he lowered his head, his expression sad and overwhelmed. He told us that he can't come to school and that he has to work and bring money in order for his father not to beat him up. He also said that his father thinks he's working too and doesn't know that he attends school. As much as Yugi tried to hide it with his cheerfulness, we knew there was something so wrong with his family. He was like us, cursed with unluckiness charm.

At the end of the school day, we told him to take us to where his brother worked. We reached a wood workshop and saw him using the saw to cut different shapes of wood. He rose his face up meeting his brother and us.

"Hey guys." He greeted. He was apparently tired and sweating. He thanked us again for helping him the other day and thanked us for being with his younger brother.

"Yugi is not good at making friends, I hope you stay by his side." He begged us. Honda and I patted his back, smiling.

"We're always gonna be friends, right?" Atem and Yugi nodded and we made a promise to stay friends forever.

Before Shizuka leaves back to our mother, we held a birthday party in my house. She was ten now while we were about thirteen. I couldn't help but notice Honda's special interest in my sister, but unfortunately for him she was unmistakably adored with Atem.

The next year a girl joined our team. She was beautiful, smart and very kindhearted. It was you Anzu.

Until then, we didn't know much about Atem's family but when you came and were so curious to know, just then we knew about them.

Atem's father had been in love with a woman his entire life but he couldn't marry her for some reason, and he eventually married Atem's mother in an unequaled marriage where they kept fighting all the time. The father had been alcoholic since Atem was born and he always would abuse him and Yugi when they were little telling them that they were useless and stuff. Up until Atem was seven years old where he started to work while he sent Yugi to school. But then their father knew and told Yugi that he needed to bring money in order to stay in the house.

Although, Atem's grandfather was a very rich businessman and he was giving his son all the money he needed, but still he wanted Atem and Yugi to work. He was crazy, spending money on drinking, drugs and women while he abused his kids. But Atem refused to let Yugi leave school. He had to work in two jobs in order to bring more money so he could convince his father that Yugi was really working.

His mother was a lunatic as well. She was cheating on her husband and had a boyfriend who countlessly came to the house to make love to the woman, in front of Atem and Yugi.

We were really surprised to hear about such crazy people and we wanted so much to help Yugi and Atem, especially you Anzu.

You were an orphan and you lived with your grandmother in her house. She was a great woman and she always welcomed us in the house where we always hanged out and studied and played. Your house was like a lair. And your grandmother never hurt us. She would always be with us and encourage us. Specially when she heard of Atem's story, she was so willing to help him and Yugi in all possible ways.

So, everyday when Atem would finish his work, he would come to your house where we gathered, and you would tutor him while we did our homework or played. We really had so much fun, despite having really sad lives but we were happy together.

When we turned 16, your grandmother blurt one truth that changed your life forever. She admitted that you were a foundling and that she found you in streets and took care of you. You were devastated that day, even though you were always the cheerful positive person in the group, but this was too much for you to know.

Atem was worried about you more than all of us, we all knew that he cared too deeply for you, but never allowed himself to admit it. He stayed by your side, helping you as you regained back your strength. It was shortly after that when your grandmother died, leaving you to be all alone. After all, we all seemed to have the gift of bad luck, probably this city jinxed us or something. That day, you disappeared and we were worried sick about you.

Flashback

Atem, Jono, Honda and Yugi searched all places for Anzu. Atem was the most worried one of them. He would kill himself if anything happened to Anzu. His sweet and perfect Anzu.

He reached the ocean, the place they used to come to talk or play. He and the group found her lying on the sands, looking up the sky.

"Anzu!" Atem called.

Anzu turned to them, quickly wiping her tears away. Atem hurried to her, stopped in front of her and with no warnings he captured her lips in his earning a gasp from her and from his friends.

"You scared the hell out of me!" He scolded, after breaking the kiss. "Don't you ever do that again! I love you Anzu."

Amazed, Anzu let a gasp as she started to cry and kissed Atem so fiercely. "I love you too Atemu! Oh, how I waited to hear this from you!" She hugged him tightly as the others smiled happily.

End of flashback..

Having Atem right there beside you was enough for you, and day after day you started to be back to your normal cheerfulness. While Shizuka came to live with me in the house after our mother decided to get married. She transferred to our school and joined our group. Things were finally getting better for us. Well, that didn't last forever...

Shizuka was down to know that you and Atem got together. She could not believe that her beloved Atem has a girlfriend and she's lost him forever.

So, she started to pull up schemes to separate you two.

One day that none of us could ever forget, the 1st of January to be exact; The day that will forever be our cursed day. You and Atem had a date celebrating his seventeenth birthday, while Yugi was in my place along with Honda and we were playing cards. It was late when Yugi wanted to leave home.

Flashback..

Atem's mother had drunken too much that day and was having sex with her boyfriend when Yugi got in. They both couldn't get enough and they took the little boy and tried to sexually harass him. Fortunately, Atem reached home earlier feeling a bit queasy and Anzu went back with him to make sure he was fine. When they arrived, they heard Yugi's yells and hurried upstairs to find him in bed, naked, while the mother and her bf were raping him. Anzu was paralyzed as Atem growled like a monster launching himself on the two, killing the man with one move completely ripping his heart while he flicked his mother's neck breaking it, hearing Anzu and Yugi scream fearfully. Anzu fell on the floor, holding herself as she watched Atem pant heavily, while Yugi put the blanket on him, crying his eyes out. Atem glanced over at Anzu, seeing silent tears running on her face and he cursed himself for acting like that. He didn't regret killing that bitch, but he couldn't understand where all that power came from. He reached down to Anzu, bringing her up and holding her to stop her cries as he stared at the panicked Yugi, unable to know what to do next.

End of flashback

That day was the most tragic day we ever went through. Atem isolated himself away from all of us as his father knew the truth and told the police about him, and just afterwards Atem was taken to jail, accused by the murder of his mother and her boyfriend.

Sugoroku was always betrayed by his own son that kept on telling him that his two kids worked with a gang. He would tell him that whenever Yugi and Atem would go up to their grandfather to tell him about their father abuses. Sugoroku never believed them. Aknam was a very good liar. He had a lie to every single thing. He would tell his father Sugoroku that his sons worked with a terrible gang and were fighting with other gangs that's why they always had bruises and wounds. Also, he would lie and say that they stole money from him so that Sugoroku would give him money.

So when Atem killed his mother, Aknam's talk about his son being aggressive and mad was proven right, and that made any doubt Sugoroku had about his son disappear.

You went there many times, begging him to do something to get Atem out and tell the police that his mother was raping Yugi that's why he killed her. Atem was going to be in jail for a very long time and he needed someone to get him free. And who's better than the well known Sugoroku Mutou who was Japan's hero?

However, he refused to set him free.

Flashback..

"Please Mr. Mutou, you have to help Atem! He will be in prison forever if you don't say that he was only defending his brother!"

Sugoroku watched the crying girl with sympathy. "Listen Anzu, I know that you love Atem and all, but he is a killer that's first. Second, no mother would try to rape her own son for god's sake! Aknam always told me that Atem had a mental problem and that he was working with a gang, stealing money, raping girls and threatening his own parents. He has to be punished!"

Anzu shook her head, kneeling before his knees. "I swear I was with him that day and I saw their mother trying to rape Yugi with her boyfriend! Why don't you believe me damn it!" She yelled angrily.

"I know that that woman was a cheater and that she deserved this since she had the guts to bring her boyfriend to the house and broke my son's heart, but that doesn't mean she would rape her own sons!"

"He didn't even care for her to begin with! He only kept her as his wife because she had money!" Anzu explained. "No man could accept his wife to bring her boyfriend to their house countless of times if he didn't have a very good reason behind it."

"Listen to yourself Anzu, despite of all what my son went through you're still accusing him of stealing his wife's money as well! How dare you?"

Anzu held Sugoroku's leg as she sobbed painfully. "Whatever you say but please help Atem. I'm begging you!"

"I'm helping him by keeping him there where he would think of everything he had done. Trust me, he'll thank me later for this." He said in a cruel tone as Anzu glared daggers at him.

End Of Flashback

That day, you came to us crying and saying that Sugoroku as usual trusted his son and thought we were deceiving him. Honda and I were really mad as Yugi sobbed saying that he was the reason of everything his brother was going through. We felt useless and Sugoroku used all his money and authority to prove that Atem killed his mother and needed punishment.

A whole year full of sadness passed after that with Atem still in prison. Throughout this year lots of things happened; maybe the most important things were us finally graduating high school and going to college, and the other was Yugi running out of the house after his father bet him up, causing him to end up in a wheelchair, paralyzed.

He ran to your house and was in a very bad shape, and we took him to the hospital where they told us that he could no longer walk on his feet. The devastating news broke our hearts and the only thing we could do was to try to keep the whacko father away.

One day he came to your place, and tried to take Yugi back to the house but you fought against him and he had drunken too much and hurt you. Honda and I were in job but we had a bad feeling and thankfully we reached the house before he succeeded in raping you. We told the police and filed many complaints about him but whenever they tried to take him, Sugoroku would interfere and we grew to despise him with a passion.

It was Atem's birthday all over again, when he got out of the prison after he killed the guards and ran away, compelling the inspector in an illogical way that his mother and boyfriend comitted suicide.

When Atem got out and went to Anzu, finding out about Yugi's handicap, he turned into a monster and he went to the house, killing his father and cutting every single part of his body and then he set fire to the house, burning it along with his father's remaining.

He wasn't the bit sorry about what he did and he sent Sugoroku a clear threat that if he dared to tell the police he will be the next on his list of victims. Sugoroku then disappeared and we no longer heard from him.

However, we were more concerned to understand how Atem got out and where he got this whole strength from.

Atem distanced himself from us again, trying to understand what has gotten into him and why on his birthday he became a crazy bloodthirsty monster, when he met a strange woman in a dark alley.

Her name was Ishizu, and she told him that he had a curse that will destroy him and all his beloved ones, one by one.

She explained to him about his curse. Apparently, he needed to kill one of his beloved ones every single year on his birthday in order to stay alive, and even if he refused to do so, the monster within him will awaken on his birthday and will control him and make him kill one of his close people for him to survive. He had the ability to compel humans into believing and doing stuff. That's how he got out jail.

Atem was baffled and he told the woman that she was crazy and that there was no such thing happening to him, and he went home so fragile and scared that day, contemplating on the woman's talk. He didn't tell a soul about that woman, well aside from you Anzu and you asked him to forget about this nonsense.

Another year rolled on with Atem living with Yugi at your house, and it was getting all happy again when Atem went to college with us. Honda and I were still working while Honda was studying Medicine, you were going to a dancing school since dancing was your dream, while Shizuka was a freshman. She still wanted Atem in any possible way.

One day, she tried to send you a guy to hurt you and you ended up in the hospital with a few wounds. Another time, she threatened you to leave Atem or else you were going to be sorry. And once she told Atem that you were cheating on him with a guy after she set you up and sent you somewhere telling you she wanted to meet you and Atem luckily reached in time to save you.

To our surprise though, you weren't mad at her. Even for once. You were always calming Atem down and telling him that she was still young and naïve and that she didn't mean to cause all these troubles to them. Honda and I were grateful to you Anzu for understanding and being so compassionate and big hearted.

It was nearing Atem's nineteenth birthday and you made him a perfect birthday party. Shizuka brought her friend and she asked him to kiss you and tell you he loved you. Atem got absolutely mad and he tried to slap my sister and you interfered trying to calm Atem down.

Yeah, a couple of days before the birthday Atem started to feel really weird and he got all sick and stayed in bed. He had severe pain and the doctor didn't have any good explanation to his condition.

In the party, Atem got to your bedroom feeling so outraged from my sister, but she followed him up and started to fight with him.

Flashback

A guy with long black hair and grey eyes, walked to Anzu who was filling up the glasses with drinks, smiling softly.

"Hey Anzu.." He greeted as she looked up at him, confused at the guy that she never met before knowing her name.

"Hey...Um, you're Shizuka's friend right?" She asked him, as she looked over at Shizuka who was eventually dancing with Atem after she pleaded to him nonstop.

"I love you..." He uttered before he brought her to him, kissing her. Anzu's eyes went wide and so did the others while Atem pushed Shizuka away, shaking with anger as he went to the guy and pulled him roughly away from Anzu, only to send him some kicks in his stomach and his face, ruining his pretty face. The guy fell on the floor, wiping away the blood coming off his nose before he was grabbed again by the outraged Atem and thrown out Anzu's house.

After he finished with him, he sent a deadly glare to Shizuka, going to her side when Jonouchi stood in her face to stop Atem from hurting her, while Anzu ran to hold Atem back.

"Babe it's okay!" Anzu gasped out, holding Atem tightly from his back.

"Let go Anzu!" He coldly ordered, not moving from Anzu's hug.

"It's not her fault that her friend kissed me!" She snarled, earning a growl from him.

"Don't be an idiot! We all know that she made him do that! Just like she did all those fucking schemes before!" He dryly yelled, shaking off from her hug as he went to face Jono who was blocking Shizuka from him.

"I'm sorry Atem, but please if you consider me a friend forgive my sister!" His eyes burned with sincere apology and Atem's hands clenched into fists as he breathed out in frustration, heading to his and Anzu's bedroom.

"Wait! Atem!" Shizuka called out, running after him as Jono tried to stop her but Anzu held him back, shaking her head. "It's okay Jono, I think she only wants to apologize."

Jono hung his head down in mortify, mumbling some sorries to Anzu who smiled friendly to him.

Up in the room, Shizuka went in, closing the door behind her. "Why are you treating me like this?" Shizuka burst. Atem was on the verge of losing his mind, sitting on the corner of the bed, feeling a massive headache.

"How dare you make that guy kiss Anzu? Have you completely lost your mind?"

"I love you! You should be in love with me not Anzu!" Shizuka blurt out, going to him while he pushed her away.

"I swear if you weren't Jono's sister I would have killed you long time ago!" He hissed but Shizuka seemed unaffected, although she felt a shiver run up her spine from the look he was giving her.

"I swear I'll keep on hurting her if you don't become mine! I might even kill her!" She threatened.

As soon as she said that, Atem's eyes were blood color. There were no signs of the calm and kindhearted person she knew and loved any longer. His eyes were cold and bloody and they meant one thing "death". Shizuka got horrified as she noted the smirk on his lips and his sharp teeth.

Before she had the ability to move, Atem lashed out and tackled Shizuka to the ground, grasping his both hands around her neck. Shizuka's breaths were coming out in short gasps as he was cutting off her air supply.

"Ye-yeah, go..for it...but remember you can't k-kill me be-because you love me!" Shizuka said, straining through her throat.

"Shut. Your. Mouth!" Atem's voice was far from normal, it was much deeper and colder than ever before. His eyes were filled with such intense hate towards this girl and he was taking immense pleasure into watching her and hearing the wheezing sounds escape from her.

"You can't kill me you love me! I saw you first you are mine!"

Atem tightened his grip on her, which was keeping her from speaking anymore. This was now his chance to finally take her out. "SHIZUKA...I. Wasn't. BLUFFING!" It wasn't Atem of the past anymore. He was the monster all again and his mind played every single thing Shizuka did to hurt his beloved Anzu, and he would only forgive her because of Jono and Anzu's begs. While all she did was to stay on the sidelines and watch them suffer from afar. It was now her turn to feel the suffering...and Atem would be the one to make sure she pays greatly.

"Oh my god Atem stop it!" Anzu cried out as she along with Jono and Honda tried to break his grasp away from Shizuka whose face was blue by the lack of oxygen as her tears streamed down her face.

"Atem! I'm begging you stop it!" Anzu yelled out, holding his face in her hands as she kissed his lips tenderly, feeling him struggle to push her away but she put all her strength in the kiss, tears prickling from her eyes. Atem's eyes gradually started to soften and his grip on Shizuka broke apart as he hugged Anzu to him, breaking the kiss.

"Are you okay honey?" Anzu stuttered, checking him up, wiping the sweat drops off his forehead as he nodded to her, releasing a sigh.

"NOOOO! SHIZUKAAAAA!" They both winced, looking behind them to see Jono holding his sister dearly to his chest as he sobbed in her hair. Her eyes widened and still and her mouth parted as she lied lifelessly in Jono's arms. Yugi had his hand shot to his mouth as he watched the scene with teary eyes remembering two year earlier the same bloodthirsty Atem that killed their mother to rescue him, while Honda cried pitifully holding Shizuka's hand and begging her to wake up.

Anzu was shaking, her heart rate sped up and her mind raced to understand what happened. He could never have killed Shizuka! Not her lovely Atem! This must be a nightmare and soon they'll wake up from it. Glancing at him, she saw the blank look he had on his face and was at a loss of what to do, her hand wobbled as it reached forward to cup Atem's cheek. Yet, he didn't respond to the gesture, his eyes still focused on his shaking hands, unable to believe what he had done.

End Of Flashback..

A couple of days passed after the incident and things were never the same anymore. I kept myself locked in my house as I washed the pain away with alcohol.

We made everything, the funereal, the death was all covered, she was buried, and we said that she died because of a sickness. I couldn't go to the police and accuse my friend of killing my own sister! It was too much to bear, too much for my mind to register and deep down I knew that he should be punished, but I couldn't.

Honda's heart was broken as well, and he didn't see anyone's face after the funeral as he got ready to leave the city and never come back again. Lots of crazy things happened so far and he could no longer deny it. Atem was a monster and they were all going to die one by one just like Anzu told them of what the woman said.

Yugi was unable to believe what Anzu have told them in the funeral. Atem was cursed and he was about to get them all killed on his birthday? But why? Who put that curse on him? Is he really going to kill them eventually?

Flashback

Atem was in the bedroom breaking everything in his face, getting out shuddering growls and jumping here and there destroying the entire room. Anzu watched him in mute horror as he thumbed the mirror, hurting himself badly.

"Stop it!" She yelled, going to him, but he pushed her away.

"Stay away from me Anzu!" He hissed.

"No! I'm not leaving you in this state." She objected, reaching over to him, only to get a slap that sent her flying away. Atem realized what he did and took a step back, staring at his hands with disbelieve and seeing tears gathering in his beloved's eyes.

"Oh my god! What's happening to me? I'm hurting Anzu!" He stuttered, his voice shaking and his legs buckling under him. Anzu reached over to hold him, falling with him on the floor.

"Anzu I'm scared!" He admitted. Hiding his face in her neck, he sobbed pitifully.

"Honey please calm down. We will find something to help you. It's okay!" She assured, kissing him quickly to ease his pain.

"How is that supposed to be okay? I killed Shizuka! I might kill you afterwards or kill my own brother! It's not okay. I'm a monster!" He bellowed. Anzu cringed, looking away. "I don't want to hurt you. Please stay away from me."

Anzu shook her head in negative, hugging him tight. "You're the only person I care about in this life. You're my soul mate. I can't let you go." She sobbed on his chest, holding on to him. "We still have a year ahead. We will find a solution so don't give up." She looked up with hope at him. Atem held her face in his hands, shutting his eyes.

"Why do you want to risk your life for me?"

"Because I know you'd do the same to me." She mumbled, kissing his forehead.

"How am I supposed to look into Jonouchi's eyes again? Or even Honda who was madly in love with Shizuka? Even Yugi thinks I'm a monster now!" He whispered faintly, shedding a few more tears in her hair.

"It's okay. Time heals all the wonds and I would never leave you. We'll get through this together." She promised him with a firm look, but inside of her she was unsure of what to do to stop the curse.

End Of Flashback

After that day, things changed gradually between Atem and his group. I barely gathered with them or even got a glimpse of their faces. You would come along with Yugi to check on me but I would refuse to see you, while Honda went to America to continue Medicine there after his father died.

We weren't the same anymore. Everyone drifted apart, sadness filled our hearts and it seemed that what happened broke the special bound we had made by time.

But you never gave up on us Anzu. You tried your best to make us meet again, just like the old times. You stayed by Yugi's side encouraging him and helping him with his studies and eventually got him a girlfriend. He was all cheerful and happy that a girl would be in love with someone with a handicap like him. And he couldn't thank you enough.

You came to my house everyday to bring me food, and to check up on me. I was barely going to work and my health was dropping down. But you helped me so much and stayed by my side without asking me even for once about coming to see Atem or bringing up my sister's subject.

Atem dropped college and was stuck at home or tried to search for the woman again but to no avail. He distanced himself from you so much, and he would always be spaced out, barely talk to you, or to Yugi as he kept himself away from everyone. He tried to make people hate him. Probably if he acted bad and ignored you and his other important people it would eventually end in saving you. That's what he thought. It was like this until one day that we could never forget.

It had been exactly eight months since Shizuka died and we got separated. Atem finally ran into the woman and she told him that there was no cure to the curse and that he should kill his loved ones in order to survive. She told him that there could be a way to help his friends but there was no way the curse could be stopped. He was forever going to be a monster.

That exact day, Atem gathered his things and decided to disappear seeing that Yugi was with his girlfriend and you were in the dancing school. When you came back, jumping with happiness that you got accepted to be the main dancer in the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival show, you were shocked to see Atem packing up.

Flashback

Tears formed in Anzu's azure eyes as she watched how Atem averted her gaze, holding the suitcase in his left hand as the right one turned into a tight fist.

"What are you doing?" She asked slowly.

"You know what I'm doing Anzu." He answered steadily.

"Yes I goddamn know what you are doing! You are betraying me!" She cried out, tears overflowing from her eyes. Atem's heart ached at the way she cried, but he couldn't help it. He needed to do that in order to save her and the others.

"I need to do this! I have to keep myself away from you." He explained slowly hoping that she would understand.

She didn't move or utter a word as he shut his eyes closed to not see how she sobbed. Cursing under his breath, he huffed angrily. Why did all of this have to happen? Couldn't they live happily just like ordinary people?

He left the thought out, passing by her as he smiled softly. "Honey, I love you with all my heart that's why I'm doing this." He tried to reason with her as he wiped away her tears.

"We promised to stay together and I promised to never leave you! It's my goddamned life and I don't have a problem if you killed me in the end. I'll die happily knowing that I didn't break my promise. I beg you Atem, don't leave me alone. You'll be killing me this way!" She broke into a crying fit, sobbing so heart achingly as Atem couldn't watch any longer and had tears in his eyes, pulling her into his arms lovingly.

"Don't leave me...don't..leave me!" She said through her sobs, sniffing as she gripped him firmly, holding him like dear life. Atem was so touched by her talk, he could never live without her even for a day. He loves her with all his heart. But if he hurt her one day, he will never ever forgive himself. God, what was he supposed to do?

"Live your life Anzu and forget about me. Fall in love again with an ordinary, stable person that doesn't think of killing you and be happy." He chuckled humorlessly at what he said, but Anzu never did, as her sobs only became more violent.

But he had to be cruel, so he pushed her away, taking the suitcase again and jumping down the staircase in a hurry wanting to be away from her. He would weaken and stay if she kept on begging him like this. He had to run away quick.

"Atem!" Anzu screamed, freezing him at his spot. "I swear that I'll kill myself if you leave!"

Atem was paralyzed as he turned around seeing her pulling a knife close to her veins ready to cut them as his eyes stirred with complete terror.

"Stop this fucking nonsense Anzu, drop that knife!" He ordered, his voice shaking just like his body was.

"If you leave I will kill myself!" She repeated sternly, her eyes filled with determination and Atem knew she would literally kill herself with no hesitation if he left.

"Okay! I'll do whatever you want but please put that knife down!" He begged, round sweat drops gathering on his forehead as he felt his breath about to stop and his heart racing like it's about to explode.

"You're lying! You will run after I drop the knife!" She yelled, her tears still cascading nonstop down her cheeks.

"I swear to do everything you want! Throw that fucking knife away Anzu please! Please I'd die if anything happened to you!" He couldn't maintain himself anymore as he let his tears crawl down his face, ending on his knees in front of her. "Please my love, I'll do whatever you want!"

"Stop distancing yourself from us! I want to have our group back. I've tried all I can but I failed to bring you back together! What is there for me to do to bring you again together?!" She yelled in frustration, sobbing loudly as she pressed the knife to her veins, fresh blood ran out severally as Atem watched in horror.

"Goddamn it Anzu get that knife down!" A voice called and it was none other than Yugi and Jonouchi. She smiled seeing them both as Atem ran to her and pushed the knife away, capturing Anzu in his arms before she fell on the floor. Blood pouring nonstop from her wrist as her vision became blurry.

"You came Jonouchi..." She mumbled in a low voice.

"What da fuck do ya think you did? What were ya thinking?" He yelled at her scolding her but she giggled happily, trying to keep her eyes opened.

"We're together again. That's all I care about! Thank goodness..." She smiled, closing her eyes, drifting into darkness.
