"Okay, Garfield! Just close your eyes and find your center." Raven instructed. She had a theory that if he meditated then he might be able o gain his memory back sooner. He had shown signs that it was possible for him to get his memory back. Raven watched silently as Beastboy closed his eyes and concentrated. His face was blank at first, but after a couple of minutes into the meditation his face started shifting into various different expression. "Garfield. If you can hear me tell me what you're seeing right now."
"...I see these doctors with a gold insignia on their lab coats. They have all sorts of different knifes...One of them is slicing my chest open diagnally...and poking around inside. Now they're sewing me back up, and a different one id tattooing something onto my arm..." Beastboy voice becomes increasingly louder the farther into meditation he gets. Soon, he's sobbing loudly and clenching his jaw. Raven sees this and quickly wakes him up from his trance. He stares at her for a second and then tackles her into a hug, sobbing into her shoulder. "Raven...I-I-I never want to do that again...ever!" He sobs.
"Shh Beastboy." Raven shushes while rubbing his back consolingly, "I'm just going to ask you to do one thing. What did the Insignia say?" She questions softly. He sniffles a bit before answering.
"Star Labs..."
Raven needs to know exactly who these 'Star Labs' people were, and to do that she needed to have a talk with Cyborg. She recalls him talking about how his father was one of the head scientists in the Star Labs industries. From what she heard, Beastboy was experimented on by scientists before he became part of the Doom Patrol. After dropping Beast Boy off with Starfire to help give Silky a bath, She found her way to Cyborg. Unsurprisingly, he was working on his car.
"Cyborg, we need to talk." Raven stated in a no nonsensse tone of voice. Cyborg nodded and wiped the grease off his robotic hands.
"Watcha' Need, Raven?" He questioned in his upbeat, meat-loving voice.
"While I had Beastboy meditate with me He remembered something..."
"That's awesome news, so why are you so grim?"
"What he remembered were these doctors experimenting on him, wearing lab coats with the 'Star Labs' Insignia on them. I need you to tell me what exactly Star Labs is." Raven explained. At these words Cyborg's face fell. His father worked for Star Labs, and he wouldn't even hurt a fly. Then again. he knew that his father would possibly do anything for the sake of science.
"It's a research company that produces new technology to help better humanity." Cyborg stated simply.
"I see. What is the likelihood that they would do something as inhumane as that?"
"Extremely likely." Cyborg replied with disdain. Raven nodded. She now knew for sure that Beast Boy went through a truly traumatizing experience. Yet, he was always smiling. Was the Beastboy they all knew and loved not that Beastboy, but instead just a mask of who he truly was. That explains all that pain she felt from him since they started working together. He hid it well. He told corny jokes and acted like he was extremely stupid, but Raven knows now that that was all just a coping mechanism he used to get through everything that's happened to him. She has a feeling that that wasn't the worse thing that's ever happened to him, but what she didn't know was how right she truly was.
