Chapter 14
They continued their search for Orochimaru but now acting completely different then they had the few days before. Both were a lot happier and open. That night, Sakura decided that it was time to tell Sasuke the truth. Again, they were sitting by the fire when she spoke.
"Sasuke, I need to tell you something"
"Hm? What's wrong Sakura?" He was glad that they were on first name basis again.
"I want to tell you the truth" He looked shocked but then a gentle smile appeared (O.O)
"I see. I'm ready"
"Ok so it all began on that day..."
"The day after you left, I was broken. My heart was in shatters." Sasuke looked guilty.
"I didn't eat and didn't sleep, just cried. I soon released that I needed to become stronger in order to stop becoming a burden to people and to stop myself from getting hurt again. The year after I discovered something that changed my life."
"What?"
"Your brother had killed my family." Sasuke's mouth widened.
"Wha-"
"Let me continue. I soon went on mission on a weekly basis to search for him and to kill him. I was overcome with anger and I felt the need to wipe him off the face of the planet. But I forgot that you were also going after him. I still cared for you then. You were always on my mind. I often dreamt about you and about the miniature times we hard together" Sasuke's mind went back to the time where he had witnessed one of her dreams.
"I went to your mansion daily to keep the place tidy..." At this, Sakura blushed. Sasuke finally got it. She was the one who had been cleaning his home.
"How did you get in?"
"You had let a window unlocked."
"Oh"
"But then one day, I heard that you had killed Itachi. I was so angry that I nearly destroyed the whole forest. You had taken the one thing that I had worked for. From that day I hated you."
"I see, that explains why you hated me and the name Uchiha"
"Yeah."
"Who's Kenji" he said the name with a little bit a jealous clear in his voice.
"What you jealous?"
"What if I am?"
"Ha-ha...don't worry, Kenji isn't around anymore..."
"Where is he?" sakura pointed up to the sky.
"He's up there..."
"Oh I'm sorry... you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Sakura started laughing. Sasuke looked at her weirdly.
"What's the matter?"
"Sorry...it's just that this was exactly how I told Kenji about you. Fire, night sky, camping. Well Kenji was a ninja from the country of Rain. He had transferred to Konoha and we became close. He was my second love." Sasuke's eyes narrowed and he knew that it wasn't right to think this way but he secretly was slightly glad that he wasn't in her life anymore. But his heart rejoiced when she said SECOND love. He felt pride that he was her first.
"What happened?" He saw Sakura's lower lip tremble. His hands touched hers.
"Sorry... I might cry but whatever."
"He was killed in a mission, protecting me." Sakura's face grew one filled with hate and anger.
"Orochimaru killed him. He killed him to provoke me. I will never forgive him" Her voice cracked and once again tears lined her face. Sasuke pulled her head into his shoulder and embraced her.
"We will destroy Orochimaru, I promise you" Sakura looked up at Sasuke and smiled.
"Thank you" Sakura jumped into the trees with Sasuke following her. She was about to settle down until arms wrapped around her and pulled her down. She looked behind her and found she was in Sasuke's lap and her head was resting on his shoulder. She blushed but didn't make any movement. She just relaxed into his embrace and they fell asleep still in the embrace.
*The next day
Sasuke stirred and as he breathed in the scent of cherry blossoms. He looked down and saw pink. He smiled and slowly opened his eyes. He suddenly felt weight on his head. He's eyes slowly looked up and he saw white. A bird was using his head as a nest. He panicked and let go of the sleeping body in his arms and tried to get the bird off him. But Sakura was leaning on Sasuke and therefore she lost balance and fell out of the tree. But she was a ninja and one must be alert at all times, so her eyes snapped open and right before she hit the ground she did a flip and landed on her feet. She looked into the tree and yelled
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING UCHIHA?!" Sasuke had finally gotten the bird to leave.
"I was..um... getting..."
"IF I WASN'T ALERT which probably is never I COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT"
"There...was a bird...in my hair"
"YOU DROPPED ME BECAUSE THERE WAS A SUTPID BIRD IN YOUR HAIR?!"
"yes?..."
"Hmmf" Sakura scoffed and walked away to pack their things. Sasuke jumped down after her.
"Sakura" she didn't pay any attention.
"Stop acting like a kid" she still didn't say anything.
"Don't make me to this.." Sasuke's eyes lowered and Sakura peeked at him and she found he had lunged over her.
"AH!" A scream could be heard form a mile away.
"STOP IT PLEASE! I WAS CHILDISH!PLEASE JUST STOP IT!" Sasuke had an evil smile on his grinned and he continued.
"I never knew you were this ticklish Sa-ku-ra chan" Tears leaked from her eyes as a smile appeared on her face.
"PLEASE! STOP IT!" She tried to get his hands off her but he tickled harder and she burst out laughing. Sasuke's smirk remained on his face.
"SASUKE! STOP! I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY JUST STOP!" Since he was tickling her from behind, she managed to get a hold of him and flip him over. Surprised at this, Sasuke landed on his back and turned around to find Sakura breathless on the ground. He suddenly blushed when he saw that her shirt had fallen down a bit and it showed her smooth skin. Sakura slowly sat back up and blushed at him blushing. They both turned around as Sakura fixed herself up. Sakura sneaked a peek at Sasuke and saw leaves stuck on to his shirt. She reached out to brush it away. As her hand made contact to his shirt, he jumped a little and turned around.
"What are you doing?" the blush still on his face.
"You have some stuff on your back" sakura looked down as she brushed his back. Suddenly they both sensed chakra and stood up back to back, alert.
"Sakura"
"I know they smell like blood" A couple of ninjas came out and surrounded them.
"Who are you?" shouted Sakura. The person who was thought to be the leader took of their mask and it was a man who had dirty blonde hair and striking red eyes. Sakura's eyes widened.
"I know you!" Sakura said
The man's eyes sparkled and he knelt before Sakura.
"Sakura my love, I am so honoured that you still remember me. I guess I really am too charming to forget. "Sasuke's eyes narrowed.
"Stay away from her." The man growled and got up.
"Uchiha...Sasuke"
"Weren't you my fan boy a couple of years ago? I remember you got me something..." Sakura said. The man's eyes sparkled.
"Yes!"
"Wait...what was your name.. Biorki? No that wasn't it... Kikorkoi? Definitely not..."
"It's Hiroki..."
"Forki? Porki?"
"I said it's Hiroki"
"I've got it! Dorokutoki!"
"IT'S HIROKI!" Sakura glared at him.
"No need to yell ok?" Sasuke stood in front of Sakura.
"What is your business here?" But then Sasuke paused and looked at the man again.
"Wait a minute... I've seen you with Orochimaru before... you were the cleaner..." Hiroki glared at him.
"Uchiha Sasuke, the star, the prodigy. It was always about you. Uchiha Sasuke is the best vessel I will ever obtain. Ohh Sasuke-kun is the love of my life. He's so strong... It's always about you. You stole Sakura's love and Orochimaru's favour. I left the year after you left. I was in search for power that could sway my dearest Sakura." Sakura felt shivers up her spine.
"But I discovered that you ended up as the next vessel whereas I ended up as the cleaner. The humiliation was too much to bear so I swore revenge against you for taking everything in my life." Sasuke straightened up.
"So you're here to kill me?"
"No Orochimaru ordered me to bring you back alive" but then clamped his mouth. Sasuke's eyes widened.
"Orochimaru...he's dead...I KILLED HIM!" His hand shook with disbelief. Sakura crossed her arms and shook her head.
"What did I tell you?"
"I said too much. Well at least you no longer have Sakura's heart. You lost it the day you left which means her heart is free for the taking." Hiroki lunged forward and attempted to grab Sakura but Sasuke pushed him back.
"I will say this again. Stay away from her" Hiroki scoffed. Sakura was staring blankly at the two.
"She's is free from your grasp. She hates you. She will come to like me better right Sakura? Come here. I will treat you well" sakura sighed.
"Why am I being fought over by two people? I belong to myself and no one can treat me better than myself. But however Hiroki, you're partially correct. I did hate him. I hated his guts to the ends of the earth." Hiroki started laughing and mocking Sasuke but stopped when he processed what she said.
"Did?"
"Yeh, I don't anymore. He has changed and so have I. I love him." Sasuke smirked in triumph. Hiroki backed away.
"You're lying... I endured so much for you...how can you say that? I bet you're under a jutsu...Uchiha release my maiden."
"I'm not under anything."
"Prove it"
"Ok" Sakura pulled Sasuke towards her and captured his lips with hers. Sasuke stiffened for a while because of the shock but then relaxed in her kiss. They broke apart only to see Hiroki on his knees.
"Hiroki, I will never be yours. Sorry." Hiroki looked up and his eyes were murderous.
"Uchiha... you will regret taking my maiden. I will kill you..." and he jumped towards Sasuke and when he was about to stab a kunai into him, Sakura appeared from behind and knocked him out. Sasuke looked uninterested.
"That was unnecessary." Sakura smirked.
"I know but now you can take the rest of them" Sakura sat by a tree and sat back while watching Sasuke finish the rest of the ninja's.
*After they were all beat up and they all ran away carrying their leader
"That was a good warm up." Sasuke stretched and Sakura scoffed.
"Hardly a warm up" Sasuke then suddenly kissed her full on the lips without warning. Sakura's face turned red and pushed him back.
"W-what do you think you're doing?!" Sasuke smirked and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Returning the gift" Sakura blushed and looked away. Sasuke's smirk faded and sat down.
"That guy said Orochimaru was still alive... how can that be?" Sakura looked back at him, blush gone and eyes filled with seriousness.
"I don't know but I knew that the blanket was definitely his doing. We have no leads.."
"How long have you been with that guy?"
"Huh?! He showed up at my doorstep with presents every day. Why?"
"So you know his scent well."
"I guess so."
"He normally hung around Orochimaru a lot. We just need to track down his scent and that should lead to Orochimaru." Sakura smirked.
"Not bad Uchiha, not bad at all." Sasuke smirked with her and kissed her hand.
"I try my lady" Sakura took her hand back, her cheeks tinged a little.
"Stop it" Then they looked into the deep forest.
"Let's get him Sakura"
"Aa" and with that they set off into the dark forest.
