Emma could see the light dancing on the other side of her eye lids, but she couldn't bare to open them. She fell back to sleep with the sound of the birds outside.
The next time she woke she could feel an arm draped around her and breath tickling her hair. Regina.
Emma opened her eyes and turned in the brunette's arms, careful not to stir the older woman. She began planting light kisses across the mayors neck and jaw. "Good morning, Miss Swan."
"Don't start with that 'Miss Swan' business, all that amounts to is me wanting to mount you." Emma grinned.
"My, my, you certainly have a way with words don't you?"
"I... have... a way... with my hands... as well." The blonde said between kisses while her hand trailed across olive skin.
"You'll have to prove it." Regina sighed. Emma chuckled, her breath ticking the sensitive flesh at the mayor's neck.
"Willingly."
"Mum!" Shit! Throwing herself off Regina, the blonde landed on the floor. Hard.
"Emma, don't panic."
"Don't panic, your seven year old son is about to walk in here and I'm in bed with his mother! Don't panic!?" Where the hell did I put my pants!
"Darling, please, just sit down and breath. His first thought isn't going to be that you are sleeping with his mother, he will just be over the moon to see you. Trust me." She sat down, but still chose to fidget.
The door clicked open, "Mum?" and a little head popped through. A little brunette head with messy hair and tired eyes.
"Henry! You're home early." Emma watched Regina's eyes light up like they did whenever Henry was around.
"Hi Emma!" And true enough the Emma's presence was never regarded with suspicion, or worry, or even a second thought. She immediately relaxed, crossing her legs and leaning against the bed head next his mother.
"Hey kid. Did you have fun last night?"
Henry ran to make a spot on the bed and began telling the entire nights events, using his arms avidly to reenact every aspect. Listening to the boys stories Emma felt like she really belonged when the older woman entwined their fingers squeezing her hand, letting her know this was real.

After having breakfast with the two brunettes, Emma didn't want to over stay her welcome, so she picked up her jacket and keys and caught the attention of chocolate eyes.
"You're going?" There was a slight sadness in Regina's tone.
"I should, I mean I need to change, and there is some paper work that comes with an arrest, unfortunately."
"Will you come back?" The younger woman's heart fluttered, she was wanted, she was part of something.
"Yeah, please come back! Oh we can build a fort in the lounge room!" Anyone would think the kid was on some sort of sugar rush.
Looking Regina in the eye and smiling she sighed "I wish I didn't have to go. Of course I'll be back, the minute I'm done. See you later Henry." She ruffled his hair as she passed with Regina following her to the door. Once they were out of ear shot from Henry, the Mayor pulled Emma's back flush against her. Kissed her neck, her jaw, and then licked the shell of her ear, whispering, "Make it quick, or there will be hell to pay." A shiver went down the blonde's spine, but before she could turn to capture those sinful lips, a door was being closed behind her.

Emma had been gone five hours.
She'd decided to make David pick up the paperwork from the station and bring it to the apartment she really didn't want Neal to have the ability to ruin her perfect day, though the abundance of paperwork might. Signing the last dotted line the sheriff stood and stretched her stiff muscles. She snagged her jacket from the back of the couch where Mary Margret and David were making out. Gross. "I'm going guys! See you later?" Nothing.
Emma made a quick stop at the diner to pick up three hot drinks and some cake, hoping Regina would allow them to eat it, as an apology.
She finally stopped out the front of 108 Mifflin Street after the difficult and dangerous task of balancing the drinks and driving at the same time.
She knocked but no one answered, so with great struggle she opened the front door and called out. "Regina? Henry?" There was no acknowledgment of Emma's arrival at all, she her the television so she took off her shoes, hung up her jacket and left her bag on the table in the hall. When she opened the sliding doors to the lounge she found Regina and Henry fast asleep on the floor with the last scene of The Avengers playing through the DVD player. It was way too cute.
Emma left the two asleep, laying a light blanket over them and went to the kitchen to organize dinner. When did it get like this? So familiar. So easy.

"Mmmmm, smells good." Henry hummed appreciatively. "I didn't know you could cook."
"Hey, there's a lot you don't know about me." She smiled.
"If you are talking about you and my mum, I know. I'm seven, not stupid."
Emma's throat constricted and her heart pounded. This was not her conversation to have with the kid.
"It's ok. I mean you love her, right?" Of all the moments for Regina to wake up she chose right now, how typical. Though regardless of the pressure of her answer and her uncertainty about the mayor's feelings, Emma never missed a beat.
"Yeah. Yeah kid, I do."
Gazing into chocolate pools the blonde could feel the declaration being returned.
