And he is kneeling.

Dean had been staring at the clock the entire morning. He hadn't slept all night, so when the first light of dawn peeked over the horizon, he went to the coupé where they had dinner and such, and sat down in front of the clock.

Effie had told him they would probably get to 12 around half past two in the afternoon, and it was only twelve-thirty.

So when Portia walked in to apply make-up at two o'clock, anticipation grew in his chest.

And when at last Effie came to get him at two-twenty-five, he was happy enough to go.

"Wait until the train stops," She instructed him. "The door will open automatically and you have to step onto the platform and wave. You're live in the other Districts and in the Capitol, so behave yourself."

Finally, after what seemed a lifetime, the train stopped and the door opened.

"Chin up, smile on." Effie instructed, and she pushed him out.

Dean walked unto the platform and waved at the cheering inhabitants of District 12.

His leg was sore and his heart was ripped apart, but he couldn't help but smile at all those happy faces, all those people who would get to eat for a year because he won.

He looked around for Sammy, but was distracted by a girl on the front row.

She was a couple of years younger than his brother, dressed in a nice, blue dress and her dark brown hair was in a long braid over her shoulder.

She was holding hands with another girl, presumably her sister, but Dean wasn't sure since the smaller girl had blond hair and blue eyes.

But it wasn't the girls appearances that distracted him. it was the way they interacted.

And it was the way how the older girl looked into his eyes and nodded.

'I would do it too, you know, for her.' Her stern, brown eyes said. 'Kill, be killed, win. For her, I would.'

Dean ripped his gaze loose from the sisters when he heard Sam call his name.

He ignored any further orders from Effie and ran off the platform towards his brother, swooping him up in a hug.

"You did it." Sam said. "You came back."

Dean nodded.

He was there.

And he was kneeling.
