Chapter 11: Infiltrate! Arcadia Movement, It's My Turn!
In Divine's private quarters. It's two in the morning, he's been whipping Sakura for five hours straight. Divine does one final whack of the whip and tosses it down to the floor.
Sakura's back and some parts of her thighs are bloody and covered in open wounds from the whip, it is almost hard to tell which ones are the wounds and which ones are the symbolic designs.
Divine walks over to her and tugs at her hair, pulling her head back. "Are you ready to cooperate?" Divine asks. Sakura looks up at him, she still has her resolve. "I shall… never… give in… to you..." Says Sakura, pained. "Fine, have it your way. There are other ways to break you." Divine says. With him having pulled her head back, he has a clear view of Sakura's body. "Hm!" Says Divine. He has a wicked smile, and presses himself up against Sakura from behind. Divine pulls at her hair more, making her body arch into him, and with her hands still tied up over her head to the wall, it gives him an even better view of her body. "I have to say, your body is quite tempting bared. I think, I'll partake in you." Divine says. He takes his free hand and starts roaming it along her body. Sakura turns her head away, in disgust. Since she can't fight back against him, due to her hands being bound, Divine lets go of her hair, and starts fondling her breasts. "Stop it!" Says Sakura, firmly. Divine brushes his face into her neck and shoulder. "No, I don't think I will. I'll teach you to submit to me. Just as I'll do the same to Aki, when the time comes. Although, lets face it, she won't put up much of a fight against me. She'll be begging me to take her, in mind and body." Divine says. "Your a sadist!" Says Sakura, sickened. Divine keeps roaming his hands along her perfectly fit curves, while also keeping her pressed into him. "Hm! How perceptive of you! From the way your body tenses up at my touch, you've been taken by force before, haven't you?" Divine asks. Sakura's eyes widen a bit. "You do not know me!" Says Sakura. "So, I'm right. You were raped by someone. That explains why you're so distant from others. Was it your baby daddy? Or perhaps, the former King himself?" Divine asks. Sakura's eyes flash red, briefly. "Hold your tongue!" Says Sakura, with venom. "Oh, looks like I just got my answer. Doesn't matter, though." Divine says. He snakes one of his hands downward. "I'll still take you!" Says Divine. His hand reaches the fabric of her panties and tears them off of her, rendering Sakura completely naked in front of him. Divine then in a blink of an eye, grabs her and tosses her onto the bed, with her wrists still bound. Before Sakura can even make an attempt to escape this situation, he's on top of her within seconds, keeping her from moving by pushing his weight on her. During the fiasco, her hair has become free of her signature hairpieces, setting it completely loose as its sprawled all over the bed. Divine's taking in the sight before him, a complete view of Sakura in all her naked glory. "How exquisite. Go ahead and scream all you want, no one will help you or stop me." Divine says.
Carly is sleeping at a table again, as her phone rings unanswered. The answering machine picks up. "Hi, this is Carly! If you need to reach me, leave a message." A hologram of her boss appears from the cell phone, shouting down at her, as she continues to sleep, or fake it. "Carly, what happened at Satellite? Hurry up and bring me an article or you're fired!" Carly awakens, groggily, but doesn't even want to lift her head, she stares at the desk. Her eyes, with her glasses off, are full of misery. Carly closes her eyes and remembers.
Flashback. Carly, Jack and Minako are standing on the helicopter pad next to the helicopter that took them to the Satellite and back. Jace is fast asleep, as Minako holds him in her arms. "Thanks for everything." Says Jack. "Huh?" Carly asks. "I'm leaving." Says Jack. "Then I'm also going to Satellite, wha!" Carly says. Jack grabs the camera from her hands, pulls the memory card out and snaps it in two with his fingertips. "Wh-wha!" Says Carly. "Stop digging deeper into this situation. This is the destiny of the Signers. It's not for you." Jack says. "But I want to learn the truth!" Says Carly. Jack turns away. "I promise that I'll tell you everything when it's over. For now, stay out of it." Jack says. He takes his sleeping son from Minako and holds him in one of his arms. "Jack!" Says Carly. "I want you to be safe." Jack says. He and Minako walk away.
"Jack…" Says Carly. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. Carly whimpers and hides her face in her arms on the table. "Oh, why did you leave, Jack?" Carly asks. She sits there, miserably, and turns her head to the side.
As she looks at the kitchen sink, Carly can almost see Jack standing there holding a mug.
She turns the other way and sees him leaning against the wall.
Then sitting on the couch looking out the window.
"Ugh!" Says Carly. She springs from her chair, tears running down her cheeks and throws herself down on her knees, crying into the couch cushions and punching them. "You idiot! Why did you have to leave? Give me back the meal money I lent you! I let you drink the tea that I was saving for a special occasion! Though it was embarrassing, I sent out your men's clothing for cleaning! Give me everything back, Jack Atlas!" Carly says. A sob or two. "Give me back my heart…" Says Carly. She then looks up at the window. "I won't stop my investigation. Because if I do, I'll lose my connection with Jack." Carly thinks to herself.
In the Dark Signers' lair. Kiryu opens the door to the candlelit chamber and walks inside.
The Dark Signer with the red-trimmed robe is waiting in the large chair at the head of the table, arms folded. The Dark Signer with the yellow-trimmed robe is standing at his shoulder.
Kiryu leans against the table with both hands, triumphantly. "Why didn't you finish off Yusei?" "There's no need to be impatient. Besides, everyone on our side haven't gathered yet. Furthermore, I want him to taste a living hell. With the power of the Earthbound Immortal, I learned that he's clearly scared." Kiryu says.
Flashback. The Giant Immortal reaches out one massive black hand, as Kiryu rides ahead of it and the ground shatters before its descent. "He's afraid of my power." Says Kiryu, in voice-over.
Yusei flinches and closes his eyes tightly, waiting for the end. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "The most painful thing for a duelist is being afraid of the opponent's power. After he experiences that, we can defeat him anytime we want. But first, I want him to watch as I torture his precious sister and break her very will. And once the Host has lost her resolve to resist us, the Signers' hope will crumble like dust. I'll make both half-twins suffer, physically and mentally. Hahahahahahahahaha!" Kiryu says.
Yusei's standing beside his D-Wheel in Martha's yard. It's as sunny as the Satellite ever gets.
"Yusei!" Says Rally. He and Blitz come jogging up to Yusei. Blitz is in a white shirt now, no sweater-vest, and Rally seems to have found similar clothes to the ones he lost that are even in slightly better condition. "Are you healthy now?" Rally asks. "Yeah. Are you also okay?" Asks Yusei. "We only had a slight fever." Rally says. "How's the D-Wheel? If you need any parts, we'll gather them for you." Says Blitz. "Thanks. I'm sorry to keep troubling you." Yusei says. "Don't be like that. We're friends. You can ask us for anything." Says Blitz. Rally nods. "Thanks." Yusei says. He looks down at his hand, it's shaking slightly. Yusei can still see Kiryu's unnatural, malicious grin. "However, even if we fix the D-Wheel…" Yusei thinks to himself.
Flashback. Kiryu rides ahead, as the Immortal's pitch-black hand descends on Yusei and his wobbling D-Wheel.
"Yusei!" Says both Jack and Sakura.
"Yusei!" Crow, Rally, Nerve, Taka and Blitz all say.
Yusei flinches and closes his eyes, waiting for the end, driven back by that mighty black hand. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. As Yusei stands there, he sees it looming over him, along with the shadow of Kiryu's sinister grin and he's shaking all over. "Kiryu's too powerful. In my current state, I can't defeat him." Yusei thinks to himself.
Sakura winces, deeply, and looks up at the ceiling. She's lying on the bed, with her arms still tied up over her head. Sakura's fighting to keep her tears from falling, she's hurting, deeply. "Brother… Make this pain stop…" Sakura thinks to herself.
Divine's hovering over her, breathing heavily. "Oh, did I hurt you?" Asks Divine. He grips at Sakura's face. "Still not giving in, I see." Divine says. She glares up at him, her resolve is still very much in her eyes. Divine's almost taken aback by this. "Hmm?" Asks Divine. "I told you already! I shall never give in to you, Divine. You can do whatever you want to me. Whip me, rape me, torture me, whatever makes you feel like your in control. However, you can go to Hell." Sakura says. Divine seethes at this and backhands her, which stuns her, but only briefly. He then gets up and out of the bed, he's completely naked, just as Sakura is. "Your punishment has only just begun, my dear. I'll whip, rape and torture you every day and night until I finally break you. Besides, I enjoy taking you, your body is quite tempting to unravel." Says Divine. He removes the condom from his dick. "Oh, and don't worry. I don't plan on impregnating you, that luxury I'm reserving for Aki." Divine says. "Aki? You mean, your going to force her to bear your child!" Says Sakura. "I'm not a monster, Sakura. I haven't even touched her intimately as of yet. I'm a patient man, I'll wait until she comes of age, when she's finally considered an adult. But until then, I need to release my pent up sexual urges on someone, which makes you the perfect substitute for Aki." Divine says. "Your a vile man, Divine." Says Sakura. Divine, now dressed, smirks at that. He then leans over Sakura and touches the Seal of the Crimson Dragon etched into her abdomen, tracing his hand along it. "And your very body houses secrets, it's written all over it." Divine says. He then turns away and leaves, closing the door behind him and locks it.
With him now gone, Sakura tries to remove her bonds, but she's struggling due to barely having the strength to do so. She then rolls herself over, which causes the wounds to her back to react, and she cries out, in pain. The bed sheets are actually smeared with her blood from her back. Sakura, out of weakness, rolls out of the bed and onto the floor, which makes her cry out even more. "Jack… help me…" Sakura thinks to herself. She soon loses consciousness.
Jack's foot is steady on the pedal and his helmet is gleaming in the sunlight, as he rides his D-Wheel around the track at his apartment in the City.
Minako is waiting by the side of the track, with a clipboard.
After one more lap, Jack stops next to her. Minako leans over, as he removes his helmet. "How does it feel to ride the new Wheel of Fortune?" Asks Minako. "Its construction isn't bad. It has much more power than the previous version." Jack says.
Flashback. "Awaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh!" Jack and his D-Wheel had fallen out of the sky, literally, bounced apart and hit the asphalt, separately and painfully. The D-Wheel flipped over, sparking as it skidded all over the Duel Stadium track. "The damage during the Fortune Cup was extensive." Says Minako, in voice-over. Jack barely stayed conscious for a few minutes after, battered and injured. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "Besides, the director wanted to improve Wheel of Fortune for awhile." Minako says. "Hmph. That means Godwin already knew about the power of the Dark Signers' D-Wheels. Well, whatever. When this ride is finalized, I'm returning to Satellite." Says Jack. "Right!" Minako says. "What is it?" Asks Jack. "I'm just happy that the old Jack Atlas is back. The Jack Atlas that travels the King's path." Minako says. "It's not the King's path." Says Jack. "Huh?" Minako asks. "There never was a King's path. So if there's no path, that means I have to create my own! The true path of Jack Atlas."
"Catch that dog!"
Jack and Minako look towards where the voice came from.
Grim has found his way to his apartment and a security guard is chasing after him.
"Grim? What's he doing here?" Asks Jack.
Grim runs right up to him, his D-Wheel and Minako, coming to a halt in front of them, panting heavily. She approaches him. "He's exhausted. Wherever he came from, he must have ran all the way here." Minako says. "Something's not right." Says Jack.
The security guard finally catches up to Grim and comes to a stop in front of him and Minako, trying to catch his breath. "I'm sorry. I've been chasing after this dog for over an hour. I'll just take him now and bring him to the pound." "No, I'm keeping this dog with me. I know who this dog belongs to and he'll stay with me until his owner comes for him." Jack says. "But, Sir. I can't just..." "I said I'll take care of it! The dog's staying here with me until his owner can come and get him! Now, get out of my sight!" Says Jack. The guard turns and walks away, with a huff.
As soon as the guard leaves, Grim collapses to the ground, in exhaustion. Jack steps off of his D-Wheel and walks over to him. "Minako, go get him some water." Jack says. "Of course, right away." Says Minako. She turns and runs off inside.
Jack then crouches down next to Grim and touches his head, lightly petting him. "I'll let you rest for now. But, I know you came here for a reason." Jack says.
Elsewhere in the city is a small, empty shop full of glass display cases. A few collectible action figures of White Magician Pikeru, Ebon Magician Curran and Cyber Tutu, among others, have places of honor on a display shelf toward the front. Carly's leaning on a desk in the back, speaking with a guy at the computer. The wall behind the desk holds several posters and portraits of Dark Magician Girl. "So, what did you find?" Asks Carly. "Carly, it's just as you suspected. There were at least five Signers in the Fortune Cup stadium." "Uh huh, and?" Carly asks. The computer screen shows images screen-capped the Fortune Cup duels of each person named. "The first is Yusei Fudo. Another is Jack Atlas. A child named Luca is one. And Aki Izayoi is another. The final one is Sakiko Kuro." His screen now shows screen-capped of their six marks. "The Dark Signers' marks were Nazca lines." Carly thinks to herself. She points to the screen. "What kind of pattern are these marks?" Asks Carly. "I don't know. There were no matches in my database." "Hmmm. Then I'll have to ask them directly. I can't ask Jack, Yusei or Sakura. And a child won't have information about this. That leaves Aki Izayoi. Arcadia Movement." Carly says. Her informant holds up a booklet. "I knew you would arrive at this conclusion, so I already gathered information on Arcadia Movement." "Huh? Heheyeah!" Says Carly. She grabs for it. "That's why you're an information gatherer!" Carly says. He holds it out of reach. "Mmmhmmm. I didn't say it would be for free." "Ogh, that's why I saved this!" Says Carly. She opens her fanny pack and pulls out… "Ta-daa." Carly says. "That's the incredibly rare Dark Magician Girl action figure!" He hands her the booklet. "Negotiations completed." Carly puts down the action figure and grabs the booklet. "Okay!" Says Carly.
Outside in her car, she reads the booklet. Outside, a few little kids run by wearing duel disks. "Arcadia Movement has a really bad reputation. Huh?" Carly asks. She recognizes one picture, it's Misty Lola. "This is…" Says Carly.
Inside the Arcadia building. "Why are we in this situation?" Yanagi asks. He and Himuro are standing in a room full of metal panels, pipes and gauges. A fuse box or boiler room somewhere in the basement. "We were careless. It was a mistake to trust Arcadia Movement. Their goal was to kidnap us from the start. We should've listened to Sakura when she told us so." Says Himuro. "But why us?" Yanagi asks. "They're most likely after Sakura and Luca." Says Himuro. "Does that mean they want to use the Signers for something?" Yanagi asks. "I don't know. But if they want Sakura and Luca, that means we're the ones in danger. They'll do something bad to us if we stay here." Says Himuro. "They're going to kill us?" Yanagi asks. Himuro holds out a hand. "…uh!" Says Yanagi. "Don't lose your cool, Grandpa. Let's think about how to escape from here." Himuro says.
Luca is standing pressed up against the glass of a chamber, in which Lua is asleep, watching him, with concern.
Subaru's sitting on the couch in the same room as her, with his chin resting on his fist, while Velvet is curled up on the couch next to him, with her head lying on his lap, asleep.
"Lua… Huh? Aki!" Says Luca.
Aki has opened the door of her room and walks to stand beside her.
Subaru's watching her, closely.
"He's not in serious condition." Aki says. "Why did he do this?" Asks Luca. "Divine wanted to know if he was a psychic duelist." Aki says. "Lua is a regular boy! If he wants me, then let Lua go!" Says Luca. "Starting today, this is your new home. This is a place for people who have been abandoned by society and their parents." Aki says. "No one has abandoned us!" Says Luca. "I know you understand the situation." Aki says. "Uh." Says Luca. "People will eventually fear your abilities. You're also afraid that strangers will find out about your power. That's why you don't want to leave your house." Aki says. "That's…" Says Luca. "If you're left alone, you'll walk the same path as myself. I don't want that to happen to you." Aki says. She turns to leave. "Aki…" Says Luca.
"Wait." Subaru says.
Aki stops and glances over at him.
Subaru's scarlet red eyes are locked on her, intently.
Aki gasps, taken aback by the intensity in this young boy's eyes.
"Where's my mother?" Asks Subaru.
Aki's eyes widen, in bewilderment, and leaves.
Nearby, there's a central section of the building where the hallways border open air, one can look down and see the stories below.
Divine leans on a railing there, waiting for Aki to finish speaking with Luca. "I knew you were here. It's time for the meeting." Divine says. "What are you planning to do with Lua?" Asks Aki. "After he regains consciousness, I'll try to convince him. If we can get Lua on our side, then Luca will also join us." Divine says. "Don't hurt that child anymore." Says Aki. "I know. I no longer need to do that." Divine says. "What about the other two children? What's your plan for them?" Asks Aki. "They're too young to test now. However, they may prove to be quite useful to us. Given who their mother is, anyway." Divine says. Aki is almost trembling at the thought of Sakura's wrath if something were to happen to Subaru and Velvet. "There's something about the boy. I don't know if he has powers or not." Says Aki. "That's why I'm holding off on testing him and his sister, it's too soon due to how young they are. We'll wait until they're a little older." Divine says.
Luca keeps watching Lua, her hands pressed up against the glass and then closes her eyes. "Ancient Fairy Dragon…" Luca thinks to herself.
Thunder crashes in the sky over the dragon's rock, lighting its face, briefly.
Luca's eyes are closed, her hands clasped, in supplication, around her it's dark. "Help me… Help me, Ancient Fairy Dragon." Luca thinks to herself.
The dragon in the rock glows gold and a ghost of it appears in the air. "Luca." Says Ancient Fairy Dragon. "Huh? Ah!" Luca says. It worked. Luca is now standing before the dragon's dark, imprisoning rock. "Luca, I can't help you right now. However, the threat of the Dark Signers is approaching. My servant named Regulus will come meet you. Combine your powers and free me. If you do, I promise to protect you until the end of my life." Says Ancient Fairy Dragon. Her voice echoes into nothingness.
Luca is still standing in her comfortable cell in the Arcadia Building, a window apart from Lua, gazing into space. "Ancient Fairy Dragon… I understand. I'll wait for that moment." Luca thinks to herself. "Lua…" Luca says.
At a fancy apartment building somewhere in Neo Domino. Carly is speaking to the desk clerk. "Why can't you tell me? What's Misty's room?" Asks Carly. "I already told you many times that Misty asked us to turn away unexpected guests." "But we're acquaintances!" Carly says. "If you really know Misty, then wouldn't you know how to contact her?" "That's…" Says Carly.
Flashback. When Carly tries to leave the movie premiere gala, Misty intercepts her at the door. "I can't tell her that I only met her once at a party." Carly thinks to herself, in voice-over. Misty examined her face, eagerly, removing her glasses to gaze into her wide gray eyes. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "Oh, you're…" Misty says. Her outfit consists of two necklaces, an elegant dress of green, white and yellow, and strap-on high-heels.
"Misty!" Says Carly.
"Long time no see." Misty says.
"Misty, do you know her?" "I came here because I wanted to ask you something, but she wouldn't let me in." Says Carly. "Ugh!"
"Kate. I know her. Come. I'll guide you to my home." Misty says.
Carly grins at Kate, tauntingly, who huffs.
Misty's apartment is lit by a dazzling chandelier and everything seems to sparkle.
Carly stands in the doorway, struggling to take it in.
The room is spacious, elegant simplicity, in earth tones. "Sit wherever you like." Says Misty. "Erm, okay!" Carly says.
Outside her window, Carly spots a holographic billboard with one of Misty's modeling gigs playing on it. The billboard is of her nose-to-nose, with a paper mask she's holding up, then lowers it and smiles at the camera. Then Misty is sitting on a grassy plain in a red dress selling perfume.
She soon joins Carly near the couch and chairs, with a tea tray. "It's a lovely place." Says Carly. "It's a sad place because I'm all alone. No matter your lifestyle, life only has meaning if you're with the ones you love. Don't you agree?" Misty asks. "I understand how you feel!" Says Carly. "You're in love, aren't you." Misty says. "Uh, how do you know?" Asks Carly. "It's written on your face." Misty says. She sits and places the tea tray on the coffee table. Carly gasps. "Oh yeah! You do fortune-telling by looking at people's faces." Says Carly. Misty chuckles. "Anyone can tell, even without fortune-telling." Misty says. Carly fidgets. "Really?" Asks Carly. Misty places a teacup and saucer on the table for her. "Here you go." Misty says. "Thank you." Says Carly. "What did you want to ask me?" Misty asks. "It's a little difficult to ask… I'm investigating the Crimson Dragon that appeared during the Fortune Cup. That led me to a duelist named Aki Izayoi. And so, um." Says Carly. "You're investigating Arcadia Movement." Misty says. Carly hands over her booklet. "Yes. And in my documents, you showed up." Says Carly. "What it says here is true. Arcadia Movement killed my younger brother." Misty says. Carly gasps.
Night, at the Arcadia building. Carly peeks out from behind a corner in a light green janitor's uniform, pushing a cart.
Flashback, to the conversation in Misty's apartment as it continued. "My brother went missing after he went to the Daimon Area to watch a duel. He was found a few days later, but he was completely different. Everyone said that it was the work of the witch." Says Misty. "Didn't they investigate Aki Izayoi?" Carly asks. "All they did was ask Arcadia Movement basic questions. And with that, the investigation was over." Says Misty. "But, that was the Public Maintenance Department's chance to crush Arcadia Movement!" Carly says. "Arcadia Movement must have incriminating evidence on the Public Maintenance Department." Says Misty. "Incriminating evidence on the Public Maintenance Department? There is such a thing?" Carly asks. "I don't know, but that's all I can think of." Says Misty. "Huh, a secret that Director Godwin is afraid of…" Carly says. "I…" Says Misty. "Huh?" Carly asks. "I can't forgive the witch. Listen to me. Don't go near Arcadia Movement." Says Misty. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "Though she warned me, I'll lose my connection with Jack if I stop my investigation." Carly thinks to herself.
Divine's office is dark. He's standing at the plate glass window, Aki remains a few steps behind him. "Arcadia Movement will now recruit members from around the world, not just Neo Domino City. You showed everyone the power of psychic dueling during the Fortune Cup. We'll use that to our advantage. Aki, you'll show up at our meetings from now on. You'll be the symbol of Arcadia Movement." Divine says. "I'm going to be a billboard?" Asks Aki. Divine turns and puts a hand on her shoulder, consolingly. "A billboard? You make it sound disrespectful. You'll be the modern-day Joan of Arc, an influential woman who leads a stubborn world on the correct path." Divine says. Aki smiles, slightly, but worry lingers in her eyes.
"Where am I? I feel like I'm walking around the same place over and over. Hunh?" Carly thinks to herself.
Divine opens the door and walks out into the hallway, Aki with him. "Divine and Aki Izayoi!" Carly thinks to herself. Divine closes the door. "Oh, uh! I have to clean over there." Says Carly. "Hey you." Divine says. "Yes?" Asks Carly. "I've never seen you before." Divine says. "Uh, yes. The normal custodian has a fever, so I'm taking her place today." Says Carly. "I see. Good work." Divine says. He and Aki walk away down the hallway.
Carly breathes a sigh of relief. "That scared me." Carly thinks to herself. She looks at the door they came out of. "This is Divine's office." Carly thinks to herself.
Divine's office is a spacious room, with classical sculptures on pedestals spaced along the walls. Janitor clothes tossed aside, Carly is already looking through a book from the bookshelf. "Before interviewing Aki Izayoi, I have to find evidence on Arcadia Movement's crimes." Says Carly. She grabs for another book and it trips a lever, a secret office behind the bookcase. It's a neat, cozy den, two walls lined with bookcases, a third with a high-tech computer console and chair. There's also a file cabinet beside the desk and a phone on the wall. "Ohh! A hidden room!" Carly says.
Divine suddenly frowns, as he and Aki are about to step into the elevator. "Aki, go on ahead." Says Divine. Aki looks back at him, he's smiling, evilly. "I have to exterminate a rat." Divine says. The elevator doors close.
Carly is sitting on her knees on the floor of the tiny hidden office, a book on her lap, notebook in one hand to compare and two more stacks of books on either side of her. "Oh my! After hearing Misty's story, I made a list of missing people. Everyone in this file is missing! Arcadia Movement is actually…" Says Carly. She knocks over a pile of books and starts to pick it back up, then sees a picture on a page of one of the books that tumbled open, it's Rex Godwin. "Director Godwin! No way! Director Godwin is…" Carly says.
"What are you doing?" Asks Divine.
"Divine!" Carly says.
"Just like I thought. A rat sneaked in." Says Divine. As he approaches.
Carly backs away, slipping out of the little office and backing up past the silent marble statues.
"I thought you were working under Godwin's orders, but by the surprised look on your face, I must be mistaken. However, I can't let you leave after what you saw here." Divine says. He picks up a duel disk sitting at the feet of a statue. "Though you're a thieving rat, simply eliminating you would be too boring." Says Divine. He tosses it to Carly. "I'll give you a small amount of hope." Divine says.
"By dueling?" Asks Carly.
"I'll give you one turn. What will you do? Will you give up this small bit of hope?" Divine asks. He activates his duel disk.
"In that case, I know I can do it!" Carly thinks to herself.
Flashback. Ushio, possessed, faces off against Jack and Carly. She slides the duel disk onto his arm and draws their team's cards. "Since that day, I studied dueling a lot!" Carly thinks to herself, in voice-over. The flashback ends.
Vision. Carly, misty-eyed, is seeing pink bubbles. "Because my dream is to stop being a reporter…" Carly thinks to herself, in voice-over.
In her mind's eye, waves crash and foam against rocks where she and Jack stand, he's wearing his duel disk, she's drawing their card and her other arm is cradling a sleeping baby that looks just like him. At their back stands a proud Japanese flag. "And become married duelists with Jack!" Carly thinks to herself, in voice-over. The vision ends.
Back to the present. Carly blushes and sighs, returning to the present. "I accept!" Says Carly. She puts on her duel disk, slots her deck and activates it.
"So you decided to fight." Divine says.
"Duel!" Says both Divine and Carly.
"My turn!" Divine says. He draws. "I summon Telekinetic Shocker." Says Divine.
Telekinetic Shocker has 1700 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "The first player can't attack on the first turn. I end my turn. Now it's your turn. Entertain me with your one remaining turn." Divine says.
"Mmm! My turn! I draw! Gggh!" Says Carly. "'By drawing this card, I'm in super trouble'! This is the worst fortune ever! If the rumors about psychic duelists are true, they deal real damage in battle. Even though my fortune says I have bad luck, I have to keep fighting!" Carly thinks to herself. "I summon Fortune Fairy Swee!" Carly says.
Fortune Fairy Swee has 0 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "Sweee!" Says Fortune Fairy Swee. "Then from my hand, I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Unacceptable Results'! With this card, when I summon a Fortune Fairy, I can summon a different Fortune Fairy from my hand! Appear, Fortune Fairy Chee!" Carly says.
Fortune Fairy Chee has 0 attack points and is a Level 6 monster. "Chee." Says Fortune Fairy Chee. "Then I activate a spell card from my hand! This card lets me Special Summon a Fortune Fairy from my hand whose Level is one lower than a Fortune Fairy on my field! Appear, Fortune Fairy Hu!" Carly says.
Fortune Fairy Hu has 0 attack points and is a Level 3 monster. "Hooo!" Says Fortune Fairy Hu.
"Zero attack points. A woman with the brains of a mouse can't understand how nice I was." Divine says.
"Be quiet! I'm going to make you cry! The Continuous Spell 'Miracle Stone'! With this card, my Fortune Fairies gain one thousand attack points for every Fortune Fairy on the field!" Says Carly. They blow up to about twenty times their usual size and have 3000 attack points each. "However, they can't attack on the turn that they're summoned. I end my turn!" Carly says.
"I see. Now I'm a little excited. My turn. I summon Psychic Snail from my hand!" Says Divine.
Psychic Snail has 1900 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "Then my Quick-Play Spell 'Emergency Teleport'! With this card, I can Special Summon a Level Three-or-below Psychic-Type monster from my hand or deck. The monster I'm bringing out is Psychic Commander!" Divine says.
Psychic Commander has 1400 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.
"He has three monsters on his field. However, all of them have fewer attack points than my monsters!" Carly thinks to herself.
"You think you have a solid defense, but you're wrong! I activate 'Psychokinesis' from my hand! When I have a face up Psychic-Type monster, I can take one thousand points of damage to destroy a card on the field. I destroy 'Miracle Stone', of course!" Says Divine.
Carly's spell is destroyed, her giant fairies go back to being tiny, tiny fairies.
"Now all your monsters' attack points return to zero." Divine says.
"No way!" Says Carly.
"Go, Telekinetic Shocker!" Divine says.
"Aaaah!" It destroys Fortune Fairy Swee and strikes through to hit Carly, her glasses go flying, one lens broken and she is slammed against the window behind her, hard enough to crack it. Instead of collapsing to the floor, she is held suspended against the window, several feet from the floor and her life points now at 2300. "Why did I feel an impact?" Asks Carly.
"This is the power of a psychic duel. Enjoy it. Psychic Snail!" Divine says.
Fortune Fairy Hu is the next to go. Carly is shocked again and the window cracks further. She is beginning to truly fear for her life. "If you keep doing this, Security will investigate you." Says Carly.
"Don't worry. You'll be treated as an accidental death. The Public Maintenance Department can't touch us." Divine says.
The file Carly found about Godwin is still lying on the floor.
"As long as I know Godwin's secret." Says Divine.
"Director Godwin's secret?" Carly asks.
"They say that he created Satellite, but that's a total lie." Says Divine. He looks beyond Carly, spread-eagled against the cracked glass, out the plate glass window at the glowing cityscape of Neo Domino.
Divine continues to speak, as a visual accompanies his words. The Satellite's factories bide across the murky sea, their smokestacks wisping smog into the already polluted sky. Against a black background, the ever-enigmatic director smiles over his shoulder and keeps his mouth closed. "When Satellite was created, he was stuck inside. He's actually from Satellite." Divine says, in voice-over.
"What?" Asks Carly.
"Goodbye. Go, Psychic Commander!" Divine says.
Fortune Fairy Chee is the final fairy to go and the attack blasts Carly through the window into the night sky. Her life points sink to 0 as she falls, almost in slow motion, through the air, past a billboard that shows the same ad featuring Misty that she saw earlier from the wall of her apartment.
Flashback. Misty removes Carly's glasses and looks deep into her eyes. "I see death." Says Misty. She points, authoritatively, a prophetess. The flashback ends.
Back to the present. "No… way…" Carly thinks to herself. She keeps falling, eyes wide, with shock, beyond the billboard and down towards the pavement below.
