A light breeze blew through the window of a young girl's apartment and around the young couple inside. The girl smiled as it lifted her hair and tickled her nose. Putting her hair up, she went back to reading her book. The boy had that certain look on his face. You know the one. The one that shows how happy they are to watch the one they love enjoying something great. The one were they can't look away from an unbelievable beauty. The one that speaks of unconditional love the person feels. The one all girls want to be looked at with. But of course the girl never sees it when the guy looks at them like that.
"Hey Natsu, why don't you just go home? It's got to be kinda boring just sitting around here while I read." Lucy said as she finally glanced up from her book.
"No, it's fine. There's nothing to do now anyway." Natsu sighed.
"What do you mean there's nothing to do! There's always something for you!" Lucy was astonished. Natsu was always in motion. Either he was fighting Gray or fishing with Happy or going on mission with a promise for exciting battles. She put her book down on the bed beside her and looked at the pink haired boy quizzically. Balancing on her hands, Lucy moved to examine Natsu closer. The said boy sat still with his arms crossed as the blonde moved closer to him and looked for anything that could suggest illness.
"Lucy, what are you doing?" Natsu mumbled while trying not to notice the closeness and the sweet overpowering smell of strawberries and vanilla.
"I'm checking if you are alright! You just said there was nothing to do!"
"I just don't want to do the same old stuff. It's getting repetitive."
Lucy sat back, back to where she was before they said anything.
"Then,.. what are you going to do? Like I said it can't be fun to sit and watch me read."
"Well, for now it's fine." Natsu smiled.
" Are you sure?" Lucy asked doubtfully.
"Yeah!"
Lucy picked her book up again and with one more look at the still smiling Natsu, started reading again. She returned to the world of wizardry schools and evil dark lords. This world of magic was so different from hers but it was something she couldn't break from. Natsu, true to his word, sat on the other end of the bed watching her read. Some times he wondered what she was reading but then others, he didn't care because he just liked watching the emotions pass.
"What's that one about?" Natsu asked, breaking the silence again.
Lucy giggled at his curiosity, or maybe it was the urge to fill the silence. "Wizards."
"But if it's about wizards, why read it? It's just like us." Natsu was confused. Why read about it when she could do it?
"Well, there are some differences. Like for one, they have to use wands for their magic and they can use any type. Their not limited to fire or ice or celestial spirits. And another, they can't use their magic freely. They have to hide it from the non-magical people. And they train in schools to learn how to properly use and control spells, charms, and potions."
Lucy's face lit up as she discussed the world in the book with Natsu. It was a look Natsu loved to see. Though he tried to not let it show. Who knows what Lucy would do to him if she didn't approve.
"And they have real fire breathing dragons there! Though they mostly stay in a country called Romania. I wish I could have met a dragon before they.." Lucy had continued her talk but trailed off when she realized where she went. After she said that, she didn't even look at Natsu just in case he looked sad because of the comment, just went back to reading her book. Lucy was so desperate for the words on the page to distract her, she didn't even notice that Natsu had moved over to her and looked over her shoulder.
"How am I supposed to know there are dragons in here if there are no pictures!" he exclaimed.
Lucy looked at him silently for a few seconds then burst into laughter. While she was laughing, Natsu took it as his perfect opportunity to kiss her cheek. Now saying that Lucy wasn't expecting that would be an understatement. Her laughing stopped instantly and her cheeks turned pinker than Natsu's hair. Natsu smirked at the reaction he received.
"What was that for?" Lucy stuttered.
"I was bored and it seemed fun." Natsu said with a large grin.
"What! Nat-" Lucy started to yell at him but was cut off when he kissed her again. This time on the lips. Surprisingly, instead of pulling away and arguing, Lucy actually kissed him back and enjoyed the feel of his warm, full lips on hers.
When they broke apart, Lucy was at a loss of words and that's something that just doesn't happen for a writer.
"I like you, Luce. More than just nakama. Might actually be in love with you. But I'm not going to tell you until I'm sure." Natsu whispered from beside her.
"Like me? In love? Sure of what?" Lucy picked the highlights of the conversation and repeated them.
"Yeah. Um, sure that you possibly feel the...same."
It was actually the first time Lucy had ever seen him bashful. She looked directly at him and saw the awkwardness in his features. This really is uncomfortable for him to be speaking about his feelings.
"Of course, I Love you!" Lucy squealed and flung her body onto his then laughed.
