Slugterra Fanfic
Chpt 18: Truth and Emotions
Nicole belongs to the Talented author NicoleBlakk.
After Twist took me to Snow-dance Cavern, I couldn't help but wonder about the parcel he mentioned. It didn't seem to add up. I couldn't see how but it just didn't feel right.
It was my natural curiosity.
Eventually I went to see Blakk about the parcel. I found him conversing in his office with Maurice, his red-headed reconnaissance officer. Whatever he didn't know, wasn't worth knowing.
Blakk seemed clearly uncomfortable and was speaking in a low tone to Maurice.
I picked up the last piece of the conversation.
"Tell no-one about what you saw with Nicole. There will be serious consequences if anything gets out through your mouth. Got it?"
Maurice nodded once before catching sight of me. His eyes widened as he realized how much I had heard.
Doctor Blakk saw his expression change and whipped around to face me.
His initial expression was surprise and a hint of fear? But when he saw it was me, he relaxed and dismissed Maurice.
"Kaiya, You have heard of knocking right?" He asked.
"Yeah, but the doors here slide open to fast." I replied.
Doctor Blakk just raised his eyebrows.
I dismissed it with a flick of my hand, "Look, I'm just here to ask about a parcel, Twist was asked to pick up for you, round about…yesterday? In Snowdance Cavern?"
Doctor Blakk looked confused, "I didn't send Twist to pick up anything, yesterday, let alone have any parcels that needed delivering or collecting."
I felt my heart stop. "So there was no parcel?"
"Not that I know of. Why?"
I couldn't reply as my brain figured out an unbelieveable answer.
"Kaiya!" Doctor Blakk commanded, "What were you doing in Snowdance Cavern anyway? I heard Twist say, you ran into the Shane Gang and you let them get away?"
I wasn't listening to Blakk, all I could think about was Twist.
"Son of a bitch" I said.
Blakk looked taken aback, "What?" He hissed.
"That son of a bitch." I said it louder.
"Kaiya, what in the Deep Caverns are you talking about?"
I looked at Blakk, "Call Twist In here now." I demanded.
"What?"
"Twist. Here. Now." I said through clenched teeth.
Blakk decided he wasn't going to get any answers out of me now, so he dialed Twist and ordered him to come to his office. Then he sat back to watch the show.
Sooner than later, Twist came strolling in, a care-free look on his face.
He grinned when he saw me but his face fell when I glared at him.
Blakk steepled his fingers "Twist, Kaiya tells me you said you had a package to pick up for me yesterday, but I gave you no such orders. Care to explain?"
Twist immediately started backing towards the door, his eyes locked on my unreadable expression.
"Uh, well, um, there was no package. I just wanted to see a movie and have a decent explanation so Kaiya would come too.." His voice trailed off, awkwardly.
I looked at him shocked, while Blakk gave his dark laugh.
"Is that so Twist? You wanted to ask Kaiya out on a date?"
Twist nodded, barely, before sprinting out the door.
I stood shocked for a moment before I raced after him, yelling.
"TWIST! You get back here, RIGHT NOW!"
I continued chasing him for at least five minutes, before I ambushed him in Block 6, Corridor G.
"What the Hell, Twist?" I asked as I pinned him against the wall. He didn't struggle, I could see he was to tired.
"What? I didn't anything wrong!" He replied, his voice was calm but his eyes looked terrified.
"Explain!" I hissed, pressing down harder.
"Not…Here.." He managed.
I took my arm away, still wary though.
"This way." He motioned with his arm, rubbing this throat with his hand.
I followed him down the corridors, too busy watching him to notice where we were going. Eventually we stopped outside a door. I had the feeling I had been somewhere near this place before but I shook it off. Twist swiped his finger and the door opened, revealing, what I assumed to be, Twists room.
It was small with a double bed, a T.V and Computer screen, a wardrobe and a door that led to the bathroom. The walls were decorated in posters of multiple bands and brands.
There was a big poster of Will Shane on one side of the room with darts stuck in it. Below that was a picture of Eli, with the same problems.
I stood arms folded, observing the place before looking at Twist.
"Nice place," I complimented, "Now, explain."
Twist was lying down on his bed, playing with Loki "I'd rather not."
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow.
He sighed and looked away before answering, "Look, I'll tell you if you tell me why you hate me so much. Deal?"
I looked at him, confused, "I don't hate you, what on Earth made you think that?"
He sat bolt upright. "You don't? Wait, what? What's Earth?"
I quickly realized my mistake and covered it up "Oh, just an old cavern from the legends. It was said to be the cavern closest to the Burning World, until it caved in. You know, nothing important"
Twist seemed to buy it but then turned back to the main reason we were here.
"So, why don't you hate me?"
I laughed "Why would I? You're the nicest person here, if not the only one my age. Sure, you can be annoying but it's funny to watch."
Twist had a smile on his face and was watching me with interest.
"Really? What else?"
"Well, you seemed nice enough when I helped you fix your shoulder at Healer Springs, you even gave me some slug slinging advice. Plus Jet likes you a lot, not to mention your fun to tease and chase. I feel like I can trust you." I was getting carried away.
Twist got up off the bed and walked over to where I was standing. He stopped in front of me, arms folded.
"And?" He persisted.
I looked him in the eye and said "You're too vain." Before shoving over onto the bed.
His look of surprise made my day as I turned around and walked out the door and headed towards the cafeteria for a smoothie.
Twist POV
Twist sat on his bed, listening to all the things Kaiya was saying. He smiled genuinely, it was nice to have someone actually like him and trust him.
Even though he hated the Shane boy, it had felt nice to be part of a family again. Here it was different. There were friends, but no real ones. Everyone obeyed Doctor Blakk, here. It meant secrets were hard to keep.
When she stopped he decided to keep her talking.
"And?" He asked walking over to her.
"You're to Vain." Was the answer before she shoved him onto the bed, then sashayed out the door.
Twist lay on his back, staring at the ceiling. Loki came over and tried to comfort him. Even as a ghoul, Loki was still his best friend.
He turned to face Loki, "Two girls in Blakks Fortress. Nicole, the shy and friendly one that Blakk owns, and Kaiya, a crazy, short tempered girl who is my own age."
Loki growled in agreement.
Twist smiled "And both of them are mechanics but only Nicole can shoot straight. Kaiya makes up for her lack of slug-slinging, in her ability to design, upgrade and control mechas. Quite useful for a surprise attack."
Twist sat up. Damn! I'm thinking like Blakk does. What the best way to use them is.
"I don't want to be like Blakk." Twist muttered to Loki, "I just want to get my revenge and get out. And now I'm his apprentice. I swear he did this too me to keep me here! I'm just a well-chosen tool, to be used whenever I'm needed too."
A message came through on his phone fro Blakk.
Urgent matter came through.
Am heading for the Lightwell.
Take Nicole's training session for today.
Twist frowned. "The Lightwell?"
The mysterious source of slug energy for Slugterra? What would Bla- Trying to destroy it obviously.
Twist felt himself grow angry. No doubt Blakk was tracking Eli Shane. Slug-boy must have one of his slugs sick so was taking it too the LightWell and Blakk was following.
Leaving him to deal with Nicole.
He rolled his eyes and texted Nicole a message, telling her to meet him in the usual training room as Blakk was busy.
Then he got up and headed off. He wasn't looking forward to getting his ass whipped.
