We both sat there for a few minutes just staring into each others eyes. Trying to read what the other was thinking. Finally I couldn't take it anymore. I broke down and started cried.

"Babe, I've been worried about you. What's going on?" John said reaching out to me. I leaned away.

"Why... how could you do what you did?"

"What are you talking about? I'm lost." John said concerned and confused.

I started to feel angry about the situation. Angry about John not acknowledging his past wrongs.

"Just tell the truth John." I yelled

"And what truth is that?" John yelled back.

I got up and brought John the pictures of Grace and the police report.

"Take a look." I said handing it over.

"What's this? Is this Grace? What happen to her and why does she look like that?"

"Have you forgotten what you've done." I accused.

"You don't think I would do something like that. You know me?" John said with hurt in his eyes

"I thought I did." I replied just as hurt.

I put the police report on top of the pictures and pointed to John's name.

"What's this? This never happened." John said reading in disbelief.

"There's no point in denying it. I met with Grace yesterday. She confirmed it. Among other things."

"There is nothing to confirm. And what do you mean by other things?"

"Along with meeting Grace. She introduced me to someone."

"Who?"

"Your son!"

"That's BS! I don't have a son and I never put my hands on Grace. She's just someone I went out with once or twice. Nothing more I swear that to you."

"What reason does she have to lie? The poor woman was even crying when I showed her the pictures."

"When you showed her the pictures? Where did you get them from."

"Does it even matter?"

"Yes it does! All this is a lie. You have to believe me." John said.

His eyes started to get glassy and I could tell he was extremely hurt by all of this.

"Michael, he gave this to me." I said pointing to the pictures.

"You're still in contact with him?" John said in disbelief.

"No...yes. Not in that way though."

"That way? You saw what happen in Canada, and you still talk to him."

"Its not like that. I swear." I found myself pleading.

"How could you trust anything he says. He's been trying to get you back since before we got together. You didn't even ask me. You just shut me out and assumed I would do those horrible things."

"Grace also said it was true."

"She is lying. I have no clue why she would, but I plan to get to the bottom of this. Then we have to see where that leaves the two. I'm going to a hotel."

John grabbed his bag that I just noticed was sitting by the bedroom door.

"John wait." I pleaded through tears.

He stopped but didn't turn around.

"What would you have done if you were in my place?" I cried.

"I would have come to you. I would have trusted you and our love. Especially with all the crap we've been through already." John said hurt.

"I'm sorry, I should have but..."

Blue ran up to John jumping by his feet. He picked him up.

"I'll see you boy. Take care of mommy for me." John said

He put Blue down and headed out the door. I really wanted to run after him and beg him to come back. As far as I got was to the bedroom door. I sank down to the floor once again with the tears pouring down my face. Blue came and sat on my lap. Linda came out of her room.

"I think I made a mistake." I cried.

Linda sat down next to me on the floor.

"What have I done? I think there won't be a wedding."

"Just give John sometime. What happened is a lot to deal with and he needs to process the situation. But I promise you this. We will get to the bottom of what the truth is. Whether John did those horrible things or Michael is behind all this madness. And I feel Michael is."

"Mr. King, Grace is here to see you."

"Thank you Rachel. Send her in." Michael said speaking into the phone on his desk.

"Hello Mr. King. Michael."

"So you wanted to see me. Good job. The crying really added to the story."

"I really don't feel right about any of this, what we are doing."

"What we are doing? What I am doing is trying to save a beautiful person from making a huge mistake. What you're doing is earning a paycheck."

"He was a nice guy. I don't want to ruin the life he built."

"Remember the deal we made. If all goes well you will move out of your rat infested apartment and you can put that kid of yours in a private school."

"But he never hurt me. And all we really had was a one night stand. Nothing more. I didn't get pregnant until two months later. What happens if he asks for a DNA test. Then what?" Grace said frantically.

"Just play your role and I will handle everything else."

Michael got up and walked around his desk. He stood in front of Grace staring her directly in the eye.

"This is the last time you reach out to me. Do you understand? I've instructed you as to what your role is." He said in a low tone.

Michael started to rub his hand up Grace's arm then he squeezed.

"That hurts." Grace mumbled.

Michael started to squeeze a little harder. Grace started to tear up.

"I understand." She whispered.

"What was that? I couldn't hear you."

"I...I understand." Grace tried to say as normal as possible.

"Remember what I told you. Oh and If you ever speak to me again you address me as Mr. King. Not by my first name. Now get out of my office."
