I woke up the next morning to a text from John.
"Good morning beautiful. I hope you had a good night's sleep. I can't wait to watch you walk down the aisle."
I decided to text him back as well.
"I can't wait for the honeymoon."
"Keep talking like that and I'll have to pay you a visit before the wedding." John text back.
When I walked into the kitchen I saw that my grandma had made me a huge breakfast.
"What's all this?"
"Today is going to be an extremely hectic day for you so I wanted to make sure you start it off right." Grandma said giving me a hug.
On the table sat homemade biscuits, cinnamon oatmeal, fresh fruit, sausage and bacon.
"Everything looks delicious." I said sitting down.
"Oops, I almost forgot the honey butter for the biscuits."
"If I eat all this I won't be able to fit into my dress." I said laughing
After breakfast I made my way to the hotel along with Linda and my grandmother. I decided to use the complimentary massage I was promised at the hotel. All three of us had deep tissue massages, facials and I got a full body scrub so my skin was extra soft. The perfect way to relax. Now it was time to start getting ready. For the day I hired a makeup artist and hair stylist. I decided to wear my hair in soft loose curls pulled back off my face. My makeup I kept pretty simple. I wanted to look like myself and refreshed not like a drag queen. Linda's hair was going to be in an up style with curls hanging to her left shoulder. While she was waiting for her curls to set I had to ask her for a favor.
"Lin, I need a favor. I would do it myself but I'm not suppose to see John before the wedding."
"Oh gosh. What is it?"
"I need you to take this to John." I said pulling a box and card out of my bag.
"What is it?"
"A watch. Make sure you stay and watch him open it. Also make sure he looks on the back of the watch."
"Okay but can I finish getting my hair done first."
"It will be too late then. Please can you go now?" I asked
"But I still have my hair in curlers and my makeup isn't done."
"Pleaseeeeeeeee! You'll be my favorite maid of honor." I said giving her a huge smile.
"Fine give me the damn box. I better not run into Matt while I look like this." Linda said pretending to be mad.
Linda put on one of the hotel robes and headed for the elevator mumbling to herself the whole way. She took the elevator three floors down.
"Thank goodness I managed to avoid running into anyone. Just got to make it to the room. I can really care less if Cena sees me looking crazy. I just pray Matt doesn't." Linda thought to herself.
Linda knocked on the door and was met with a surprise.
"Li...Linda?" Matt said opening the door.
"Matt what are you doing here?" Linda said trying to hide her face and hair unsuccessfully behind the box.
"Athenaaaaaaaaa!" Linda screamed
John came walking up behind Matt only wearing his suit pants.
"Woe, Linda what happen to your hair?" John said trying not to laugh.
John could tell that was the wrong question to ask by the death glare Linda gave him. Matt was trying to muffle his laugh with a fake cough.
"Is there something in your throat Mr. Hardy?" Linda said in a very stern voice.
"No I think it's all the dust in here." Matt said trying not to grin while waving his hand in there air. "So dusty. Someone open a window."
"Sure it is."
"What's all the commotion?" Jeff said walking to the door with Randy behind him.
"Woe what happen to your hair ?" Randy said
"One more person ask me that and I swear I'm going to scream." Linda said
"Who's at the door?" Someone called out from inside the hotel room.
"For your own safety don't ask." Jeff said laughing
"John take your gift so I can go crawl under a rock already." Linda said handing John the box and card.
John open the box and saw the watch Athena had designed for him. It was made of the same material that his wedding band was made of. Titanium. The band of the watch was a charcoal grey and the face of the watch was a midnight blue. There were small diamonds on the face of the watch instead of the numbers. On the back of the watch the wedding date was engraved along with John's and my initials.
"That's a beautiful watch." Randy said.
"I'll read the card alone. Thank you for bringing this down to me. Tell my bride I love it. I have something for you to take to Athena as well and something for you and grandma."
"I hope it's worth this embarrassment." Linda said opening the small box that had her name on it. Once open she completely forgot how she looked.
"I think I'm gonna cry." Linda said looking in amazement.
In the box was a white gold necklace with a tear drop diamond hanging from it.
"This is beautiful. Thank you so much. I need to hurry back and show Athena." Linda said giving John a hug and giving the rest of the guys the death glare.
"Tell her I love her and miss her. Also give her this." John handed Linda a bag.
"I will and I know she feels the same way."
As Linda was walking out of the room Matt grabbed her arm.
"Hey, sorry back there. I was surprised."
"How do you think I felt with everyone laughing."
"I'm sorry. I was caught of guard. But don't think that changes how I feel about you."
"Keep talking." Linda said
"I think I'm falling for you. Even with the crazy hair."
Linda gave Matt a jab to the stomach then a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I think I am falling for you also. Maybe I'll save you a dance later."
Linda made her way back to the room Athena was getting ready in. Athena was sitting by the window staring into space.
"Are okay?" Linda asked
"Just taking a minute to let it all sink in. Grandma just went down to check on the wedding space and reception hall."
Linda walked across the room and sat next to me.
"It's been a long road to get here but you will appreciate it all the much more."
"I know and I do."
"John wanted me to give this to you. I can only imagine what it is because of the necklace he gave to me."
"You like the necklace?"
"You helped pick it out didn't you."
"I can't take credit for that Lin. That was all John. He has great taste." I said while opening the bag.
I pulled out a card. It said:
Athena,
I love you. I don't think there are enough words that can express the way I feel about you. I've been told by other men that the wedding day can be scary. But for me it's the opposite. I can't wait to see my best friend, lover and future mother of my children walk down the aisle and finally become my wife. I love you.
Your groom,
John
At this point I wasn't even thinking about what else was in the bag. I was just trying not to cry. Blue must have known because he came over and sat by my feet. I looked into the bag and pulled out two black boxes. Both with a tulip attached. When I open the first box it was a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet. I couldn't believe my eyes.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. This is too much."
"You still have another to open. And that one is bigger."
I open the second box. And thought I would pass out. Looking back at me was a beautiful diamond necklace and diamond earrings. I was stunned at how beautiful it was and the way the light reflected on it. The best part was they were simple and elegant."
"Wow!" Linda said
"Wow is right."
I texted John thanking him for the gifts but telling him it was to much. He text back he loved the watch and that I deserve the jewelry. We said our final I love you.
"Sweet heart it's time to put on your dress." My grandma said walking into the room.
