Hey there
I'm so sorry I haven't updated!
I've had this chapter finished for a while, but I wasn't able to post.
It's definitely not my favorite chapter
I do hope you enjoy though :)
Chapter 12
It was about 5:00 in the evening when I came to the realization that I had school the next day. I needed to prepare. I found Mrs. Hudson downstairs and asked her if I could shower. She gave me a fluffy bath towel and sent me to her bathroom after returning upstairs to grab anything I needed. I took a hot shower and cleansed myself. It seemed like so long since I'd showered and I felt incredibly dirty. In reality, I'd just showered the previous morning at the hotel. A lot had happened since then, though. Once I was clean, I turned off the water and exited the shower. I wrapped the fluffy, pink towel around my tiny body. I stood in front of the mirror looking at my face. Did I really look like my dad?
After dressing myself, I exited the bathroom with the towel wrapped around my head. I headed upstairs to my room. On my way there, I passed Sherlock sitting in his chair with his finger tips to his chin. He didn't say anything to me or even look my way. Once I was in my room, I brushed out my hair and threw the towel in a laundry hamper Mrs. Hudson left in the corner. It wasn't long until Mrs. Hudson knocked on the door to invite me to dinner.
"We're going out." She told me. "It was Sherlock's idea."
"Oh that sounds great."
Once we returned, I found my room. It was almost 10:00 and I had school the next day. I changed into my pajamas and climbed into my bed. I texted my mom before setting my alarm.
Me: Hey, Mom. John's land lady, Mrs. Hudson, said I can stay here for however long I need. Can I please?
Her: Fine. But I want you to be careful. Don't get too comfortable. You don't know her that well.
Me: I know. I'll be fine. :)
Her: Alright, love you.
Me: Love you too.

The next morning, I woke up the next morning to my alarm at 7:00. I jumped out of bed. It was Tuesday. My first day of school. Normally, I wouldn't be so excited, but I couldn't wait! I grabbed a pair of colored skinny jeans and a Doctor Who t-shirt. I wanted to make friends and I figured it wouldn't be too hard to find someone who shared my love of the tv show. Especially not here.
I brushed my teeth and hair in the bathroom. I wasn't sure what I needed for school so I just grabbed my backpack and a book. As I made my way into the living room, I saw Sherlock perched in his chair.
"Tea?" He pointed to a cup on the table next to the chair opposite of him. I set my backpack next to it and took a seat.
"Sure." I took a sip.
"First day of school, then?"
"Yeah."
I finished my tea and set the cup back on the table. I checked my phone for the time. 7:30. School started in 30 minutes. I wasn't sure exactly where the school was or how long it would take to get there in a cab so I figured I should leave early. I stood up and collected my things. Just as I was putting on my coat, Sherlock spoke.
"Eden, do you know where London Central is?" He asked. He must have done his magic deducing thing, or whatever it was that he did. I'd never even told him which school I was going to.
"Umm no. How'd you know?"
"Well, you're leaving extremely early. And you've only been in London for two days. I just assumed."
"Oh...well then, yes. I have no idea where I'm going. I was just going to take a cab."
"No need. I'll walk you. It's not far from here."
I was shocked, but I agreed. He stood up and walked across the room where a long coat was hanging on a hook. He'd worn the coat the night before when we went out for dinner, but today, he paired it with a blue scarf. He held open the door and I stepped out. He followed.
It was chilly outside. The wind was blowing and I kept having to push my hair behind my ears to prevent it from blowing in my face. He walked quite fast and I had to take larger steps to keep up. After a few blocks of silence, my curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to know more about Sherlock.
"Do you have any family?" I asked. He sighed. It wasn't a depressed sigh, but more of an annoyed sigh. Was he annoyed by my question. I just didn't know how to talk to this man.
"Ah yes. My parents, wonderful people, but quite daft. I don't see them often." He explained. "And my brother, we don't get along. He was a rubbish older brother. I prefer not to talk much about him."
"Oh." I wasn't quite sure how to respond. Before I could find anything to say, he stopped walking. I hadn't been paying attention to where we were going, but I quickly realized that we were at the school. It was a large building. A sign read London Central Secondary School.
"Here it is. I presume you can find your way back to Baker Street." Before I could object, he turned and was off, heading back in the direction we came. I stood there for a second, but quickly turned and walked towards the large front doors. The main office was right inside. A woman with brown hair pulled into a tight bun sat behind the tall desk. She had glasses balanced on the tip of her nose as she looked down at her computer screen.
"Can I help you?" She asked once she looked up.
"Uh yes. Today is supposed to be my first day."
"What's your name?"
"Eden." I paused. I'd always been Eden Freenan, but that was Wayne's name. I figured that Freenan was the name my mother used when she enrolled me. "Eden Freenan."
She typed on her computer then began to stand up.
"Right this way, Darling." She walked out from behind the desk and I followed her deeper into the offices. She stopped at a door that read Headmaster's Office. She knocked on the door then poked her head in and said something I didn't quite hear. After a few moments, she opened the door all the way and motioned for me to enter. As I walked into the office, I saw a man sitting behind a large wooden desk. Even sitting down, he was quite tall. He had brown hair that was combed neatly and he wore a suit. He looked up at me.
"Come in. Sit down." He pointed to a chair in front of his neat desk. I sat. "I'm Andrew Russels, the headmaster here at London Central."
The meeting didn't take to terribly long. We looked over my grades from my previous school and he explained all the rules here. He also made sure I knew that there was a school uniform. I felt so embarrassed. Normally, I would have felt very uncomfortable in a situation like this, but he was very nice. Finally, he handed me my schedule and sent me off. I stopped by the main desk once again where the woman, whose name I learned was Mrs. Pam, gave me directions to my first class and a pass to have all of my teachers sign. She also explained that I would be given a locker and a polo shirt with the school crest on the pocket sometime this week. Then I left the office with my backpack over my shoulder and entered my new school. Students were swarming the halls, all wearing the required white polo and black bottoms. The only splash of color came from the occasional colorful jacket worn by random students. I checked my phone. 8:13. My first class, English, started at 8:20. I headed in that direction and finally found it with 3 minutes to spare.
How was it? Did you think it was okay?
