When I got back to the apartment I was finally able to just let it out and cry. I sank to the floor and just sat there for what felt like hours. As upset as I was I had to get up and feed Blue and take him for a walk. Once getting back I changed into a pair of baggy sweat pants and T-shirt and made my way towards the refrigerator. Walking past the bathroom I saw my reflection in the mirror. I looked horrible. My eyes were red and puffy. Then I looked down and saw what I was wearing. I didn't realize the baggy sweat pants and shirt I put on was both John's. This started the tears again. I was too lazy to change so I just continued on my journey to drown my sorrows. I grabbed a bottle of red wine out of the cabinet, the cookie and cream ice cream out of the freezer along with the potato chips on the counter. I made my way to the couch and turned to the lifetime movie channel and found a movie about a husband leading a double life and his mistress trying to kill him.

"Man I forgot the wine glass and the spoon." I mumbled.

I looked back to the kitchen and decided it was just too far away. So I decided to use the chips as my spoon and just drink straight from the wine bottle. It was just my luck that movie after movie was about a man keeping secrets. I guess after a while all my crying became too much for Blue. He left me on the couch and went to lay on his bed. Maybe it was me yelling at the T.V. that became too much for him. But my sweet pup never took his eyes off of me from his bed.

"Athena...Athena, are you okay?" Linda said shaking me awake.

"Huh, what." I said

"You look horrible what's wrong?"

"Gee thanks."

"Well you do. What happened? Did something happen with John, is he okay?"

The tears started to flow again. Linda moved the melted ice cream, potato chips and wine bottle off the couch and sat next to me. She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me close.

"Come on Athena. You have to talk to me. That's the only way I can try to help. What happened?"

I got up and walked over to my bag that was still by the front door and pulled the envelope out that had the police report and pictures of Grace. I handed it to Linda and let her see with her own eyes.

"What the heck is this?" She said shuffling through the pictures then landing on the police report.

"Athena No. This can't be true. John would never. He couldn't... I mean he wouldn't... Would he?" She said with a confused look on her face.

"I met the woman in the pictures earlier today. She confirmed it and that is not the only thing." I said trying to control the tears.

"What could possibly be worse than this?" Linda said pointing to the papers in her hand

"He has a son."

"WHAT?!" Linda yelled almost jumping off the couch.

"His name is Jonathon. He has these big blue eyes."

"Just like John?" Linda asked

"So blue." I said crying.

Blue jumped off his bed and ran to the couch and jumped into my lap. He laid there licking my hand.

"Oh Athena. I am so sorry. Have you talked to him?"

"No, when he called last night I ignored his call and did not respond to his text messages."

"He will probably be calling again soon?"

Right after the words left Linda's mouth my phone began to ring. The ringtone was John's entrance music to the ring.

"Let it ring." I said

"Athena you need to talk to him about this. I mean you guys are about to get married."

"I'm not so sure about that."

"If you wont talk to him I will."

Linda walked over to my bag and answered my phone. I could tell she was ready to let him have it.

"Yes!"

"Um... is this Linda?" John asked confused.

"Yes."

"Is Athena there? I've been trying to reach her. She hasn't answered any of my calls or messages. I'm starting to get worried. Can you put her on the phone?"

"I don't think that's a good idea John. She doesn't want to speak to you."

"Ha Ha.. Linda very funny. But I'm a little pressed for time. I am about to board a plane."

"Well she is extremely upset right now."

"What happened? Tell me."

"If you want to know what happened to her you need to ask you Ex Grace." Linda said then hung up the phone.

I just sat there and cried. My phone rang again and again. Then I heard the beeps from my phone letting me know I was receiving text message after text message. Then Linda's phone began to ring. She looked at me.

"Don't answer!"

"I'm here for you." She said.

"I'm heading to bed."

I grabbed my phone and headed to the bedroom with Blue close on my heels. While laying there I looked at my phone. I had five voicemails from John and four text messages.

~first voicemail~

"Babe, are you okay? I've been trying to reach you since last night. Call me. I love you."

~second voicemail~

"Baby, call me. I am starting to get worried."

~third voicemail~

"What is Linda talking about? Call me please."

~fourth voicemail~

"Athena call me. We have to talk. I'm confused about what's going on. Babe call me."

~fifth voicemail~

"I'm worried call me."

~first text message~

"Babe, call me"

~second text message~

"What's going on. I called you several times. What's Lin talking about?"

~third text message~

"Babe we need to talk. Don't shut me out."

~Fourth text message~

"Babe call me. Please! I'm on my way"

After reading the second text message I turned my phone off. I was too tired to read anymore. I curled under the covers with Blue close to me. Yet again I had another sleepless night. That night I found myself dreaming of a Blue eyed little boy pulling John away from me.

The next morning I woke up and saw John sitting at the edge of my bed. I forgot that he had a copy of Linda's apartment key also. He looked as bad as I did last night. His eyes were bloodshot red. Blue was sitting in his lap. I was feeling so many emotions. I wanted to jump out the bed and just curl up in John's arms and pretend we were the only people in the world. But what I learned yesterday kept me from doing that. I could see the pain in his eyes and he could see that pain in mine.
