As the black Mercedes parked across the road from the diner, a nervous tension grew between the two women. This would be their first public outing as a couple. There was Regina's jealous display at The Rabbit Hole but the patrons of the bar were far too inebriated to take much notice. This simple dinner would paint a very obvious picture for a very gossipy town. Sensing each others nerves they reached out to intertwine their hands, and gave a comforting squeeze. "Uh, are we going to get out?" Henry piped up. Regina nodded and he shot from the car like a rocket.
"You ok? I don't have to go in, we can tell Henry I had something to do at the station."
"Don't be ridiculous, dear. If you leave, I will miss the opportunity to destroy the hopes of all Storybrooks…"eligible" bachelors."
They shared an easy laugh and got out of the car feeling a little more relaxed. Emma jumped when an unusually small hand slipped into hers, she looked down at Henry, who was also holding Regina's hand, and noticed the content smile on the kid's face.
Taking a deep breath in the younger woman pushed open the door, the now ominous bell signalling their arrival, then held it open for mother and son. Thankfully the diner was currently rather empty, though the customers didn't even try to hide the blatant staring. In order to make it interesting for them and really give them a show, Emma took a few quick steps so she was in stride with the brunette and linked their hands. She saw several mouths drop open, heard one gasp and someone had dropped their fork.
It was no secret to Emma that the entire town had their qualms with the brunette; she was after all a tough mayor, fair but firm. However, to have so many people invested in your unhappiness that they couldn't believe someone would give you a chance? That was ridiculous and rude.
"Oh get back to your food before it goes cold!" snapped Granny, which not only showed her support for the couple but helped them both relax. Regina sent a warm smile to the woman behind the counter and slid into her favourite booth next to her son, the sheriff sitting opposite her, hands still holding one another.
Once back at the mansion, with no further issues at the diner, Regina hung her sons coat before doing the same with her own. The sight of the brunette removing any article of clothing left Emma's mouth completely dry, while other parts of her were quite the opposite.
"What are you staring at?"
"You." The simple truth.
"Hmmm. Drink?" The blonde just nodded and followed her lover to the living room.
"Dinner was nice." For some reason Emma couldn't shake the feeling that there was something bothering Regina.
"It was. Though, you really didn't have to pay for all of us."
Taking the glass of wine offered to her, the blonde continued to push. "Don't think anything of the people at the diner, they really just need to pull their head out of their ass." "Thank you for the crass comment, dear. I don't think anything of it; they are entitled to their opinion."
This caused the sheriff to frown, something was wrong. "Regina" She took an olive hand in her own. "Are you alright? You seem a bit...I don't know. Just a bit tense, I guess."
The mayor let out a sigh. "Sorry. Dinner tonight, it made me think…well actually a lot of things recently have made me think…about you," she let go of Emma's hand and the blonde felt like her stomach was full of rocks. "And us…what we are doing…"
"Regina, its ok, if…if this isn't what you want, it's ok, I get it." There was a noticeable crack in her voice as she chocked back tears.
"Not what I want?" Soft fingers caressed a pale cheek before cupping it. "Emma, I want more. I…I want you to move in with me. If you would like to?"
"Oh thank god." Emma released the breath she was holding.
"Excuse me?" The brunette quirked an eye brow.
"You had me thinking the worst, I mean god woman, you couldn't have acted more excited about me moving in?"
"About you moving in? Is that you saying yes?"
"Yes! Of course yes!" The younger woman wrapped her arms around the mayor's waist and crashed their lips together, not able to suppress the smile on her lips.
Just a short one, felt like I should end it there :)
If there is anything you would like me to work into my fic let me know and I will have a shot at it.
