Chapter 38

Wolf that loved Red Riding Hood

Um, sort of Ikarishipping chapter.

Guys, two reviews was just too much….

Dawn knew this was coming. When Zoey told her that she has to write the final duet for Black Divine she knew that it was going to be her and Paul. Well the duet between Paul and May wouldn't have been good because they still somewhat hate each other. She looked at the producer, squeezing her brain for the idea that wasn't coming out.

Dawn stood up from the couch and walked toward Zoey and sat on the arm of the sofa. "You can do that after graduating. Don't push it so hard."

"I have a deadline."

"Until….?"

"Before graduation."

"Did Adelheit gave you that deadline?"

There was a short pause, "Kind of. She asked me when should the deadline be and I said before graduation."

Dawn sighed a little. "You always push yourself too hard. Don't do that. It's only 2 weeks away from graduation."

"And a week away from the prom." Leaf butted in with a lovingly sigh.

"Oh God…" Zoey said.

"Oh right! We need to get a dress! When should we go shopping?" Marina asked.

Dawn, May, Leaf and Marina grinned at each other and nodded. "NOW!" with that they dragged Zoey and Misty out of the dorm and headed straight to the bus station.

On the way to the Veilstone City while Dawn, May, Leaf, and Marina were chatting excitedly Misty and Zoey were comforting each other for having to be dragged by the four.

"What was the prom theme anyway?" Dawn asked.

"Fairy Tale Dream. I think it was that. We should dress up like characters from fairy tales." Marina said.

"Jimmy and I are going to be like the song we sang, I'm the crane and he will be the man. Wish I can find something close to that." She quickly added.

"Maybe I should call Gary right now." And while Leaf was on the phone call May told the girls about her outfit.

"Drew and I agreed on becoming characters from Alice in Wonderland. He's Mad Hatter and I am going to be Alice. In formal." May added the last part with a giggle.

"What about you, Misty?" Marina asked her cousin.

"Hmm? Oh Ash and I agreed on not aiming for the prom king and queen so we are just going to wear something we want to."

"Okay…"

Everyone then turned to Dawn.

"I heard that Paul asked you out, what did you answer?"

Dawn coughed for a moment then after calming herself down she scratched back of her neck. "I said yes because he was the first to ask."

"Right…." Marina said with a mischievous smile.

"It's true! Really!" Dawn protested while shaking both of her hands but the girls didn't believe that.

"So what are you going to be?" Leaf, who just ended the phone call, asked.

Dawn thought for a moment then smiled, "Secret."

The girls returned to dorm after picking out the dress they thought would be nice. Everyone turned to Dawn, giving her wordless pressure to show the dress but Dawn refused to show it to anyone.

"Aren't you coming to the prom, Zoey?' Marina asked.

"No. I'm not. I wouldn't fit in and I don't have a date either."

"You can always come with Kenny." Dawn said with a smirk.

Zoey sighed, giving up protesting.

"You guys are impossible. I have told you more than thousand times that I am not dating Kenny but none of you believe me."

"But you two look so cute together!" Misty cooed.

"UGH!" Zoey threw a cushion at the carrot head in frustration. Misty blocked it and laughed.

"You have to throw better than that to hit me!" Then a pillow hit her on the face and she grumbled, ripping the pillow out of her face.

"Were you saying something?" Zoey asked with a mean smirk.

"You jerk." Misty said as she threw the pillow at the red head but Zoey dodged it.

"Ooh, is that a pillow fight?" Marina asked as she picked up a pillow from her bed and threw it at her cousin. Misty shrieked and threw it back at Marina. Soon Dawn, May and Leaf joined and the girls threw the pillow and attacked each other with it. Zoey threw a pillow at Leaf who was standing in front of the door.

Leaf dodged and the door opened, the pillow hit the poor person who just entered the room.

"Oops." Zoey said as she realized who got hit by the pillow.

"You…" Paul squeezed the pillow hard that Dawn worried if he was going to rip it.

"Did Paul Shinji got hit by a pillow?" Drew asked as he entered the room laughing.

"He sure did!" Ash answered with a good laugh of his and the boys all laughed as they entered the room with Paul still standing in front of the door, glaring at Zoey. Zoey sweatdropped and looked away, feeling guilty.

Paul mumbled something deadly under his breath and sat down on the couch next to Gary.

"My fantasy on girls is getting destroyed by them." The plum head said burying his head into his palms.

"Hey mine were already destroyed by those girls." Ash said, trying to comfort Paul and hot hit on his head by his girlfriend's mallet.

"You should seriously watch your mouth."

"Oww…."

"What were you guys talking about anyway?" Jimmy asked petting his girlfriend's head.

"The prom." May answered.

"Oh." The guys all thought about leaving this place at once but there were no way out.

"Why do I suddenly feel jealous of Kenny?" Gary asked. Kenny had to stay in their dorm room because of the project held at the company.

"Me too." Drew said and got a small punch from May.

"Oh Paul, I need to talk to you about something." Dawn said dragging Paul outside. The others could spot a small blush on Paul's face. When the door closed they laughed about that.

"I wonder what they are talking about." Leaf said, leaning at Gary's shoulder.

"I bet they are talking about the prom." Gary answered.

"When I think about it, Dawn didn't buy a dress. She bought a fabric." Marina said, remembering the blunette's shopping bag that had various fabrics and threads of colors.

"Maybe she's going to make it by herself. She likes making clothes." May said.

"She did?" Drew asked.

"Well she always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer so she made lots of dresses for us." May said.

"Just in case you don't know, she designed the dresses in the music video Witch." Zoey added.

"She never mentioned it before." Gary said.

"And then why did she become a singer?" Ash asked bluntly.

They all blinked at each other.

"That, we don't know. But she was the one to ask us." Misty said.

"Well then I need to thank her. Otherwise I wouldn't have met Leaf in the first place." Gary said giving a small peck on top of the brunette's head.

"Thank her later. But it doesn't matter what she was thinking when she asked. I'm happy with my life." Leaf said with a smile.

"That's good because the ten of us are going to be the most famous couples in the world. 10 friends all singers and couples." Jimmy said, voice filled with dream and hope. The girls looked at each other.

Drew noticed something weird going around between the girls. "What's going on here?" He asked.

"Nothing. Anyway, Dawn's still enjoying making clothes. She made our dresses before." Leaf said.

"And designed my swimsuit!" Misty added.

Now the boys noticed something going on, except for Ash, but since they knew the girls won't say anything about it they decided to keep it shut.

…

"Is my necklace fine?" May asked, wearing blue dress that reached her knees. She had white sparkles that replaced the apron Alice wore and had black headband. She was holding a golden locket, showing it to Leaf.

"I guess. Put it on." Leaf said. Then turned back to the mirror to put her mascara on. She had wine red sleeveless dress that had black belt in the mirror. It reached her ankles. She also had black choker with emerald stud in the mirror.

Marina was getting helped by Misty. Marina was wearing white yukata that had red sash. Her yukata's sleeve was bit big, the end reaching her knee. She had untied her pigtails, now only tying the end of her hair.

Misty was wearing a simple ocean blue heart necked dress that reached to her knees. She had black pumps. Her hair was down and brushed well. She also had a small water drop shaped pin on her head.

"Now where's Dawn?" Misty asked.

"She's with Paul right now." Zoey answered looking through her phone.

"And why?" May asked.

"Giving, I mean, forcing him to wear the costumes she made for the prom." Zoey said.

"Do you know what they are wearing?" Leaf asked. But to let her hopes down Zoey shook her head.

"What are you going to do here alone?" Marina asked.

"Work."

"Right…."

"Have fun at the prom." Zoey said. The girls thanked and exited out the door.

The boys except for Kenny and Paul were waiting in front of the girls' dorm like the other guys were.

"Hey beautiful." Gary said wearing white dress shirt and black pants, holding his hand out toward his date.

Jimmy, who was wearing sky blue yukata with deep blue sash, gave a big hug to his girlfriend.

Drew had dark green dress shirt, a loose black tie and black pants. Ash was wearing same as Gary except with a bow tie. None of them asked about Dawn's being since they were sure she was with Paul who would throw his life for the blunette's well-being.

"Come on, we should be going by now." Ash said and they all headed to the gym, decorated with lots of flowers, trees, and fake bushes in the corners. It made them feel like being in a forest, a typical place for where romance bloom in fairy tales.

"I never thought gym could be this beautiful." Misty said and the other girls nodded in agreement.

"Where is Dawn?" Misty asked.

"She isn't here."

The girls decided to wait until 9 o'clock where the actual party begins and they all decided to enjoy themselves.

"Hope Ursula and her 'friends' won't ruin our moment." May said.

"Please don't mention her name. Why did you have to ruin such a good moment?" Leaf complained.

"Sorry."

"Look!" Someone said and they all turned to the front door and gasped. The couple who just entered was definitely going to win 'Well Dressed' Prize at the least.

The girl was wearing white short puff sleeved dress reaching to her ankle that had crimson red ribbon around her waist. She had red riding hood that was tied in front of her chest. She had her hood covering her face. She also had white lace stockings and red shoes that matched her hood.

The one locking arms with her was wearing a greyish blue long sleeved shirt with grey short sleeved T-shirt over it, long blackish blue scarf, black pants and was on brown old looking sneakers. He also was wearing a brown wolf ears.

The girl pulled her hood and revealed herself.

"Dawn!" May shouted.

The others all whispered to each other. The custom was so well made. The spotlight went to the two.

It was 9 o'clock. The school president stood on the stage and told them about the prizes and the Prom King and Queen. The voting would be started at 10:30. The music started and with Dawn and Paul still in middle of everyone's attention, they all danced. Paul looked down at Dawn with the cold eyes of his but the others could notice that it had warmed up on Dawn. Only a little bit though.

Dawn looked happy too. They weren't sure it was because she was dancing with Paul or it was that her outfit was in middle of the spotlight.

"They look cute together." May said to Drew who agreed.

"I hope it all work out good for them." Drew said and May nodded.

…

"Did you guys have a good time?" Zoey asked as the girls returned to the dorm room.

"Zoey, guess who became the prom Queen." Leaf asked.

"Um, you?" Zoey guessed.

"No, Dawn!" Leaf shrieked as she pushed the girl in front of Zoey. Zoey's eyes widened at the sight of the blunette.

"Red Riding Hood?" Dawn nodded blushing.

"Her outfit became a great help for winning the throne! Paul was the wolf." May said. Zoey blinked for a moment and then smiled.

"You look wonderful Dawn."

Dawn blushed even more.

"Really and thank you for giving me an idea for the song." Dawn blinked for a moment as Zoey rapidly typed into the laptop.

"Oh and call Paul not to throw the outfit away."

…

Dawn and Paul arrived at Hearthome with Zoey by their side.

"We are here! And we are going to do fine job on this. My last duet!"

"Last?" Paul asked but Zoey didn't answer.

"Do your best, okay?" Zoey said as they arrived on the studio.

"Dawn, Paul!" They saw the familiar woman standing there.

"Adelheit!" Dawn hugged the woman.

"It's been so long!"

"The best times of my life." Paul said.

"You are being mean to her." Dawn said and Paul frowned.

"You won't say that after hearing what she had done to me."

"Hey, I was just being nice to my favorite nephew!"

"I thought your favorite nephew was Reggie."

"Nah, he's too old." Paul blinked.

"Is 22 that old?" Adelheit nodded.

"Believe me, she used to be all lovey-dovey at Reggie before he graduated high school." Dawn giggled at Paul's statement.

"Adelheit, we are all ready to star recording!" one of the staffs said.

"Okay! Good luck, guys." Adelheit said with a wink and the two entered the studio.

…

Dawn and Paul both appeared in the screen, looking at opposite direction their backs facing each other. Dawn and Paul were wearing the outfits from the prom, except Paul was on the bare feet. And since he was the 'wolf' he had brownish grey wolf years on his head along with the tail with the same color.

The background was forest, a small path shown on the middle and the title of the song appeared in red writing.

Paul: "One inevitable scene stars from coincidence I see a swaying red in the distance."

Paul stood behind the trees, glancing at the girl with the red hood over her head. He looked down sadly, not even daring to go after her.

Dawn: "I found a black shadow in the mysterious forest. And fled, fearing the feeling that something was starting."

Dawn glanced at her back, she was about to look behind but stopped herself and fastened her pace up the road that was covered with fallen leaves and branches.

Paul: "'A meeting' will only lead to an ending."

Dawn and Paul: "So I took the longer route on purpose."

Dawn noticed the road was separated into two. There were two signs saying 'Wrong Way' and 'Right Way'. She knew which way was the right way but took the wrong turn instead. Paul peeked from behind the tree and slowly followed her to the wrong way.

Dawn/Paul: "I'm not thinking something like wanting to meet, wanting to touch, or wanting to talk to you. When the fragile you and sly me 'meet' it will be the end"

The scene shifted and showed Paul and Dawn standing, they were facing back-to-back like they were on the start of the video.

Dawn: "Even if it's cruel, even if I curse it the fate won't change.

Ah why are you? Why am I?

The Wolf and the Red Riding Hood."

Paul was about to turn around to face Dawn but the girl who was back to back with him was gone.

Paul: "I'm sure you will come to this road again. And even today I can't do anything but to watch over you."

Paul was sitting under a tree near the road, but he was leaning against the part of the tree which was not close to the path. He was clearly waiting for the girl to pass.

Dawn: "You are hiding by that tree as you do every time. And I passed by pretending I don't notice."

Dawn was walking along, basket on her hand, her mouth was moving as if she was singing. She stopped singing as she noticed a tail under a bush. She bit her lips, returned to her singing and walked by.

Paul: "Our eyes won't meet."

Dawn: "Our voices won't reach".

Dawn/Paul: "Only sighs pile up lifelessly."

As Dawn was about to go to the 'right way' now, she turned behind and sighed.

"Even if we can't meet

Even if we can't touch

Even if we can't talk to each other, it's okay."

The scene shifted to the scene where Dawn and Paul were standing their backs were facing each other again.

"If the undependable you and clumsy me are there, it's fine."

Paul and Dawn smiled a little.

"If this isn't called love, then there needn't be words.

Ah, no matter how I think it through the ending won't change."

This time Dawn turned around slightly only to find that there was no one.

During the interlude it showed the first time they met, it was like flashback, Dawn was walking happily down the path when a wolf walked out of the forest. She stopped, freaked out and started to run. Paul frowned at the sight. He sighed and hung his head.

Paul: "I wanted to meet, I wanted to touch, I wanted to talk, to tell you the truth."

Dawn was skipping and while that an apple fall from the basket followed by few other things. She stopped skipping and turned back to walk to the fallen objects. She crouched down to pick the apple up then saw another hand grabbing it.

"The cute you and gentle me should meet and be united in the end."

Dawn: "Countless times, countless times I made my wish to God…."

"But sadly, so sadly,"

Paul: "We are the Wolf and."

Dawn: "The Red Riding hood."

She looked up and saw the 'wolf', holding the apple.

Dawn/Paul: "Wanting to comfort the crying you."

Dawn backed up a little, frightened by the 'wolf' and started to cry a little.

"I stretched my arm but it is shaking."

Paul reached for her, his arms shaking a little. Dawn opened her eyes a bit and looked at the hand of the 'wolf'.

"I love you. I want to embrace you …..

But, I can't do that!"

Paul stopped reaching for her and stood up, backing away from her a little and headed back into the forest.

"No matter how I struggle

No matter how I wish

My claws and fangs won't disappear."

Paul ran through the woods, cursing himself. Dawn was just sitting there. She picked up the objects, placed them in the basket and stood up. She then headed to her Grandma's, wiping her tears away and smiled.

"So I will just be waiting.

Until your tears stop flowing

By that tree

Always…"

The scene changed to the day after showing Paul standing in front of the tree, not hiding this time. From far away he saw Dawn making her way to the tree, Paul smiled-more of a smirk. The scene closed up to Dawn who smiled brightly.

…

The girls squealed as the music video ended.

"That was seriously too cute." Marina said.

"I know! I knew it was a good idea to dress up like that during the prom." Dawn said with a giggle.

"Why did you wear that anyway?" Leaf asked.

Dawn shrugged, "I just felt like it."

"It was a great inspiration anyway. I loved it. And the image suit very well. Dawn as the innocent Red Riding Hood and Paul as a wolf." Misty chuckled at Zoey's statement.

"I'm innocent?" Dawn asked, confused.

"You are." May said as she ruffled her friend's hair.

"Hey! You are messing my hair up!" Dawn complained.

"I was trying to mess your hair up." May said with a giggle and Dawn pouted.

"Meanie."

"Guys, we should sleep now. It's graduation tomorrow." Leaf said. And the girls were all silent. They looked around their dorm room, their luggage packed up and the only things that were left were the old desks and the bunk beds.

"I'm going to miss it here." Dawn said softly and the other girls nodded in silent.

"We made so much memories. It just feels like yesterday that we entered high school."

"And we took the audition."

"Now we are celebrities."

The girls looked at each other, "All memories."
