Katherine passed her hand through her curls one more time then looked down at her wide blue dress which was showcasing the curves of her body. She needed to be perfect.
Hanna, Katherine's maid knocked at the door before to walk in, holding few towels in her arms. She smiled kindly at Katherine. "You're doing yourself pretty for Sir Elijah?"
Katherine smiled in the inside when she heard his name. "Yes. He returns from his two weeks trip today. I missed him and I want him to know that." She winked at Hanna.
Hanna giggled and put the towels next to the bath. "Let me help you with your hair." She came behind her and started to braid three braids of Katherine's hair.
Katherine's nails were impatiently taping against the table. He has sent her a text saying that he was supposed to come back today and Katherine was anxious about his return. In part because of the advancing of the research in Mystic Fall but also because of the way they had left.
The sound of the key in the lock made Katherine straddle. He was here. She straightened herself and tried smile in the most normal way possible as Elijah walked in.
Elijah quickly ran the room with his eyes, looking for Katherine. He smiled sincerely at her which actually only made the situation more awkward then it already was.
"Hey!" Was the only thing she found to say. She slid her hands in the back pocket of her jeans.
Elijah raised his eyebrow and nodded. At least now it was say, the situation was definitely awkward and none of them knew how to start the conversation. "Hello." He simply answered, looking down at his suitcase, looking for a way to escape to this situation. "I'm going to take them to my room." He grabbed his suitcase and passed next to Katherine with an awkward smile before to disappear in the hallway.
Once Elijah was out of her sight, Katherine hit her forehead with the palm of her hand. Hey! She could have say anything but that! She swallowed once and decided to go back to talk to him.
Elijah lifted his head as he heard Katherine knocked at his door before to walk in. She looked more confident than earlier.
Katherine walked to his bed and sat on it, next to his suitcase. "So, what is the news in Mystic Falls?"
Elijah stayed up and put his empty suitcase on the floor. "There is a map which leads to the cure. This map is on a hunter's tattoo which grows up every time a hunter kills a vampire."
"So Jeremy has to kill vampires so he could lead us to the cure?" Katherine asked, frowning. She already knew it was a problem.
"Yes. They apparently had a hunter before but Elena killed him." Elijah answered put his fist on each side of his waist.
"Oh! Our sweet little Elena has finally killed someone!" Katherine smirked, imaging how Elena must have hard time handling that.
"Yes, and she tried to kill herself because of the hunter curse."
Katherine widened her eyes. "What the hell is that?" Katherine has imagined Elena crying or having a break down but definitely not kill herself.
"When you kill a hunter, there are so consequences. Including this curse. Your start to hallucinate and the final point of this is your death." Elijah sat next to her on the bed.
Katherine nodded. "I take that in note. Never kill a hunter." She smiled softly. "So what do we do now? Klaus and the Mystic Fall's band are already taking care of everything."
Elijah shrugged. "I don't know. I guess we just have to wait."
Katherine nodded, knowing that if she doesn't leave the room now, things were going to become awkward like earlier. She suddenly got up and crossed her arms on her waist. "Ok! I'll be in downstairs if you look for me!" She smiled before to walk toward the door.
"Katerina, wait!" Elijah called her, getting up and grabbed her wrist to make her turn her faced him. "I want to talk about the way we left."
Katherine's breath started to become heavy as she looked down.
"I've spend the last two weeks thinking about it. And I don't know what it means to you. So could you please tell me…" Elijah stopped as he heard Katherine's breath. "Are you ok?"
Katherine nodded again, suddenly sputtering. "Yeah, I just don't wanna talk about that, now."
Elijah rolled his eyes up. "Fine, you don't want to talk. We won't talk." He pulled her wrist to bring her closer to him before to slide his hands on her cheeks and kissed her.
Katherine stayed still, not pushing him away but not kissing him back neither, she just shut her eyes.
After few second Elijah finally pulled her away, he tightened his lips as he saw Katherine was speechless. "You still don't want to talk? Ok, I'll talk. For the last two weeks I've been imagining every possible reasons and explication for a simple question: Why did you kiss me? I've even thought that you may have done it on purpose!" Elijah sighed deeply and continued more quietly, sliding his hands back on her cheeks. "And if I kissed you now it's because I've missed you. I've missed your lips for the last five centuries." His thumb slowly passed on her lips in a sweet caress. "I've missed how it feels to have you in my arms." His hand slid on her hips to her low back, resting longer than needed on her waist. His lips came back and her in a soft kiss.
Katherine finally kissed him back gently before to whisper, looking down. "Elijah we can't do that."
Elijah couldn't help his smile as she kissed him back, but his smile quickly disappear as he heard her words. "And why not?"
"Because I've think about it during the last two weeks and we can't do that not now. Nothing is sure yet. We don't know if we will be able to get that damn cure, we don't know if Klaus will agree to make the deal. We just don't know." She sighed deeply, before to lift up her head and looking into his eyes. "If Klaus isn't agreed I'll have to keep running and I don't want to pull you with me in that." She swallowed thinking about what worse could happen if Klaus doesn't want to give her freedom.
Elijah blinked many times, like he couldn't believe what he just heard. He pulled Katherine in a tight hug, his chin resting on her head. "If my brother isn't agreed then we will do something else. My family and I have already ruined five hundred years of your life and I refuse that it continues." He closed his eyes, thinking about the hell Katherine must have been trough. He slowly caressed her hair as Katherine allowed herself to hug him back. "I know that you are a strong woman who can handle everything herself but I'll take care of you…" He let a sweet kiss on her forehead. "…my Katerina."
Katherine smiled fondly, lifting her head, before to slide her hand in his hair to bring his lips against hers. She brushed her lips against his, enjoying the moment as her other hand was resting on his hard chest. "Thank you, Lijah"
Elijah couldn't' help himself to smile even more as he heard his nickname. "Close your eyes." He laid his hands on her temples, provoking a flashback.
Elijah's coach stopped in the front yard, he opened the door and put a feet down, he was glad that it was finally the end of this tiring trip, he stretched out as he heard a scream of happiness coming from the entrance of the manor.
Katherine ran toward Elijah, holding her dress in her hands so she could run more easily. She grabbed Elijah by the neck, smiling and brought his face to hers, joining their lips.
Elijah kissed her back surprised; he slid his hand on her sweet cheek. "Katerina, people are looking at us." He said, looking at the curious people who had stopped their actions to stare at them.
Katherine giggled and held his waist tightly. "I don't care, I've missed you."
Elijah smiled fondly, hugging her back. "Then come on, let's go inside so you can show me how much you missed me." He answered winking, before to take her hand and pull her toward the door of the manor. "By the way, did I tell you how gorgeous you are today?"
Katherine was smiling widely when the flashback stopped. "I've spend three hours preparing myself for your return this day."
Elijah chuckled. "Well, it had worth it, you were gorgeous." Elijah suddenly buried his hands in his trousers' pockets and showed up a silver bracelet with Lapis-lazuli and handed it to Katherine. "I thought you may have envy to change after all these years wearing the same."
Katherine took the bracelet in her hands, smiling heavenly. "Thank you." She put up the bracelet around her right wrist, before to undo her daylight necklace and handed it to Elijah. "Since I don't have any gift for you, I'm just going to give you this as a reminder of me." She giggled playfully.
Elijah sniggered and took her necklace. "Thank you; I'll do something with that. I don't know what yet, but I'll." He slid the necklace in his pocket.
"I'm waiting to see what it'll be!" She passed her hand on his chest as they were both looking at her new bracelet. She came closer to him and sweetly locked their lips together.
