Thanks to Wilhelm Wigworthy, StarsMonsters and millap, just found out how to check my reviews, (yes, it's taken me this long) anyway, thanks guys, you made my day, well, you made my night (doesn't that sound wrong :/), I'm rambling, just wanted to say thanks. 3
She sat on her bed, fiddling once again with her manipulator, she knew Dasdre was safe, but how and why still scared her. She sighed and got up. Abi went to the door, that was unlocked, the Master had apparently trusted enough to go around the Valiant, but she needed a guard with her. So she went to the barriers and asked a guard to come with her to the flight deck, she asked the guard to her right, Taylor, he was young and in her opinion the nicer of the two guards outside her room.
"Taylor, can I go to the flight deck?",
He smiled at her and nodded, unlocking the gates. He led her through the Valiant, always behind her. She got to the lifts and waited till the doors slid open like they always did. She was greeted by the Master grinning at her, then resuming dancing. She walked in, no longer needing Taylor behind her, she approached the tent, and sat next to it. Suddenly the Master, pulled her up and against him and started dancing stupidly to the Scissor Sisters. She pulled herself away from him,
"Getting a bit old don't you think?", he asked, over the music,
"What is?",
"Pretending you don't want me",
She stared at him, actually amazed he could say that, "You've murdered just about 6 billion innocent people, you think I'm attracted to that" she growled. He scowled, shaking his head,
"No, no, you're attracted to any old American Captain." he stated, angrily, behind him the Doctor crawled out of his tent,
"Who? Jack ?", She asked, confused as ever, she looked over at the Doctor who was looking down. The Master turned to see the Doctor looking sheepish,
"Oh, oh he knows", the Master said,
"Knows what? Doctor?", Abi snapped.
"Oh, it's ready to rise, Doctor. The new Time Lord Empire. It's good, isn't it? Isn't it good? Anything? No? Anything?", Abi scowled at the Master as she helped the Doctor onto his wheelchair, "Oh, but they broke your hearts, didn't they, those Toclafane, ever since you worked out what they really are. They say Martha Jones has come back home. Now why would she do that?" The Master said, crouching beside him.
"Leave her alone." The Doctor growled,
"But you said something to her, didn't you? On the day I took control. What did you tell her?", The Master pressed on, almost hissing in the Doctor ear, he looked up at Abi, raising an eyebrow at her,
"Well?",
"Well what?", she snapped back,
"What did he say?", he hissed, glaring at her.
She looked at him, then at the Doctor, then back, looking him dead in the eyes, "We have one thing to say to you. You know what it is.", she stated.
The Master shot up, knowing already what she was going to say, he moved away from them, "Oh no, you don't!". He bounded up the steps, "Come on, people! What are we doing? Launch Day in twenty four hours".
Abi looked at the Doctor, he looked desperately into her eyes, "Listen to me, you need to go to him",
"Jack?", she guessed,
"You love him Abi, you know you do",
She shook her head, "I don't understand, I haven't seen him before in my life",
The Doctor glanced at the Master then back, "Find him, look him in the eye and then tell me you don't feel something". The Doctor said.
"What about you?", She asked, eyeing the Master who was watching them talking,
"I'll be fine", he smiled, and in that smile she saw the Doctor, the young Doctor.
She kissed his cheek and stood up looking at the Master, he smirked down at her and jumped down the steps, "Hello beautiful",
"I need something", she stated, walking up to him, he nodded,
"I know",
"Did you hear?",
"Time Lord ears, of course I heard but then you wouldn't know, being human", he sneered at her, though there was no real hate.
She looked at the Doctor who raised his eyebrows, she looked back, "I wanna go see Jack", she stated,
"You can't just boss everyone", the Master scoffed,
"This coming from 'Our Lord and Master?", she shot back,
"Like you're not gonna plan something", he said, eyeing her suspiciously.
"And risk Dasdre? No. I just want to see him", she repeated, the Master raised his eyebrows and she rolled her eyes, "Please", she added.
The Master grinned, "Fine", he said reluctantly, "But you're going with a guard, I hope you know", he added.
Abi was already leaving, she waved her arms, "Yeah, cool", she dismissed. The Master scoffed and rolled his eyes.
Abi was walking back through the many corridors with Taylor just behind her, she was dressed in a maids outfit, carrying a tray of horrible looking food, she didn't get it, she was given alright food compared to everyone else's, decent. She really didn't get the Master. She got to the door, where Jack was, she went in but turned to Taylor,
"You wouldn't mind staying outside?", she asked, hopeful,
Taylor looked uneasy, but after a while he sighed, "Yeah, yeah okay",
"Thanks, Taylor", she smiled and went in, taking a deep breath.
"Morning, Tish. Ah, smell that sea air.-", Jack trailed off when he saw it wasn't in fact Tish he was talking to, "Oh, hi",
Abi smiled and set the tray at the table, "Hello, coping?",
"Yeah, what do I get to eat today? Cold mashed swede. Some hotel. Last time I book over the Internet.", he mumbled,
Abi chuckled, she lifted the spoon to his mouth, but he shook his head, "No, listen if you don't eat you'll..Ah", she stopped, realising her point was invalid seeing as he was immortal. "Ugh, you're filthy", she grimaced,
"I haven't washed", he defended,
"Clearly", Abi mumbled, he looked at her,
"Why are you here?", he asked, looking at her hopefully,
"Uhh I dunno, I was bored I guess-",
"Is he treating you right?",
"I'm fine Jack, he doesn't hurt me, more like slaughters planet Earth everyday but hey...", she looked down, not wanting to think of that.
"Abi?", Jack asked, wanting to bend to see her face but what with him being changed up, it made things more difficult, she sniffed and looked back up,
"Ah, fixed points, annoying", she said, she frowned at him, thinking back to what the Doctor said,
"What?", he asked, feeling nervous,
She laughed, slightly embarrassed, "It's just...Doctor says I know you...", she looked into his eyes, a small smile graced Jack's face, as if he was pleased that the Doctor said that, but his joy was cut short, Abi shook her head, "...but I don't know you,...do I?". She sighed, "He said I love you", she frowned, "How can I if I don't even know who you are?",
Jack honestly didn't know what to say, he didn't whether he should lie or tell the truth. But he didn't have to say anything, because just then she pressed her lips onto his, delicately at first, starting off slow. He wished he had his arms so he could pull her in and kiss her more passionately. One arm wound around his neck and one around his torso, he moaned softly, finally relived to have her. That's when she started smiling into the kiss, she broke away from him. He stole one more quick peck, before she got too far away for him to reach her. She stroked his cheek, so softly he almost didn't feel it,
"I don't understand you, Jack",
"Neither do I", he said, gently. She leaned in again and placed another gentle kiss, one he sighed into, she pulled back abruptly,
"I can't...", she trailed off,
"Abi?", Taylor's voice drifted through, "We need to go, the Master said 5 minutes", he warned,
"Ok, I'll be right there", she moved away from Jack, she glanced at Jack, contemplating everything that had happened, she shook her head and whispered, "Can't do this". She turned, not giving him a second glance as she left his room. Once she was out she breathed out a sigh as she leaned against the door.
"Ok?", Taylor asked, she looked up and smiled,
"I will be".
Abi went back to the flight deck, sitting on the steps closest to the Doctor. She kept her head down as she fiddled with her manipulator she sighed and glanced to the tent beside her,
"Doctor?" she called, voice slightly hushed. She heard rustling inside and then the Doctor crawled out, smiling slightly. "What happens now?, she asked,
The Doctor didn't say anything, for fear of the Master hearing, he just looked at her and winked, this told her everything she needed to know at that moment. The Master bounded in the room, with guards behind him, pulling Jack behind him, Abi stiffened as the Doctor got on his wheelchair. He didn't know whether she stiffened because of the Master or because of the Jack just coming in.
"Friends", the Master began, arms outstretched, Abi eyed him, wondering what he had planned. He gave a single clap and grinned around the room, but soon his eyes fixed on the Doctor, he glared at him, "Haven't planned anything? Nope, nothing? You're boring granddad", he sneered, devilishly. "I keep hearing things, about Miss Jones, tell me, what is she up to? Do you know?", he addressed Abi too, she just smiled, knowing it would annoy him. Which it did. He glared at her and approached her, glancing back slightly to see Jack's eyes following him. "Do you want to tell me what happened, then?", he demanded,
"If I did would it make a difference to your life?", she asked, also glaring.
"Yes".
"I don't get you, what do you want from me?", she hissed, really getting annoyed at his behavior, "Are you bipolar or something cos I really don't understand why you haven't killed me yet",
"What?!", he exclaimed,
"You won't kill the Doctor, he was your friend and don't deny it, you can't kill Jack and the Jones' are your bargaining chip for Martha, so why am I not dead?", she demanded. Now this argument was only heard by the people closest, which where the Doctor, Jack and Jack's guard, who was, funnily enough, Taylor.
"I can't kill you", he spat back, inching closer to her, she flapped her arms about in exasperation.
"Why?!". Suddenly the Master gripped the back of her neck towards him, and crushed her lips to his, her eyes snapped open immediately. She struggled to break free as he had a tight hold on her waist and neck. His eyes flickered open momentarily, and they flashed gold before he shut them again. The Doctor saw this, Jack did not. The gold flash in the Masters eyes was him showing Abi his pain, and because of the sudden wave of emotions she stopped struggling, but she didn't kiss back. After a few intense moments of emotional limbo she regained her sense and yanked him off her, she stood there, eyes wide, gasping and confused before she exclaimed,
"What the hell was that?!",
The Master smirked at her, "I kissed you and you let me", he said, smugly. She shook her head at him, pointing an accusing finger,
"No, no, no, don't you turn this around, what was that, you messed with my head, what was it?", she asked again. Behind her Jack was absolutely fuming, he knew the only reason he was brought in there was to see that. He clenched his fist, which didn't go unnoticed by Taylor. The Master glanced at the Doctor who was mid thinking, probably already working it out, he mused.
"I showed you my...emotions", he explained.
"Explain", Jack ordered, not caring about the consequences,
"I opened up my mind to her, showed her what I felt, what the drums did to me", he elaborated.
"Why?", Jack ask with gritted teeth,
Abi scowled at the Master, "What, because you thought I'd feel sorry for you?", she accused, "You're sick", she spat, and with that she turned and walked to the Doctor's side, deliberately to hurt him. The Master stared at her, eyes burning with rage, he momentarily closed his eyes, then opened them and turned to a screen, flicking it on.
"My people. Salutations on this, the eve of war. Lovely woman. But I know there's all sorts of whispers down there. Stories of a child, walking the Earth, giving you hope.", Abi took in a breath at the mention of her friend,
"But I ask you", the Master indicated for the Doctor to be brought, some guards dragged him away form Abi's side, she tried to protest but a guard threatened her. When the Doctor got to the Master's side he continued his rant,
"How much hope has this man got? Say hello, Gandalf. Except he's not that old, but he's an alien with a much greater lifespan than you stunted little apes. But what if it showed?", Abi looked on, terrified at what the Doctor was about to go through, "What if I suspend your capacity to regenerate? All nine hundred years of your life, Doctor. What if we could see them?", The Master glared down at the Doctor, angrily. The Master aimed his laser at the Doctor, and pressed down, sending the Doctor into painful convulsions. Abi stared at the Doctor, on the floor, once again.
"Master", she called, "Master stop",
He ignored her, "Older and older and older. Down you go, Doctor.",
"Stop it!", she cried, stepping towards them, not caring at the guns being aimed at her,
"Down, down, down the years.",
"Koschei!",
He stopped at the mention of his name, but it looked like it was too late, all that was left on the floor was the Doctor's crumpled suits, both she and Jack stared at the pile.
"Doctor.", the Master called, gruffly, with a hint of concern. They all watched in anticipation as a tiny creature crawled out of the pile, looking up with his big brown eyes. Abi gasped as the Master's eyes widened. The Master sniffed and turned back to the screen,
"Received and understood, Miss Jones?", he snapped before disconnecting the call. Abi looked at Jack then back down at the Doctor who looked up at her, she smiled and bent down to pick him up. She fumbled over how to carry him, she didn't want to carry him like a baby, or put him on her shoulder like a bird, in the end she sat on the steps and let him sit on her lap. Jack got pulled away to the side away from Abi on the Masters orders. Abi sat, with the Doctor looking back at her,
"This is nine hundred years", he sighed, she smiled,
"Looking good Time Lord",
He scoffed and she nodded, "No, yeah, you look like Yoda", she stated, he stared at her but they began laughing, which caught the attention of everyone else. The Master raised an eyebrow at them,
"What?", he asked, less angry than earlier. She didn't respond, just stared him down, "Send the freak to his cage", he ordered, still staring at Abi as she glanced in Jack's direction, Abi looked at Jack as he was being pulled away as smiled softly, he grinned back making her smile grow. The Master saw this and scowled the both of them,
"When you get there I want more kills", he ordered just as Jack disappeared into the lift. Abi sighed and looked at the Doctor who offered her a sympathetic smile.
Abi had decided to sleep in the flight deck, closer to the Doctor, just to feel safer, Taylor was just outside the room, to guard the both of them and as far as Abi was concerned she couldn't ask for a better guard. They stayed up, talking about what would happen, remembering to not say too much in case someone was listening in. The Doctor spoke about Martha and his abandoned feelings for Rose, he told her about the Time War and what Gallifrey was like, especially the rumours about Salia. She told him about the creation of Dasdre and her sort of encounter with a future him, she could only tell him limited things about it though. After a couple more hours Abi had slept on the ground, which was uncomfortable, but she didn't care. She also wasn't aware that the Master had crept in, to speak with the Doctor but was surprised to see Abi there. He frowned at her sleeping body and looked at the Doctor, slowly he placed his hand on her cheek and stroked it gently, she seemed to find in comforting because she sighed and nuzzled his hand. His hearts skipped a beat. The Doctor glared at him, knowing that Abi didn't love him, she loved Jack and was disgusted that the Master could think otherwise. She sighed again and her eyes snapped open, she saw the hand and shot up, staring at the Master in shock,
"What the hell?!",
"Ah sleeping beauty", the Master murmured before glancing back at the Doctor, "Tomorrow, they launch, Doctor. We're opening up a rift in the Braccatolian space. They won't see us coming. It kind of scary.", he whispered.
"Braccatolian system?", Abi asked, glancing at the Doctor who knew why she was concerned, "That's...Dasdre", she frowned, unsure,
"Yeah", the Master said, "But I said I'd protect Dasdre and I will",
Abi glared at him, "Why? Why protect Dasdre and not the other planets",
The Master shrugged,
"Stop", the Doctor ordered,
"Once the Empire is established, and there's a new Gallifrey in the heavens, maybe then it stops. The drumming. The never ending drumbeat. Ever since I was a child. I looked into the vortex. That's when it chose me. The drumming, the call to war. Can't you hear it? Both of you, listen, it's there now. Right now. Tell me you can hear it, Doctor. Tell me.",
"It's only you.", The Doctor growled. Abi nodded,
"Good.", the Master said firmly, Abi rolled her eyes and was about to say something but a sphere floated into the room,
"Tomorrow, the war. Tomorrow we rise, never to fall.", it proclaimed. Abi looked at the sphere, she shook her head,
"They can't be human", she whispered, denying it
"You see? I'm doing it for them. You should be grateful. After all, you love them so very, very much.", the Master mocked, looking at Abi more than the Doctor, she sighed and looked at the Doctor, wrapping her hands around his cage as the Master sat on one of the chairs and started talking
"I went back to Utopia. Trillions of years into the future, to the end of the universe. Do you know what I saw?", he asked, knowing they already knew. Abi looked down. She didn't want the Master to dwell on it, when suddenly she felt a spike, a sharp pain in her head and she bend over clutching her stomach and groaning,
"Ahhh", she whimpered. Master immediately held her, trying to pull her up straight, she resistant quite weakly, he looked in her eyes,
"Abi? Abi, what is it? What wrong, what it is?", he panicked, he looked at the Doctor who was pressed up against the metal bars, eyes wide, as if they weren't wide already.
"Abi?", he called,
"Doctor", she whimpered again, "It's..ahhhhhhh", the Master shook her softly, she groaned and latched her arms around his neck, he gasped a little at the contact before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulled her against him, he buried his face in her hair and whispered soothing words, he felt her relax against him, the Doctor glared at him, not liking the hug, he growled,
"Abi, what's wrong?",
"The Time Lords, they're messing with me", she gasped, clinging onto the Master tighter which made him wince a bit, "Sorry, sorry", she mumbled, gritting her teeth and beginning to let go but her brought her in closer,
"Hold me as much as you want, but explain it please", he mumbled kissing her cheek, she sighed feeling better, she took a deep breath,
"They're messing my head, I was the smartest Time Lord in existence, of course they would want me", she cried. He rubbed her back soothingly, peppering kisses on her cheek and hair, she leaned in as the pain died down and with the pain gone she realised she was hugging the Master and she punched him off and frowned,
"It's gone", she muttered and looked at the Doctor, "What was that?", he shook his head and she leaned him, frowning, completely ignoring the Master.
"They probably just them syncing your connection",
"I'm not a computer", she rolled her eyes, "Does that mean I'm gonna get sent back?",
"Possibly", he sighed, Abi looked back at the Master who frowned at her,
"What do you mean get sent back?", he demanded, she glanced at the Doctor who shook his head gently, she glanced back to the Master,
"You stop the massacre of Earth and then we'll talk", she spat. Immediately she walked off, not looking back at him,
She walked down the corridors, hands in her pockets and her head down, she was thinking whilst she walked back to her room, she knew Taylor would be waiting outside for her because he still thought she was with the Master in the flight deck so she had time. She, by chance walked past Jack room, where she heard gun shots. She bolted in to she the guards standing about a foot away form Jack dead and limp body. She glared at them,
"What are you doing, the Master said save your bullets! And the Doctor is in the flight deck unguarded!" she yelled authoritatively, and to her surprise it worked. When they had left she looked back at Jack's bruised and scar still dead body and sighed, using a bullet she chipped away the chains that held him up and when the last chain fell he collapsed, she was strong and held him but she was quickly losing her strength and had to place him on the floor. She got up and picked up a jug of water to the side, then she ripped off the cloth from her arm and dipped it in the water. He began to groaned as he felt something wet on him, he frowned not understanding why he wasn't being pulled up by chains. His eyes fluttered open and widened when he saw Abi's face,
"Am I dreaming?", he mumbled,
"Who knows?", she shrugged, dabbing his wounds, "How many times do they kill you a day?",
"I don't know, its depressing to count", he winced, feeling the coolness of the water on his chin, where he'd been hit repeatedly with the butt of a gun. She brushed her hand across the purplish colour, he leaned into her touch.
"Why are you here?", he whispered,
"I heard gun shots", she sighed, "Can't believe he's killing you".
"I'm fine",
Her eyes shot up, almost angrily, "Really? Fine?".
"Abi.."
"You're so...", she groaned,
"So what?"
She rolled her eyes and bent down to fully kiss him, he sighed into the kiss, happy that this time he got to wrap his arms around her, their mouths molded together as he pulled her against him, one hand around her waist, stroking her back soothingly and one around her neck. She had both hands in his hair but one trailed down to his chest, since he was lying down she was left on top of him. After a few intimate moment she began smiling, feeling stupid for not realising her love. She was smiling so much that she had to pull away from him, she looked at him and then his chin again and kissed it, then began peppering his chin with soft kisses, letting them trail down to his neck as he sighed and moaned at the feel. She also sighed, feeling content.
"Abi?", he whispered,
"Jack" she replied,
"We can't sleep here", she looked up and around where they where,
"Oh", she got off him and pulled him up, with him slightly wincing at the pain of his abused arms, she looked at the door, and then back at the broken the chains.
"Come with me", she said, simply.
"What?",
"Come with me, to my room, sleep and just sleep, with me", she asked,
"I can't, the Master, he-",
"Won't hurt you, trust me.",
"What, are you best buds now?", Jack muttered, bitterly. Abi raised her eyebrows, quite annoyed, he smiled, in apology and pulled her for a brief peck, before mumbling another sorry against her lips
"What about the guards?",
"There is only one outside my room and he's friendly, so...",
"Yeah, sure".
They had to sneak past a few patrols and when they got to the corridor her room was in, Taylor saw them a mile off and his eye's widened,
"Abi", he hissed, worriedly,
"Please Taylor, please let him stay for the night", she pleaded,
"Abi I can't, the Master will kill me", he said, panicking.
Abi shook her head, "He won't lay a glove on you, I promise", she said, firmly. Taylor reluctantly nodded and let them enter. Jack looked at her room and scoffed,
"Not exactly first class", he said, but was smiling.
"Hey, it's better than your place any day", she said, getting her clothes from the cupboard beside her bed, she laid her clothes out and began undressing, once again not minding if he was watching, so he did this time. Her body was perfect, beyond perfect, she had beautiful curves and a sexy caramel natural tan. She had her bottom half pjs on with just her black bra on, she looked at him, eyebrows raised,
"Should you really be looking?", she questioned, though she didn't care,
"Nope, but I know you don't mind", he said, smugly, she rolled her eyes and put on a oversized shirt, when she got her sight back she saw him sprawled out on the bed, looking up at the ceiling in awe. Her room was all kinds of special, the ceiling being one of them. When she got her room the first thing she noticed was the ceiling and how Dasdre was painted on it, by who she did not know but it definitely had something to do with the Master. And Jack was frowning at it.
"He loves you", he stated, emotionless.
"I know", Abi admitted, of course he did, "I was the only one who tried to help, there not a lot of other people he could love", she shrugged, getting in beside him. Immediately he reached out for her, she scowled at him,
"I, uhh, I don't really cuddle", she said, feeling awkward about the whole thing,
"Before you met me you didn't really fall in love", he pointed out.
She scoffed, "In love?",
"Yeah",
"I don't, I don't love you", she shook her head, he raised his eyebrows, challenging her. And she gave in, "Well, you love me too!", she said, accusingly.
"Too?",
"It's, no, that's not..", she struggled, "Oh fine! So I love you, big deal (!)", she rolled her eyes and turned her back towards him, feeling immensely embarrassed. He chuckled and shuffled over to spoon her, he kissed her cheek,
"I love you more", he whispered,
"Not possible", she murmured into the pillow, before sighing and turning back to him, she gave in and let him cuddle her and surprisingly it felt nice. They fell into the best sleep of their lives, holding each other.
The Master was storming through the hallways, there were few things he would let Abi do, one, spend time with the Doctor and two be able to walk freely around the Valiant. But keeping secrets from him was not one of them, so he was going to get what he needed from her but when he blew past the guard outside her room and saw her sleeping gently he knew he wasn't going to hurt the woman he loved for anything. Then he saw a body sleeping next to her, Jack Harkness, he softly growled. That was another thing he didn't get, why was she attracted to someone of a different species, humans, albeit, immortal ones weren't a Time Lords usual choice. He would've been less surprised if she was in a relationship with the Doctor.
At the present he was watching her sleeping with someone that wasn't him and he didn't allow it, so extremely quietly he brought out his laser and used a setting that would kill Jack painlessly. Not because he was showing compassion, just so that he wouldn't make a cry of pain that would wake Sali- Abi. He called in some guards to pull Jack's body away as he took of his shoes. When Jack was pulled away Abi started to stir in her sleep and the Master took this as his cue to jump into the bed and assume Jack's previous position, Abi seemed to cuddle back into the Master, even more that with Jack in his opinion. And even though every mumble of 'Jack' that fell from her lips struck his hearts he still slept peacefully that night.
