Chapter 6: Symbol Of Freedom! Daedalus Bridge!

Blitz and the others are crossing a small, rickety wooden bridge, very carefully. "Oh... nyuh… Hey! Stop shaking!" Blitz says. "Why don't you walk faster!" Says Taka. "You're holding us up!" Nerve says. "Many people with markers are up ahead." Says Blitz. "Even Security doesn't dare enter this lawless area." Taka says. "It's like a district in Hell." Says Nerve. "I see. It's a perfect hideout for people with markers." Saiga says. "Oh…" Says Rally. He points. "Look over there." Rally says.

In the smoggy sunset, the Daedalus Bridge arcs into the distance.

"That's the Daedalus Bridge, the symbol of Satellite." Says Saiga. "It's also a dangerous area in Satellite named Barbaric Area After Damage. Also known as BAD." Taka says.

Crow's hideout is a shack or two in the shadow of several massive pipes and scaffolds. There is nobody and nothing there but Saiga, Rally, Nerve, Taka and Blitz. "No one's here." Says Rally. "Are you sure this is where we're supposed to meet?" Saiga asks. "Yeah, there's no mistake." Says Nerve. "Maybe Security captured Yusei and Crow!" Taka says. "You idiot! Don't say that! That's bad luck!" Says Nerve. Rally hears the sound of a D-Wheel engine and turns. "They're here!" Rally says.

Crow and Yusei come into sight around the corner.

"Hey, Yusei!" Says Rally, yelling.

Little kids suddenly pour out of a dozen hiding places, matching his excitement for Yusei, with excitement for Crow. Blitz watches, nonplussed, one with purple-brown hair and a red vest, and another with black hair and a light blue shirt, run past him. In addition to the nestlings, there are a few others that are different. "Welcome back!" "We were good!" "Where are our presents?"

Yusei and Crow stop, the latter takes off his helmet. "What's wrong with you? The moment you see me, you start asking for presents? I gave you presents this afternoon!" Crow says. "Don't be stingy!" "Give us some!" "Fine! I don't have presents, but I brought the new King. The hero of Satellite, Yusei Fudo!" Says Crow.

Yusei, just taking off his own helmet, gets blindsided. "Huh?" Yusei asks. "I know who you are! You beat Jack!" "Awesome! It's really him!" All the little kids crowd around Yusei, all talking at once. "It's the King!" "He's cool!" "Give me your autograph!" "C'mon kids, don't touch the King with your dirty hands. That's bad luck." Says Crow.

"Where were those kids hiding? Ugh, they have no shame!" Rally says. "Maybe I should get Yusei's autograph while I still can. Heehee, I might be able to sell it for a high price." Says Taka. Rally kicks his butt for that one, literally.

Night falls and the unfinished bridge arcs up toward the slim crescent moon in the sky.

Crow comes out from his barrack, carrying a few bottles of drinks.

"Awesome!" "How cool!"

"Hm?" Crow asks.

His nestlings are climbing on Yusei's D-Wheel like it's a jungle gym.

"You guys, don't break that D-Wheel." Says Crow.

"Yeah!" "We know!"

Crow sighs and walks over to a campfire that Yusei, Rally, Saiga, Blitz, Nerve and Taka are seated around. He stops and hands out the drinks. "Here." Crow says. Taka takes them from him. "Thanks." Says Taka. Crow then moves and seats himself between him and Yusei. "Is that a true story, Yusei?" Blitz asks. "Yeah, I saw it." Says Yusei.

Flashback to the scene of destruction and the glowing spider mark the Signers saw. "Satellite is destroyed in the future." Yusei says, in voice-over. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "You must be kidding." Says Nerve. "Does that mean Satellite is going to become the battlefield against the Dark Signers?" Taka asks. "Wait a second. Can you trust Godwin's story? He's the one who put that marker on your face, Yusei." Says Blitz. "I don't know if it's true. However…" Yusei says. He takes off his glove and rolls up his sleeve, baring his mark of the dragon that's burned into his flesh. "This and Stardust Dragon say that they're the enemies." Says Yusei. Crow takes a swig from the bottle. "Even if this place becomes the battlefield, I'll protect them." Crow says.

His nestlings are still playing on Yusei's D-Wheel.

Crow watches them, fondly. "I'm the only one who can protect them." Says Crow. He holds up a fist. "Yusei, I'll help you!" Crow says. Yusei looks startled.

The little girl, with the bright red ponytail and the light pink dress, runs up behind Crow and hugs him around the neck, knocking his headband down over his eyes. "Crow, tell me that story!" "That story again?" "You love that story." "So what? I like Crow's stories." Crow turns toward them, away from the fire.

All four nestlings have left the D-Wheel to hear the story. "All right, I'll tell you the story." Says Crow. "Yay!" Crow clears out his throat. "A long time ago, there was a small island that was very poor. The people who live on the island were not allowed to leave." Crow says. Nerve, Taka and Blitz grin, that's them. Yusei listens, quietly. "All they could do was look at their neighboring island, which was large and rich." Says Crow. One of the kids giggle and nods. "You're talking about City and Satellite." "This story isn't a long time ago." "Is that true?" "Sheesh, you have to be deliver with girls." Crow says. "Don't you mean delicate?" Asks Blitz. "Well, that's another way to say it." Crow says. The kids giggle. "That's right. This story is about City and Satellite. It's about a legendary man who tried to free Satellite." Says Crow. Rally and Saiga are listening, somberly. "Long before you were born, there was a man who always looked toward the City from this exact spot." Crow says.

The story sequence begins. As Crow speaks, a rendition of the tale in the sepia-tone of ancient photos and old movies. The legendary man is a strongly-muscled man on a red D-Wheel, his face mysteriously darkened. He stares across the sea at the waterfront, toward Neo Domino in the distance, astride his D-Wheel or by himself. "That man came here riding a D-Wheel that no one had seen before. Day after day, that man stood here and gazed at the City. But one day, he stopped doing that." Says Crow, in voice-over. "Why?" "That man discovered what he had to do." Crow says, in voice-over. He starts by hammering a single iron bar into the ground, raising his huge, boxlike hammer high over his head. "He discovered that he had to create the Daedalus Bridge in order to link with the City." Says Crow, in voice-over.

Fade back to the present, the eventual fruit of his labors, forlorn in the moonlight. "So that means this bridge didn't always exist." "But he didn't finish, right? That means it was pointless." "It was an impossible task." "That's what everyone thought at first. They made fun of him, calling him crazy. However, he never gave up." Crow says.

As he continues the story, people are standing on the shore looking at several strong, but haphazard-looking towers beginning to march across the water. The man is tying a crossbeam to a vertical one, ignoring the hecklers. "Even those that insulted him in the beginning began to think that he might succeed." Says Crow, in voice-over. A couple people on the shore look at each other and smile.

Next thing, a band of guys is pounding a piece of pipe into place, while a pair more carry an I-beam through. "Day after day, the only thing Satellite citizens did was recycle garbage from the City. They felt no hope until they saw the Daedalus Bridge as a bridge towards the future." Crow says, in voice-over.

The bridge begins to take shape over time, as work crews in boats or on rafts pass materials back and forth. "It became the bridge of hope." Says Crow, in voice-over.

A Security helicopter comes into view overhead. The workers look up, worried. "However, there were people who didn't think this was good. They stopped construction and Security came to arrest him." Crow says, in voice-over. As a gaggle of workers stands on the bridge, a pair of Security goons make broad arm gestures at them, directing the crowd off the bridge.

Soon, about thirty workers stand ringed by Security cars, D-Wheels and men. "Everyone gave up, realizing that it was impossible from the start. They would arrest the man and it would all be over." Says Crow, in voice-over.

Back to the present. "I'll never forgive Security!" Rally says. "Out of the way." "Be quiet!" Says Rally, yelling. The little girl looks a bit scared at getting yelled at by him, the little boy pats her on the head, consolingly. Rally turns back to Crow. "So what happened?" Rally asks, frustrated. "Uhh…" Says Crow.

As he returns to the story, a wheel on the road. Security is chasing the man on his D-Wheel through the streets. "Security cornered the man." Crow says, in voice-over. The man swerves around a corner and the line of Security cars, at least five, pursues. "He had two choices. Either be captured by Security and live in prison for the rest of his life… or live as a legend." Says Crow, in voice-over. Finally he stops, caution signs and beyond them the bridge at his back. Security surrounds him in a half-circle.

Standoff.

The workers watch anxiously from a distance, one of them gulps. The stranger revs his D-Wheel engine, the Security guys gasp. "The man chose to become a legend." Crow says, in voice-over. He donuts around and smashes through the barriers, racing for the bridge. He rides up the narrow bridge. The workers are watching, in shock, as are the Security goons. As he rides up the bridge, smaller wings than Crow's deploy from the sides of his D-Wheel. He rides off of the end of the bridge into open air, taking small chunks off of the end of the bridge. The workers can hardly believe their eyes, some don't dare to look, as he soars up into the sun and out of sight, vanishing. "Refusing to be tied down by logic or authority, he flew." Says Crow, in voice-over. The story sequence ends.

Back to the present. Blitz, Nerve, Taka and Saiga are staring into the fire, somberly. The latter glances over at Yusei, who's staring at it with equal gravity. "From that day on, the D-Wheel became the symbol of freedom… and that man became a legend." Crow says. "Then what happened? Was he okay?" Asks Rally. "No one knows what happened to him." Crow says. "Ohh…" Says Rally. "However… At the very least…" Crow says. "He lives in here!" Says Crow and the little kids, in perfect unison. The little kids all laugh and jump around. "Nice!" "We also heard this story often when we were kids." Taka says. "Yeah, but I forgot about it." Says Nerve. "So that's why there are wings on your D-Wheel, Crow." Rally says. "Be quiet! I can do what I like! Storytime is over. Time for bed, kids." Says Crow. "Go to sleep!" Rally says. "Good night, Crow." "You should go to bed, too!" "Be quiet!" Says Rally, yelling. The little kids giggle and scatter. "Good night!"

"A man wanted to free Satellite and became a legend. I'm surprised there was someone like that in Satellite. Yusei, that makes me think… Your mark symbolizes that you're carrying on his spirit." Saiga says. Rally and Crow look at him, with surprise, as do Nerve, Taka and Blitz. Yusei bows his head. "I'm not like that." Says Yusei. Crow raises an eyebrow. "Huh?" Crow asks. "It's late. We should also go to bed." Says Yusei. "You're right." Blitz says. "Let's go to sleep." Says Taka. "Good night." Nerve says. "Good night, Yusei." Says Rally.

A sinister-looking spider is sitting on the side of a nearby building, unobserved.

A full screen of some TV news in Neo Domino. "This is today's news. A portion of the ancient Nazca lines suddenly vanished before tourists' eyes. Here's an eyewitness account."

The eyewitnesses are a pair of whacked-out hippie tourists. The guy who speaks first has long black hair and a red t-shirt, he points to the camera around his neck as he speaks. The other eyewitness is a girl, with a giant brown afro. "I was totally surprised."

Flashback. A small plane flies above the spider Nazca symbol and it glows purple, then vanishes. "My wife and I were looking at the drawing on the ground from an airplane. All of a sudden, it started glowing! As I watched in shock, it vanished! Then I said out loud…" The two tourists are watching from the window of the plane, amazed. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "The Nazca lines are history!" "Waaaahh-hah-hah-hah-hah!"

"We've confirmed that pictures of a spider, giant and hummingbird have vanished. However, there are reports that other pictures have also disappeared."

Godwin's watching this news report. "When the gates to the underworld open, those who'll lead the world into darkness will arrive. The Dark Signers have started to make their move." Godwin thinks to himself.

In Carly's apartment, Jack's also watching the report. Jace is sitting next to him on the couch, playing with his stuffed Archfiend. "No one knows how gigantic pictures can suddenly vanish. It will take time to unravel this mystery scientifically."

"Jack, that picture was also on Ushio's arm." Carly says.

Flashback. Ushio approaches them in the hallway at the hospital, definitely not himself. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. Jack continues to watch the report.

Meanwhile, Sakura is standing in the shower, lost in thought, as the water runs down her body. For someone who had twins and then a third kid ten months apart from each other just over a year ago, she has no trace of stretch marks or any baby fat. Sakura actually does have a rather curvaceous body, none of her scars seem to have disturbed this fact, her markings, signs and designs, on the other hand, seem to have all contrasted well along her curves and with her slightly pale complexion. Every sign and scar that mark up her body is visible. Aside from the scars that reside on Sakura's arms and hands, she has multiple scars along almost every inch of her body. She has one just above her left breast, in the shape of a crescent moon, one on the lower-right side of her torso, a few inches below her right breast, an X-shaped one, just above her left hip, a shallow, dot-shaped one, just above and a few inches to the side of her right hip, which looks to be from a bullet wound, a long, jagged one that seems to encircle diagonally across her abdomen, just below her navel, and all the way through to her lower back, just above the hip bones, one that cuts diagonally across her shoulder-blades, one that encircles diagonally across her right thigh, one that encircles diagonally across her left thigh, just above her knee, one that runs horizontally around the center of her left calf and shin, one that cuts along her right achilles and ankle, one that encircles between the bridge and sole of her left foot, and one that loops around the ball and above her right foot, just above the toes. Altogether, including the sixteen scars along her arms and hands, Sakura has a total of twenty-eight scars along her entire body. Every scar that marks up her body, excluding the X-shaped one, just above her left hip, and the one just above her left breast, in the shape of a crescent moon, which the former is from when she got stabbed while protecting Lua and Luca when they first met, and was most likely only butterfly stitched, while the latter could easily be mistaken for a birthmark rather than a scar, look as if they were done through surgical means, due to how prominent they appear along her body. However, each of them do appear to have healed rather nicely, regardless through what means she had received them or however long Sakura has had them for. She soon finishes and shuts the water off. Sakura steps out of the shower and wraps a towel around herself, walking over to the sink and leaning over it, she's still trying to gather her thoughts.

Meanwhile, inside the huge crater that was the original Moment. A spider web shoots across the room with the spire and through a doorway. The spider lands on the back of the red-trim robed Dark Signer's hand. "Hmm. The first one has arrived. Yusei Fudo. Much time has passed. In order to atone for that disgraceful battle five thousand years ago, you'll become our first sacrifice." The Dark Signer with the blue-trimmed robe stands, a different shadowy mark glowing on his arm. "He's my prey." The red-trim robed Dark Signer smiles, grimly. "Hm. Fine." The blue-trim robed Dark Signer smiles in reply, his eyes hidden. "Heh."

As if sensing something, Sakura looks up and wipes the steam from the mirror with her hand, only seeing her reflection. She breathes a sigh of relief and looks away from the mirror for a few seconds. As soon as Sakura looks back into it, the Dark Signer with the blue-trimmed robe is looking back at her, his smirk giving the impression that he has ill-intentions. "Once I'm done with your brother, you're all mine. Hehehehehe!" Sakura suddenly smashes the mirror, shattering it into pieces.

Grim, who's been lying outside the bathroom door, suddenly wakes up and barks, viciously, sounding the alarm.

Jack looks over his shoulder and stands up from the couch.

Carly lifts herself up from her chair. "What's going on?" Asks Carly.

"Something's wrong." Jack says. He makes his way over to the bathroom door, Grim getting up and out of his way, and knocks on it. "Sakura?" Asks Jack. No answer. He reaches for the door knob. "I'm coming in, okay?" Jack asks. He opens the door and walks in.

The mirror is completely shattered, with most of the shards piled into the sink, which have some blood smeared on the edges. Jack looks around and finds Sakura huddled on the floor near the shower, keeping herself propped up with one arm, while clutching the other one close to herself, with her head bowed, her hair and bangs hiding her eyes from view. He hurries over to her and kneels down beside her. "Sakura? Are you okay?" Asks Jack. He reaches for her, only for Sakura to turn a shard on him, prepared to stab him with it, which catches him off-guard. Jack grips at her wrist, gently yet firmly. "Sakura, it's me." Jack says, calmly. Sakura soon comes to her senses. "Jack…?" Asks Sakura, softly. She lowers her gaze from Jack's and drops the shard. "I'm… sorry." Sakura says.

Carly peeks in from the door. "What happened?" Asks Carly.

"I'm sorry about your mirror. I shall pay for a replacement." Sakura says.

Carly steps a bit further into the room. "Oh, no. I'm not worried about the mirror. I'm just worried if your okay." Says Carly.

Sakura looks up at her, almost in a state of shock. "I…" Sakura says.

"Oh, your bleeding." Says Carly.

Sakura looks down, she has a deep gash in her right forearm to her wrist. "Oh, it really isn't that bad." Sakura says.

"I'll get a med kit." Says Carly. She turns and runs off.

As soon as she's gone, Sakura lowers her head. "Jack, I…" Sakura says, softly. Before she can finish, Jack suddenly pulls her into his arms, hugging her close to himself. "Don't apologize." Says Jack. Sakura grips at his shirt, gingerly, while he just continues to hold her to his chest.

At the campfire near the bridge, six people are in sleeping bags around the still-smoldering fire. Taka and Nerve are snoring.

Yusei sits up. He looks back at his sleeping friends and then starts to walk his D-Wheel away, clearly planning to slip away in the night.

"I knew it. You were planning to leave all alone." Crow says.

"Crow." Says Yusei.

"It's not nice to leave without telling us." Crow says.

"This is my fight. This has nothing to do with you." Says Yusei.

"Oh? You never change." Crow says.

"I don't want to draw you into this battle." Says Yusei.

"Huh?" Crow asks. He runs over and stands in front of Yusei's D-Wheel before he can walk it further. "Wait! Are you saying that I won't be of any help?" Asks Crow. "You don't understand. You risk your life in a battle against the Dark Signers. It's different than a Riding Duel where all you care about is excitement." Yusei says.

Flashback. Yusei takes an attack from the drone's Frozen Fitzgerald and goes flying backward, hitting the wall of the fiery arena hard before falling to the ground on his face. "When you duel them, the battle takes away your life. You're actually risking your soul in battle." Says Yusei, in voice-over. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "In the end, you may die." Yusei says, intensely. "Since you're always serious, I know that you're telling the truth. A trait that you tend to share with Sakura, by the way. However, I vowed to risk my life to protect the kids!" Says Crow. "So you feel the same as me and her." Yusei says, deadly serious. Crow nods. "Hm." Says Crow. Yusei has a small smile. "If you're coming, you know the risks." Yusei says. "Heh! Don't underestimate me. I'll be your guide!" Says Crow. They bump fists.

Soon they're riding down a street somewhere in the Satellite. "The former Moment? That's in the deepest part of BAD!" Crow says.

"I know. That's where they are!" Says Yusei.

"You're striking straight into their heart. Sounds like fun! This way, Yusei!" Crow says. He zooms ahead and banks around a corner.

Back at the campsite. "Yusei's missing!" Says Rally, yelling. "Crow's D-Wheel is also missing." Nerve says. "They left?" Asks Taka. "Let's look for them!" Rally says, fearfully. "Okay!" Says Blitz. He turns back to Saiga, who's sitting at the campfire, surrounded by anxious little kids. "Saiga, you stay here in case they return!" Blitz says.

Saiga gives a casual salute.

"We'll split up and look for them." Says Blitz.

"Is Crow gone?" "Don't worry. He'll come back soon." Saiga says.

Wherever Yusei and Crow are, there's a lot of debris. There's a spider keeping an eye on them in the shadows.

"The fog rolled in." Says Crow.

Yusei's looking around, cautiously.

The Dark Signer with the blue-trimmed robe watches them from afar and raises his right arm, his mark visible. "Come, Yusei." His sign begins to glow purple.

Ahead of Yusei and Crow, a massive form made of purplish light begins to appear in the fog.

"Ah! What's that?" Crow asks.

Yusei's arm has started to glow, too.

"That's right. The war between the Signers and Dark Signers begins now!"

Sakura suddenly starts awake, lying on a wide sofa. She sits up and clutches her glowing arm. All the symbolic designs and additional markings along Sakura's body start glowing, slowly. "Brother." Says Sakura, softly.

Grim wakes up and lifts up his head, looking up at her.

Jack wakes up, too, lying on a couch in the same room as her. He sits up and holds his brilliantly-glowing arm, too. "What's this?" Jack asks.

Jace, who was lying asleep next to him, wakes up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

At Saiga's hideout. Luca stirs in her sleep, her arm already bright.

Lua sits up, groaning. "What? Huwah!" Asks Lua.

Subaru, who was sleeping, sits up.

By then, Luca's sitting up, cradling her arm. Velvet is already awake, sitting up beside her, hugging her stuffed wolf close to herself. "Luca, what's going on?" Lua asks. "Yusei…" Luca thinks to herself.

Somewhere on a balcony in the City. Aki is also holding her arm as it glows through her nightgown sleeve. "I can sense it. Yusei, I know you're fighting. The vision that Crimson Dragon showed us…" Aki thinks to herself.

Flashback to the vision of the fiery spider, briefly. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "Is something starting?" Aki thinks to herself.

Jack places a hand on his glowing arm. "Exactly what?" Jack thinks to himself. Jace is wide awake, his eyes focused on his dad's glowing sign, hugging his stuffed Red Dragon Archfiend close to himself.

Sakura clutches at her glowing arm, all of her markings are glowing, brightly. "Yusei, what is happening to you?" Sakura thinks to herself. Grim sits up, while still looking up at her, he can sense her distress.

The phone rings. Jack reacts.

Carly, curled up with a lumpy pillow, wakes up and answers it. "Huh? Yeah, yeah." Says Carly. She picks it up. "It's the middle of the night!" Carly says. "Can I talk to Master Atlas?" Asks Minako, via-phone, tetchy.

Jack takes the phone from Carly. "It's me. What do you want?" Jack asks. "The director ordered me to take you and Sakura to Yusei Fudo immediately. Please, open the window." Says Minako, via-phone. "The window?" Jack asks.

Carly shoves the curtains apart and a Security helicopter rises into view. "Ah! What's up with this?" Asks Carly.

Minako is in the passenger seat, the phone to her ear, looking at them. The pilot is some Security goon. "I came to pick you up." Minako says, via-phone.

A little while later, in the helicopter. "Hey, what's going on?" Asks Carly. "Yusei is battling against a Dark Signer." Sakura says. "A Dark Signer? How do you know that? What's your relationship with Yusei?" Asks Carly. "Well…" Sakura says. "That's none of your business." Says Jack.

"Why?" Minako asks. She then turns to Carly. "Why are you also onboard?" Asks Minako, impatiently.

Carly leans forward, getting up nose-to-nose with her. "What's your problem! You came in the middle of the night and interrupted my sleep! The least you could do is let me tag along!" Carly says.

"Non-essential personnel are forbidden! What exactly is your relationship with Master Atlas?" Asks Minako.

Carly blushes. "Well, I'm Jack's so-and-so and we live together, so we're so-and-so…" Carly says.

"Ugh! That's enough. Just stop talking!" Says Minako.

"C'mon, listen to me." Carly says.

"Anyway, I apologize for rudely visiting so late at night, King." Says Minako.

Jack notices that and is none too happy about it. "I'm not the King!" Jack says.

"I'm sorry, Master Atlas!" Says Minako.

"He's still aggravating as always. Wait a second. The best way to handle Jack is…" Carly thinks to herself. "When you think about it, Yusei shouldn't be the King. It isn't right for a no-name Satellite D-Wheeler to become the King." Carly says, casually. She doesn't notice that Jack's getting angry, not cheering up. Sakura's not looking to happy herself, since Carly's basically talking about her brother. Jace is sitting between his parents, with his toy next to him, he's still very much sleepy. Grim, who's sitting on the floor of the helicopter between Jack and Sakura, looks up at the latter, he can sense that she's upset. "Furthermore, he has a marker. How can someone like that become the new King?" Asks Carly. "You don't know anything about Yusei!" Jack says, snapping. "Hee, I hooked him!" Carly thinks to herself. "He wasn't born in Satellite. Not only was he from the City, but he was born in the Tops!" Says Jack. "Really?" Carly asks. "Sakura was, too." Says Jack. "Jack, no one knows who I am without that mask." Sakura says. "Hm? Are you someone important, Sakura?" Asks Carly. "No, not at all." Sakura says. "You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking." Says Jack. "Jack…" Sakura says. "Mask or no mask, you're one of the most skillful duelists I've ever met. No one can even hold a candle to you, Sakura." Says Jack. "Wow, you must really be something for you to get such high praise from someone like Jack. So, who are you?" Carly asks. Sakura sighs. A sphere of shadow suddenly manifests before her and soon materializes into the signature mask that she once wore throughout her time as Sakiko Kuro. The moment Carly sees it, she gasps, in shock and realization. "That mask, it's unmistakable. You mean to tell me, that you're the Princess of Darkness, Sakiko Kuro?" Asks Carly. Sakura looks down at the mask, holding it in her lap. "All this mask stood for… was a lie. A thing of the past." Sakura says. The mask suddenly starts fading away into specks of shadow, like smoldering embers, until it finally disappears into nothing. "My name is Sakura Kuraitaiyou, that is who I truly am." "What no one knows is that she's also related to Yusei." Says Jack, subtly. "What, really?" Carly asks. "Yes, he's my younger half-twin brother." Says Sakura. "What's a half-twin?" Carly asks. "Well, Yusei and I are maternal half-siblings, as well as fraternal twins. Him and I don't know all the facts ourselves. However, it is all in our birth records." Says Sakura. Jace suddenly lolls over into her and curls up, falling asleep. Sakura, surprised at first, but then just brushes at his hair, lightly. "She's also Jace's mother." Jack says. Carly gasps, in shock. "You mean, you and her had relations?" Asks Carly. "Yeah." Jack says. "I guess, you could say we had a one-night stand." Says Sakura. Carly's blushing, she's obviously thinking of these two well-known duelists sleeping together. Grim then places his head in Sakura's lap and she strokes his head, petting him, lightly.

As Jack speaks, visuals. Spiral down from the top of the tallest building in Neo Domino, with the KC logo on top. "Their parents were researchers at MIDS, KaibaCorp's Moment Development Network.."

As he speaks, again a glimpse of the old Moment Reactor that eventually created the Satellite. "They created the foundation of current Moment techniques."

"Wow! I learned something incredible!" Carly thinks to herself. "But since they were sent to Satellite, does that mean they did something bad?" Carly asks. "I'm sitting right here, you know." Says Sakura, calmly. "Oops, sorry." Carly says. They fly past a huge billboard of Misty Lola on the side of a building. "I know you've heard of Zero Reverse." Says Jack.

"Master Atlas, you're not allowed to talk about that." Minako says.

"If I remember correctly, it's an event that altered the landscape seventeen years ago." Says Carly. "That's right. City and Satellite were once connected, but that event separated them into two, and that's how it's been to this day." Jack says. "There's a link between Zero Reverse, Yusei Fudo and Sakura?" Asks Carly.

"It wasn't a natural disaster. It was an accident." Minako says, sadly.

"Awaagh! C'mon now. That's not what it says in the textbooks." Says Carly.

Flashback. The light of the out-of-control Moment turns the sky above it a blazing shade of speed-world-fuchsia. When the Satellite split into pieces, that intense light glowed from the deepest chasms of cracks it formed. "The current Moment's predecessor went out of control, causing the accident. The developers responsible were Sakura Kuraitaiyou and Yusei Fudo's parents." Minako says, in voice-over. "It was an accident? That means, everyone in the world was told a lie!" Says Carly, in voice-over. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "MIDS completely covered up the truth. Besides, a natural disaster was more believable than human-created powers." Minako says.

"Sakura and Yusei's parents lost their lives in the accident. Their respective dad's, anyway. Their mom went on to live for five more years after the accident, until she finally lost her life, supposedly losing her will to live not long after giving birth to another baby. Sakura and Yusei, who were only two months old, were sent to an orphanage." Says Jack. "Oh. If this story is true, then it's a huge scoop!" Carly says. "Hmph! Go ahead and write the story, but no one will believe you." Says Jack.

"MIDS completely controls the information regarding this incident. People believing you is the least of your concerns. They'll most likely send you to Satellite." Minako says, sarcastically.

Carly laughs, nervously, feeling her veiled hostility. "I know." Says Carly. "Safe… My life was about to come to an end." Carly thinks to herself. They keep flying into the distance.

In the foggy dump somewhere in the Satellite. "He's here." The blue-trim robed Dark Signer lowers his arm.

The big shadowy figure Yusei and Crow were driving toward disappears.

"What was that?" Crow asks.

"Be careful! A Dark Signer is nearby." Says Yusei.

"What?" Crow asks.

Suddenly, a thrown card clips his shoulder, if he hadn't dodged, it would've done worse. Crow spins out and falls to the ground.

Yusei stops, immediately. "Are you okay, Crow?" Asks Yusei.

Crow sits up, looking at the hairline cut on his shoulder. "Huha! Yeah." Crow says.

Yusei looks around and spots the card that was thrown, lodged in a wooden board. "Vorse Raider?" Asks Yusei.

"Yusei."

"Huh?" Yusei asks. He turns.

A hooded figure astride a D-Wheel is just visible on top of the tallest heap of trash around. "And Crow is with you. Ahuhahahahahahahah! You don't know how long I've been waiting for this moment."

Crow, back on his D-Wheel, is starting to get angry. "What?" Asks Crow.

"How do you know our names?" Yusei asks.

"Heh. So, you've forgotten about me." He whips off his hood and throws it away.

Yusei and Crow gasp, in alarm.

His face is seen for the first time, chartreuse eyes, with dark scleras, light blue, shoulder-length hair, and fair skin. On the right side of his face from his hairline to his jaw runs a mark, too dark to be a criminal marking. He's wearing a black, short-sleeved jacket, lined with his accent color of blue, over a red shirt, considerably short and reveals his midriff. He also wears a silverish-white belt, black jeans, black chaps, lined with his accent color of blue, and black boots. Finishing his outfit, he wears two-toned, fingerless gloves of black and blue. He appears to be the same age as Jack, nineteen. He's 6'0" and 149 lbs. His laugh and demeanor suggest that he's slightly unhinged.

"No way! Kiryu?" Asks Yusei.

"You're alive, Kyosuke Kiryu?" Crow asks.

"Yusei, thanks to you, I've seen hell. I'll get my revenge until you can't stand it anymore!" Says Kiryu.

"I don't know what you mean by hell, but this has to be a misunderstanding!" Crow says.

"You're a Dark Signer? You're going to destroy Satellite?" Asks Yusei.

"Find out how different I am than the person you used to know!" Kiryu says. He jams a helmet onto his head and rides his D-Wheel off of the edge of the cliff, jumping over Yusei and Crow to land behind them. As he soars, purple fire erupts from the ground in Kiryu's wake, shocking them.

They wince, as it carves out line after line in the ground and the fiery lines are reflected in the storm clouds above, forming an image on the ground that he and Yusei are standing inside, that matches the one on his arm.

Kiryu goes into a sideways skid and halts. "Let's settle our destinies here! This is the field where Signers and Dark Signers battle! You sent me to hell! So, I'll torture your precious sister right in front of you and destroy your home! She'll be all mine and Satellite will burn!" Says Kiryu.

"What?" Crow asks.

"Huh? What's this?" Asks Yusei.

Meanwhile, Carly gasps looking out the window, Jack and Sakura follow her gaze, seeing the phenomenon that just appeared. "Huh?" Carly asks. "Hm. What's that?" Asks Jack. Then out of nowhere, Sakura starts feeling some sort of pain not even her marks have given her. A very painful burning sensation as if her arm is on fire. Sakura's clenching at almost her whole left arm. Grim looks up at her and barks, sensing her pain. "What is it?" Jack asks, concerned. "My arm, it feels like its burning." Says Sakura.

"Duel! Ahahahahahahahah! Ah!" Kiryu says. He screams at something that's hurting him, too. Kiryu reaches for his shoulder, feeling the same type of burning sensation as Sakura did. "I guess that means she's near, too. Although, she won't be able to save you this time. Ahahahahahahahahah!" Says Kiryu. His disturbing laugh echoes across the landscape, which has just been turned into a dueling track carved out by lines of purple fire, forming a mark just like the fiery spider, but a different creature.
