Together Part 2
"So, River, tell us about this new companion of the Doctor's?" asked Amy.
"Well, I've told you a little bit already"
"Yeah I remember, you said there are versions of her scattered throughout the Doctor's past and future"
"That's right, well she's smart, with a good sense of humour and she's also quite feisty and speaks her own mind too, she's not afraid to tell him off"
"I wish I could meet her"
There are a few moments of silence between the family until River says "I saw you, you know"
"When?"
"Your wedding"
"You were there?!"
"Yes, I looked through the window and saw the two of you, mother you looked amazing and father you didn't look too bad either"
"Oh thanks for that, hey did you see the Doctor dancing?"
"Oh yes, I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure he was dancing like a giraffe"
The three of them then laughed at that comment and also laughed because they remembered how he had been dancing.
"Before, I forget, I have something to give to you"
"What?"
River then pulls out 2 letter, one addressed to Amy and one to Rory.
"Are they from ...?" starts Amy.
"...your son in law, yes mother they are"
Amy opened her letter and it read:
Hello Amelia
It's the Doctor here, in case you didn't already know, anyway, don't have much time to write this so I'm sorry if it looks like scribble, the TARDIS is having some technical difficulties (she's not letting us land, but don't worry I'll sort it, I think).
I hope you're ok and that Rory is ok too, River told me you have a son, Anthony, congratulations, I know you're gonna be the fantastic parents that you never got the chance to be. River also said that you've been worrying about me, don't, I'm fine, I've got Clara, you'd love her, she's feisty, like you.
Anyway, stay safe, best wishes
The Doctor
"Thank you River"
"You're welcome, now go on father, read yours"
"Alright, alright" said Rory, opening the letter, it said:
Hello Rory the Roman
Hope you're ok, that New York is treating you well, it's a great city isn't it, I also hope that Amy's happy too.
River came by recently and Anthony, congratulations, I know you're gonna be the fantastic parents that you never got the chance to be. River also said that you've been worrying about me, don't, I'm fine, I've got Clara, you'd love her, though, I don't think you or I would be able to get a word in edgeways, what with Clara, Amy and River.
Don't worry about your dad, I went to him, to tell him what happened and in his exact words "Well, at least they're together", he also wanted me to tell you that he loves you and wishes you a long and happy life.
Gotta go now, there's a possibility the TARDIS might crash, see ya
The Doctor
"He also gave me something for Anthony"
"He did?"
"Yes" answered River, handing over a little box.
Amy took the box from her daughter, opened it, and there, nestles amongst some tissue paper was a book entitled Family.
"A book"
"Open it"
And so she did, and inside Amy saw that the Doctor had stuck some photo's into a plain book and put his own little anecdotes on the side. Amy kept turning the page until she found a photograph of the time they had all gone to Vegas, the Doctor had originally taken them there for a break, but they soon found that there was a problem there with this little creatures called Graske, annoying they were. On the last page Amy saw a photo of the picnic she, Rory and the Doctor had had in 21st century New York and she cried a little at it, especially when she saw the comment:
The last happy time I had with your parents
"He's gonna love this, finally get to see what the Doctor actually looks like"
"Thank you River, thank you"
"You're welcome, but ..."
"You have to go now"
"Yeah, sorry"
"It's fine, do you have any idea when you'll next come by?
"Anthony's first birthday, I wouldn't miss it for the world"
"We'll see you then, hopefully"
"Yes, hopefully, I love you mother, father"
"We love you to Melody, stay safe"
"I'll try"
Then River hugged her parents before stepping away, pressing buttons on her Vortex Manipulator and disappearing. Amy and Rory just stood there for a minute, looking at the spot where their daughter had been standing, when suddenly Anthony is heard crying from upstairs.
"Come along Mr Pond, let's go show our son pictures of his Uncle"
Rory smiled at what his wife had said before following her up the stairs to their son's room.
