Danny stared down at the file in his lap, wondering how it had come across his desk. That question in mind, Danny stood and made his way to Gormley's office. "So what's up with this case? How did we get it?"

Gormley looked up at his detective, "I know missing person's isn't usually your thing but from what I heard the vic talked to the Commish and requested you personally. Makes sense, it's one of the most convoluted cases I've ever seen and you are one of our best detectives. " Gormely paused a moment, "Strange though, vics last name is never mentioned and it definitely aint a minor, that case spans almost twenty years."

Danny felt his eyes widen in shock at the revelation that Jamie had asked for him to look into his case. He held back a smile at the obvious show of trust, instead taking a moment to joke his superior, "That's some mighty fine detective skills, maybe next you can figure out why the coffee always tastes like crap." Gormley shot him a look which gave of a distinct, I-am-not-amused vibe that had Danny chuckling as he returned to his desk, plopping the file down on his partners.

Jackie looked up in surprise, "New case?"

Danny shrugged, "Sorta. You know that brother I was telling you about?"

Jackie nodded, "Oh... OH! You mean..." Jackie was suddenly sitting straight up, motioning to the file as her sentence faded off.

Danny nodded, "Guess the kid wanted to keep it in house."

Jackie let out a low whistle, "That's some real trust this kid has for you. He actually wants you to know everything?" Jackie paused a moment, "You do realize this mean we have to interview him right? We need to hear how things happened for him, every thing he knows, his earliest memories, his parents. Are you sure you are ready to hear all that? From what you told me the other day, it could be some pretty bad stuff."

Danny allowed himself to sink back into his chair with a long sigh, "I don't know Jackie, but if he wants me to do this, how can I say no? He my baby brother, one I haven't seen since he practically was a baby. I can't just tell him I can't do this for him because I'm scared to see what it brings up. He lived through it, the least I can do is help him deal with all that comes after."

Jackie smiled, "Well look at you, being all big brother Reagan."

Danny huffed, "You do realize I'm older than Erin and Joe right?"

Jackie waved her hand dismissively, "Eh, but you are to close in age to them for it to be cute, not that you even act that way with them. Seriously though, according to this you are like ten years older than the kid, he really is your baby brother." Jackie smirked at her partner, enjoying the slight ribbing as well as the genuine protectiveness he seemed to be exuding from his pores.

Danny sighed, "Yeah yeah, have your fun. We need to get started on this. I'll call his TO and tell him to let Jamie know to drop by after he gets off shift so we can do that interview."

Tony looked over at his rookie partner as he hung up the phone. "Hey kid, any reason I got Danny Reagan calling me to give you a message on shift to show up for an interview?"

Jamie looked up a little shocked, "Oh, umm... old case. I was an umm... a witness."

Tony looked at the younger man in disbelief, "You are a terrible liar Harvard. There is no way you would have made it as a lawyer. What's going on kid?"

Jamie winced, "Sorry Sarge, it's just that... well, it's really complicated and I kinda found out recently that its possible my so called adoptive parents might have actually kidnapped me... so yeah."

Tony's mouth hung open for a second in shock, "Jesus kid, that's a big pill to swallow."

Jamie gave a humorless chuckle, "I know right? It really was unexpected. Kinda makes sense though, I never could figure out why they adopted me anyways."

Tony patted the rookie's shoulder comfortingly, "Still doesn't explain why I had Reagan calling me."

Jamie looked a bit sheepish, "Well, I may or may not have requested him for the case because heisactuallymyolderbrother."

Tony didn't think he could be anymore shocked but Jamie's rushed statement proved him wrong, "Well damn." Jamie nodded his head in acknowledgement. Tony paused before speaking up again, "We get off in five, you need me to drop you off? I can't wait for you to finish if you need me to?"

Jamie smiled at his TO's offer, "I'll take the ride there but you don't have to wait for me."

Tony shook his head, "Kid, I trained Joe and if you are anything like him, you are gonna want a friend there. Family can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially if you get the whole brood of Reagans thrust upon you out of nowhere." Jamie looked away a moment before nodding, "Thanks Sarge."

A/N- So sorry it took so long. I seriously had like the worst case of writers block ever followed by an explosion of ideas in my head. Unfortunately, none of those ideas seemed to want to be for this story. Anyways, here is a chapter and up next we will see the interview with Jamie. dun dun DUNAH!
