Hi! I'm back! Thank you for all favs, follows and reviews XD
Kuroko no Basket is not mind, it belongs to Fujimaki Tadatoshi.
English is not my native language, so I apologize for mistakes I may have made during the chapter.
The original chapter I've planned is very long, so I cut it to 2 parts. [Maybe 3 parts if I want to add something more.]
Please tell me if you want anything else to be added to the story or even in the next chapter. I want to know what do you think about this story and what do you think I should add in it :)
Chapter VII – Troubles I
Furihata Kouki was a typical high school student. He believed that his life wouldn't have changed so much in such one night.
It's around 11 PM when Furihata decided to head up to bed. His parents were already in there room, watching some movies.
However, a knocked on the door stopped him when he was about to turned off the lights in the living room.
Knock! Knock!
Furihata frowned. He walked to the door and decided against it. He moved to the window and drew the curtain up to see who was at the door.
The first thing he saw was a pair of red fox ears.
Furihata blinked before he realized that there was a child with fox ears and tail standing in front of the door. He blinked again before Kuroko's story hit him. He and his ex-teammate had been turned in to kids with fluffy ears and tails.
So,...this couldn't be...
Then he saw a pair of mismatched eyes. Furihata gulped.
Akashi Seijuro was standing in front of his house.
That demon captain of Rakuzan was standing in front of his house.
While Furihata was fidgeting in front of the door, Akashi knocked again. This time Furihata inhaled sharply and opened the door. If this knock continued, his parents might hear it and when they saw Akashi, they must had freaked out with his ears and tail.
However, even with that he had opened the door already, Furihata still found no word to say. Akashi who was standing in front of him looked up and broke the silent.
"Hi"
"Umm...Hi" Furohata jerked awaked from his thought and stepped aside. "Um...wann come in?"
"Thanks"
Akashi nodded and walked in. Furihata closed the door and they stood in silent.
"Umm.." This time Furihata tried to break the silent. "..so, how come you're ...here?"
"You didn't seem surprised to see me liked this." Akashi spoke, didn't answer his question. "So, I guess you already know about Tetsu's ondition."
"Yes" Furihata gulped. "Why..."
"I can't find my teammate." Akashi said. It's not a lie; he couldn't find any of his teammates now in this house. "We're having the practice camp near the city. I was turned, so my teammate and I went to the shopping mall to find some clothes that I can wear. But...I can't find my teammate."
"Then...why...are you here?"
"I have nowhere to go." Akashi said, which was true because tonight he had no intention to go anywhere else. "I can't contact my teammates. Tetsu said your house is the closest to the shopping mall."
The camp was in the area around the mountain which meant that the signal would be very bad. But the phone signals that come with the line from underground were normal. So everyone decided to turn off their phone and would use it when they're out of the mountain area. Akashi wasn't lying that he couldn't contact his teammate. Reio and Hayama had been back at the camp, they had sent him a message before turned off their phone. And at this time, most of his teammates along with the hotel's employees would have gone to bed. The hotel office would be empty while the lobby would be left with one or two sleepy receptionist who wouldn't bother to pick the phone up in case it rang.
So Akashi had Reio dropped him near Furihata's house. When his teammates were gone, Akashi started walking around to explore the area until he was back at the shopping mall. He contacted Tetsu, told him that he was at the shopping mall and couldn't contact his teammates. After that he asked which of his ex-teammate's friend's house was nearest to the shopping mall (which he had done a research before that it's Furihata's house). And when Tetsu answered, he said thanked you before telling his ex-teammate that he's going to stay at Furihata's house tonight.
"So...what are you going to do next?"
Furihata asked.
"I guess I have to ask you to stay a night here. In the morning I will try contact them again." Akashi said, pretended to look reluctantly. "May I stay? Please?"
Furihata guilped. His nature was a kind person, too kind sometimes. And a person liked him wouldn't turn anyone away if they're asking for the help he could give.
However, Furihata didn't aware of a small smirk on Akashi's lips.
"Umm..yes" Furihata scratched his head. "Um..do you want anything? I was going to go to bed when you knocked. Are you hungry?"
"No" Akashi shook his head. "I have already eaten at the mall."
"Ok, well, I will set up my spare mattress. Um...make yourself at home." Furihata locked the front door and gestured to the stair. Akashi went up first while Furihata turned off the lights and walked up.
'...guess this is going to be a long night'
Furihata thought desperately while dragging himself up stair, felt more liked Akashi was the owner of the house more than himself instead.
Next Day
Shutoku High
"Are everybody here yet?"
Otsubo asked, looking around. Miyaji had arrived with Kimura. Takao and Midorima showed up next while the other turned up one by one. After a few discussion and names checking, they're ready to go.
"This camp is near the mountain area where the mobile signal is bad." The coach said while they're on the bus. "So, if you have to make a call there, you have to use the hotel's phone. If you have anyone to call or send them messages, do it now."
After that they sat in silent. Most of the students were sleeping while Midorima kept himself to his book. Beside him, Takao was humming quietly to himself the famous songs on the radio and lost himself in a basketball magazine. He kept poking and asking Midorima if he needed anything though, but Midorima just shook his head. In the end, Takao ended up snoring while Midorima sighed and yawned. Maybe some nap wouldn't hurt.
They arrived at the hotel near lunch time. The hotel was beautiful, very beautiful for the place that had been opened for 50 years.
They loaded their stuffs down and checked in before going to their room. Only Midorima and Miyaji had nothing to carry because they're too small for any bags, so the person who had to carry their bags was Takao. At first Kimura offered to take Miyaji's bag but Miyaji just shook his head and said that this was one of his punishments for Takao. He still had a lot of things to make Takao do for creating this mess.
Midorima said nothing, but a smile tucking on his lips told that he totally agreed with Miyaji.
After their normal routine of checking in and got their things in place. They gathered to the cafeteria. Otsubo announced that they would have lunch first before going to their first practice. However, surprise had been waiting for them at the cafeteria.
"Ok...we're...here"
Otsubo opened the door and walked in before he stopped in mid-step.
The cafeteria had been half occupied by teenagers. And the first person Otsubo recognized was the tall slender boy with a girly face.
Mibuchi Reio
And that's when the Shoutoku players had realzed that they were having a practiced camp at the same place as Rakuzan.
'Oh Shit!'
That's what screaming in Miyaji's mind.
"Miyaji-san!"
Then Miyaji heard Hayama shouted from somewhere in the crowd.
'This is super fucking SHIT!'
And as Miyaji heard someone running to him. He immediately ran to hind behind Kimura. However, Hayama was beyond his worst prediction. The other just walked passed Kimura and threw himself at Miyaji.
"I miss you!"
"Get off me you jerk!"
Miyaji who was crushed with such an awkward embrace yelled at the top of his voice while his hands tried to push Hayama away. Hayama didn't seem to care the struggling Miyaji while he nuzzled the other's head.
"I miss you so much!"
"LET ME GO!"
After minutes of struggling and affords from other players from both Rakuzan and Shuutoku, finally Hayama was teared off Miyaji.
"I apologize for Hayama's behavior. Sei-chan is not here today, so he's a little too excited." Mibuchi apologized to Otsubo and Shuutoku's coach while Hayama and along with other guys were sent back to the gym. "I promise that it'll never happen again."
"Good" Otsubo nodded. After that Mibuchi and the rest of Rakuzan players when back to the gym while their coach went to discuss their schedules with the Shutoku's coach. Both Nakatani and Shirogane wanted their teams to have a match between each others along with not wanting to share their other practices. So after 15 minutes of discussion, they ended up with the arrangement that Rakuzan would occupy the gym in the morning until before lunch and Shutoku would occupy the gym in the afternoon. But two hours before dinner, they would meet and have a match or do some practice together.
While the coaches discussing, the Shutoku players had lunch. Takao kept talking liked usual while Miyaji muttering something about driving a truck over Hayama. He's still embarrassed from the incident before. Now both his team and the Rakuzan would have some joke to tell for a long time, damn you Hayama!
After they had finished lunch. Nakatani announced their routine for today. After 1 hour rest they would move to the gym while the Rakuzan would be out, running around and did their practices in the park near the hotel.
Miyaji and Midoria couldn't do most of the practice in their present body. So the coach told them to run around the gym 10 times with any speed they wanted. After that he sent them to watch matches between other schools from DVDs the coach had brought with him.
An hour before dinner, there were 3 matches between the two teams. Rakuzan won two out of three. After that they spread up to take showed and went to the canteen.
Mibuchi did as he had promised; he kept Hayama away from Miyaji. Everything was normal, no awkward shouting and jumping. Akashi hadn't come back to the camp. Mibuchi had said that he and his father had business to do. And since Akashi couldn't do much in this training anyway, so he choose to go with his father.
There was no incident happened, everyone went on their routine peacefully, until day 3th of their practice camp.
"A run up the mountain?"
Takao exclaimed after their coach had announced that today they wouldn't have a match with Rakuzan, but they would be out to the mountain nearby.
"Not exactly the run, you can walk if you want." Nakatani said. "Actually, it's more likes a run with hide and seek game."
"Hide and seek?"
"Some of the Rakuzan players will play with us." Nakatani said. "Your job is to run up and down the mountain 10 times and tried not to let the Rakuzan players spotted you. They will run up and down the mountain 10 times like us but from the other way. The paths we use have crossed with their path 5 times. If they spotted you, you have to give them your jersey and we'll count at the end that who have more jerseys. If the Rakuzans have our jerseys more than which are with you, they will get to use the bathroom first. Miyaji and Midorima will count how many times you have run and when have your jersey gone. Am I clear?"
"Yes sir"
After that they went to the mountain. Everybody wanted to win. Of cause they had used the bathroom with the Rakuzan players for 3 days with no problem. But getting to use the bathroom first would guarantee that they would definitely have hot water.
Midorima and Miyaji registered themselves on the rocks near the start. The coach was with them.
"Wish me luck Shin-chan!"
Takao gave Midorima his biggest smile, but he was completely ignored.
"Die"
Midorima just said and turned away. Miyaji chuckled while Takao went on muttering and whining about black heart Midorima in a micking voice until Midorima threw a rock at him.
The Shutoku team started off, jogging up and down the mountain. Every time they came to where the paths crossed, they would slow down to make sure that they wouldn't run into the Rakuzan.
Back to the hotel, at the gym, half of the Rakuzan players were doing their normal practices.
"Hey Reio-nee"
"What is it Hayama?"
"Where do you think Miyaji-san be? I haven't seen him today."
"Oh!" Mibuchi nodded. "He probably goes out with his team to the mountain."
"But isn't it dangerous?" Hayama said. "Yesterday while I went out to grab some snacks from the stores, I heard some rumors about smugglers and gangsters. They spoke that there're smugglers and gangsters coming here."
"I've heard it too." Nebuya joined in. "Yesterday I heard the people at the café speaking about some gangsters threatened their neighbors. Those junks are trying to settle in and build their own group, they said."
Mibuchi stopped to think. He crooked his head to the side before straightened up.
"If what you two say are true, I think we better inform Sei-chan and the coach. I'll go phone them using the hotel's phone. You two keep others continue practicing."
Midorima's bored. He had nothing much to do, not being a talkative type made him had no idea how to start a conversation with the blond beside him. However, his boredom was ended with Otsubo running down the mountain with alarmed face.
"Two 1st years hurt their legs." Otsubo said. "They didn't pay attention to the path while looking for the Rakuzan and stumbled on rocks."
"You two stay here."
Nakatani said to Miyaji and Midorima before he went up the mountain after Otsubo.
Silent fell between them again before Miyaji spoke.
"I'm bored."
The shooter turned to his senior while Miyaji put his knees to his chest. They both wore shirts with hoods to hide their ears. However, they both still didn't feel comfortable much to being in the opening, even that there were only them here. The villages were 10 minutes walked from the mountain and the hotel was 15 minutes walked from where they were.
"I found nothing's interesting here either."
Midorima nodded and turned to the mountain. Suddenly, they heard someone spoke in drunken voice.
"...I think you're leading us to where the cargo is not to the fucking park..."
"Shut up!...You'll bring attention to us!"
"Ya idiot. Do ya see anyone here?"
"What?"
Both Miyaji and Midorima shot up from where they're sitting when their sensitive ears picked up voices from distance that ordinary wouldn't hear. The two looked at each other before they both ran to hide behind trees.
"You see? It's no one here!"
"I heard those people say there're students camping, practicing some fucking think in the mountain."
"That's not our business."
"And If they see us?"
"We kill them."
"But if it's girls we should use 'em before we kill 'em."
"Pretty boys go the same."
"Children are good to fuck if they're pretty enough."
At this rate, Midorima and Miyaji felt liked running right now. They heard the voice but they still didn't see those persons.
"We must warn them."
Miyaji whispered. They both ran up the path a bit and hid behind a tree to see how many were coming.
Minutes later, 7 smugglers emerged to their sight. From the same crab tattoos on their arms, Midorima and Miyaji assumed that they must came from the same group or Yakuza family.
Both Midorima and Miyaji didn't wait to listen what they may say next, they both ran up the path to their team.
Back to the hotel
Reio walked in the gym with a worried face. He went to where Hayama and Nebuya were playing one-on-one with each other.
"What is it?"
Hayama asked, lowered the ball in his hand down while Nebuya frowned.
"You're right." Mibuchi said. "I phoned Sei-chan about the gangsters you've mentioned and he phoned to his father's friend. There's a Yakuza family which their leader and some of their members had been captured two weeks ago for committing crimes and murders. Some of the members were able to escape before the police came. That friend of Sei-chan's father informed that those who have escaped may try to build their new gang. Their symbol is a crab. They all have crab tattoos on their arms."
"Have you told the coach?"
Nebuya asked. Mibuchi nodded.
"Yes, I have phoned him. Shirogane-san told me that he would get both our team and the Shutoku team back immediately."
Even that there was nothing happened because of those gangsters yet, it's still dangerous to be in that isolate mountain park.
"I wish nothing bad happens." Hayama grunted. "Talking about that gangsters with crab tattoos, I quit remember our captain talking about them with my father."
"Your father?"
Both Nebuya and Mibuchi exclaimed in surprised.
"Guess I've never told you guys then." Hayama scratched his head. "My father is a cop, an inspector to be exacted. My father once had a case to solve about cheating in stock business. He was threatened by those crab tattoo yakuzas for his life if he continued. However, he finished the case that ended with some of that yakuzas went to jail. They attempted to assassinate him once but Akashi's father, my father's childhood friend, saved him."
"The Akashi, as you all know, once a Zaibatsu family, now a very strong and influential company. Just one warning to that gang and their leader ordered all of his lapdogs not to cross paths with my father again." Hayama continued. "It was two months ago that Akashi met my father by accidents. My father and I were jogging to the store near our house when we met him. Akashi asked if those gangsters still disturbed him, so I knew the story behind it."
Mibuchi and Nebuya both silent after Hayama had finished the story.
"I've never known."
Mibuchi finally said. Nebuya nodded in agreement.
"I'm very worried for them, especially the Shutoku shooters and Miyaji-san." Hayama said. "Those crab tattoo yakuzas were known of drugs and abducting girls and children to sell in the black market as sex slaves. My father had warned me about them and a lot of their 'clients'."
TBC.
Ps. Zaibatsu in English is plutocracy.
In Jump magazine, Midorima had said that Akashi's father is a zaibatsu, but in the comic it changes to meika [a family that had a long history]. But I prefer to use zaibatsu than meika, to make the Akashi's history looks more serious, intimidated and mysterious. The zaibatsu is now gone, or changed to what's called 'Keiretsu'.
[Keiretsu is is a set of companies with interlocking business relationships and shareholdings. It is a type of informal business group. The keiretsu maintained dominance over the Japanese economy for the last half of the 20th century. /From Wikipedia]
However, some articles have said that zaibatsu is slowly coming back but very less strong than before WWII. So, in this fanfiction I will settle down with now the Akashi's a very rich, strong and influential family.
