Jamie shifts his weight awkwardly. He can feel the eyes on him as he waits outside the commissioner's office. He turns his head and watches as everyone's heads quickly turn away from him. He laughs silently, wondering how cops trained in surveillance can be so obvious. Looking back to the closed door in front of him, he knows what they are thinking, knows how much he looks like Joe. They probably wonder if Frank had some kind of affair and I'm the illegitimate child... they obviously are as bad at judging the character of their commissioner as they are at being subtle. A moment later, the door opens and a blonde woman exits, motioning for him to continue into the room. Jamie nods to her and silently enters the office.

Frank smiles as he see's the young man enter, "Jamie, I'm glad you could make it. I know it's your first day off and I'm sure you didn't want to spend it in the commissioner's office."

Jamie smiled, "It's alright Sir, I didn't have any plans today."

Frank nodded, "Good, that's good. Well, there are a few things we need to discuss. Technically, your missing person's case is still open. I would like to let you know how this will proceed. I won't be handling the case, but we will begin an investigation into your kidnapping and if you agree, it would be very helpful if you volunteered any information you can remember. I know it may be hard but we will need to investigate your adoptive parents." Jamie looked down, unsure how to reply and worried about what the investigation would bring to light. Frank noticed Jamie's hesitance and moved from behind his desk, leading Jamie to the couch.

Frank sat down next to Jamie, his hand on the younger man's shoulder, "Jamie, I understand that you kept a lot from us after dinner on Sunday. And that is perfectly alright, you don't need to tell us anything before you want to. However, this investigation will unearth many things and it might not come out in ways that are healthy for you emotionally."

Frank took a deep breath, "I can arrange it so the detective has no connection to any of us but the case will eventually land on my desk, there is nothing I can do to stop that. I want to make this as easy for you as possible so, if you wish, you can tell me what will come up in the investigation. It doesn't have to be right now, but I think you would rather tell me yourself, then to have me read it in a file."

Jamie nodded, "If it's alright with you, I'd like Danny to investigate. Umm... if that's possible."

Frank blinked in surprise, "I will see what I can do."

Jamie nodded, "Thank you Sir."

Frank smiled, "I'm just Frank right now."

Jamie nodded, "Thank you Frank."

Frank let out a small laugh, "That's all I needed to talk to you about. I know you don't have any plans today, but I know Erin would be glad of the excuse to take a lunch break."

Jamie smiled, "I might stop by to see her then." Jamie stood up, extending his hand to Frank who shook it.

Frank's voice stopped Jamie just as he was about to leave, "Are you sure about this?"

Jamie turned to look at Frank, noting the concern in the commissioner's eyes, "Frank, I don't think I could handle any one else finding out what happened." Frank nodded in understanding and stood, watching as his son walked through the door and he wondered what the investigation would uncover in the shadowed past Jamie hid behind his mask of smiles and laughter.

Erin started at the sudden knock on her door. Confused she called out, "Come in." To say she was surprised when Jamie opened the door was an understatement, she could practically feel the floor with her jaw. Erin shook herself out of her stupor, "Jamie, what brings you here?"

Jamie smiled at her reaction, "I was just in a meeting with Frank and figured you might not have had lunch yet, figured you wouldn't mind some company."

Erin grinned widely, "That would be wonderful! I was actually about to go get lunch. Now I have a reason to go to a restaurant and get something somewhat healthy instead of hitting up the hotdog stand outside."

Jamie smiled, "Glad I could help out, although I'm pretty sure the secretary I asked where to find you thinks I'm a lunch date."

Erin laughed, "The secretaries here like any gossip they can get their hands on, I'm sure by the time I get back from lunch you will be a CIA agent trying to leave the company so you can take care of me and our unborn child."

Jamie scrunched his nose, "No offense but you aren't exactly my type."

Erin laughed, "I should hope not, the brother sister thing kind of ruins it."

Jamie smiled, "So, I know this great little diner a block away, how does that sound?"

Erin moaned, "Oh, I could go for a burger and fries."

Jamie smiled, "Don't forget to get a salad, need to be a little healthy."

Erin laughed, "Of course, can't forget that." Erin took Jamie by the arm and the two made the short walk to the diner. Erin looked surprised as the entered it, "How is it that I work a block away from here and have never even noticed this place before."

Jamie shrugged, "It's a bit low-key. I only found it because a friend of mine used to work here. They have the best burger in the city though."

Erin looked skeptical, "I'll be the judge of that, but I warn you, I've had some pretty good burgers in this city."

Jamie laughed, making casual conversation as they ordered and waited for their food. By the time they had finished, Erin felt like they had been talking for hours and she was glad for the small glimpses Jamie had allowed her into his life. They had only been a few embarrassing childhood stories, but Erin felt like he had told her the most amazing secrets she had ever heard. She liked that he was opening up with her, even if it was only about how he tripped over the hurdles in gym class when he was fourteen. When Erin was finally back in her office, looking over cases, she was still smiling think about finally being able to get to know her baby brother and she wouldn't trade that afternoon for all the secrets locked up in that head of his.
