Chapter 10: Courage And Power Dock Together! Synchro Summon! Power Tool Dragon!
Jets of fire shoot from smokestacks all over the Satellite in the dim early morning beneath a crescent moon.
Yusei's smashed and dented D-Wheel is tied up outside Martha's house.
She and the doctor are continuing to work on him, while he continues to fight the pain and he's still holding onto Sakura's hand for comfort. Grim's seated at her side. The doctor just finished removing a large piece of the shard from Yusei's abdomen, placing it in a dish that Martha holds, which has a few smaller pieces of the shard in it.
Rally, Crow, Saiga, Nerve, Taka and Blitz are waiting, solemnly. "Yusei… Huh?" Rally asks.
Martha and the doctor open the door. Crow jumps up and everyone else is just a moment behind. "Huh! Dr. Schmidt, how's Yusei?" Asks Crow. "He's very lucky." Martha says. "There are no injuries to his internal organs or blood vessels. Once his wounds heal, he'll be fine." Says Dr. Schmidt. Sighs of relief. "Really?" Rally asks. "Thank goodness." Says Blitz. "How dare Yusei make us worry!" Crow says.
"He was very fortunate, this time." Says Sakura, as she walks out from the door Martha and Dr. Schmidt came out of, with Grim following alongside her.
Crow looks at her, surprised. "What are you talking about, Sakura?" Crow asks. He walks up to Sakura, confronting her, but she isn't bothered by his 5'8" height compared to her own height of 5'4". "Aren't you glad that he's going to be okay? I mean, he's your brother…" Says Crow. "That's just it, Crow. He managed to survive this encounter." Sakura says. "Huh?" Asks Crow and the other four. "Kyosuke wants Yusei dead, that much is obvious. However, he wants him to suffer as much pain and turmoil as he can endure. It shouldn't be this way. Kyosuke is the last person Yusei needed as an enemy. It would have been better off if Yusei never discovered the truth about the Crimson Dragon and the Signers. About me. Team Satisfaction broke up because I got involved. Kyosuke's true intentions is not only to get rid of Yusei, but he wants to hurt both of us in the process." Sakura says. "Sakura, you know Yusei wouldn't like you talking like that about yourself. He never blamed you for Team Satisfaction breaking up. Neither did I, and neither did Jack. Kiryu hurt you. That was his own fault and not to mention a serious offense. You were just lucky to survive through what he did." Says Crow. Sakura isn't happy with him right now, her hands have been on her hips for sometime. She is glaring at Crow. Grim makes a low growl at him. "I have gone through more than you can even fathom. The scars that mark my flesh may no longer hurt and have all healed, however, the pain that caused them is unforgettable." Sakura says. She then walks away towards the door to outside, with Grim at her heels.
"Wait Sakura, where are you going?" Asks Crow.
Sakura stops just sort of the door and turns back to face him, with Grim halting at her side. "Back to the City." Sakura says.
"What, but how? Jack took off with the helicopter, how do you expect to get back to the City?" Asks Crow.
"The same way I got out of the helicopter, my Signer powers." Sakura says.
"Wait Sakura, you're a Signer, too?" Asks Crow.
"Yes, Crow. Which is why I have to go back to the City. I have to get back to them, the other three Signers." Sakura says.
Martha walks over to her, running her fingers along the marking under her left eye and face, and traces the sigil on her forehead, lightly. "You've been through a lot these past two years. Haven't you, my little one?" Asks Martha. "More or less." Sakura says. "I still remember the day you first came to this house, along with Yusei. You and him were only two months old. Your scars don't matter and neither do these markings, you're a very lovely young woman. And look at the length of your hair." Says Martha. She goes to the back of Sakura, moving her fingers through the waves of her raven black, red gradated hair. "I'm impressed that you've let it grow this long. And I see you stuck with your hairstyle, too." Martha says. "Yes, well a…" Says Sakura. "Your hair length and hairstyle definitely suit you, they fit your personality." Martha says. "My personality, Martha?" Asks Sakura. "Yes, your personality of being mysterious." Martha says. She then releases Sakura's hair, letting it fall back into place. "But your eyes always intrigued me, I could never figure you out with those eyes of yours. Yusei could always figure it out, as well as Jack and Crow could. I never could." Says Martha. "Martha…" Sakura says. "I know that you probably won't believe me, but you and Jack belong together. Look, I know you and him had a falling out the last time, but believe me when I say that I think destiny wants you two together." Says Martha. Sakura looks down at her right forearm, her sign hidden by her glove and coat sleeve. "Destiny." Sakura thinks to herself. Martha places one of her hands on that arm, causing her to bring her attention back up to her.
"Martha…"
Martha turns at the sound of her name.
Standing on the stairs is a petite, young girl, with a pale complexion, short, neck-length, black hair, and violet eyes. She is twelve and 4'10". She's wearing pajamas, which are a matching black, long-sleeved shirt and pants, with faded-purple polka dots, and a white lining at the front and the collar. She's holding a stuffed bunny and rubbing at one of her eyes, sleepily. Standing at her side is a white, nine-tailed fox, with mystical blue eyes and transparent, blue flames flaring around its paws and tail tips. The fox has a very divine, almost ghostly appearance to it and is similar in size to Grim. "I got a little thirs..." She stops rubbing at her eye and blinks, a couple times.
Martha smiles, as she's still standing next to Sakura.
The young girl's eyes are wide, in surprise.
Sakura steps up a bit.
The young girl takes a step back and tears are starting to form in her eyes.
"Hotaru, it's okay." Martha says, tenderly.
Hotaru has tears shedding down her cheeks. "I-I can't... I'm sorry..." Says Hotaru, through tears. She turns back and runs up the stairs, in tears.
The fox walks down the stairs and towards Sakura, stopping when it's standing before her. "Hello, Aurora." Sakura says. Aurora sits down, looking up at her. Sakura reaches her hand out towards her and strokes her head, petting her, making her ears twitch, cutely. "Still following the orders I gave you, I see. Well done, Aurora." Says Sakura. "She looks after Hotaru and protects her very well." Martha says. Sakura stops petting Aurora and Grim steps up, sitting himself next to her, nuzzling his muzzle into her mane. She returns his nuzzles, these two haven't seen each other in a long time. Martha smiles. "Looks like they've missed each other." Says Martha. "Hotaru still takes what I said to her to heart, doesn't she?" Sakura asks. "You can't blame yourself, Sakura. You weren't exactly yourself during your recovery and quite frankly you weren't the most nicest person during it or after you were finished recovering. You were going through a lot of things at the time and Hotaru didn't understand why you said the things you said to her. So, she thought you truly meant what you said and it hurt her." Says Martha. "That was the last thing I said to her before Jack took me to the City and she's been holding on to that for the past two years." Sakura says. "What truly hurt Hotaru the most was when you were gone and she didn't know if you were ever going to come back. And after you went missing, Yusei wasn't around much." Says Martha. "So, Hotaru felt alone for the past two years. I was taken by Jack to the City, without the chance to explain why I was being cold towards her, while Yusei was working on a new D-Wheel in order to get to the City and find me." Sakura says. "She'll come around. Yusei will be here recovering. So, she'll have him at least." Says Martha. "And what of her health? Has she gotten any better?" Sakura asks. "I'm afraid not. She's still rather ill and frail, and she's more or less bedridden on a daily basis. Dr. Schmidt's still baffled as to what ails her." Says Martha. Sakura sighs, softly. "Perhaps, it is best that I return to the City. She shall have Yusei as he recovers." Sakura says. "I know you have to go back to the City, but please be careful this time. For me at least, and for both Yusei and Hotaru's sake, too. At least, now I know that your going on your own and not being forced to." Says Martha. "Thank you, Martha. For everything. Please, watch over Yusei and Hotaru for me." Sakura says. "Always, my little one." Says Martha. Grim barks. Martha looks down at him and pets him, stroking his head. "You take care of her, Grim." Martha says. "He always has." Says Sakura. She then looks down at Aurora. "Keep looking after Hotaru for me, Aurora." Sakura says. Aurora stands up and nuzzles her face into Sakura's hand, to which she pets her a bit. She and Grim then nuzzle each other, and the former heads off and up the stairs.
He whines a bit and Sakura strokes his head, lightly. "Sorry, boy. I know, I miss having her around, as well." Says Sakura. She then brings her attention back to Crow. "And as for you, my friend. Please, don't engage the Dark Signers. I don't need to lose you to them." Sakura says.
"Don't worry, Sakura. I won't." Says Crow. He walks over to Sakura. They then hug each other, both one arm around the other. "You'll always be my best friend." Crow says. "And you mine." Says Sakura. They release each other, now standing some what next to each other. "Hey Saiga, look after these guys for me once more, will you?" Sakura asks.
"No problems there, kid." Says Saiga.
"Bye, guys." Sakura says. She then summons forth one of her portals and steps into it, with Grim following at her side. The portal soon closes up behind Sakura, along with him, as she heads in and she's gone, just like that.
Crow's bemused at what just happened.
The other four are not so enthusiastic about it, then Rally sneezes, the other three just a breath behind. "What's wrong?" Asks Crow. "I think I have a fever." Rally says. "Huh?" Asks Crow.
Nerve, Taka and Blitz huddle together, shivering in their borrowed blankets.
"What? Pull yourself together!" Martha says.
At the twins' apartment in the Tops. Himuro puts down a couple suitcases. "Heheh! What an incredible house!" Says Yanagi. "You said that your parents are away?" Himuro asks. "Yeah. Papa and mama have to fly all over the world, so they rarely come home. That's why Sakura is in charge of us, she was asked by our parents if she would be our caretaker while they're away." Says Luca. "That, and the fact that Sakura has twins of her own." Lua says. "Yeah, mama sympathized with Sakura because of that fact. She and papa also felt grateful to her for helping us when we first met her." Says Luca. "Our house is your house. We have a lot of free rooms." Lua says. Luca and Velvet walk off.
Lua beckons Himuro closer. "Luca is physically weak, so she doesn't like going out." Lua says.
Luca and Velvet sit on the couch.
"I can't leave her all alone, so I can't get out either. It got a little better when Sakura started taking care of us, so then I had Subaru to hang out with and Luca had Velvet to keep her company. But, I was getting bored." Says Lua. "I see." Himuro says.
"Himuro, there's a clear view of the City from here." Says Yanagi.
"We might be able to receive a transmission from Saiga in Satellite." Himuro says. He pulls a laptop out of one of the bags and looks at it.
Lua and Subaru look over Himuro's shoulders. "If what Luca sensed was real, does that mean Yusei has already started to battle against the Dark Signers?" Asks Lua, anxiously. "Our outgoing transmissions are unstable, so we have to wait until they contact us." Himuro says. "Did Yusei win?" Asks Lua. "I don't know, but he's not the type who would lose easily." Himuro says. "You're right." Says Lua.
He leaves Himuro's side to jump up and sit on the arm of the couch. "Isn't there anything I can do to help?" Lua asks, boisterously cheering.
Subaru walks over and leans back on the edge of the couch, standing next to him. Lua then turns to Luca. "Hey, about Luca's dream…" Says Lua.
Flashback. The Crimson Dragon bells, leading the six Signer dragons into battle. They balk at a wall that shimmers pink, beyond which lurks the Army of Shadows. "The story about the Crimson Dragon who battled against the evil gods?" Himuro asks, in voice-over. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "Yeah." Says Lua.
"Maybe the power of the Signers showed the ancient battle to Luca." Yanagi says.
"Hmmm..." Says Luca. She sighs.
"Don't look so glum, Luca. You look prettier when your smiling." Sakura says.
Luca, Velvet, Lua and Subaru look up, seeing her in the doorway, with Grim standing at her side. Velvet smiles. "Mommy!" Says Velvet. She runs over to Sakura and hugs her around the waist. She just holds Velvet close to herself. "Yay, Mommy's back!" Velvet says, happily.
Luca watches as this mother-daughter scene plays out, looking a little saddened by it, but she also seems a little bit more relieved that Sakura's back.
She looks over at her, as if she can sense that there's something upsetting her.
Luca looks down, contemplatively. Lua watches her with concern, then looks at his deck and draws Power Tool Dragon off of the top. "Ohh, is it true that Power Tool Dragon appeared in your dream?" Asks Leo.
Flashback. Luca recalls the sixth Signer dragon, its somewhat crusty-looking skin was golden orange, with darker orange eyes. It breathed pure fire. "Well, it did look similar." Luca says, in voice-over. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "But, it doesn't matter." Says Luca, disarmingly. "It does matter! Since I have that Dragon card, it could mean that I'm the final Signer!" Lua says. He's dancing. "I hope that mark appears on me soon!" Says Lua. He keeps raving in the background.
Himuro, Yanagi and Sakura speak aside to Luca. "Is that true?" Himuro asks, aside. "There's no way a robot dragon would appear in an ancient ritual." Says Luca, aside, exasperated. "That's true." Yanagi says, aside.
"Maybe it's on my left arm!" Says Lua.
"I only said that to cheer Lua up." Luca says, aside. Himuro and Yanagi groan along with her.
"Unless of course, Sakura wants to give up some of her markings?" Asks Lua.
"Not going to happen, Lua." Sakura says. "Besides, how would you even handle the position as the Crimson Dragon's Host? Being responsible isn't exactly your strong suit." Says Luca.
"Hey, it was worth a shot." Lua says.
"Not good enough. I wouldn't trust you with a secret if it could save your life." Says Sakura.
"Oh yeah! Since I'm the sixth Signer, I have to be more responsible! No matter what happens, I have to protect Luca! Leave everything to me!" Lua says.
Beat.
The others respond with more of a whimper.
"Since the Crimson Dragon battles against the evil gods, does that mean that the Signers are a team?" Asks Lua. "Yes. Sonny, Jack, Luca and Aki. And Sakura is basically the leader, considering she's the Crimson Dragon's host body." Yanagi says. "And me!" Says Lua. "That's right." Yanagi says. "That can't be right. If Aki Izayoi is part of the team, that means Arcadia Movement is also part of the team." Says Himuro. "What's Arcadia Movement?" Lua asks. "I don't hear good things about them." Says Himuro. "It is rumored that they gather psychic duelists and do mysterious experiments." Sakura says. "Psychic duelists?" Asks Lua. "I heard that there are duelists with special abilities." Yanagi says. "Why is Aki there?" Asks Luca. "Who knows. She must have a reason." Himuro says. "Let's ask Aki to cooperate with us!" Says Lua. "What?" Himuro asks. "It's only a rumor that they're doing mysterious things. There's no reason to accuse them yet." Says Lua. "That's true, but…" Himuro says. "Come to think of it, you're right. We adults are too suspicious of other people." Says Yanagi. "I guess it doesn't hurt to tell her about our situation." Himuro says. "But, how do we get in contact with Arcadia Movement?" Asks Yanagi. "I'll check Saiga's data. He's a master when it comes to gathering information." Himuro says. "Wait." Says Sakura. "Huh? Why?" Lua asks. "If anyone should go and speak with Aki, it should be me." Says Sakura. She starts walking away from Himuro, Luca, Velvet, Lua, Yanagi and Subaru, with Grim trailing after her.
Lua gets up from the couch. "But Sakura, why are you going?" Lua asks.
"Because I had already planned to try talking to her. Besides, I may not know Divine all that well. However, I know how to spot a psychotic man when I see one." Says Sakura.
Velvet then all of a sudden wraps her arms around her waist. "Mommy, please don't go." Velvet says.
"Especially, not alone." Says Luca.
Sakura kneels down to Velvet's level, looking into her amber eyes. "Don't you worry, Velvet. I shall be back before you know it." Sakura says. She kisses Velvet's forehead and then goes back up to her normal height level. "Besides, I have Grim to look out for me." Says Sakura. She pats at Grim's head, lightly.
Subaru then walks over to stand before Sakura, meeting his mother in the eyes, scarlet red meeting dark-crimson red. "He's scared." Sakura thinks to herself. She touches Subaru's face, lightly, she is starting to notice that his facial features are similar to Kiryu's. Sakura then places her hand on his head, brushing her fingers through his light blue hair, which is also a trait that he shares with the Dark Signer. "No… he can't be…" Sakura thinks to herself. She takes her hand away from Subaru's face and stops combing through his hair. Sakura then looks back over to Velvet, who has a fair complexion, like Kiryu does. She also has a similar eye color to the Dark Signer, the only difference being that she has amber, while he has chartreuse. Sakura's eyes are downcast. Subaru notices this. "Mother." Subaru says. Sakura turns away from him and Velvet. Subaru lowers his gaze, saddened by his mother's sudden gesture.
"What do you want us to do if it doesn't go over well?" Asks Himuro.
"If I'm not back at least by late tonight, then call or find Jack. He shall know what to do." Sakura says.
"Jack? As in Atlas?" Asks Himuro.
"Yes. Don't worry, Jin. He doesn't bite, much." Sakura says. She walks out of the twins' apartment, with Grim in tow. Sakura then looks down at him, who looks back up at her. "Grim, be prepared to go shadow phase. Understand?" Asks Sakura. Grim barks, as if in acknowledgment. Sakura then summons forth one of her portals and steps into it, with him following alongside her. The portal soon closes up and she's gone, along with Grim.
Subaru grips at his arm, his head bowed. Velvet looks over at him, her smile has disappeared. Subaru has tears going down his face. "Brother?" Velvet asks, worriedly. She touches Subaru's shoulder. "Does mother hate us?" Asks Subaru, through his tears. "Of course not. Mommy loves us, dearly. What makes you think such things?" Velvet asks. "Mother never looked at us like that before." Says Subaru. "Don't worry, Subaru. Mommy loves us, and she always will." Velvet says. Subaru wipes his eyes with his sleeve and gives her a small smile. "Thanks, Velvet." Says Subaru. Velvet's signature smile returns, and she winks, cutely.
"Come on, let's go." Lua says. "Wait, go where Lua?" Asks Luca. "Where else? To see Aki at Arcadia." Lua says. "But, Sakura told us not to." Says Luca. "Oh, come on, Luca. How mad can she really get at us?" Lua asks. "Um, let me think, furious. And when I say furious, that means more towards you than me." Says Luca. "What's that suppose to mean?" Lua asks. "It means, Lua, that Sakura likes me better than you." Says Luca. "You just think that because you're both girls." Lua says. "Nu-uh." Says Luca. "Yu-huh." Lua says.
At the headquarters of the Arcadia Movement, a skyscraper somewhere in Neo Domino.
Black Rose Dragon destroys an opponent robot's Fiend Megacyber and knocks it over. Aki is breathing, heavily.
Divine's watching from an observation room glassed off from the arena, standing at the window, tensely. A peon in Arcadia robes joins him. "Hmph. Recently, Aki's power has continued to decrease." Says Divine. "The violence in her heart is directly connected to her psychic dueling power." "Emotions are the best way to keep feeding her energy for revenge." Divine says. "Did she have a change of heart?" "I know the cause." Says Divine. He looks down at Aki.
She is standing on the field, face downcast, eyes closed.
Flashback. At the Fortune Cup, 'Sakiko' faced down Aki's attacks, steadily. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. Aki exits the arena through an elevator and walks into a hallway.
Divine meets her there. "What's wrong? Do you feel sick?" Divine asks. "No." Says Aki. "Tell me what's bothering you. We're friends. There's no need to hide anything from me." Divine says. "Nothing is bothering me." Says Aki. "Aki, psychic duelists like us are social outcasts. Though we didn't want these powers, we were born with them." Divine says.
Flashback. The teenage Aki looks over her shoulder, sadly, lonely and alone.
Change flashback. At school, heads would turn and whispers would follow wherever Aki walked, as though she stood in a lonely spotlight. "And due to these powers, our friends, parents and society discriminate against us." Says Divine, in voice-over.
Change flashback. A door opens and Aki's parents stop their conversation, hastily, and move closer together, unable to hide their fear.
Change flashback. Teenage Aki, in her school blazer, stands before a bonfire burning with unwanted books and looks at her dueling deck, holding it out before the flames, contemplating throwing it into the fire. Then, she pulls back from the fire, looking as though she's about to cry, but she can't quite bring herself to burn her deck. "You were always alone." Divine says, in voice-over. The flames rise higher, hiding her from view. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "In order to create a home for people like you, I created Arcadia Movement. I understand you. Only I can stop the anger within you." Says Divine. He's sure that'll get Aki and is surprised when she nudges past him, continuing on her path. "I know." Aki says.
"Sakiko can't save you." Says Divine.
Aki gasps, she's been found out. "Ahh! Umm…" Aki says. She clenches a fist at her side.
"I'm the one who rescued you. I'm the one who gave you a home when you had nowhere to go. Don't forget that you owe me a debt of gratitude." Says Divine.
Aki walks off.
"Heheh." Divine's cell phone rings. "Huh?" Divine asks. He picks up. "What is it?" Asks Divine. "Master Divine, Arcadia has been snuck into. We're not sure who it is, but it might be Sakiko." "Sakiko's here?" Divine asks. "We don't know for sure. She doesn't have her signature mask." "Hmph. The chance to meet Godwin's precious Princess of Darkness without her mask. I'm intrigued. Where's she located?" Asks Divine. "East Hallway, close to Aki's room. What should we do?" "Nothing. I'll handle our guest myself." Divine says. "Also, a man named Jin Himuro wants to meet you." "Jin Himuro? The former pro duelist?" Asks Divine.
A small patio on the side of a massive skyscraper. Aki is leaning on the rail, daydreaming.
Flashback. At the Fortune Cup, 'Sakiko' and her Cynder the Black Dragon faced off against Aki and her Black Rose Dragon and Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis. "I shall keep taking it! Send out all your sadness!" 'Sakiko' says. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. Aki looks down, her expression intense, conflicted. "Why am I thinking about her? Hm..." Aki thinks to herself.
Sakura is walking down the hallway, with Grim keeping pace at her side, almost close to her room. She can sense Aki's nearby due to her signs and markings.
Sakura is suddenly grabbed from behind by Divine. He has her held in a strong arm hold. Grim turns and snarls at Divine, his teeth bared. He looks down at him, he's almost bemused by him. "Is that the same dog you had before?" Asks Divine. "Yes, he is. Grim's more than just a typical dog." Sakura says. Grim keeps baring his teeth at Divine, growling at him. "Doesn't matter! You'll not come between me and Aki, you got that?!" Asks Divine "What's the matter, Divine? Afraid that she shall turn her back on you and use her powers against your Arcadia Movement?" Sakura asks. "That's enough out of you." Says Divine. He pushes Sakura towards two goons and they both grab a hold of each of her arms. "Grim, shadow phase now." Sakura thinks to herself, speaking telepathically to Grim. He soon shifts his stance and bursts into a black shadowy mist, he's disappeared.
Divine then approaches Sakura and grabs her chin, roughly. "Not sure what happened to your mutt, but you'll now experience what happens to those who dare step into Arcadia under their own free will. You're quite foolish to step in here without backup. If that dog was it, then he's left you to fend for yourself." Divine says. "You can believe whatever you want." Says Sakura. Divine's actually taking in her looks, he's almost enchanted by her beauty. "Hm. Such bewitching looks, yet you hid it all away behind that fearsome mask. I wonder." Divine says. He traces at the marking under her left eye and face. "Is it because of this marker? That Godwin marked you as his personal property? Or is it to keep you in his grasp?" Asks Divine. Sakura moves to knee him, only for him to catch her incoming knee. "Oh, did I strike a nerve, Princess? You know, at the tournament, I saw what you were capable of. And I do have to admit that I was impressed." Divine says. He moves to caress Sakura's face, his face inches from hers. "Would you like to see what I'm capable of?" Asks Divine. He then locks lips with Sakura, stealing a kiss from her. Her eyes widen, she's completely caught off guard. The two goons release Sakura and step back.
Divine separates his lips from hers, he has one arm wrapped around her waist, keeping her held against him. He then suddenly jabs a needle, with some sort of drugged liquid, into the side of Sakura's neck. "You snake." Sakura says. Divine releases her and she starts to become tired. Sakura reaches for her head. "What did you do to me, Divine?" Asks Sakura. "I just sedated you, my dear." Divine says. "I shall get you for this." Says Sakura. She falls to her knees, slowly, and the rest of her body does the same. Sakura is completely out of it, knocked out.
Divine's standing over her unconscious body. "Hm. She is quite enchanting. I can see why the former King had eyes for her." Divine says.
A blue-glowing circle pulses against black and the Earthbound Giant rises to its full height, lightning crackling around its shoulders and unnatural purple flames raging at its feet. "Hahahahahahaha! Yusei, taste the curse of the dead! My Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu! Swing the steel hammer of justice on our enemy, the Signers!" Says Kiryu.
Ccapac Apu reaches toward the ground with one massive black hand.
Yusei closes his eyes, flinching, waiting for the end.
And awakens with a yell. Yusei sits up in bed and looks around, shirtless. He's in a bed at Martha's house and sunlight is streaming through the window. "Where am I?" Yusei asks. He winces in pain, a hand going to the bandages wrapped around his stomach.
Hotaru pulls open the curtain between Yusei's bed and the rest of the room. She's wearing a black, turtleneck sweater, black skirt, purple tights and black flats. Aurora's standing at Hotaru's side. "Yu... sei..." Says Hotaru, softly. "Hotaru." Yusei says. Hotaru has tears forming in her eyes and she's fidgeting with her fingers. "What's wrong?" Asks Yusei. "I... I saw Sakura. But, I couldn't bring myself to go to her." Hotaru says. "You still think she meant what she said?" Asks Yusei. Hotaru looks up at him, with a couple tears streaming down her face. "Hotaru, Sakura was going through a lot when she said those things. She wasn't herself at the time. She said some pretty harsh things to me, too. But, I knew she wasn't in the right mindset when she said them and that she'd eventually come around." Yusei says. He reaches one of his hands out to Hotaru and places it on her shoulder, lightly. "And, you know what, she did just that. I'll tell you this, though. She's never going to truly be the same again. But, there's one thing about Sakura that hasn't changed and that's how she feels towards us. She's our older sister, Hotaru. And that's never going to change." Says Yusei. Hotaru nods and hugs him, carefully. "I'm so glad you're okay, Yusei." Hotaru says. Aurora jumps up on the side of the bed with her front paws. Yusei scratches her cheek and underneath her chin. "Hey, Aurora. Still as pretty as ever." Says Yusei. Hotaru hugs Aurora around the neck with one arm. "That she is." Hotaru says.
Martha soon draws open the curtain. "Are you awake?" Asks Martha. Hotaru stops hugging Yusei and stands at his bedside, Aurora gets off from the bed and sits down beside the former. "Martha? I…" Yusei says. "You were hurt, so Crow and Sakura brought you here." Says Martha. "Crow? Sakura?" Yusei asks.
Flashback. Yusei's engine explodes and he skids backward with it, out of reach of the Immortal's descending hand, both rider and D-Wheel bouncing and rolling on the ground. "I remember. Kiryu and I were…" Says Yusei, in voice-over. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "The doctor said that it was a miracle that you only had a few wounds." Martha says. Yusei looks out the window, his D-Wheel is sitting in the yard, with a couple of little kids standing around it. "Huh?" Asks Yusei. "Rally and the others pushed it here." Martha says. "Rally?" Asks Yusei. Martha seems to be amused at his surprise. "They all came down with a cold. Make sure to thank them later. Crow left quickly. You kids are so ungrateful. Once you learn how to talk, you push aside the parents who raised you so that you can focus on building those machines. Then you leave and go to dangerous places. I'm shocked speechless." Martha says, seriously. She turns away and walks to a shelf against the wall, turning back to glare on the last line. "What's your reason?" Asks Martha.
"I was investigating why people from Satellite were vanishing. It has something to do with the former Moment." Yusei says.
"The former Moment? But, that area is dangerous." Says Martha. She picks up an apple from the fruit bowl on the shelf and starts cutting it into slices, turning away entirely. "Can you handle it all by yourself?" Martha asks.
"I don't know." Says Yusei.
"That's not like you. If you can't handle it alone, then why are you trying to do it all by yourself? Jack and Crow were raised as your brothers. They can help you. And there's Sakura, who actually is your blood-related sister, your twin nonetheless. She can also help you. Why don't you want their help?" Martha asks, bitterly, saddened at his dangerous foolishness.
Yusei looks down at the sheets, considering her words.
Martha places the apple slices on a plate. "When you lived here, you were honest with your feelings and believed in your friends. Yusei, there are times when a man has to do impossible missions on his own. However, no matter how impossible the tasks, your friends will help you as long as you believe in what you're doing. And your sister, she'll always stand by you, because she believes in you." Says Martha.
Yusei gasps, struck by the statement. "Eat." Martha says. She hands him the plate, with two apple slices. "Martha, thanks." Says Yusei. "Listen, Yusei!" Martha says. She brandishes a fist. "If you try to leave before your wounds heal, then I'll pummel you!" Says Martha. Yusei almost laughs, then looks down at the sign on his arm. "Friends… And my sister…" Yusei thinks to himself. "Hey, where is Sakura anyway? I need to thank her." Yusei says. "She's gone, Yusei. She went back to the City. She needed to bring the other three Signers together is what she said. I just hope she hasn't gotten into any trouble already." Says Martha.
Meanwhile, at the Arcadia building. Himuro, Yanagi, Luca, Lua, Subaru and Velvet, all in their nicest clothes, are sitting down to dinner with Divine, who is wearing a rather outrageous-looking fancy teal suit. Lua's wearing a blue suit, with a white shirt and blue bowtie under his jacket, and black loafers, with white, knee high socks. Luca is wearing a pink dress, a white cardigan and a pink ribbon below her neck. Subaru's wearing a black, long-sleeved jacket, with a red shirt underneath, and a brown belt around it. He's also wearing black jeans, along with his usual black heeled boots, and his signature necklace. Velvet is wearing a short, glittering dress with a color gradation of red to white at the hem, and a white, tulle petticoat. A white sash is wrapped multiple times around her waist, and over the outfit is worn a slightly sheer, long-sleeved red bolero, fastened at the collar with a large ruby broach, that has three pendants dangling from it. Completing her attire is a red scarf, with white designs at the ends, red wedge heels and ruby drop earrings. Divine has a familiar looking female with him, only the others can't seem to figure it out. Luca has some suspicions, even both Subaru and Velvet seem to know who she is. Her head has a hood over it, so the upper half of her face is shadowed. The hood is attached to a cloak that goes down to her ankles. "Do you remember if we're supposed to use knives and forks from the outside in?" Yanagi asks, aside to Himuro. "We didn't come here to eat." Says Himuro, aside to Yanagi. "That's right." Yanagi says. "That's an interesting story. A group known as the Dark Signers are trying to conquer Neo Domino City?" Asks Divine. "That's right, and the Signers are fighting them! That's why we want Aki to help us. Since she also has the mark, she can save Yusei!" Lua says. "Have you received any contact from Yusei?" Asks Divine. "Not yet." Himuro says, unamused. "Hm. Fine. We will do everything we can to help you." Says Divine. "Really?" Lua asks. "Eh?" Asks Yanagi. "Arcadia Movement does research on psychic duels, but we're facing trouble because people spread false rumors about us. If we can help you, then we'll gladly do it!" Divine says. "Hooray!" Says Lua. "Thank goodness!" Luca says. Neither Subaru nor Velvet seem to trust this, they're both eyeing Divine, suspiciously. "Oh yeah, I'll bring her. I'll return soon. Excuse me." Says Divine. He walks out of the room.
"How's that! Just like I thought, he's not a bad person!" Lua says. "I'm surprised it went so quickly and smoothly." Says Yanagi. "It's unexpected, but we shouldn't let our guard down." Himuro says. "Why do adults have to be so suspicious of others?" Asks Lua. "You guys need to get out of here, now." "Wait, who are you to tell us what to do?" Lua asks. "Lua!" Says Luca, chiding. "I happen to be the one who told you not to come here in the first place." She pulls her hood down and removes her cloak. The shadows then make it disappear, changing it into Sakura's long tailcoat. "Sakura!" Himuro, Yanagi and the twins all say, surprised. Velvet and Subaru knew it was their mother the whole time. "You guys need to leave, now." Says Sakura, while placing her coat back on. "Why?" Lua asks. "Divine isn't going to help you. He isn't even going to get Aki." Says Sakura. "Anyway, what about the meal? I'm really hungry!" Lua says. "Lua, sit quietly." Says Luca. Sakura's eyes are starting to get heavy again like before. "Oh-no, not again." Sakura says. She suddenly falls to her knees again. "Sakura!" Says Himuro. He runs over to Sakura and keeps her from collapsing to the floor, she's out cold.
"Mother!" Subaru says. He and Velvet run over to her and Himuro, kneeling down. "What's wrong with mommy?" Asks Velvet.
Lua yawns.
Himuro manages to find some sort of needle on the ground near Sakura, he then picks it up and examines it, closely. "She's been drugged." Himuro says.
"Drugged?" Asks Lua, with a yawn.
"You know, sedated." Himuro says.
"Whoa, you sure. 'Cause, I'm suddenly sleepy." Says Lua. He rests his head on the table and falls asleep.
"Me, too." Luca says. She tilts her head to one side and nods off.
"Hey!" Says Himuro. Velvet's rubbing at her eyes, sleepily, and slumps over onto the floor, lying on Sakura's shoulder, nodding off.
Subaru isn't far behind his twin, as he succumbs to the realm of sleep.
"I'm also…" Yanagi says. He falls asleep, too.
"Grandpa! Uh, what's going on… Ugh…" Says Himuro. He falls asleep, too.
The door opens, admitting Divine and four Arcadia goons, all wearing gas masks. "Luca, I always wanted to make you a member of Arcadia Movement. This is what it means by 'a moth to a flame'. And Sakiko, for the answers I want from you, I know you'll be a tough one to crack. So, I guess I'll have to break you to get the answers I want from you." Divine thinks to himself. He turns to the goons. "Take Miss Kuro to my private quarters. You know what to do with the rest of them." Divine says.
Sometime later. Himuro and Yanagi are locked up in a small room, with a dripping pipe or two, still out cold.
Sakura's been placed in some sort of room and her wrists are tied down to the armrests of the chair that she's sitting in, she's still knocked out herself.
"Wake up, my little pretty." Says Divine.
Sakura's eyes flutter open, she's still feeling the effects of the sedation.
Divine kneels down before her and lifts up her chin, making her look up at him. "You may still be under sedation, but I know you can still understand what I'm saying to you. So listen very carefully, I'm only going to give you this one chance. Tell me about these powers that you and that little girl possess? Are there more of you?" Divine asks. "I'm not... telling you... anything, Divine... And leave… Luca alone... She is... just a child..." Says Sakura, still under the effects of the sedation. Divine then releases her chin and stands up. "You had your chance. From now on, your stay here will be quite unpleasant. I'll torture you until you break and tell me what I want to know." Divine says.
He turns to the door and gets ready to leave. "Sakura, that's your actual name, isn't it? The others were calling you by that name instead of Sakiko. And those two young kids, are they yours?" Asks Divine.
"Do not… touch them…" Sakura says.
"I thought the young girl resembled you quite a bit. You know the saying 'like mother, like daughter'. But, she must get her eyes from her dad. And your son, he must take after him. Except, he got the rare red eye trait from you. I will be back to deal with you." Says Divine. He opens the door and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
Divine then turns to face the goon standing at the door. "No one else but me is allowed to enter this room. I'll be back once I'm through with the boy." Divine says. He walks off down the hallway. "Whatever you say, Boss."
"Grim, come forth." Sakura thinks to herself, speaking telepathically to Grim.
Streams of shadowy mist suddenly emerge from her shadow and he soon takes form before her. "Grim, listen to me. I need you to find Jack and lead him to me. I shall open up the portal for you. However, I don't have enough power for it to send you directly to him. I just have enough for it to bring you outside of this building. Do you understand?" Sakura thinks to herself, speaking telepathically to Grim. He bows his head, as if in acknowledgment. Sakura, with all the power she has right now, summons forth one of her portals, which is noticeably smaller than what she's normally able to open up, but big enough to accommodate Grim. He walks up to the portal and stops in front of it, turning to look back at her. "Go on, Grim. I can't keep it open for long." Sakura thinks to herself, speaking telepathically to Grim. He then turns to face the portal and leaps into it. As soon as Grim steps into it, the portal closes.
The portal opens up just outside the front door of the Arcadia building and he comes running out of it, with it closing up behind him. Grim lifts his head up to the sky and sniffs the air. He soon takes off running down the street, in search for Jack.
Luca comes to looking at Aki, sideways. She sits up on the couch she was asleep on and looks again.
Subaru and Velvet soon wake up, too.
Aki is standing nearby, she hasn't noticed that Luca, Subaru and Velvet have awakened.
"Aki." Says Luca.
"Be quiet and watch." Aki says. She turns away from them and looks through the window.
"Huh?" Asks Luca. She stands up and walks to the window beside Aki, Velvet and Subaru follow suit, they're looking down onto a duel arena, where Divine stands at one end and Lua stands at the other, tugging at a chain attached to his ankle. He's wearing a helmet and shoulder pads, with little yellow antennae. "Lua! What are you doing?" Luca asks. "It's a test." Says Aki. "A test?" Luca asks.
"Egh! Egh! Rrgh! What is this? What are you planning to do with me?" Asks Lua.
"Luca has a mysterious ability that allows her to speak with the spirits. Since you're her twin, you might also have a hidden ability. That's why I'm going to test you." Divine says.
"You were lying when you said that you'll help us fight the Dark Signers?" Asks Lua.
"Sorry, but I have no interest in the Dark Signers." Divine says.
"You tricked us! Uh..." Says Lua. He notices Luca, Velvet and Subaru in the window above. "Luca! Run away, Luca! Subaru and Velvet, you guys escape with her, too!" Lua says.
"They can't hear what we're saying." Says Divine.
"What is Arcadia Movement?" Lua asks.
"I believe that by training psychic duelists, they'll become excellent soldiers." Says Divine.
"Soldiers?" Lua asks.
"That's right. Psychic soldiers. The powers of psychic duelists increase by dueling, and then I'll lend out the soldiers. They'll accomplish remarkable tasks." Says Divine.
"No way…" Lua says.
"The psychic duelists will shape the world. Interesting, isn't it? This is how we'll get our revenge against the people who discriminated against us!" Says Divine.
"Using duels as war?" Lua asks. He gasps. "Aki knew about this and was fine with it?" Asks Lua.
"She doesn't know yet." Divine says.
Aki, Luca, Velvet and Subaru are watching, but they can't hear anything that's being said.
"Now, let's begin your test." Says Divine.
Leo's duel disk activates. "My duel disk…" Lua says.
"My test is dangerous, so show no mercy when you attack me." Says Divine.
Lua clenches his teeth, growling under his breath.
"Here I go!" Divine says.
"Duel!" Both Lua and Divine say. Both duelists start with 4000 life points.
"My turn!" Says Divine. He draws. "I summon Krebons!" Divine says.
Krebons has 1200 attack points and is a Level 2 monster. "Then, I set one card and end my turn. Now, it's your turn." Says Divine.
"Dammit, fine! You have no problems with me winning, do you?" Lua asks.
"That's the spirit." Says Divine.
"My turn! I summon Morphtronic Radion!" Lua says.
Morphtronic Radion has 1000 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "When this card is in attack position, Morphtronic monsters on my field gain eight hundred attack points! he's in attack mode, all the other Morphtronic monsters get an extra eight hundred attack points!" Says Lua. That includes itself, Morphtronic Radion's attack points increase to 1800. "Now it has more attack points than yours! Go, Radion! Earphone Shoot!" Lua says.
"Krebons's effect activates! When this card is the target of attack, I can negate your monster's attack by paying eight hundred life points." Says Divine.
A barrier of Krebons' yellowish power appears around it and Lua's monster bounces off.
Divine's life points decrease to 3200.
"He sacrificed his own life to keep his monster." Lua thinks to himself. "I end my turn!" Lua says.
"My turn! I summon Psychic Snail!" Says Divine.
Psychic Snail has 1900 attack points and is a Level 4 monster.
"Ah! One thousand nine hundred attack points?" Lua asks.
"It's time I get a little serious. Psychic Snail attacks Radion! Snail Thunder!" Says Divine.
It destroys Radion, leaving Lua with 3900 life points. "Nyaaagh-aaagh! I actually felt an impact…" Lua says.
"Psychic duels are completely different than your duels. Be careful. Krebons, attack him directly!" Says Divine.
"Aaah! Aaaaagh!" Lua is thrown to the floor, held back from flying further by the chain. His life points read 2700. Lua's really in pain now, he clenches his teeth and a bead of sweat drips down his cheek.
"Lua! Why are you doing such horrible things to him?" Luca asks. "This is a test. When he feels cornered, his powers may awaken." Says Aki. "But…" Luca says, worriedly.
Lua's starting to cry. "It hurts! Aaaaaaaagh!" Says Lua.
"Hurry up and stand up, kid! You don't understand the situation. Since I told you our secrets, I can't guarantee that I'll let you live!" Divine says, heartlessly.
"What?" Asks Lua.
"If you want to live, then attack me as if your life depends on it. Awaken your abilities!" Divine says.
Lua clenches his fist. "Ugh, my abilities… That's right! No matter what, I'll protect Luca!" Says Lua.
"That's the spirit. Many psychic duelists awaken their powers when they realize what they need to protect. Now, show me your power!" Divine says.
"My turn!" Says Lua. He draws. "I summon Morphtronic Remoten!" Lua says.
Morphtronic Remoten has 300 attack points and is a Level 3 monster. "Then I activate the Continuous Spell 'Junk Box'! Due to 'Junk Box's' effect, I Special Summon Morphtronic Radion!" Says Lua.
Morphtronic Radion has 1000 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "Level Three Remoten tunes Level Four Radion!" Lua says.
Remoten's little mechanical eyes whirl a couple times, then it disappears, revealing three shining stars that soar upward into the air and re-emerge as green rings. Radion flies through the rings, transforming into glowing outlines. Its four stars align.
"In order to protect world peace, courage and power dock together! Synchro Summon! The emissary of love and justice! Power Tool Dragon!" Says Lua.
Power Tool Dragon has 2300 attack points and is a Level 7 monster.
"Oh, you have a card that I'm a bit excited about." Divine says.
"Power Tool Dragon lets me add a random Equip Spell in my deck to my hand! I activate 'Double Tool C&D'! During my turn, the equipped monster gains one thousand attack points! 'Double Tool' equips on to Power Tool Dragon!" Says Lua. Power Tool Dragon's attack points rise up to 3300. "Go, Power Tool Dragon! Crafty Break!" Lua says.
"Krebons's effect activates! When this card is the target of attack, I can pay eight hundred life points to negate your attack!" Says Divine.
"That doesn't work! When a monster equipped with 'Double Tool' attacks, your monster's effect is negated!" Lua says.
"What?" Asks Divine.
Krebons is destroyed.
Divine's life points fall to 1100, he barely notices. "Heh. Nicely done." Divine says.
Power Tool Dragon's points go back to 2300. "That's right. I'm the sixth Signer! I won't lose to someone like you! I'll get Luca, Velvet and Subaru back!" Says Lua.
"Lua, do your best." Luca thinks to herself.
"My turn. I activate the Continuous Spell 'Psi-Station'! With this card, when a Psychic-Type monster is successfully summoned, I can pay five hundred life points to increase the monster's Level by one and its attack points by three hundred. From my hand, I summon the Tuner Monster Psychic Commander." Divine says.
Psychic Commander has 1400 attack points and is a Level 3 monster. "I pay five hundred life points to activate 'Psi-Station's' effect!" Says Divine. His life points decrease further to 600. "Psychic Commander's Level and attack points increase!" Divine says. Psychic Commander now has 1700 attack points and is a Level 4 monster.
"The Tuner Monster becomes Level Four?" Asks Lua.
"Then, Level Four Psychic Commander tunes Level Four Psychic Snail!" Divine says.
Psychic Commander and Psychic Snail combine, the former forming green rings around the latter.
"Surge, my black fire of revenge! Synchro Summon! Come, Thought Ruler Archfiend!" Says Divine.
From a smoldering cobalt fog emerges a pair of glowing red eyes, followed by a huge monster. "Heheheheh."
"Ohh!" Luca says. She watches, fearfully.
Thought Ruler Archfiend is a fearsome creature in dark green and bright orange, with bleached white bones for armor, a skeletal face, large wings and claws. Thought Ruler Archfiend has 2700 attack points and is a Level 8 monster.
"Two thousand seven hundred attack points… However, Power Tool Dragon can send its Equip Card to the graveyard to negate its destruction in battle!" Says Lua.
"I applaud you for giving me this much trouble. However, your talent is not what I was looking for. I activate the trap card 'Battle Teleportation'. One Psychic-Type monster can attack you directly!" Divine says.
"Uaaaaaah!"
"Thought Ruler Archfiend, attack him directly." Says Divine.
"Aaaah! Aaaaaaaah! Uugh!" Lua gets blasted with shadowy fog from Thought Ruler Archfiend and hits the ground. He looks up at the window from the floor. "No way…" Lua says, weakly. He faints, lying there on the ground, motionless, he's reflected in Power Tool Dragon's shiny red eye before both Power Tool and Thought Ruler disappear, the duel is over.
"He was a worthless piece of garbage. What a waste of my time." Divine thinks to himself. He looks up at Luca, who is beating the window, frantically.
"Lua!" Says Luca.
Sometime later in the night, Divine has returned to his private quarters. He's standing across from Sakura, who is facing the wall and her arms are tied up over her head to the wall. All of her clothes have been removed, with the exception of her black panties, while her hair is slung over her shoulders. Divine's holding a whip in his hand. "You should've told me what I wanted to know the first time. You're at my mercy now, Sakura." Divine says. He cracks the whip against the bare flesh of Sakura's back. She lets out a cry, in pain. Divine lashes at Sakura's exposed skin, nonstop, not showing any restraint or mercy.
