She opened the door slowly. There was no light in the small room. However, thanks to the light beaming in from the window to her left, she was able to see, very little but enough to see a shadow ahead of her. "Kevin?" she called out as she stepped farther into the room. She knew it was Kevin so she slowly walked towards him. She looked around but there was no sign of Derek. "Where's Derek?" She continued to walk towards him. He remained silent. She was finally only a few feet away from him.
"I missed you…'' he grinned and reached up to caress her cheek. She pulled away a bit, dodging his touch. His face fell serious. "Where is Derek?" She repeated. It was getting darker. She sensed a negative vibe. She looked around again."He's not in here but he's fine. I don't know why you're so concerned about him,'' He huffed. She looked at him. "Are you gonna let him go now?" She looked back and took a step closer to her. "Are you coming with me?" She stayed silent before slowly nodding. A smiled grew upon his face. "This way.'' He held her by her arm and pulled her along towards a door in the back Penelope had failed to see earlier. He pushed her ahead of him and followed. He looked back occasionally to be sure no one was following them. They finally got to the end of the hall. He opened the door and stepped out in front of her. It was an empty lot with a single car, Kevin's. He turned back to her. There was more light than inside, she noticed a bruise that covered most of his cheek bone. She looked away and he pulled out his car keys. He unlocked the car and opened the door for Penelope. She got in, then he did and started the car.
Derek was sitting in the corner of a room facing the wall. Kevin had somehow managed to tie him up on a chair. The room was quiet. He couldn't hear anything but his own breathing which was getting louder for some reason. He began squirming around trying to break loose. It was no use. He gave up and groaned. He let his head fall back. Penelope had agreed to meet up with Kevin. He didn't know where Kevin was but he was almost positive he had taken Penelope, which only upset him more. He had seen what he had done to her before. He soon began kicking again in an effort to break away.
''It's been almost half an hour.'' JJ looked over at Hotch who was staring at the building. ''What if he took her?" She too looked back at the building, she was getting impatient but she knew she wasn't the only one. Spencer was also focused on Hotch. "Maybe we could cover the building from all sides." Reid nodded. JJ turned to him and nodded.
They made their way towards the building. Hotch was covering the parking. She looked around and noticed there were no cars around. How would Lynch have gotten there and with Derek. He moved towards the back door, the team followed behind him. They held their weapons tightly as they made their way through the dark hall. They came across a door to the left. They stopped in front of it. Hotch looked at them and with a single nod of notice, Spencer kicked the door open. The room was completely dark. Spencer moved his flashlight around until they found Derek in the corner. They rushed over and untied him. "Are you okay?" JJ looked at him as he was helped up and she noticed his busted lip. "Yeah, he has Penelope. Doesn't he?"
Penelope was quiet throughout the ride. She looked out the window. Kevin occasionally looked over at her. Penelope sighed quietly. She didn't recognize the road they traveled. It was empty and dark; they were the only ones on the road. She turned and looked straight ahead. They pulled up to some sort of cabin. She looked over at him; he turned the car off and unbuckled his seat belt. Penelope unbuckled her seatbelt and they both stepped out. She closed the door and stood by the car. He went around, looked at her and headed for the door. He pulled out key and opened the door. He waited for her to step in and followed after her.
She slowly made her way in and looked around. She turned back to him. He smiled, ''Have a seat.'' She looked over at the couch then back at him, "Actually, I was wondering if I could use your bathroom." She trailed off as she saw him step closer. She took a step back and he nodded. "Right this way." She stepped around her and headed for the hallway. She followed him. They go to a door and he stopped and turned to look at her. "Thank you.'' She stepped in and locked the door behind her. She looked around and quickly reached for her phone. She saw it was dying and wasted no time. She turned on the GPS and found her location. She managed to send it to the team right before her phone shut off. She proceeded to use the bathroom; she washed her face and looked at herself in the mirror. How had she managed to get herself in this position, she asked herself.
The team was headed back to the BAU when they got Penelope's message. They quickly turned and headed back towards Penelope's location.
After a few minutes Penelope stepped out of the bathroom. She went back to the living room and found Kevin sitting on the couch. She looked at him as she made her way to the couch. She sat on the other end and stared at the fire Kevin had started while she was in the bathroom. "It's nice in here isn't it?" He turned to her. She looked at him and nodded. "Can I get you anything to drink or eat?" He scooted a little closer to her. "No thank you." She looked back at the fire. He continued to stare at her. She bit her lip before turning back to him. "What do you want from me, Kevin?" He looked at the wall and leaned back. "Hm, nothing really." He shrugged. "I'm just gonna keep you here." Penelope looked at hi a bit confused. "I'm not gonna hurt you again, unless you do something to deserve it.'' He chuckled. Her brows furrowed as she looked at him.
He got up and grabbed two glasses and a bottle of wine. He poured some into the first glass then the second one. He walked back to the couch and set them down on the coffee table. "It's your favorite." He smiled. She stared at it then looked down at her hands. He grabbed the glass and held it up to her. She looked at the glass then him before taking it. He continued to watch her, waiting for her to drink it. She was starting to feel uncomfortable being stared down by Kevin. She finally gave in and took a sip. He smiled and returned to his spot. She took another sip and set it back down.
The team was only a few more minutes away from the location Penelope had sent them. It was past mid night by then, there were no cars and it was dark, only the headlights to light the way. They finally got to the location. It was the only cabin around. They stepped out of the car and made their way to the door.
Both Kevin and Penelope heard the cars turn off. Kevin looked at Penelope, then a there was a knock on the door. Penelope turned to it, in hope it was finally the team. Kevin got up and walked over to the door. He opened it, smile fading, and quickly tried to close it again. He was stopped by Derek's foot. He looked at him then was pushed back when Derek opened the door. Penelope got up and they made their way in. JJ walked over to Penelope and asked her if she was okay. They made their way to the door. "You told them where we were?!" Kevin shouted at Penelope. Derek pushed him in while Penelope and JJ went out to the car.
Derek pushed him into the kitchen, teeth clenched. One more reason was all he needed to beat some sense into Lynch. "I bet you think you're the tough guy now.. Now that you saved Penelope.'' He said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes. "You know, it's not very nice to make someone think something could happen between you two.'' He shook his head and looked at him. "She thinks you guys can be more than friends but, we both know that's not going to happen. You'll just sleep with her then act as if nothing, like you do with the rest.'' She wasn't a one night stand to Derek. He took a step closer and swung at him, then again, and again, until he was pulled off. Kevin looked at Derek, "You're mad because you know it's true.'' He grinned and looked at the rest of the team. "Stay away from her!" Derek shouted as they left. Kevin watched them get to the cars before closing the door behind him.
Penelope was sitting in the backseat when the door was opened. She saw Derek and smiled, so did JJ. She stepped out and let Derek in. He sat beside her and closed the door. They looked at each other for a few second before her eyes got watery and he wrapped his arms around her. She leaned into his embrace and rest her head on his chest. "Are you okay?" She looked up at him. "I got scared when JJ and I walked in and I found the note from Kevin…'' She trailed off. "I'm fine.'' He gave her a comforting smiled and rubbed her back. "What about you? Did he do anything to you while we got here?" He pulled back a little and looked at her. She shook her head and smiled back at him. He pulled her close again and rest his head on top of hers. "He won't be bugging you anymore." She chuckled. "I wouldn't be too sure." She sighed. "Well, I am. I'm gonna make sure he doesn't go near you.'' She couldn't help but smiled again.
The team made their way back and into the cars. They drove back to the BAU. The ride was quiet, no one really spoke. They finally got to the parking. Penelope got out first then Derek. She looked back at him and laughed a little. "My car's not here." She looked back at the space where her car normally was. They had taken JJ's car from her apartment to Derek's place earlier. He walked over, threw an arm over her shoulder and they walked to his car. He opened the door for her, she smiled and stepped in before he closed the door. He went around and got in/ He put his seatbelt on, started the car, and pulled out of the parking lot. He drove towards her apartment.
The car ride was quiet, yet again. They didn't do much talking. The occasionally exchanged looks and smiled a little. The drive felt a little longer than usual. Throughout the ride, Derek kept thinking about what Kevin had said and how much it had gotten him mad. It wasn't true. He would never do anything to hurt her.
They pulled up to her apartment. He parked the car and turned to her. He had come up with the conclusion that he was in love with his baby girl. "Thank you." She smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek. He looked at her and cupped her face before softly placing a kiss on her lips.
