A/N: For a while already I've been designing new characters to introduce to this story and from my notes I've created OVER TWENTY characters! And no I haven't just named them or created their appearance I've been trying to decide on: personalities, protagonist, antagonist, minors, supporters, main, family ties, which sagas they'll appear the most, and plenty more.
Many of these characters won't be born or appear till halfway through the story, and yes this story will be over a hundred chapters—and no I'm not sure if it'll go over two hundred, though I think it will.
First character created and finally introduced: Crown. Enjoy!
Be warned you're entering the mind of a lovesick preteen XD
Chapter:
One Fairytale Coming True
Chi-Chi's POV
Time is said to fly before your very eyes, never stopping or slowing down. It's a race where no one will be able to stop, unless your time has come to an end. By then, you have either won or lost.
Mom claims that life is too precious to waste and to enjoy what we have, while we still can. She worries too much; she and daddy are perfectly capable to defend our land. Even if she's stopped her training, mom's still the strongest person on Earth.
When I see her in the mornings, I usually ask myself, why did she stop? Daddy and I both see that she misses the fighting... the action... the thrill of winning.
Some years ago, mom stopped all her training sessions. She asked that I stop and live the life of a normal princess. At first I was excited. No more waking up before six... then face my cranky mother—she's not a morning person—no more of her ideas of "fun" involving: being chased by dinosaurs, cliff diving, capturing those mean crooks in our land with daddy. It finally ended.
I thought I would be happy, but after a while I realized that I actually miss spending time with mommy—even if her games involved me almost dying. She's tried. I know she's been trying to be a role model of a mother and queen.
The thing is, she's depressed most of the time. Yes... she still smiles, laughs, and enjoys her position in society but she doesn't like concealing her true personality. In the past, she would get away from all her duties by spending her time with me or daddy.
Mom tries to show me the ways of being a queen: staying with the current events, speaking with the advisors of our country alongside of daddy, answering letters, keeping the staff organized, meeting with guests, and other things I barely care about.
Almost every morning I manage to sneak out, without the guards noticing, and run. I thought no one other than daddy notices my disappearance in the mornings, but I was wrong. For the past month, I see mom watching from one of the castle windows. She never looks mad or disappointed. In fact she never mentions what I do.
I didn't always sneak out in the mornings, it just started happening this past year. I suppose if anyone is to blame, it's the funny and cute boy... Goku.
Goku, the boy I'm promised to marry.
"What are you doing?"
I almost jumped at her voice! Guess I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings, again. Can anyone blame me though? When you're left to your own thoughts, your awareness to the outside world just vanishes. Especially when Goku's involved...
"Cousin? Hellooo?"
She playfully speaks again. A girl with her newly tanned hand waves inches away from my face, "Anyone in there?" The teasing in her voice was as evident as her relation to me.
"Of course, I'm here Crown." I answer my cousin in a daze.
Taurus Crown is the only child of my aunt, Queen Taurus. Auntie is the older sister of the Ox-King; Crown's parent's rule over the Taurus kingdom. Full of snow and freezing temperatures, a complete opposite of the Ox-Kingdom.
"Oh good," She rolls her brown eyes, "Move over! I want to be under the shade too."
I scooch a few inches away, extending my short legs out, and taking my helmet off. Crown copies my movement, getting to a comfortable position.
Her brown, mid length, hair tickled my nose as she slid lower to the tree. She unbuttons her grey blazer, pushing the sleeves up and kicked off her ankle boots.
"The heat is practically killing me!" she complains while fanning her face with her hands.
"I don't think it's that hot." She's just over exaggerating, she wore the wrong clothing—at least she remembered to wear shorts.
"Says the eleven year old wearing bikini armor." Crown groans as she covered her face.
Well... I happen to like my uniform.
"I swear! In this family, the only normal dressed ones are Aunt Fasha and me!" It's easy to see why both my cousin and mom get along—they enjoy fashion more than anyone I've ever met, "Hurry up and go through puberty cousin!"
I know she's only teasing but I actually want to go through puberty already! Mom's made it perfectly clear, I can't get married as a kid!
"If only it were easy." I said as I stared to the ground.
Her lips twitched to a smile, "Aunt Fasha won't let you find prince charming?"
"More like my knight in shining armor." I sigh loudly, "How many more years?!"
"How should I know?" She lets out a chortle, "If I'm not ready to marry at twenty then neither will you!"
I refuse to believe her claim. Crown's never met someone she'll want to marry like I have. Goku is everything I'll ever want! He's sweet, cute, funny, and just perfect! We're going to get married, have a family with lots of kids... maybe a couple, our kids are going to be just as perfect as—
"Kee-ow!"
"Is that a seagull?" Crown gawks pointing to our right.
Huffing and pouting at another distraction, I dejectedly crossed my arms turning to face the bird my cousin was surprised to see, "It's just a bird."
Seagulls don't usually pass through our kingdom unless it's their season. But even then, they only stay to rest and eat their fill like other birds in our pond. I didn't really see the big deal.
"Cousin," She stood up with her hands on her hips, "This bird happens to be the symbol of the Gull Kingdom!"
I blinked at her not really knowing if I should comment of how uninterested that fact was or ask why many of the monarch territories are named after an animal.
"You have no idea what it means do you?"
"Nope."
Her eyes narrowed while pointing at the bird, but keeping her eyes trained on me, "This specific bird isn't supposed to have traveled to this land—particularly not during this climate," she does have a point we're still months away from their migration, "which means either a disturbance has happened, or this bird didn't get the memo of natural migration till migration time." Her hands waved by her head while rolling her eyes, sarcasm detected in her voice as she finished her analysis.
"Can't we just say the bird is odd?" I gulped in fear, by disturbance she means something bad happened and that disturbance could be heading our way!
"NO!" She yells scaring the gull away, "No wait! Come back!"
My eyes went from the flying, squawking, black-tailed seagull to Crown, who was yelling, then to the gleaming orange ball on the grass bed. I recognize the ball! It was the exact same one Goku and friends were searching for over a year ago.
Could that be a sign?! A sign that he's coming soon! His mom did say they'll visit. Maybe they're on their way right now!
"Crown let's go!" I grabbed the small, brightly colored sphere before running back to the palace.
Onyx eyes stared right at mine. Short, black hair, slightly ragged from the amount of times her hand ran through and pastel pink lips that were pursed. This had been her appearance for over three minutes and twenty-two seconds already.
"Mom?"
"Aunt Fasha?"
Her eyes shifted to Crown for a few seconds before returning to mine.
She slouched on her brown, leather seat and covered her face, taking five deep breaths before uncovering half her face and pressing the fourth button down on her desk phone.
"Find my husband and tell him to come to my office."
"Yes Ox-Queen."
Daddy should be finishing up his mid-day appointment and even if it was running late, he'd always reschedule for another time. He's always said family is more important and besides, he can never say no to mommy.
I looked at my cousin who met my gaze, shrugging her shoulders and crossing her legs with her hands on her lap. Instead of following her example, I lightly kicked the air while waiting for dad to show up. Though, I don't know why mom won't just say something to us.
Knock, knock
The door opened, revealing daddy in his dull meeting suit.
"Anything new?" His voice not as loud or bubbly as usual.
I guess both mom and dad would be pretty tired, they recently finished rebuilding the kingdom and are trying to find solutions to the returning villager's problems along with setting up new attractions and shops to draw more people. They've been working non-stop for almost two weeks already, only taking breaks for meal time and sleep. Well, also now I suppose.
"Our niece believes one of the neighboring villagers might have been attacked and our daughter thinks Gine and her son are coming to visit." She says tiredly, opening one of her drawers taking out a small white and blue bottle.
"I'll..." He lets out a loud yawn, "I'll send one of our messengers and a consultant over to where you believe our neighboring villagers were attacked Crown." Another yawn, "Chi-Chi why do you believe they're coming?" He takes the bottle from mom gulping a couple tablets down.
Taking the sphere out from behind I showed it to him, "This is the ball they came for last time remember?"
He nods, rubbing his beard, "Yes I remember, I believe they called it a dragon ball."
"It's the same one and I believe it's a sign that they're coming!"
Mom who was more awake now clears her throat, "Didn't you say the seagull dropped it off?" I nodded at her, she continued, "Then it might be a coincidence."
My eyes watered at her notation, "Now Chi-Chi, we know how much you want to see this boy again..." Dad started but paused, giving mom a silent plea to continue.
She sighs heavily, rubbing her temples with closed eyes, "If it'll make you happier, I'll inform the guards to keep their eyes out for a woman and her son with tails."
"That's right, then they'll be escorted right into the family room." Dad finished nodding in approval.
Laying on our stomachs, we both picked at the flowers growing, creating tiny bouquets, mine was made of orchids and Crown's made of tulips.
"Engaged..." She kept repeating, "Engaged... really?"
Since we left mom's office she has muttered on and on of the new information she has grasped. Her reaction at the start was amusing; eyes wide as a deer, mouth agape, and not at all the appearance of a proper lady.
I let her talk to herself knowing she'll snap out of it soon.
"Engaged?! And to a commoner too?!"
That is true. As far as I know, neither Goku nor his mother have a rank or title, but as soon as we get married, he'll be referred to as the prince of the Ox-kingdom.
"Don't forget mom wasn't part of any royal family either."
As soon as I was exposed to other royal families, they've marked me as a half-blood since mom doesn't carry any of the blue blood the others inherited. Rarely though, do they comment on it since, most fear my parents. Shortly after they married, their army started advancing and gained high marks. Our military force wasn't number one though, Earth's ruler: King Furry had the winning army.
Strange isn't it? Multiple royal families across the planet, yet we need one true king to keep peace. The position of Earth's king doesn't pass down due to bloodline; to get to this point is by actually being voted by the other monarchy parties. For instance, a regular person can't run as ruler of Earth, but a royal blood may, since they have a background towards running a kingdom.
"Aunt Fasha might have started her life as a commoner," She stared intensely at her bouquet, "But she had to learn and make a name for herself for others to respect her place by uncle's side. Do you think your Goku will even want to be brought into the life of royalty?"
My hand stills from pulling on an orchid, "I…I think so," I say uncertainly.
Many believe that living the life of royalty is freelance and having all the riches in the world, but for those who are or exposed to our circles, they learn the true meaning of being a blue blood. It's a job that you can never leave: you live it, breathe it, and be it. The three basic rules our governesses teach us from a young age.
"Cousin, please take my opinion into consideration,"
Of course I will. Out of everyone I know, it's my cousin's voice that matters the most to me.
"When you see your promised again, be more acquainted and try to understand his personality more. Who knows how he'll react to one day becoming the new king of the Ox-Kingdom or even taking his responsibilities as prince."
I frown sadly, peering down, "What if Goku…"
She took my hands in hers combining our flowers together, "There are always other options," As long as Goku's involved I'll take those options, "But hey, if he's worth it then I'll stand by the newlyweds and support you from the start!" Her grin in the end breaks mine out.
Having supporters are always better than having none. Connections are what builds character and aids kingdoms. Crown being the sole heir will one day take her place as queen and have the responsibilities her parents and mine face today. I have the same path as I'm the first and only child.
Even if my parents decided to have another child, he or she wouldn't become king or queen. They would be marked as duke or duchess after I have my first born. If I was born during my dad's early years then I wouldn't be taking place in becoming a queen. Unless I married a prince, like my aunt. That law has long by been abolished.
Sounds of strong winds, the smell of petroleum—no—more like cordite, along with slight rustic metal came to my senses, seconds before Crown spotted something from a distance, "What in the world is that?"
"A ship…maybe?" Even with my heightened sight I couldn't tell, the appearance is akin to a sphere, but the scent detected is the same an aircraft would have: unbearable.
Crown stood squinting at a distance, "Should we go greet them?"
As much as I don't want to, I knew as visitors came it was required for the members of the royal family to present them with greetings.
"Alright," dusting my cape of grass, I suddenly grinned with an idea playing, "I'll race you down Crown!"
"What?! Wait!" She called out, already yards behind me.
I believe it's safe to say mom and me are not fools nor amused. Dad might have been tricked easier, but we can recognize a disguise from a mile away.
Before us are three people, one claiming to be my promised and the other two claiming to be his cousins. There are many mistakes with their tale and once we get dad to see this he'll have them sent away.
"So tell me why Gine couldn't have come?" Mom asked coldly, crossing her arms with an intimidating aura surrounding her, glare directed straight at the impostors.
I attempted to copy her appearance with my tail puffing from my waist.
"Oh you know family problems." The little troll replied nervously, taking a step back behind the woman.
My nails dug into my gloved palms as I bit my tongue from calling them on their lie, Goku's only family was his mother. The exterior I presented must have looked something like mom's if the phonies trembled when they glanced at me, "Your daughter takes much from you!" The female squeaks.
"Doesn't she?!" Dad boasts, awake now, patting my head and mom's, oblivious to the atmosphere, "Where is Crown?! You three must meet her if you'll be family one day!"
She's not slow. Strange she hasn't caught up yet. I'm sure she spotted another non-native animal or plant and is currently evaluating how it came to the land.
"You know what? I'll go get her," Mom announced throwing a pointed glance at me, "As long as those frauds are gone by the time I get back," her voice loud enough for only me to hear.
Gleefully I nodded, "I'll make sure of it mommy."
No promises where the three are headed though, I grumbled in my head.
Once mom's out of view I turn to dad, "Did you check if any news came back yet?" I knew there wouldn't. I might not know everything about our neighbors, but I knew the geography enough to know the trip would've been at least three hours to arrive and another three to return, "They could've sent a message by now."
"You're right I should go check," He turned around already heading inside the castle, "I'll be right back."
I waited till dad's loud steps were gone before growling out, "Alright who are you bozos?!"
"Mai! I thought you said the daughter is the frighty kind?"
"Emperor Pilaf, her father is known as the devil's king!"
Pilaf and Mai conversed in panicked whispers, unaware I could hear them perfectly. The supposed "Goku" moved his head around at every sound his two partners were making.
"Gah whatever!" Pilaf finally yelled, "Little girl just give us the dragon ball!" He placed his open hand out. As if I'd actually give in to his demand.
"This dragon ball?" I took the orange ball out, eyeing the angry troll with smugness, "Nope!" What's he going to do? I'm the Ox-Princess.
Stomping on the ground like a frustrated toddler, he waved his arms, "Mai! Shu! Get me that dragon ball!"
"Right away sir!" Shu had finally taken off the mask revealing his true appearance of a dog. Well that explains his wet dog smell.
Both his minions took out weapons. Mai, her pistol and Shu, his sword, "Well little girl?"
My eyes widen and all confidence gone, I retorted nervously, "Y-You wouldn't dare harm the Ox-princess."
"Sir I really don't think we can harm her," Shu trembled.
"Yeah imagine how her parents would react." Obviously they heard of their reputation.
Turning red, their boss screamed, "Shut up! Why would I care how those big stupid Ox couple would react?! Just get me that Dragon Ball!"
"WAHH!" My shrill echoes through the gardens as panic pierces my system and instincts take action of the predicament. With my tail grasping the dragon ball, my hands are free to take the blade from my helmet sending it towards the trio, knocking their artillery away.
"What in the…?" One of them is next to me!
"Get away!" Grasping the person by the arm I pushed them to the side, "Daddy! Mommy!" the lasers from my helmet went off shooting at whomever.
Screams from the other party filled the air, "Plan B! Plan B!"
"What's plan B—gah!" Don't look, don't look, just shoot and they'll go away!
"RETREEAATT!"
Still trembling in panic, I waited till I could no longer hear the three and their ship's sound, before attempting to open one eye.
Seconds ticked by before the shocked voice of daddy came, "What on Earth happened here?"
"Huh?" Opening my eyes and glancing around, I gulped noticing most of the garden leaves were on the ground, fruits splattered around, shrubs and statues once in perfect formation now in shapes of ruin.
"Chi-Chi," Dad peered down at my form, "Do you know what happened here?"
Smiling guiltily I nodded, "Those three people weren't who they said they were and I got scared daddy." My eyes widened innocently with a pouting expression.
He hummed nodding, "I suppose I'll just tell the gardeners to fix this place up…again." It sure is good to have the Ox-King as your father, "Wonder where the guards are?" I wonder too.
The two of us quickly conversed and apologized to the gardeners for the mess. Dad promised them a bonus to ease some of their suffering from spending countless hours perfecting our garden.
"It's very important Chi-Chi to be in good terms with your people." He reminded me while walking through the halls of the castle, "Being in good terms mean that they'll support you and your decisions."
Even dad has to teach and remind me of running a monarchy.
"And if they don't?" My thoughts shifting back to earlier.
"Then you listen to their concerns and try to reassure them." He said.
There's much to think and take in before the time comes. For now I should try to do what dad is telling me to do, be on good terms with our people and in turn, they'll support me. Maybe I should get more involved with our monarch world. Crown's been more exposed than I have, she'll know what to do!
I started going through a different hall when dad called out, "Chi-Chi before you go anywhere, your mother and I would like you to come to the lounge for a quick moment."
"What for?" I asked, already following him down the steps and towards the large mahogany doors.
"Go in and see for yourself." He gestured towards the doors with his colossal hands with a grin appearing.
Tilting my head in question I sniffed around wondering if there was something inside. There were multiple scents making it difficult to pinpoint who exactly were in there. Mom's citrus aroma is definitely in there along with Crown's lavender, but who were the others?
There were a couple of familiar, yet still unrecognizable smells in there. A fairly sugary sweet scent and an earthy wood like smell were the ones, but there were still another or maybe two that were foreign.
I wonder who these guests were, hopefully not another impostor, I thought as I pushed the giant light weight doors open.
"Mom?"
"Chi-Chi, come and greet our guests." She gestured from her seat on the creamy, brown couch to join them.
Not even two steps inside and I already zeroed in on the chibi boy dressed in orange with untidy hair sitting on the edge of the opposite couch next to his mother.
He happily looked towards me, "Hey Chi-Chi! Remember me?!"
"Goku!" Why would I ever forget him? "You came!" I squeal.
He leaps off the couch, landing right in front of me, "Well yeah we were planning on visiting soon."
He has been thinking about me!
"…and now we're here earlier than planned."
"That's nice." I sigh happily barely listening, catching the end of his speech only.
"I should've brought my camera," Crown's voice reminded me that we weren't alone, "they almost make me want to have kids."
"Children are such a delight to have!" Goku's mom cheerfully said.
My face reddened, six pairs of eyes staring straight at us, most with amused expressions and others with wonder. Goku glanced at my face asking, "Why are you blushing?" his naivety is just charming!
Mom clears her throat, "Chi-Chi,"
"Uh-huh." I nodded slowly without taking my eyes off of him.
"Crown will the two of you escort the boys up towards the guest rooms?"
Boys? I glanced back at the couch to see not only my future mother in-law, but two other boys too. One of them is bald with dark eyes wearing the same brightly colored clothing as Goku and his mother, the other was a blue haired boy wearing a blue shirt and slippers. The latter appearing as if he wanted to be anywhere, but here.
"Sure Aunt Fasha," Crown stood up sauntering over towards us, "Nice meeting you Gine!"
Before leaving I skipped over towards the adults, "I would love it if we can get to know each other okaasan!" After all, when Goku and I marry I want the two of us to be familiarized with our families.
"Of course sweets!" She took my gloved hand in hers, "I can't wait to call you my yome!"
Mom choked on air for a moment, "I think we're still a long way from that day." Dad came behind her patting her back while commenting, "Actually the marriage consent ages—oof!"
Mommy elbows him, scowling in his direction, "What ages they marry doesn't matter," She hisses, "The matter is if they're sure about the commitment they'll be making."
Gine rolls her eyes at mom, giving a teasing reply, "Someone doesn't want her baby to grow up."
Mom turns red refusing to answer but dad does, unaware of the glare she's shooting him with, "She is our only child and Fasha is protective of her baby."
"Oh Fasha!" Goku's mother rushes towards my mom, embracing her in a tight hold.
"What is it with you and hugging?!" Mom shouts attempting to get away, but dad grabs hold of the two joyfully laughing.
Crown calls my name reminding me of our task, "Sheesh, I've never seen Aunt Fasha actually let anyone hug her like that other than uncle!" she tells me once we're out of the room.
"Looks more like she was getting away." The blue haired boy scoffed.
"Nah, Aunt Fasha was enjoying it, right cousin?"
While mom did appear to want to get away, I knew she did see Gine as a friend and would never harm her intentionally, "Trust me. If mom doesn't like something, she usually escapes."
"Here are the guestrooms," Crown pointed towards the western hall, "I think Gine would be more comfortable in her own room and the three of you sharing one."
Goku stopped walking making the bald boy bump into him, "What?" His face turns stunned as if he's never heard such a lie.
The other orange dressed boy let out a snicker, "Goku always sleeps next to his mom." Now the other boy was laughing loudly. I don't see anything funny with wanting to sleep with your parent, perhaps a little odd.
"What about a connecting room?" I tell them pointing towards my left. The door was made of sandalwood, painted in a coating of red, and designs of mini animals on the bottom painted in silver. Most of the doors of the guest wing had different designs to add zest to the introduction of the rooms.
"Connecting room?" Goku opens the door questioning the phrase.
Inside is a grey, carpeted room, navy colored walls, matching sofas in the center facing one another and a couple of beds on the far left, "This door," I pointed to the right, "Is another room connected to this one."
"This place looks big enough to be a small house!" The bluenette says taking in the room.
"One of the perks of living in a palace," Crown says amusedly, "Anyway since you already know my name and we know Goku's, what are yours?"
The bluenette says his first, "Rusty." He goes through everything he sees, touching and not letting one place go unnoticed.
"And I'm Krillin." The other says, glancing at the television.
I handed him the remote, "Here you go!"
"Alright we'll leave the three of you alone for now," Crown grabs my hand before I could interrupt. "If you need us we'll be in my room, across this corridor on the left, two doors down."
"So you want to go out more?" After coming into Crown's room we both basically changed into our sleeping clothes and hopped onto her bed, talking about today's events.
I nodded determinedly, "If I can figure out a way to have supporters then they'll bear with my decisions."
She groans at my statement, "Cousin, you still need to figure out how Goku will react."
"I'm sure he'll visit more often." There will be plenty of time for him to get comfortable.
"Okay so you're kind of right with the supporters," She acknowledges, "Though it's not just the villagers or townspeople. You also need to have different monarch families that stand by you."
"How?" Gaining approval from the royals is a lot harder than one would think.
She ponders for a moment before answering, "From what I can recall from Aunt Fasha," Crown was around eight or nine when mom married dad and entered the monarch, "She gained supporters from the commoners by being a hero figure to them and towards the blue bloods by gaining a reputation of rising fame towards the Ox-kingdom and partially training the army in the beginning.
"Well Goku is training to becoming one of the best marital artists." At least I'm guessing.
Crown taps her chin lying back on the bed, "Okay then we can check one thing off our list."
"What's that?" I'm curious as to what he did or I said.
"One of the most fond things royals look for is having knowledge of combat skills," My brow raises in disbelief, "Believe it or not cousin, it's true." Still in question she continues, "Not all are able to display much but that's why most show their talents through other skills."
I think I understand a little better, "Like our family having a history with swordsmanship?" From dad's side his family has a long history of taking blades and molding them into tradition. I'm supposed to start learning how to fence pretty soon.
"Exactly." She yawns rubbing her face, "Sleeping here tonight?" Most nights when Crown visits, I sleep in the same room as her.
"Yeah but first, I need something to drink." I can't sleep without having something warm in my stomach.
"Kay."
Once I had some warm milk, I headed back to Crown's room, but stopped when I spotted Goku leaning beside the semi opened doors leading to the family room.
"Go—!" His hands covered my mouth before I could finish uttering his name.
"Shh." He hushes quietly, motioning to the room our mother's were still present.
Confused, I listened in with him wondering why he felt the need to silently spy on instead of going to sleep. It's pretty late.
"Are you sure you're not trying to…" My mom's voice silently came through, sounding depressed. What are they talking about?
"…replace him."
Replace? Replace who?!
"Fasha I just think it's time." Gine's response is much quieter, my ears straining to hear.
"They're still pretty young." Are they speaking about us? The look Goku held was enough to know he suspected the same thing.
"Isn't it best for them to get used to the news?" Gine sounded doleful.
Their voices were more hushed now, not even I or do I believe Goku could hear what they were saying. This lasted for a couple minutes before their voices rose.
"He really does look like his father." Are they speaking about Goku?
"I know... same hair... eyes… he's looking more like him each day." Goku doesn't look happy at the comparisons. In fact it's almost as if he's annoyed. His eyes narrowed and the hands left my mouth to gripping the wall's edge.
Mom continued the conversation from where Gine left off, "Tell him about them, but," her voice almost sounds as if she's pleading, "Can't we tell the kids together about their heritage?"
Our heritage? Does that mean wherever mom's from, Gine is too?
"Alright let's just not wait too long."
"There you are," Crown appeared behind us, tiredly rubbing her eyes, "Goku you should go to bed, we're going too."
I peered at Goku, trying to judge his reaction. To my surprise he grinned sheepishly, "I am pretty tired."
"Come on I'll take you to your room." She yawns turning back to the stairs.
I gave Goku a concerned look, "Are you alright?" I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but whatever it is, I don't think Goku likes it much.
He shrugs, still smiling, "Yeah," he started walking to the stairs stopping at the bottom, "Mom's not though." I don't believe I was meant to hear the last part.
The morning is pretty beautiful.
From the moment I woke up the sounds of the early workers, singing birds, and shining sun that started to peak from the windows were an indication of another day. This day however, I get to see Goku in the morning! I don't know how long he'll be here but I'm going to make the most of our morning together!
First though, our breakfast must be served!
Mom and dad managed to reschedule most of their events to participate in the family breakfast. It's quiet baffling the amount of food we have served during each meal, though not as perplexed as seeing both Sons consume the same amount as mom. Dad may eat a lot, but even he can't compete with mother's eating habits.
The others had different styles of eating their meal. Crown eats the same way my governess drilled into my head: straight back, no slouching, don't make any noise, eat what's considered your fill and never show others you still want more than proper. I know mom had the same teachings, but she only uses them when she's in a banquet. I on the other hand have it permanently lodged as normal like my cousin.
Krillin grabs what he wants, eating with any single utensil he grasps. He alters from slurping to munching loudly of the food provided. Some of the food he grabs isn't even with the right spoon!
Rusty has the worst table manners I've ever witnessed! He isn't using any of the silverware, grabbing the food with his fingers and snatching bowls with his hands to drink up liquids. The boy is stuffing his face with multiple foods at a time and munching with his mouth opened revealing the chewed cuisine.
No one other than Crown and me notice everyone's preference to eating. I know she's itching to tell the bluenette to at least use his spoon or fork, but another lodged teaching is don't tell another they have bad eating habits. Though this one is easily breakable considering the times I've been scolded for having extra snacks.
Breakfast is coming to an end and dad loudly announces, "That was an amazing meal! Where did you learn to cook like that Gine?"
My eyes wander over to the smiling mother who was happily munching on a muffin, "Here and there." It's impossible to tell she was upset the night before with her chirpy attitude, "Every ingredient was in the kitchen along with extras I thought would make the food yummier!"
"I actually think your food is competitive with mine now!"
It's not exactly required for any noble to learn to cook, but a hobby for anyone who wants to take it up. I glance at Goku whose face is full of syrup and crumbs while rubbing his overfull belly blissfully. Maybe I should ask daddy to teach me how to cook or even the castle's chefs.
"It's really nice out today," Crown looks behind the boys seats where the large windows were revealing the morning sun, "Anyone up for a stroll?"
Mom said she and Gine still have to catch up, and dad told us his next meeting is set up after the meal. Since they're busy it'll just be the five of us.
His expression varies from content, cheerful, excited, and adrenalized. Like his mother there isn't any indication of any negative emotion. With the short amount of time I've met and seen them its apparent neither enjoys showing any unenthusiastic sentiments towards others or themselves.
Would this be a good trait to pass on to our future kids? Mom has a similar demeanor, but unlike her they express positivity towards everything. Isn't hiding your true thoughts and feelings considered unhealthy? Or is it more true to say their ill feelings disappear quickly?
Sigh... one day really isn't enough to understand your groom. That doesn't mean I won't try!
Sending Crown a pleading expression, she raises her brow inquiring my suggestion. Motioning towards Goku and then the other two boys, she shook her head, scowling at my silent proposal. Huffing, I changed my expression to the façade of a puppy in depression and forlorn. She turned her face, but her eyes came back to mine. Sulking, she finally gave in to my command.
"Krillin! Rusty!" She jogs up ahead capturing their attention, "I want to show the two of you something!" Confused but still willing to follow, they took the lead leaving me behind with Goku.
"What do you think she wants to show them?!" He asks eyeing the apple trees lined up by the trail.
I pretended to think before answering, "Probably the rose field," It is a possible location and far enough for them not to interrupt our conversation, "Would you like an apple?"
Goku's eyes lightened up, "Yes!"
He darts to the nearest tree, climbing up to reach for the ripe fruits. Even after we ate, not half an hour ago, he's still eager to eat more. Another personal aspect is his love for food.
Crown did say to know his character more before assuming.
What I know about him is his love for food, his large appetite, positive and naive attitude, very little to none table manners, his close relationship to his mother, and he isn't one to hold any grudges. These are all nice things to know, but I want to know about our future!
Leaning on the tree he climbed, I called out, "Goku,"
He appeared upside down beside me, hanging from a branch with his tail, "Hm-mm?" his mouth full of apples.
"How many kids should we have after we marry?" I think we should be in the same page and agree in the number of kids we both want, "I want a big family!"
I could just imagine several toddlers and babies running and crawling around the castle and fields along with all of them having a similar appearance to me and him, maybe even to our parents! Dark haired, onyx eyes, ivory and olive tones—oh they'll just be the most adorable!
"Do babies really need both a father and mother?" He asks swallowing the last bit of apple in his mouth.
Blushing and stuttering I ask, "W—well that's h—how they're m—made." I'm pretty sure he's mentioned his mother giving him the talk.
"So it's not likely that a mom can have a baby without a dad?" His questions caught me off guard. How exactly did she tell him the creation of a baby?
"Goku... what exactly did your mom tell you about babies?"
He blinks tilting his head up and scratching the back of his neck, "She said girls and boys are born differently," we both turn slightly red remembering our own talks of the distinction of genders, "and the reason for babies is because of that difference!"
"Well that sounds about right." What exactly is his question?
"If girls are the ones with babies then why should a boy be involved?"
Flushing in response I erupted in a fit of giggles, "Oh Goku," he's joking with me isn't he? "Why are you such a tease?!" Playfully shoving him away during my fit causes him to yelp, falling down and wincing.
"I'm sorry!" The unnatural strength I've inherited from my parents was not something anyone expected, except maybe mom.
He sat back up rubbing his head grinning, "That's okay! Have you been training?"
"No. Not really," I should pick up on it again shouldn't I though? Compromising would work best for our happiness. Goku entering my world would mean making sure he at least has some of his old life to still go back to, food and fighting is what this boy lives for isn't it?
I can work that, as long as he's not going through any life and death situation.
Goku glances above my head pointing towards the sky, asking, "What's that?"
"Huh?" Almost a mile away could I see a green jet heading to the west, "Another visitor?" Most of the associates or actual invited guests come to the Ox-Kingdom by personal copters with their symbol printed on.
"Should we head back?"
I frowned as the jet circled around my village a few times before heading back east. That's strange, "I think we should." There's something off about the scene we just witnessed.
"Let's take Nimbus," He took a deep breath before yelling out the name of his fluffy, yellow cloud. I almost forgot about this joyride!
"Sorry princess but your mother and her companion left around ten minutes ago." The brunette guard told me, sounding apologetic. His posture slightly kneeling to speak to me face to face, "Your father though finished his conference. If you'd like, I could tell him you want to meet up with him."
"Oh please," I clasped my hands together, "I saw some unknown aircraft entering our territory and was wondering if they were authorized or even granted permission to enter the land."
His green eyes widened before standing and motioning with his hand to his partner standing on alert by our main doors, "Did you see anything earlier?"
"No." The other frowned rubbing his red mustache as if he's attempting to remember anything out of the ordinary, "Best to alert the others to be on the lookout."
"Is it something to worry about then?" I ask, taking a step closer to Goku who stood silently, watching and listening to the conversation.
The two guards exchanged a look before the shorter of the two walked off speaking into his intercom. The brunette opened his mouth to respond only to be caught off by a loud rumbling the ground is making. We all snapped our heads back to see several tanks heading our way with their deadly missiles aimed towards the villager's home and our castle!
"What are those?" Goku asks, curious to the sight of the giant war machines routing our way.
Swearing under his breath, the sentry of the castle knocked the doors down. The guard grasped my hand. Knowing he was taking me somewhere, I latched onto Goku, "What're those things outside?!"
"Not positive though we have a guess," The man shook his head not believing the assumption might be true, "The two of you stay inside and don't come out till we say so." He pushed us inside a room in the first floor away from the main doors.
"Wait what's your name?" Before he left, I curiously asked the guard's name.
"Surveil, princess." He shut the door locking it in place and keeping us in.
I stayed in place watching the locked wood fearfully. It wasn't until the first sound of an explosive, jolting my mind back in place, "Oh no... what's happening?!" I rushed towards the windows where Goku was currently peering through.
"I don't think they're very nice." He says, covering his ears with each missile launched and hitting concrete walls.
I nodded my head, agreeing, "Who are they?" Distinctly I could make out the characters on the front of their tanks: RR. My mind ran through every initial I memorized trying to see if I've ever heard of anything... but nothing came to mind.
"Don't know but I'm going to find out!" He stands on the windows edge reaching for the lock above.
"No don't!" I pulled his leg, making him loose his footing. Luckily he gripped the curtains before he fell, "We have no idea how dangerous they are!"
"Chi-Chi let go!" He says trying to shake my hands off, "I've got to go and help!"
"No," I gasp remembering something or someone, "Oh no Crown's still out there and so are the other two!"
Goku's eyes widen, recalling the other three we were with, "Great, they're probably out there having all the fun!"
"Goku!" Aggravated, I corrected him, "No they're most likely in danger!"
Another blast sounded much closer along with a very familiar battle cry, "Dad?" we turned back to the windows to see dad rushing towards the tanks with his helmet and ax in place.
Relief filled me until a net shot out of a projectile weapon, capturing his form, "He'll get out," I said more to myself than him, "Nets can't hold him." I'm right. I've seen dad escape from multiple enclosures in the past.
"Maybe not, but do you want to take the chance?" Goku asks his hand itching to open the lock and join in the battle with the guards.
I shook my head, wincing as I see them being captured and tied the same way dad was being held, "Where's mom when you need her?" I ask before helping Goku with the window.
The two of us sprinted to the scene. Groups of men came from the outside. One of the men announced loudly, "Surrender your dragon ball and your village will be spared!"
"They came for that thing too?!" I grumbled, catching Goku off guard.
"You have a dragon ball?" He asks almost eagerly, "How many stars?"
I thought back before saying, "Six stars."
He groaned, "That's not grandpa!" Seeing my puzzled expression he elaborated, "We're searching for the four stars which originally belongs to mom and me!"
So it's a family heirloom, I thought.
Finally closer to the once again destroyed village, I searched for my dad and the unconscious guards, "So far for sparing the village."
Everything was once again ruined! First the fire and now these rebels, can't the Ox-kingdom catch a break?
Removing the ax from my helmet with my protected gloves, I aimed it towards the closest gunman, hunching down to pick up one of the many capsules lying around.
"What the hell?" The bear man shouts, jumping away and aiming his revolver at us, "Who are you?"
The rest of the crew around aimed their firearms towards us. Good thing all their tanks were capsulated. My brave face wouldn't have been able to stay straight with missiles, "This land belongs to my family you have no right to trespass! Who are you people?!"
He glared straight at me, pointing his gun, "I don't like your attitude!" The bear growls ready to shoot, courage leaving me before I could blink.
"WAHHH!" My cries pierce the air alerting everyone of my presence, "Daddy! Mommy! Guards! Someone!" The laser from my helmet going off each time I sensed someone nearing, "Get away from me! Don't you dare hurt a princess! Didn't anyone teach you never to harm a girl?!"
Still trembling, even after I couldn't feel the presence of the terrible men, I cried out for help hating the fact there's horrifying people near my presence. Somehow...my frantic laser light show managed to bring down some of the attackers.
"Chi-Chi calm down." Goku said from nearby, "Let's just get everyone out of those nets."
Nodding, I skipped over the bodies on the ground searching for the largest cover in the area, knowing that be my dad.
One stood out from the rest and moments after spotting it a large hand came out ripping the confinement away, "He's over there!"
The two of us went to his side helping him get the lattice rope off of him, "Don't...," He huffed tiredly, "Don't tell your mother..." I looked up at him listening, "You were out here." Grunting the last bit out dad collapses back on the ground.
"He's breathing," Goku says after a few moments, "Let's get the others out."
We release only eight of the men when the unconscious army men finally woke up, "Let's get out of here now!"
Good riddance! I thought until I heard one of the men say, "Colonel Silver has attained the dragon ball!" What?!
"Oh no," I whispered as the soldiers quickly made their escape by their personal jets, "You don't suppose they wanted it for something good do you?" I'm still not completely sure what the orange balls are supposed to do, but they must hold an importance for different people journeying to collect them.
Goku shook his head, "Don't know but no worries, they can't do anything without all seven and as soon as I find grandpa, I'm not letting him go."
After we finished releasing the rest of the guards, I slid on the broken cement, "This would have gone differently with mom present." At least I hope it would've.
"Goku!" The sound of his mother's voice was music to my ears, "What happened here!?" She swooped down releasing her hold of Krillin and grasping her son, "Are you alright? Nothing broken?" Gine inspected her child from every visible spot worrying over any slight injury she might find, though there were none.
My mom came soon after letting go of Crown and Rusty, lifting my body up and asking angrily what happened while taking in the broken houses and destroyed gardens.
Neither of our moms let us speak nor did it become possible when the trio came over, Krillin worrying over Goku, Crown over me and dad, and Rusty in a panicky mood.
"I really wish we could stay longer and help with the rebuilding." Gine told us regretfully, "Perhaps we can come back soon."
Mom rubs her eyes, waving her hand in a dismissing manner, "Its fine!" She bangs her head on the broken barrier wall, "We've only finished rebuilding a couple weeks ago, and we can do it again!" Hysteria present in her voice.
"Yes, we should also cancel this month and next month's meetings." Dad reminded her, causing mom to almost smile until he continued, "We'll be clouded with appointments before the year ends!"
She pulls on her hair hissing, "If I ever see one of those mangy dirt bags who did this…"
Interrupting her fit, I asked, "Where were you guys this time?!" It seems every time something happens she misses the chance to get involved and stop it before progressing further.
"That was my fault." Goku's mom whimpered, "I just really needed something and Fasha said I should have them!"
Krillin comes up to her asking, "What did you need?"
"Yeah what was so important that you needed to leave the village?" Goku asks, curious of our mothers' need to depart the area.
Mom sighs, pulling out a capsule from her boots, "We had to visit an attorney to grant Gine permission for having Krillin under her wing."
She hands the small device over to her friend, "Good thing we did it now too, I don't think I'd be able to leave Fire-Mountain for another…year."
"Is there another reason you had to go too Aunt Fasha?" Crown speculates, glancing at Rusty who was looking at anywhere but us.
Sighing, mom nodded, "Yes, originally Gine came to ask for help,"
"And we found a dragon ball but it wasn't the right one." Goku says uninterested already knowing the story.
"Actually, I didn't come for help for a dragon ball Goku." His mom responds smiling and peering at the bluenette boy.
"She came to ask that we help Rusty." Everyone turns around to stare at the stunned boy who points to himself in disbelief, "Yes you."
Gine goes over to him smoothing his hair, "You were being raised as a homeless child without a penny to your name," He winces, "But now you'll be living like royalty…literally."
"What?" Not only him, but I also practically shout.
"It's not definite," Mom shrugs.
Crown walks over to Rusty whispering, "She's just playing," She motions for me to join her, "Welcome to the family kid!" She pushed our shoulders together forcing the two of us to face reality.
"Well new brother," I start scratching my temple uncertain of how to take this in, "The castle might not be in top shape…again, but at least you'll start getting used to the family!"
Dad laughs at our awkwardness picking the three of us up, "Oh boy I can't wait for the castle to be built! I have much to teach you boy!"
"We should be going now," Gine says as Goku calls for the nimbus cloud, "I'm really sorry I couldn't spend time with you Chi-Chi but next time I will!"
Still in dad's arm, I almost whimpered when my beloved and his family left again.
"Till next time."
Is it what you expected? *Grins*
While most of DB will mostly be focused on Goku, once in a while we'll take a detour to Chi-Chi! I'd like for everyone who isn't her biggest fan to actually understand her character and background. In this story she's part saiyan which will alter her character somewhat, but some of her reactions towards the future and present are based on how she was raised, her character didn't become...overprotective...over night. I personally like how her character is made X)
Time to address some things:
If anyone feels I'm not appreciating the reviews, then sorry about that!I tend to respond to the questions instead of everyone. Let's see if I can take away that habit!
Some are still commenting on the pairings, just read and see how they're formed. Yes, Trunks/Pan and Goten/Bra pairing will be closer to age, and if any of you are thinking I'll be making them an instant pairing, then your wrong. There will be a chibi couple who have an immediate attraction, but those two are OCC and won't be revealed till much later.
