Chapter Six
April 2014
Smithy rose to his feet as the door shut and he smiled "What took you so long?" he asked as he headed out into the hall, the small blonde grinned and he moved to her "I had to make hundreds of excuses..." she began before he started to kiss her lips, he nibbled on her bottom lip until she allowed his tongue into her mouth, he pulled her body against his and she wrapped her arms round his shoulders and he let his hands rest onto her hips. She grinned as he withdrew from her lips "I love you" she spoke softly and he smiled "I love you too" Her eyes fell to the floor and he sighed "Whats she done Moss?" he asked and she smiled "She has told Grace you asked her to move in.." he shook his head "It wasnt like that". Stevie pulled from him and sighed "So how was it?" she asked as she moved into the living room, he followed and watched as she sunk onto the sofa "She said about once we were married... living together.." she cut in "You said you werent going to marry her.." he shook his head "And Im not... I have no intentions of marrying her.. but you said we needed to figure out a way of ending things civily" she nodded "And I have been the other woman for two months now... I cant keep it up". He nodded "Just a few more weeks Stevie.. I promise you.. I am gunna end it". She sighed "Just be honest with me Smithy... if its her that you want.. I would rather walk away now". He smiled "Its not.. I swear to you.. hand on heart.. it is you that I want". She nodded slightly and he rested down infront of her and pecked her lips "We aggreed we wanted to wait until I told Kate and that it was for the best.. but if I am going to lose you then I will go down that station and tell her.. that I dont love her.. I never have and I am in love with you". Stevie shook her head "She would sack me.." he cut in "She couldnt.." Stevie smiled "Smithy you and I both know that she would find a way.. I erm.. I better get back to work". He sighed "I thought.." he gestured towards her body and the stairs and then he shook his head "Never mind... I love you Stevie.. and I am going to sort something special out.. I will make you feel the way you deserve.. the way I wish I could every time I look at you". She rose to her feet and sighed "They are words Smithy... empty words until you back them up.. I just cant believe it". He grabbed her wrist and smiled "I will prove it... I promise you". She nodded "Yeah.. you've been promising for the last two months Smithy" she sighed as her phone began to ring and she pulled it out "I have gotta go.. see you later". He sighed as he heard her begin to talk on her phone and the front door slam shut, he had to think of a way to prove he was serious.
Stevie sunk down at her desk and opened up the file on the middle of her unusually tidy desk, for the last few weeks she hadnt been assigned to a single case, she had finished paper work and tidyed her things but now here she was with a brand new file ready and waiting for her, she opened it up and sighed as the words came into sight, she rose from her seat and headed over to the office and knocked gently on the door. "Yes.." the woman called and she moved inside "Do you have a few moments please?" Stevie asked and Kate glared at her "I did have when you disapeared once again... right now DS Moss I am very busy.. we have an attempted murder and a rape on the go..." Stevie cut in "So why am I working a pety theft... a teenager who stole a video game?". Kate rose to her feet "You know what... you will carry on getting these cases all the while I am your boss and there is nothing you can do about it..." Stevie cut in "You cant do that... I will go to DCI Manson.." Kate smiled "Hmmm I have a report here... ready to give to him... advising disaplinary action over your time keeping and performance whilst in the station.. so I dont recommend you go telling tales.." Stevie sighed "You cant do this... I am a good police officer and I dont deserve this.." Kate smiled "Put in for a transfer and its all over... there is a DS postion in a station in kent.." the small blonde shook her head "I would have to move.." Stevie laughed "But you would like that wouldnt you.." she headed to the door and Kate smiled "I win.. I always win.. and I can make your life far more difficult... so do not push me". Stevie shook her head "I have never tried to be in competition with you..". Kate watched her walk through the door before she slammed it shut behind her. Stevie moved to her desk and sunk down "What is your problem?" the voice behing her startled her and as she turned back to Mickey she smiled "Excuse me?". He moved over to her "You are causing problems.." Stevie rose to her feet "You dont know what you are talking about.." he nodded "She is one of the best DI's I have ever worked under.." Stevie smiled "And I have never said she isnt a good officer.." he smiled "So back off.." Stevie smiled "I suggest you remember who you are talking too DC Webb.." he smiled "You know what.. I used to have so much respect for you.. I thought of you like a sister.. and you know what.. it was all a waste of time.. you have no respect for any of us.. I know what you have been saying.." he rose his voice now and she was well aware of every one staring at them "That you should be running the rapes and murders.." she cut in "I am the DS.." he sighed "So what the rest of us cant do our jobs as well as you.." he turned away "I am glad you and I rarely work together any more". Feeling all eyes on her, she turned to the door, noticing Kate in her office doorway smirking Stevie sighed and Kate leant towards her "Looks like your life just got a little more difficult... and believe me.. thats nothing".
Stevie sunk down on the wall out the back of the station and sighed to herself. "You knew it was never going to be easy" the Sergeant smiled as he sunk down next to her on the wall. Stevie smiled "You know.. I used to think when I finally got him.. I would be so happy... Smithy was everything I have wanted for so long.. but now.. I am seriously considering packing up and moving on". Callum sighed "I know Kate is making things difficult but can you imagine what it will be like when she does find out about the two of you... and that you have been carrying on for two months behind her back". Stevie sighed "So what I need to walk away?". He sighed "Thats not what I am saying.. you need to wake up and smell the coffee Stevie... Smithy is my best mate but all the while he is having his cake and eating it... he wont choose". She smiled "Does he love me?" she asked and the man nodded "Yeah... he does Stevie and he will choose you.. but at the moment you are the only person being hurt by this so you need to knock him into shape... make him realise he is going to lose you". She nodded slightly "You remember when we went paint balling Callum?" she smiled and he nodded "He was so different with me.." she smiled "He is a completly different person when she isnt around". Callum nodded "Believe me.. I know it.. she hates him being with me too". She smiled "I wish things were different.." he smiled "Then make things different Stevie... you have to make your own luck sweetheart and if he is what you want... then fight for him and make him fight for you".
Stevie had text Smithy and asked him to meet her at home in an hours time and as she sat on the edge of their circular bath with a towel wrapped round her, intent on making herself irrisitable for him, making him realise what he stood to lose. She heard the front bang and moved out onto the landing and glanced down at him stood at the bottom of the stairs. He smirked slightly "You wanted to see me.." he spoke as he made his way up the stairs to her "I said an hour.." he cut in "I was nearby Moss... whats up?" he asked glancing down her body as his height levelled out hers, as he stood two steps down from her. "I wanted to talk but... I erm.. I was gunna have a quick bath first.." he grabbed the split in her towel and pulled it open "I can see that" he smirked as he glanced down her body "Smithy" she smiled and he glanced up with a huge smirk on his face "DS Moss.. you are looking mighty fine.." she smiled "I havent called you here for sex.." he grinned "I know.." he moved his soft lips against hers and she wanted to resist him but she just couldnt. He pushed her back in towards the bathroom and she let her hands drop to his shirt as she ripped the buttons open to reveal his tonned torso bellow, she moved her lips down and onto his chest as her hands pulled at the buttons on his trousers.
He pushed deep inside her once again and she moaned out as his lips gently touched her neck. He had joined her only twenty minutes before and since that moment he had been making love to her on the bathroom floor. She had full intentions of ending things or at least giving him an ultimatium. His lips brushed hers and he smiled slightly at her, she placed her hands to his face and he pecked her lips "I love you" he spoke softly against her lips and she kissed him gently. He jumped as the front door opened and he pushed the bathroom door closed and flicked the lock. "Shit" he whispeared and she began to fumble with her towel round her body. The handle on the door moved and Stevie froze, "Smithy... is that you?" the woman asked and he smiled to Stevie and nodded his head before whispearing "Tell her its you". She shook her head "I cant.." she was interupted by the voice outside "Smithy" she stressed and Stevie gulped "No.. its me" she spoke and feeling his hands on her shoulders, she shrugged away from him and she sighed "I just popped home for a quick bath". Kate smiled to herself the other side of the door "Stevie.. I am going to have to inform Neil of this... and it could well be the final straw.. I want you back in the station in half an hour Stevie... we need to have words". Stevie stood on the spot, waiting for the door to slam shut, she felt Smithy wrap his arms round her and she pulled from him "Dont you dare Smithy... I am losing everything because of you.. just leave me alone". She unlocked the door and stormed out and towards her bedroom, she began to search for some clothes in her wardrobe and he sighed as he leant against her doorframe before begining to dress "I am so sorry Stevie... the last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt you". She turned to face him "End it" she stated and he smiled "What?". She nodded "Either end it with her.. today.. or me and you.. we're finished Smithy". He sighed "Stevie.." and she shook her head to dismiss him "I mean it Smithy... you end it today" she walked out of the room and he sighed before moving over and sinking onto the bed, it wasnt that he didnt want to end things with Kate, it had been his intentions for a long time but he knew she wouldnt let him go without a fight and he really didnt know how much fight he had left in him.
Stevie was late arriving home that evening and as she made her way through the door and into the living room, she sighed as she saw the couple cuddled up on the sofa, Smithy pulled from his girlfriend and smiled slightly "Youre late Stevie" he spoke and she nodded "Its a long story... I am going to bed" she turned and walked from the room and straight up the stairs. A few moments passed before the knock sounded the room. "What?" she stressed before turning to see the woman, she frowned "Now that isnt a very nice attitude.." she paused moving towards the blonde DS "Smithy and I want some privacy tonight.." Stevie cut in "This is my house too.." Kate smiled "And you wont be able to afford it if I let DCI Manson see my file on you... so do us both a favour and go out... and I will see you tomorrow" she walked off and Stevie sighed to herself, some things just werent fair and this was one of them, Kate was trying her hardest to force Stevie from Smithys life and despite how much he told her he loved her, she wasnt sure who he would actually choose now she had him forced too. She headed down the stairs and Smithy made his way from the living room, she made her way to the front door and he smiled "Where are you going?" he asked and she turned to him "Out..." she sighed as Kate appeared behind him "Dont wait up" she spoke before walking out of the door.
The next morning came all too soon and waking in her bed she sighed to herself as she glanced at the man sleeping silently next to her. Now she really had fucked it all up and she had no idea where she went next. She couldnt even remember his name, he had brought her a couple of drinks and told her that he didnt want anything serious, she couldnt quite believe she had been this stupid, she loved Smithy and all she wanted was to really make a go of things with him but it seemed she had made a huge mistake. She shook him awake and he smiled "Morning.." she nodded "Hurry up.. you need to go" he sighed "Whats the hurry sweetheart?" he asked and she smiled "Please... just hurry up". She creapt down the stairs and towards the front door "Good morning.." she turned to the woman in the door way, who stood smirking at her and the man just behind her, who she was trying to sneak out the front door "Who is this?" she asked. "No one" Stevie replied. "Matthew..." he cut in smiling "Is this your house mate Stevie?" he asked and Stevie shook her head "No.. this is his girlfriend.." she pulled the door open "It was nice to meet you Matthew.." she spoke but it seemed she was too late as Smithy made his way down the stairs "Morning.." he spoke as he eyed Matthew. Kate smiled at the man "This is Matthew, he spent the night with Stevie". She could see his heartbreaking and she moved her focus from him and gestured out the door, the man gently pecked her lips before he left "See you Stevie". She turned back to the two and he was staring at her, in a way he never had before, he had hatred in his eyes and it was breaking her heart. She headed in to the living room and sunk down, she heard the door open and close once again and she sat frozen to the chair, knowing that when he entered the room it would definitley not be short of fireworks.
