A Simple Changing Act Of Kindness
Chapter One: Meeting A Friend Again

Mewtwo

I'd been asleep for so long when I finally woke up and opened my eyes. I saw people outside of the tube I was stuck in. I looked around and saw a familiar looking human girl in a tube near me. She had bluish green hair wore no clothes like most humans did.

I wondered why she seemed so familiar before I decided that the best way to find out was to get out of this tube. To do that, I took the direct approach: using my psychic powers to break it.

At once, everyone began running around frantically, even more so when the glass of the girl's tube broke. Now that her eyes were open, I got a good look at them. Before they were open, I would have said they were brown for some reason, but now I could clearly see that they were different colors: the right one was purple and the left one was green.

Weird. It was as if I knew her from somewhere, but forgot about her for some reason. I tried searching my mind, but just when it seemed I was getting close to something, I hit a barrier, like someone had forcibly taken the memories of the girl from me.

Finally, the one who seemed to be the lead scientist made everyone stop running around. "Quiet. Let us hear its psychic powers." He ordered.

"Psychic powers?" I echoed.

"For years, we struggled to successfully clone a Pokémon to prove our theories." He explained. "But you're the first specimen to survive."

"And the girl?" I wanted to know. "Who is she?"

"I'm Amber." The girl spoke up, looking at the lead scientist, who I could see a slight resemblance to. "But last time I checked I was seven, not twelve. What happened Daddy?"

"I was able to bring you back, but to do that, I had to use DNA from the Legendary Pokémon Deoxys, a Psychic Type native to the Hoenn region. That is why your eyes are now two different colors." He informed her. "You've been asleep for five years and only just now woke up. And as for you," He turned to me, gesturing at a plaque which contained a carving of a cat-like thing that looked kind of like me. "This is Mew, and from it, we created you, Mewtwo."

"So is that all I am? A copy? Mew's shadow?"

"No. You are greater than Mew. Improved through the power of human ingenuity." He answered. I didn't particularly like the way he said it, like he was somehow superior to me. "We used the most advanced techniques to develop your awesome psychic powers."

"So I'm simply the end result of your experiment. What will happen now that the experiment is over?" I questioned, despite knowing I probably wouldn't like the answer.

"Oh our experiment isn't over yet." He said happily. "Now the real testing begins." He turned to Amber. "Amber, come along. We need to find you some clothes. Also, don't talk to Mewtwo. She's merely a Pokémon, and is beneath you."

I glared at him. "You're going to tell your own daughter who she can or can't associate with? After you've only just managed to bring her back to life?"

He glared back at me. "Silence, Pokémon."

"No I won't be." I snapped. "You will never control me!"

"I won't have to." He said primly. "Giovanni will."

"No one will control me." I said resolutely. "No one. Not human, not Pokémon. However, if you'd like to try, be my guest. It will end very badly for you."

Still glaring at me, the lead scientist yanked Amber by the arm and dragged her to go find clothes. She came back a few minutes later, dressed in a white dress and looked absolutely miserable. I wished that I could remember why she seemed so familiar to me, and that I could do something, anything, to help. Her father was being a real jerk by telling her that she couldn't talk to me just because I was a Pokémon. I was probably the only other one here that was even close to her age. I didn't know how old I was, exactly, but by my figuring we were about the same age. Even if we weren't, we still had to be closer than the scientists who were all (probably) about the same age as her father, give or take a few years.

She looked at me with her dual colored eyes as if she were begging for me to help her somehow. I felt something brush my mind, and I stared at her. Still, I nonetheless allowed her into my mind where she showed me a memory of when I was very young. I played with the cloned Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander, and Amber herself before her father came up with the idea to use Deoxys' DNA to keep the clone alive, which somehow had Amber's soul. She was the one who taught me that life is wonderful, a lesson I vowed I would never forget.

Mewtwo, we have to get out of here. My one and only friend's voice echoed in my mind. Preferably before they turn you over to Team Rocket's leader. I read my dad's mind and discovered that 'Giovanni' is the leader of a criminal syndicate.

I nodded discreetly. Then let's do it. If we're going to do it, it has to be soon, so I'm going to count backwards from ten to give you a chance to gather your power. When I hit zero, release it all and teleport the humans back to the mainland. I'll blow up the laboratory. I belatedly realized that there were two types of telepathy: the type that broadcasted to everyone around me, and the type I was using with Amber that only she could hear.

Amber seemed to mentally smirk. Got it.

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero— Amber, now!

Her eyes glowed a psychic blue. She raised her hands and in an instant all the scientists vanished. I set to work wrecking their laboratory. Once I had done that, I teleported us somewhere far away, where I immediately blacked out . . . only to wake up in an entirely too pink place, and standing in front of me was a white skinned man with a regal bearing.

"Greetings Mewtwo." He said. "I am Zordon of Eltar, and I have a proposition for you."

I raised an eyebrow. "I'm listening." It seemed unwise not to.

"Thank you, Mewtow. Now, I'm sure you're wondering where this place is. To be blunt, this is the spirit world, a sort of heaven for heroes in my world. I come from a world where there are no Pokémon. As for my proposition, I will allow you and your sister Amber—"

It was probably rude and a bad idea to cut him off, but I did so anyway. "Amber may be my best friend who taught me the first and most important life lesson I ever learned and my sister in all but blood, but she's not really my sister you know."

"Actually, she is." Zordon corrected. "The scientists used a bit of her human DNA to create you. I don't know why they used her DNA, precisely. Perhaps they didn't realize it was hers. But, getting back on the subject, I will allow you and your sister to leave this world, and you can take on a human form. In return, all I ask of you is that you help defend the world from the villains that threaten it, and there are quite a few of them. At present, it's a space pirate and former ninja named Lothor. Mostly, he wants revenge on his brother, the head teacher at the Wind Ninja Academy. There are three Ninja Academies: the Wind, Thunder, and Elemental, which teaches children to harness fire, ice and lightning. I don't really know how that's different from thunder, but somehow it is. So then Mewtwo, will you accept or will you decline? Your choice."

I thought about it for a moment before I shrugged. "Oh what the hell? I'll go for it!"
