Okee dokee guys, prepare for a fluffy chapter.
XxYTTxX: Yeah for speechlessness?
SingingCupcake: I'm sure if Scene were real she would appreciate your support.
Night Owl Revolution: That was the best-executed Frozen reference I've seen yet. Well done.
Chelsea(Guest): Thank you dear!
Scene finds that relaxing in the park is better than anything she and Intern 2 have done together. After work on Monday, Intern 2 asked her what she wanted to do. She told him;
"Meet me at the park off Adams Street in an hour. I'll handle everything else."
One of the best decisions she ever made.
"Here, catch." He says, taking a mini-marshmallow from the colorful bag she brought. She opens her mouth, and he tosses it. It bounces off her nose onto the blanket. She giggles as Intern 2 grabs another one to try again. When she misses three times more, she reaches her hand out, laughing.
"Give me the bag, your turn to be embarrassed." She says. He hands her the marshmallows, and she pulls one out. When she tosses it, he catches it in his mouth, smiling. "Aw, no fair."
"What, 'cause I'm better at it?" He teases. She scoffs, pulling out three marshmallows stuck together.
"Try and catch this!" She throws it, and he succeeds again, grinning at laughing. The two keep the playing up, until somehow she finds herself resting her head on his shoulder as they lay, watching the leaves of the tree that is giving them shade sway gently back and forth with the wind. He eagerly starts going on about types of clouds that they can see though the branches, floating through the pale pink sky as the sun sets, and, although she doesn't know when, she drifts off.
"Hey, Norma, wake up." Intern 2's soft voice reaches her through hazy dreams of marshmallows and serenades. She opens her mouth, but he hushes her softly, then points subtly at a tree. It takes her sleepy head, combined with the darkness now that the sun has set, a few seconds to focus, but she sees it. A family of robins gathered as one baby stands on the edge of the nest, clearly getting ready to take its first flight. When it takes off, another baby chirps loudly for its brother, then follows. The picture is charming, but reminds Scene of something else. A new bird nest, on an old building. The MyMusic building. Back when Scene first saw Intern 2 again. She turns and looks at him abruptly, suddenly worrying, despite feeling his body near hers, that he's gone. He's startled by her swift movements after watching something so peaceful, but his gaze is soft as ever. She laughs nervously, then feels a yawn overtake her. Intern 2 stands, then offers help up.
"C'mon. Let's get home so we can sleep."
Scene paws out, expecting to feel Intern 2, or grass beneath a blanket. Instead she's met with her bed. She sighs and sits up, and now recognizes the alarm going off. She grunts in disappointment, forgetting that Intern 2 took her home and it's Tuesday morning. Slowly, as she gets ready for work, the scene with the robin's nest comes back to her.
"He called me Norma..." She thinks out loud. Something about it makes her heart flutter; the notion that he's moving on from the past, where their relationship came from, is going to make it easier for her. It'll take some getting used to, but, as she gets in her car, she decides that she'll try to call him Melvin. Yes. Because he is a person outside of what Indie said he was.
And so is she.
For the first hour of work, which goes slowly as usual, Scene tries to find a way to tell Alfred about her decision, but since he doesn't know about MyMusic, she decides it's best to keep this between herself and Int- Melvin. And Melvin.
"Alright, here are your fliers," Scene smiles as she hands them to the intern who brings peppermints.
"Thank you." He nods and leaves. Scene turns around to find Alfred unwrapping a peppermint carefully.
"So nice." He says as he tosses the peppermint in his mouth.
"Yeah." Scene sighs. She looks around. "Hey, have you seen Trisha?"
"Oh, she's home sick." Alfred says. Scene looks at her feet, and decides to do something nice. So when work ends, she grabs three peppermints out of the remaining five, and jumps into her car. She stops at the grocery store, buys soup and other things, and heads to Trisha's place.
When she reaches Trisha's apartment, she remembers the last time she was here. It was for work purposes, but she can't remember exactly what. Nonetheless, she knocks gently on Trisha's door. When Trisha answers, the brunette is groggy, her eyes are red, and she's wearing a giant hoodie and sweat pants, yet still has a blanket wrapped around herself.
"Nor'a? Why are you 'ere?" She asks, voice clogged up.
"Alfred said you're sick, and I've got all the time in the world." She says. Trisha motions her in.
"I really can take care of myself." She says, sitting back on the couch next to a pile of tissues.
"No you can't." Scene decides. Trisha scoffs, but lets Scene heat up the chicken soup she bought, make her hot chocolate, and pour her a glass of ginger ale for her stomach. As Trisha eats, Scene clears away the tissues, brushing them into a trash can then washing her hands. She walks back out from the bathroom, and sees Trisha's tissue roll has run out. She reaches into her bag and pulls out two out of five boxes she bought. After she hands them to Trisha and sits down next to the sick coworker, Trisha stares at the box a moment, then abruptly hugs Scene, tears in her voice.
"Thank you for all this," She says. "I really needed some help."
"Of course." Scene pats her shoulder, and Trisha pulls away.
"You don't understand how much it means to me to have someone looking out for me." Her eyes have teared up, and Scene realizes this was a good decision.
After spending the better part of her evening taking care of Trisha, Scene heads home. She falls on her couch, and watches nothing on the ceiling, and just remembers the look of gratitude on Trisha's face. She obviously hasn't had someone around to help her in a while. And Scene is happy to be the one who is finally there.
So, I have already decided I will do a sequel. That's done. But how would you all feel if Alfred and/or Trisha were involved a bit more in the sequel than they will be/have been in this story? Or should it focus completely on Melvin and Norma? OPINIONS PLEASE
Also, for the rest of this story I will alternate between their real names and MyMusic names, but for the sequel they will be referred to as Melvin and Norma. :)
