The Scientist- Coldplay

Come up to meet you
Tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Rythian walked along the desolate grassy plains, not far away from the stronghold. Ever since Zoey ran away he had been moping around the castle all day, every day. It was only when Nilesy came to demand more diamonds did he realise how fresh the air tasted. So, even if it wasn't that far away, he was still outside. His body was hunched and his head watched his feet drag behind him. It had still not completely rubbed in yet. The fact that he was alone. The fact that Tee and Zoey probably hated him. And the constant attempts of his ender side taking full control over him. The place was so echoey without them. For the first time in a while, he even felt a little… depressed.
"Come on just- keep walking, you can do that can't you?" He said to himself, trying to lighten the mood slightly.

He stopped. His head shot up and looked around. Eyes widened and ear pricked, he scanned the horizon. He was sure he'd heard her. But after minutes of listening he was left with silence.
"I'm not going mad am I?" The question stayed on his mind. Hearing things… theories ran across his head. His feet moved forward again. The slow padding of his feet, up the grass he had walked on so many times before.

"Oh look at that!" There was no mistake. He wasn't hearing things. That was defiantly her. He looked south. The sun glared over the gentile hills and two small figures. Seeing things… doubt ran straight over his head. No way was he seeing things. Zoey and Tee were there, in the distance. Before he knew what he was doing, his feet ran. Faster than he ever imagined. Zoey grew closer to him, almost touching. "Jeff would be glad we found those." She said bending down to pick a yellow flower.
"Zoey…" He breathed, stopping just metres away. She looked up and stumbled back.
"R-Rythian." Tee stood there, not completely sure what to do.

"Zoey I'm so sorry." She looked at him as if he was tainted with a deadly disease.
"What- I shouldn't be here- looking at- talking to you." She took several clumsy steps back, never once taking her eyes off him.
"No please Zoey. I miss you, I need you, I-"
"have to go. I wasn't supposed to meet you." She turned and walked away. Rythian ran after her.
"But Zoey please don't do this to me. I really do need you I just didn't realise!"

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start
Running in circles; coming up tails
Heads on a silence apart

She turned around. Rythian stopped.
"I don't care if you need me. If I don't get back, he'll kill me. Please if not for the mushrooms, do it for me and never talk to me again."
"B-but Zoey…"
"Rythian I can't trust you anymore. There's so much you keep to yourself. Take the ender thing for example, a big big thing yet you only mentioned it a couple of months after we properly got talking. What if you have something else like that hidden way?"
"I haven't." Making no sort of flinch as he spoke, Rythian continued. "Go ahead ask me anything and I will reply with the whole truth." She stepped away. Tee scurried quickly beside her and loaded his bow.
"So all this time, you haven't been telling the truth? Tee I'm confused."
"No, everyd-" She took another step back and just like that, ran away. There was nothing he could do. She was going, leaving him, and breaking his heart. Weights held his feet down even though they didn't exist. Her silhouette got smaller. And then the boy was alone again.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart
Questions of science; science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

"But I can do it." Zoey pleaded. Rythian's eyes glanced at the nuke briefly. One chance: get it wrong and everything would be destroyed; get it right and their blackrock story carries on as usual. Deep inside, Rythian knew what the answer would be.
"Are you sure Zoey? Science is dangerous…" She slammed her foot down.
"What's so dangerous about science?! Science is the technology that helps make our generation, yet you don't want a word about it."
"I just want you to be safe, that's all."
"Well I'll be fine," She turned to the force field and looked at the machinery inside "It just needs a bit of deep thought."

Rythian watched as she placed red stone related devices onto the floor around the nuke to deactivate the force field. He could sense that she knew what she was doing, yet he couldn't help feeling slightly worried. She turned to him.
"You might want to round everyone up and stay back, y'know, just in case it… y'know." Rythian nodded and walked towards the exit.
"Zoey," he said before leaving "Promise to me you'll get it right?" She laughed
"It's only science!" and he left. Her smile disappeared. "Science is a dangerous weapon… serious mode activate!" She pulled a lever and the force field disintegrated.
"Well that was easy," She said dusting her hands. "Oh yeah, there's still a nuke…" Walking over to the bomb, she looked it over and pushed a button, her eyes closed.
"Okay, okay. Not dead! Actually maybe I shouldn't have done that." She backed away, whilst walking her foot slipped and triggered a button on the floor. A beeping sound started and she instantly knew what it meant.
"help… oh help. Rythian… Rythian! The nuke, it's gonna- Why did I ever? Science is friend? Isn't it? Rythian! The nuke! I need you Rythian! I need you-"

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh I rush back to the start
Running in circles, chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

She opened her eyes. Nothing but rubble surrounded her, the rubble that used to be her life. Reaching out her hand, she tried to reach the surface, but endless amounts of rubble kept her back.
"R-Ryth" She tried to talk. Somehow her voice didn't quite reach her lips. A tear slipped out the corner of her eye and she winces as it met grazed skin. A padding of feet on ash came from a distance, a voice accompanying it.
"Zoey? Zoey please tell me you're okay… I-I love you… Zoey?" It was Rythian. She tried to clear her throat but still her voice came out as a weak mumble.
"Rythian, I'm here. Help me." The padding continued until she could just about make out the faint silhouette of a man on top of a mound of rubble. She tried to move her arm but it was stuck under all the debris along with the rest of her body apart from one side of her face. But then the silhouette disappeared along with the padding of his feet.
"Rythian. Help. Back here." No matter how hard she tried, Rythian didn't hear her and she was left alone. Blood poured from her cuts and a deep wound in her arm. "Rythian this didn't have to happen… I'm sorry… I'm so so sorry" She became weaker and weaker by the second until she drifted into unconsciousness and then finally death, her final words being: I love you.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
I'm going back to the start
