Chapter 39
Waking Up
Song Used: Outlaw's Heartbreak (Kagamine Len)
Translyrics by ME!
Dawn went through the files of Zoey's laptops. Lots of interesting songs were there. It was like looking through the computer of authors. Her songs mostly had stories in them so it was interesting.
"Hey, Zoey." Zoey looked up and tilted her head.
"This song looks interesting, what is it?"
"A gift for Paul." Zoey said. Dawn read through the lyrics and burst into laughter.
"This suits him so well!" Dawn wiped out fake tears and the other girls gathered around the laptop and read the lyrics. The girls were staying in Green Mansion. Because of their job they sadly couldn't go back to their beloved home.
"If you actually release this song, the government will warn you for writing song that is like this." Leaf said through her laughs but she was serious.
"I wrote more inappropriate songs before." Zoey said like it was nothing.
"Yeah I know that but this, it's too….."
"Don't worry, if I actually show it to the audience it will be through YouTube, not the official release." Zoey said like it was nothing.
"If he actually sings this, that is." May said.
"Never said it has to be him." Zoey said. The girls looked at each other, having bad feeling. Dawn read through the lyrics again and smiled.
"I want to sing!" Dawn said, surprising the others.
"Um, are you serious?" Zoey asked, sitting straight up from May's bed.
"Yeah, it's not like I'm forbidden to sing this song." Dawn said with a shrug.
"But, it doesn't suit you. At all." May said.
"Sometimes I want to try something new. And this is new." Dawn said with a giggle.
"Dawn, I got a bad feeling for this one, please don't." Marina said.
"Why so? I want to and besides, it won't bring me bad lucks. Trust me." Dawn said with a small laugh.
When she went to Jubilife, Drew was there for filming something.
"Hi Dawn." Dawn turned around to see her brother.
"Hey! Uh, aren't you supposed to be in Veilstone?" Dawn asked.
"Came here to film. I would have liked it more if it was closer but I get to see my little sister." Drew said as he patted the blunette's hair.
"Hehe." Dawn giggled.
"Uh, I heard that your song was bit uh, you know…"
"Yeah, I know. But I wanted to try something new before college." Dawn said.
"Oh right. Which college are you going?"
"Can't tell you. We are all keeping it a secret."
"Shame. Just to let you know I'm going to La Rouse City."
"Really? Isn't that like the city of science? That's what I heard."
"Yeah, you need passport to go somewhere at least."
"It sounds cool. I wanna go."
"Come, I will be the guide for you girls."
"Thanks, I will talk to the girls about it."
"Dawn!" Asita called and Dawn walked away after waving.
"See you later." Drew waved back and walked away but turned around, "Hey we are visiting next week, you got that?" Dawn made a circle with her fingers and disappeared through the corner.
Drew stuffed his hands into his pocket and walked away to his waiting room.
"What was Drew saying?" Asita asked.
"That he will pay a visit to Green Mansion soon." Dawn replied adjusting the headphone.
"Okay, is Reggie here?" She asked.
"I don't think so." Asita frowned a little. Dawn giggled but decided not to bring it up as a topic.
"But I think I heard he has a girlfriend so he might be out on a date." She wasn't lying about that one. Paul told her that it was gross to see Reggie making out on sofa when he entered living room. Asita scowled.
"Alright, are you ready, Dawn?" Zoey asked. Dawn nodded. A loud and intense music burst out from the headphone. She waited for the timing and started to sing.
Dawn got on the car with Zoey and Asita.
"I heard you met Drew out there. What did he say? Are the boys doing well in Veilstone?"
"I think so. He said they will be paying visit later." Dawn said.
"It will be nice to see them. I suppose Kenny is coming over?"
"He never said anything about that one. Why? Wondering if your boyfriend is coming over?" Dawn asked with teasing tone. Zoey's face turned red and Dawn laughed.
"Let's change the topic. Have you made your mind on the album cover?" Zoey asked, after calming herself down a little.
"Well, I need to look as bad as possible, right?" Zoey nodded.
Dawn recalled the photos she'd taken few days ago. They all made her look 'not Dawn Berlitz'. She was always kind and nice girl but in the photo was an unfamiliar girl who seemed to be causing school and family a lot of troubles. Someone who'd be involved in school violence.
"I think that one with me sitting with cigarette will be fine."
"The one that doesn't suit you the most."
"Hey, it's better than holding a metal baseball bat." Zoey shrugged at Dawn's comment and closed her eyes. Slowly drifting to dream land. Dawn looked out the window and before she knew it she was asleep as well.
A week later she and her friends were looking at the computer screen or cell phone. They decided to watch it separately and share the opinion about it later on.
MV Scene
A loud and intense music started as the title in thick and black letters, torn a little showed up,
Outlaw's Heartbreak
It showed Dawn sitting in apartment stairways. She was wearing white blouse, blue ribbon on the collar, blue school uniform jacket, skirt neat and tidy white stockings and black pumps. The song was sang on the background.
Once there was me going against my parents, pinch my cheeks
Dawn stood up from the stairway and walked down the grey street.
Immorality going against my thoughts being free
She tied her hair into ponytail while on that.
This and that talks will never fill it up
She walked behind the alley
See I want more and more power to win this thing
She stood in front of other people who were obviously school bullies
The scene won't need love what a ridiculous thought
The scene closed up on Dawn's face who closed her eyes.
That color is disturbing
The scene blacked out really quickly but when the color came back she opened her eyes and the scene backed up.
She was dressing differently. The jacket was gone with ribbon she had a piercing on her left ear and her hair was dyed with red, pink, and yellow streaks. Her skirt was way shorter and stockings were gone. Pumps were replaced with sneakers.
Now, wearing reformed school uniform, hair in multicolor
Cigarette in my mouth and spit it out
She crouched, leaning against the wall of grey building and put a white slender cigarette into her mouth.
Glare and glare
Hey you, come here
Dawn and her 'friends' laughing called some kids over.
Get out of stupid school
Fuck the stupid life
Let it free let it free
There's no thing as tomorrow
There was an interlude and it showed dirty things Dawn and the others did. Which would classify as 'crime'.
The bug sound, pitying me taking stupid classes
Dawn was sitting in classroom, glaring out the window
That teacher surrounded by those idiots with similar faces
Dawn stood up from the seat and she was outside the school. She was behind an alley
It doesn't and never will help
She was crouching in front of a teenager with cigarette on her hand
See only the time is flowing fast
She and the others were laughing hard
If someone asks who I am 'the God'
The kid, biting his lips looked up at Dawn mouthing some words
That's what I say
She mouthed the lyrics as her face was closed up.
Now, wearing reformed school uniform, hair in multicolor
She was laughing with her friends going from places to place
Cigarette in my mouth and toss it away
She tossed the cigarette she was holding on the ground. People stepped over it
They just nag and nag
Hey you, come here
She was running away from the apartment, possibly her old home.
Get out of stupid school
She was with her friends but they got into fight
Fuck the stupid life
Destroy and destroy
The fight got intense until Dawn stabbed the other girl
There's no thing as tomorrow
The scene blacked out and showed Dawn walking alone under street lights, shaking hard.
The lights are showing me the 'right'
Saying 'Done it' and running out
She started running
It's just too late too late
She fell down on the knees
That is how reality is
She started to cry
Humans are just piece of shits
They are just masks
Sending signs and even more
Struggle hard
She screamed
(Last Last)
Now, wearing reformed school uniform, hair in multicolor
Flashback showed her life, hiding her true feelings inside
Cigarette in my mouth and spit it out
Glare and glare
Now what's wrong with that?
She looked up and there was police care forever
Just give up being human
Fuck that stupid heartbreak
Let it free let it free
The tomorrow's
She slowly grabbed the knife and pulled it close to her body
Waiting anyway
Her face scrunched for the last time with tears in her eyes.
The scenery broke like glasses and showed credits

"Okay. Dawn, who wrote the music video plot?" Leaf asked coming out from bathroom, which was connected to her room. Misty followed out.
"Someone Zoey asked, I don't know, why?" Dawn asked sitting up from the bed.
"The song, okay, I will skip about the song but music video was a bit weird." Leaf said.
"I thought it was fine." Marina said entering the room.
"I know it was horrible, maybe I should have asked Kenny for a plot." Zoey said.
"You just want to talk to him." May teased and Zoey growled.
"When are they coming? I wanna see Jimmy quickly." Marina said.
"This evening." Dawn answered.
"That will be about 2 hours later." May said.
"You know what? I am going out to get something to eat and other things." Dawn said standing up.
"You want me to go there with you?" Leaf asked.
"Nah, its fine. Just 20 minute walk, can't hurt me. I will see you guys later." Dawn headed to the closet and changed into short pink skirt and blue T-shirt.
"You look hot in that thing." May said.
"Thanks." Dawn smiled and after putting on a cap and sunglasses she left the house.
"Do you think she will be alright?" May asked.
"Chillax, it's not like someone's gonna kidnap her." Zoey answered. The other girls stared at her weirdly but didn't say anything.
About an hour later the doorbell rang. "I'm coming!" Leaf cried out but saw her brother opening the door. "Ugh." She groaned and slowly walked toward it.
"Hey!" Gary entered the house first followed by Jimmy, Ash, Drew and Paul.
"Where's Kenny?" May asked from upstairs.
"In Snowpoint. He's busy I've heard." Drew answered, closing the door behind him.
"He's just saying that because he doesn't want to meet his friends." Marina said with a pout.
"Actually he is really busy working on a new project." Jimmy corrected his girlfriend.
"Honestly?" Marina said to Jimmy and with a groan she walked away, leaving clueless Jimmy alone.
Paul looked around, "Where's Dawn?" He asked.
"She went out to buy things. Like snacks and stuffs. Ooh, call her to rent few DVDs!" Leaf said and May immediately picked up her phone and called Dawn.
"Hey Dawn, sweetheart, can you rent some DVDs? Yeah, okay. Thanks!"
"She said she will." May said after putting the phone down.
"Now all we have to do is relax and wait." Ash said jumping on the couch.
The time went on and Zoey worriedly looked at the clock. It had been almost two hours since Dawn left the house.
"Does buying few snacks and renting few DVDs usually take this long?" Zoey asked and the others shook their head.
"Okay, something is definitely wrong. Does anyone wanna volunteer to go look for her?" Zoey asked standing up. Paul stood up and so did Drew.
"Misty, come on." Zoey said pulling the carrot top up.
"Okay, I need to get my shoes on." Misty said.
"Come on, I'm worried." Drew said.
…
Dawn was walking home, it was getting dark. "I need to hurry up." She told herself and sped up her pace. She stopped for a second. She felt someone was following her. She looked around but she only saw a couple making out and few people walking by.
'Maybe I'm overreacting.' She calmed herself down a little. She put back on her smile and walked down the street. She heard footsteps behind her and turned around. She saw few men standing there but they were talking to each other, not paying attention to Dawn. Dawn blinked a bit and then walked again. The sun had disappeared, it was dark.
"Zoey must be worried." She said to herself and took out her phone to call her but someone tapped her shoulder from behind. She turned around to see one of the men standing there. He was really tall, and bulky. And had faint scent of cigarette, making her feel like wanting to get out of there.
"You are Dawn Berlitz, right?" He asked. Dawn slightly nodded, not taking off her sunglasses though.
"Don't you think it is weird wearing sunglasses in the dark?" He asked with a dashing smile. Dawn smiled and shrugged.
"Maybe but I don't want people to recognize me." She replied.
"Well didn't work for me. I'm one of your fans, can you um, sign…" he took a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to Dawn along with a pen.
"Can you sign this for me?" He asked.
"Uh, sure." She said. "Your name?"
"Dane." She signed the paper.
"Here you go." She said glancing at Dane's friends behind him.
"I need to go now." She said, trying to go away but Dane grabbed her shoulder and smiled. Dawn felt something weird.
"What's going on?" Dawn asked.
"I really liked your new song. I really did." he said and one of his friend, from behind he (don't know how he got there so fast) grabbed Dawn's mouth and dragged the shocked girl to nearby alley.
Dawn knew what was going on. As soon as she realized that she flailed her body to make the man release her but he was just too strong for her.
"Mmmph!" Dawn tried to make sound but with the guy's large hand over her small mouth it would never work.
Dawn was thrown to the wall. She wanted to scream, she wanted to run as fast as she could but her body wouldn't move an inch. The memories she had as childhood was flooding back to her. No, she would not let it happen again. No she don't want to have it happen again. She tried to stand up, but her body didn't listen to its master's command.
The night, smell of cigarette, men, no. She had to get out of there but her body was shaking like it was out of control. She couldn't move a step and the next thing she realized was that the man, Dane was touching her.
"Come on, stop shaking. It's going to be alright."
She stared at the end of the alley. Streetlight was the only light that can be seen from her spot. And some passing cars.
"Don't touch me." She finally managed to say.
"You know you are going to enjoy this." He whispered.
"Let go-" Another man grabbed her from behind and even before she realized it her skirt was being torn apart. Her body was trembling harder. She tried once more to get out of there, wondering why she was having the same nightmare again. Asking the one high above why she has to go through this again.
"HELP!" She screamed after biting the man's hand.
Just then the man, Dane fell on the ground.
Dawn looked up and saw familiar green haired man in front of her.
"Dawn!" Drew walked in closer to her and after another man punching the guy behind her, Drew pulled her closer to him. She dug her face into his chest.
"Come on, let's get out of here!" Drew said to another guy. Dawn peaked and realized it was Paul. Dawn started to hiccup. And Drew covered her eyes with his hands because the sight was a bit too violent for a fragile girl like Dawn to see. Paul, furious and mad, was beating the crap out of the others.
"Paul, I will get Dawn out of here. You just hold them on for a moment I will call the cops." Drew said dragging Dawn out of the alley but she stopped him.
"What about Paul?" She asked.
Drew pointed at the said, "Do you really think he will be in trouble? Trust me that guy won the junior boxing championship. And what you really should worry about is your, um." He took off his T-shirt and handed it to Dawn.
"What for?" She asked.
"You got your skirt torn off." Drew said, looking away. Dawn quickly grabbed the shirt and covered her legs. "Good thing the mansion is bit isolated from city." Dawn mumbled.
"You!" Dawn shrieked when she heard Dane's voice but Drew stood between them and punched his gut. He grabbed Dawn's wrist and they ran away.
…
"Is she alright?" Drew asked. Dawn was in Leaf's bed with few other girls. Shaking in terror.
"She's, I don't know. Why in the great wide world does she…" May looked at Drew in his eyes.
"Where's Paul?"
"I called the police. I'm pretty sure he's in police station with them. Gary and Ash went there to pick him up."
"Oh geez…."
"That's not the problem, is Dawn… I don't get it. She could have screamed for help and she just, why?"
May couldn't answer that. She knew that it had to be Dawn to explain that.
"Let's just wait, okay?" May said, her hand on the man's shoulder. Drew silently looked at May with sad eyes.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"She will explain it all to you later. Just wait, okay? It took me over a year to get it out of her."
"What? What out of her?"
May kept silence.
The sound of front door opening was heard by them and they looked down at the living room to find Jimmy standing up to greet them.
"What happened?" He asked.
"They will get punished, that's for sure. Paul just has to pay some fine for hitting people." Gary said.
"Um, they are criminals." Jimmy said.
"Still, hitting is hitting." Ash said. Paul remained silent all the time.
"Hey guys, come up here." The boys looked up and realized that Drew and May were watching them.
"Come up." Drew said once more. The boys all headed upstairs.
"So it's all done now?" May asked, her eyes following their movement upstairs.
"They will need Dawn over this weekend and until then, yes." Gary said.
"Speaking of which, how's she doing?" Paul's ears perked up at Ash's question.
"Trembling in terror." May answered.
Drew shot her a look, "You know that's not true." May shrugged, "She was scared."
"Can I see her?" Paul opened his mouth for the first time he arrived in the house.
"Uh, yeah." May guided the boys into Leaf's room. There was a figure sitting in middle of the bed, her body was covered with blanket and Leaf, Misty, Zoey and Marina were sitting around her.
"Dawn, how are you feeling?" Gary asked. There was a small sound but got muffled because she was under the blanket.
"Dawn…" Leaf placed her hand on the side of the figure but Dawn shook it off.
She peaked outside and blinked a little.
"May…" Dawn called her brunette friend with small voice.
"Yes?" May walked up to Dawn and sat by the blunette.
"Can you explain to the guys, I could explain it to you girls but I don't think I can with the guys." May gulped and nodded.
"Come on, Zoey." May dragged the clueless boys and the redhead out the room to the living room.
"Where's Kenny?" Dawn asked.
"He hasn't come from Snowpoint." Leaf said. "Oh." Dawn replied sadly.
"Dawn, don't you think it would have been better if you explained it by yourself?" Marina asked.
Dawn stared at the sheet for a long moment and pushed the blanket off of her, stood up from the bed and went out the room.
"…and Dawn was- Oh Dawn!" May first noticed the girl.
"How far did you explain?" Dawn asked.
"That I met you in the orphanage when I was with Zoey and Kenny." May answered.
"Is it okay if I explain the rest…?" Dawn asked. May looked at the boys then Zoey then nodded.
She sat down next to May, hugging herself a little, "My father was sent to the jail because he killed a man. Some of you know that, right?" Drew nodded but Ash and Jimmy looked at each other.
"The one he killed was, um, the one who raped me when I was a child." The guys stared at Dawn, not knowing what to say. They looked at the girls, who were coming down, their eyes asking for a help.
"It's okay. I'm fine now. I was just too shocked and although I don't remember the whole my body does and it comes out in my dreams sometimes… Uh, guys? Don't take it so hard, please."
"Your father went to jail because he killed the rapist who raped you."
"For ten years?"
"Well he punched few policeman, making them hurt that's why he had to spend more time in there." Dawn said bitterly. A minute of awkward silence passed. Ash thought about asking if this was all a joke but judging from Dawn's look this wasn't a joke. And Ash had a brain to know that one.
"Guys, you don't need to comfort me, that was about 13 years ago. I'm fine with that. It's just that, I don't want to hide anything from you guys anymore, it's just that."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Drew asked, sounding little hurt.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm your brother." Dawn stared at him for a second.
"About that, I have something to tell you. Later."
There was a long silence. Everyone was just quiet until Drew opened his mouth again.
"Doesn't it hurt you to say that?" Drew asked. His voice was very soft and tender.
Dawn looked at him in the eyes. It told everything.
"Now what was it that you want to tell me about?" Drew asked.
Dawn stood up, dusted herself a little, "We need to talk alone." Drew didn't question anything. He stood up and followed her out to the backyard.
…
They were outside, the backyard was huge. The first thing he saw was a small stone made fountain that wasn't working but still had water in it.
Dawn sat down on the edge and looked up at the night sky.
"So much happened to day." She said.
"I don't want to talk about them." Drew answered, still standing.
"Sit down."
"I don't want to." Dawn looked up at him for a moment, she took a deep breath and started talking.
"I just wanted to thank you." Drew raised his eye brow.
"You, Drew Hayden, are the most charming, caring, and loving man I've ever seen in my life. And I'm just glad a man like you ever loved me. If you come up on TV, many years later, I will tell my kids that 'The man on TV, he used to love me.' I'm going to say that really proudly. You are the first boy that ever loved me.
And you are the first one that I ever loved too. I never thought I am going to like a guy. I got raped when I was a little girl, I started to get afraid of Dad as well. And May was being an overprotective mother for me. After mom committed suicide, my life was completely ruined. I had friends, but I always felt like something was missing. And you filled it up."
She started to tear up a little. Drew just stared.
"Even though I was the one who said we are breaking up, I somehow couldn't get you off of my mind. Not that I still loved you as a boy, but I just didn't want you to go away because I thought you were just, going to be by my side for a long time. I'm not saying that I didn't want May and you dating, I'm truly happy for you guys. It's that….
I lost something and… I don't know how to explain this feeling…. Drew…."
Drew hugged her. He patted her back and she started to cry.
After few minutes, she stopped crying.
"What I wanted to tell you today is that I've finally decided to let you go free. It's going to take some time but I think I found someone new." Drew smiled and hugged her tighter.
"You don't have to think me as a little sister anymore too."
"I'm your brother. Don't think me like that sweetheart. I will always love you." Dawn smiled, pushed herself off of him a little and wiped her tears off.
"Thank you so much."
"Me too. Thank you Dawn. Thank you."
Um, please review. Please? With a sugar on top? Please?
Anyway, I hope you had fun reading, this chapter was the one I was planning for a long time- believe it or not.
SO finally question, most of you had voted on Green Society for my next fanfic, and I'm going to settle it soon because I will need some time to plan the whole story line and stuff.
Is Green Society really it?
And please review.
