Chapter 13: Descend! The Two Earthbound Immortals!

The tops of buildings in Neo Domino City and down to Jack, who's racing down a freeway on his D-Wheel, with Grim lying at his feet in front of him. "Wah!" Jack says. With that, he leaps the side of the freeway and jumps one of the walls of purple fire on the street below, he is now inside the boundaries of one of the Dark Signs. Jack skids to a stop down the street from another boundary and looks at his right arm, still glowing, then forward.

Ahead, beyond another wall of fire, the Arcadia building stands.

Jack keeps driving, turning the corner.

Inside the Arcadia Building. "Your mentor Divine, the one who tortured and defiled your damned Host, will soon be gone." Says Misty. Her life points stand at 3300.

Aki's at 4000. Her Black Rose Dragon hovers in the air, turned to tan stone. "Divine?" Aki asks.

"If you want to rescue him, you have to defeat me first. If you're capable of defeating me, that is." Says Misty.

"Rrrgh!" Aki growls under her breath.

"Black Rose Witch, it's your turn." Misty says.

"My turn!" Says Aki. She draws.

"Due to Reptilianne Gorgon's effect, your Black Rose Dragon turned into stone and has zero attack points. However, as long as 'Savage Colosseum' is on the field, monsters in attack position must attack." Misty says.

"Huh?" Asks Aki.

"But since it's turned into stone, it can't move. Reptilianne Gorgon, send Black Rose Dragon to the grave!" Misty says.

Gorgon attacks and cracks start to show on Black Rose Dragon's stone exterior, pouring white light. It shatters.

Aki shields her eyes and notices the arm she's shielding them with. Her life points read 2500 and a rip can be seen in her glove across the wrist she just shielded herself with. "This power rivals the power of psychic dueling." Says Aki.

"Psychic dueling is far weaker than the power of the Dark Signers. Hmhmhmhm. What's wrong? Why do you look so surprised? Is it unusual that there's a duel that's more terrifying than psychic duels? Show me your power, Black Rose Witch! Your magical power that spreads fear among the people!" Misty says.

"Due to 'Savage Colosseum's effect, I gain three hundred life points for every monster that battles!" Says Aki. Her life points increase to 2800 from the effect of 'Savage Colosseum'. "My attack is only beginning! I activate my trap 'Synchro Spirits'! By removing a Synchro Monster in my graveyard from play, I can Special Summon its Synchro Material Monsters. By removing Black Rose Dragon from play, I Special Summon Twilight Rose Knight and Lord Poison." Aki says.

Twilight Rose Knight has 1000 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.

Lord Poison has 1500 attack points and is a Level 4 monster. "Next, I activate a trap! With 'Dimension Reversion', all monsters that were removed from play return to the deck. Black Rose Dragon is back in my deck." Says Aki.

"That's fine. If you keep bringing out Black Rose Dragon, I'll keep destroying it." Misty says.

"I activate the trap card 'Urgent Tuning'. I can Synchro Summon one Synchro Monster during the Battle Phase! Level Three Twilight Rose Knight tunes Level Four Lord Poison!" Says Aki.

Once again, Twilight Rose Knight and Lord Poison form green rings and shining stars.

"The cold flame envelops the entire world. Black flower, bloom! Synchro Summon! Appear, Black Rose Dragon!" Aki says.

Black Rose Dragon has 2400 attack points and is a Level 7 monster. "When Black Rose Dragon is successfully Synchro Summoned, all cards on the field are destroyed." Says Aki.

Black Rose Dragon roars, winds and petals destroy Gorgon and all of Misty's equip spells. The only thing left is 'Colosseum', because 'Field Barrier', now destroyed, protected it. Lastly, Black Rose Dragon herself is destroyed.

"You were willing to destroy your own Black Rose Dragon in order to destroy my field. It feels great that the Black Rose Witch is taking me seriously. However, due to 'Field Barrier's' effect, Black Rose Dragon's effect can't destroy 'Savage Colosseum'." Misty says.

"I don't know why you despise me. However, I do know one thing. You are seriously trying to kill me. That means, I also have to battle seriously!" Says Aki.

"You've always been doing that in duels!" Misty says.

"Huh?" Asks Aki.

"In order to protect yourself, you keep destroying. You don't care how many people are hurt. You made them feel hopeless. It's about time you feel the same thing!" Misty says.

"Made them feel hopeless?" Asks Aki.

"Yes. You made me and my younger brother feel hopeless." Misty says.

"I don't know your brother!" Says Aki.

"That's true. My brother means nothing to you. You killed my brother!" Misty says.

She's got her there, Aki freezes. "What?" Asks Aki.

Luca is still watching over Lua in a comfy, but locked, room somewhere deep in the Arcadia Building, when a bump startles her. "Huh?" Luca asks. Someone is trying to break down the door to her room.

Velvet, woken up by the noise, sits up and rubs the sleep from her eyes. Subaru stands up from the couch, standing next to her.

After three more loud thumps, Himuro crashes through on top of it. Yanagi's behind him. "Luca! Velvet! Subaru!" Says Yanagi.

Luca's arm is also glowing. "Yanagi!" Luca says. "You're all okay!" Says Yanagi.

Himuro looks through the window to see Lua, lying on the floor on the other side. "Lua!" Himuro says.

Luca and Velvet are hugging Yanagi.

"Kids and Grandpa, move!" Says Himuro. He picks up the small couch.

Yanagi, Luca, Velvet and Subaru all back up.

Himuro lifts it over his head and breaks the window.

Lua starts to wake up. Himuro shakes Lua's shoulder. "Lua! Wake up!" Himuro says. "Huh? Himuro?" Asks Lua. "Are you okay? You're not hurt, right?" Himuro asks. "Yeah. I… Oh yeah." Says Lua.

Flashback. Divine's Thought Ruler Archfiend launches its final attack and Lua hits the back wall of the arena, hard, and falls to the ground. "I lost in a duel against Divine." Lua says, in voice-over. "Yaaa-aaah! Ugghhh!" The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "How's Luca? And Velvet and Subaru, are they okay?" Asks Lua. "We're right in front of your eyes." Luca says. "Luca! Velvet! Subaru! You're all okay!" Says Lua. "Sheesh, that's what I'm supposed to say." Luca says, slightly affronted. "But, why am I here?" Asks Lua. "I don't know, but it's dangerous to stay here. We still need to find where they're holding Sakura." Himuro says. "Yeah, let's go find her and escape right away!" Says Yanagi. "Luca, can you use your sign to find where she is?" Lua asks. "I'm sure I could, I'll try." Says Luca. She then focus on her sign to see if she can locate where Sakura is, it works. "I know where she is, but we need to hurry. I think she's hurt, I can almost feel her pain." Luca says. "Where is she?" Asks Himuro. "She's being held in a room a floor down from us. If we get going, I can sense where she is." Luca says. "Then let's go." Says Lua. "Lead the way, Luca." Yanagi says.

Luca soon leads them down the stairs to the next floor, she then stops near a door. Velvet and the guys stop behind her. Luca places her hands on the door. "She's in this one, guys." Says Luca. "Okay, get back." Himuro says. He slams himself against the door, making it fall over in three tries. Luca gasps and runs over to where Sakura's lying. "Sakura." Says Luca.

Velvet and Subaru's eyes both widen and run over to their mother. "Mommy." Velvet says.

The guys join them. Himuro unties Sakura's bonds and tries shaking her awake. "Come on, doll. You have to wake up." Says Himuro. Sakura winces, in severe pain. "Himuro, stop shaking her. The poor child is hurt." Yanagi says. "Yeah, I know. She's barely moving at all, but she's still breathing." Says Himuro. "Hey, you guys, there's a lot of blood on the floor." Lua says. Yanagi and Himuro look around and notice the blood that's seeped into the carpet. "Yanagi, can you move her hair." Says Himuro. Yanagi moves Sakura's hair out of the way and they finally notice the damage done to her body, mainly to her back, from the whip. Luca then touches her sign on her arm. "Sakura, please wake up. Us Signers need you." Luca says. Just like that, Sakura's signs, symbolic designs and additional markings start glowing, slowly.

"Luca…" Says Sakura, weakly. Her eyes open, slowly. "Oh, your awake." Lua says. "Yeah, but she's hurt. Pretty badly." Says Himuro. He and Yanagi help Sakura to sit up, she's covering up her breasts with her arms. "Come on, we have to get out of here before this place comes down." Yanagi says. "Hey doll, can you walk on your own?" Asks Himuro. Sakura tries to get up, but she's in too much pain to even move and nearly falls over. "Doll!" Himuro says, worriedly. He catches Sakura halfway, sort of bringing her down to the floor. "Sakura!" Says both Lua and Luca, concerned. "Mommy!" Velvet says, sadly. Subaru's in almost a state of shock. "Dear child, are you alright?" Says Yanagi, worriedly. "She's hurt, bad. We need to get you out of here and get you help. Here Yanagi, help me get 'er up." Himuro says. He and Yanagi both grab a hold of each of Sakura's arms and pull her up to her feet, carefully. Luca helps her with her clothes, which makes the pain spread more. "Now, lets get out of here." Says Yanagi. They all make a run for it.

"My brother went to see you duel at the Daimon Area and died." Misty says.

"I don't know. I don't know your brother. I never met a young boy at that duel arena!" Says Aki.

"That boy admired you. He was just a child. You have a power. You're superior to others and can rule over them. You could have used that power to save people!" Misty says.

"I don't have the power to save people! I only have a cursed power that keeps hurting me." Says Aki.

Running down the stairs, Luca's face is illuminated red as she stares at her mark. Sakura's does the same, but Yanagi and Himuro aren't holding onto her anymore.

"What's wrong, Luca?" Lua asks. "Mother?" Asks Subaru.

"Someone is dueling. This deck…" Luca says. Sakura closes her eyes. "Aki?" Asks Sakura. She runs down the stairs past her children and friends, and off in the opposite direction.

Luca runs after Sakura.

"Mommy!" Velvet says. "Luca!" Says Lua. "Wait! It's dangerous!" Himuro says. They run after them.

"You're a fool. You're a foolish girl that only uses her powers for herself. If you never existed, he would still be… I don't forgive you! I came back in order to get my revenge! It's your turn!" Says Misty.

Sakura runs onto the landing opposite of the duel, Luca trailing close behind her. "Aki…" Luca says.

"I set one card and end my turn." Says Aki.

Velvet, Subaru, Lua, Yanagi and Himuro join Luca and Sakura. "Aki Izayoi?" Himuro asks. "Who's the opponent?" Asks Lua.

"My turn!" Misty says. As she draws, they see the dark sign on her arm.

"That mark is…" Says Luca.

Flashback. In Luca's dream, standing there smoldering with shadows is a massive lizard glowing with green markings, fighting beside Ccapac Apu. "The evil god that fought against the Crimson Dragon!" Luca says, in voice-over. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "So she's a Dark Signer that Yusei was talking about?" Asks Himuro. "But isn't that Misty? That's Misty, the top model in the world!" Yanagi says. Everyone else, but Sakura, reacts with a huge gasp, what the heck! She winces, in pain, and reaches for her arm. "What's wrong, Mommy?" Asks Velvet. "This burning sensation… No, this only happens when…" Sakura thinks to herself.

Then out of nowhere, she suddenly gets knocked down to the floor, roughly.

Luca, Lua, Subaru, Velvet, Himuro and Yanagi look on, horrified. "Sakura!" Luca says, worriedly.

Sakura winces, deeply, and looks up, seeing Kiryu standing over her. "Kyosuke!" Says Sakura. "Hello beautiful, miss me?" Kiryu asks, sarcastically. Sakura tries to get back up to her feet, only for her to be sent back down to the floor. Kiryu's holding her down on the floor, her arms pinned to either side of her. He has his body pressed closely against Sakura's. "Doesn't this bring back memories, Sakura? Does it still feel the same way it did back then?" Asks Kiryu. Sakura brings her attention up to him. "What are you talking about, Kyosuke?" Sakura asks. Kiryu's smirking. "Don't you remember what happened on that stormy night? Oh, that's right. You pretty much passed out from the lack of blood, you'd regain consciousness only it never lasted long." Says Kiryu. Sakura closes her eyes and tilts her head to the side, as he moves his face closer to hers. "I can still remember the way your body trembled under my touch and the way you squirmed underneath me, or tried to anyway. I can feel you trembling now." Kiryu says, whispering into Sakura's ear. She seems to be trying to hold back tears, she knows very well what he's talking about. "Oh, don't worry. I already took your innocence, three years ago. Jack can have whatever's left of you. Eyehehehehehehehehehe!" Says Kiryu, whispering into Sakura's ear. He licks at the marking under her left eye and face, sinisterly.

Kiryu then releases his hold on Sakura and steps away from her, pleased with himself.

Sakura manages to sit herself up, only she seems very distraught.

Then, just as sudden as he came, Kiryu's gone.

Sakura soon regains her composure, gets up to her feet and walks back over to Himuro, Yanagi and both sets of twins. "Who was that?" Himuro asks. "He's a Dark Signer. His name is Kyosuke." Says Sakura. "What did he say to you?" Himuro asks. "It isn't important." Says Sakura. She then brings her attention over to the duel.

"From my hand, I activate the spell card 'Reptilianne Spawn'. By removing a Reptilianne monster in my graveyard from play, I can Special Summon two Reptilianne Tokens." Misty says.

The Reptilianne Tokens have 0 attack points and are Level 1 monsters.

"Next, I release the two Tokens. I offer this soul to the god that resurrected me!" Says Misty. Her cheek markings and eyes start to glow purple. "You're released from your long curse! Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua!" Misty says.

The two Reptilianne Tokens form into a single ball of energy, float out the plate glass window down the hall and form an Earthbound-Immortal-summoning 'fist' in the sky, like before. The very air ripples out from them and the ground begins to rumble.

Jack, Sakura, Luca, Aki and Yusei moan as one as their signs burn.

"This feels the same as that time with Kiryu!" Says Yusei.

Luca and Sakura's group is rocked around by the earthquake, they are more worried about their marks, as the other five fight to stay standing. After a moment more, a wave of red light emanates from Luca's mark, forming a protective bubble around herself, Lua, Yanagi and Himuro, they're safe. Sakura has her own protection, which is the Crimson Dragon itself, which expands its power to not only protect its Host, but Subaru and Velvet, as well. "What is this?" Himuro asks. "What's happening?" Asks Lua. "I don't know. But, I can sense that this light is protecting us!" Luca says.

Outside the building, a crowd has gathered at the foot of the Arcadia building. "What?" "What's that?"

High above, against the signs in the sky, is the floating fist of a yet-to-be-summoned Earthbound Immortal.

Cars are stopped in the street, unable to move because of the burning signs on the ground. Everyone can only stand and watch, as the object in the sky begins to pulse with shadowy lights.

Bommer looks up, glances out the window of the shuttle when someone starts screaming.

The Earthbound Immortal is sucking up souls. Both of the Security officers in charge of Bommer's van are among the first to go.

"What's happening?" Asks Bommer.

Outside, everyone is screaming, cringing, rooted to the spot and glowing a steadily brighter violet. Little streams of purple light are flying through the air toward the thing in the sky from all over the ground enclosed by the signs.

Jack sees the lights. "This is the same as before." Jack says.

Souls are flying through the air inside the building, too.

The spectators watch in awe through their bubble.

Sakura has the Crimson Dragon protecting her and her children, who are clinging to her legs, shielding her, Subaru and Velvet with some sort of power.

Aki shields her face, bewildered. "What's this?" Asks Aki.

"Don't worry. An Earthbound Immortal can't take a Signer's soul. At least, not until the shadow duel is complete." Misty says.

The fist in the sky shoots a beam of light from ground to clouds and in the resulting dust cloud, a massive, hunched figure can be seen.

Jack brakes, rapidly, sheltering his eyes from the dust and is the first to see it when he looks up after the dust clears. His eyes go wide, while Grim just growls at the thing. "What's this?" Asks Jack.

The building is shaking again. "Where is it? Where's the monster you summoned?" Aki asks.

"It's already right behind you." Says Misty.

Shocked, Aki hears a sound behind her. She hardly dares to look.

For a moment the window is black. Then, it is filled with a green disc larger than the window is wide, as Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua opens the eye that's looking through the window at Aki.

She recoils, in horror, a hand to her mouth, eyes huge. "Aaaaagh! What is this monster?" Aki asks.

It is a lizard nearly as tall as the building when it stands on its hind legs, as it's doing now. It is black, with green glowing markings. It grasps each side of the building with a webbed front foot, its face pressed up against the window of the floor on which the duel is happening. It swivels its massive head, its eyes are globes that protrude from the top of its head and its grin of teeth, glowing completely green, is disturbing. It opens its mouth, throws back its head and roars its triumph, flaring with light. Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua has 2800 attack points and is a Level 10 monster.

"It seems the other duel is almost complete." Says Misty.

"Huh?" Aki asks.

They hear Divine scream out, in pain, which echoes down from above, from the sound of it, his duel is going badly.

"Divine?" Asks Aki.

Yusei's still standing in the yard out behind Martha's house. "If an Earthbound Immortal appears in the City, there will be many casualties." Yusei thinks to himself. He closes his eyes, tightly, he can hardly bear to think about it. "But in my current state, I can't do anything! I'm sorry Sakura, but I just don't think I have it in me anymore!" Yusei thinks to himself.

Bommer hears a helicopter descend and land near his prison shuttle, lighting up the windows. The lock on the back door of the vehicle explodes and the door opens on nonstop bright light.

Bommer stands up, there's a silhouette in the light approaching him. "Who is it?" Bommer asks. The hooded figure has two marks down his face, too dark to be tracking dye, accenting his square jaw and the gauntness of his cheeks. "My name is Demak." Demak raises his duel disk, he's the Dark Signer with the yellow markings accenting his black robes. He throws a card, the spell 'Ax of Despair', and it breaks the chains binding Bommer's arms and legs. "Bommer, if the flame of revenge still burns in your heart, then come with me." Says Demak. Bommer frowns, will he accept?

The propeller of Demak's helicopter can be seen as it keeps spinning.

Back to the Arcadia building as it keeps shaking. Divine's on the floor, hands and knees. The duel is where it was left before. Divine appears a bit unnerved, but mostly unharmed. "What's going on?" Divine asks.

"I'm preparing to plunge you into eternal darkness." Says Carly.

"What?" Divine asks.

"Our duel hasn't been completed yet. If you don't want to die, then fight!" Says Carly.

Divine scowls, in response, and gets to his feet, slightly stiff. He has 1800 life points remaining.

"I'll give you a chance, but only one turn!" Carly says. Her life points stand at 4000. "Entertain me, Divine." Says Carly.

"Dark Signer… Her power is stronger than a psychic duelist's. However, her power only activates during a duel. That means it'll only last until I win the duel! There's a reason why I'm the leader of Arcadia Movement!" Divine thinks to himself. "My turn!" Divine says. He draws. "Her Field Spell 'Future Visions' is a fearsome card that sends a summoned monster into the future. If I just summon a monster, it won't stay on my field. However, there's something I can do. That effect only activates when I Normal Summon. In that case…" Divine thinks to himself. He looks at his card. "I activate the Continuous Spell 'Teleport' from my hand! When you have a monster on your field when I have none, I can Special Summon a Psychic-Type monster from my hand once per turn by paying eight hundred life points. I Special Summon Storm Caller!" Says Divine. His life points are now 1000.

Storm Caller is a big guy, with a large satellite dish mounted on his shoulders and other gizmos around his waist. Storm Caller has 2300 attack points and is a Level 6 monster. "Next up is the Equip Spell 'Premature Burial'! By paying eight hundred life points, I Special Summon a monster from the graveyard and equip it with this card!" Divine says. His life points are 200. "I resurrect Magical Android!" Says Divine.

Magical Android has 2400 attack points and is a Level 5 monster. "How's that? Since it was a Special Summon, 'Future Visions's effect doesn't activate." Divine says.

Carly is still smiling. "Hm." Says Carly.

"Go, Storm Caller! Attack Fortune Lady Fire!" Divine says.

"I activate my trap! 'Slip of Fortune'! When your monster attacks, by removing my attacked monster from play, your monster's attack is negated!" Says Carly. Fortune Lady Fire disappears.

"So you got rid of your own defending monster. However, my Magical Android can still attack! Magical Android, attack her directly!" Divine says.

Carly takes it and is down to 1600 life points.

"Next, I summon Psychic Commander!" Says Divine.

Psychic Commander has 1400 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.

"'Future Visions's' effect activates! When you summon a monster, that monster is sent into the future until your next turn!" Carly says.

"It's now the End Phase. I activate Magical Android's effect. I gain life points equal to the number of Psychic-Type monsters on my field multiplied by six hundred points." Says Divine. His life points rise to 1400. "Our life points are about equal. However, my Psychic Commander that was sent into the future will return on the next turn. I can tune Psychic Commander with Magical Android. That will let me Synchro Summon the most powerful monster in my deck, Thought Ruler Archfiend! I'll win this duel!" Divine thinks to himself.

"Mm. My turn!" Carly says. She draws. "Due to the effects of 'Future Visions' and 'Slip of Fortune', Fortune Lady Light and Fortune Lady Fire return to my field!" Says Carly.

Fortune Lady Light has 200 attack points and is a Level 1 monster.

Fortune Lady Fire has 400 attack points and is a Level 2 monster. "Next, I release the two Fortune Ladies!" Carly says.

They combine into a blob of multicolored light and drift out the broken window, on the opposite side of the building from where Ccarayhua already towers. Air ripples out from the blob as it forms into, yes, another Earthbound-Immortal-summoning fist.

The building shakes again and Divine nearly falls over. "Again?" Asks Divine.

The dark sign on Carly's arm glows as she raises a card aloft. "After five thousand years, the door to the afterlife opens again!" Carly says. Her eyes start to glow purple. "Our souls will feed the new world! Descend, Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu!" Says Carly.

The sheer power emanating from her duel disk forces Divine back against the wall. "You fool! Though you act superior, you're still a third-rate duelist! When you Advanced Summoned, your summoned monster vanishes due to the effect of your own 'Future Visions'!" Divine says.

"I told you that I'm giving you a chance, but only for one turn." Says Carly.

"What?" Divine asks.

"Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu's effect activates! When this monster leaves the field, all your monsters are destroyed. And for every monster that's destroyed, you take eight hundred points of damage!" Says Carly.

"What? Ah, where's the monster you summoned?" Divine asks. Just then, he hears the unnatural cry of a bird behind him.

Outside the window looms a massive, angular hummingbird, black glowing with orange markings. It's staring right at Divine, its huge glowing eyes like a pair of bright street lamps. Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu has 2500 attack points and is a Level 10 monster.

Divine has turned around to gawk. "No way! That's a gigantic monster!" Says Divine.

"Divine, vanish into eternal darkness!" Carly says.

Aslla Piscu lunges in with its long, pointy beak.

Divine yells, in terror.

And it echoes down the building.

Aki wails again or perhaps we're up to where we left her earlier. "Divine!" Says Aki, wailing.

Divine's monsters shatter, as he stands before the window, transfixed by what's about to hit him, shouting.

Outside, Aslla Piscu's beak hits the building, taking out the windows on the adjacent floors as well and starting a fire that eats into that story of the building, rapidly.

Inside, the empty space several floors up from Aki and Misty's duel fills with fog and smoke. Among pieces of debris, Divine falls right down through the center of the building.

Aki looks up, shocked and horrified, and can only watch as he falls past her. "Divine!" Aki says.

Divine's fallen into the dark abyss, he's gone.

Aki stands at the railing, staring after him as he plummets to his death below.

Luca's protective shield seems to have faded, as has Sakura's, and the walls are starting to show cracks. Himuro looks around. "Ugh, this is bad!" Says Himuro. "You two get the children out of here now!" Sakura says. "But Sakura, your so badly hurt." Says Luca. "Don't worry about me, go!" Sakura says. She then runs into the direction Aki was dueling.

Himuro grabs both sets of twins, two in each arm and runs, Yanagi at his heels.

Small chunks are starting to fall from the ceiling.

"I'll have to settle my battle with you some other time." Says Misty.

Himuro's still carrying both sets of twins. "Aki, run!" Himuro says, yelling. "Himuro, if we don't hurry up and escape, we're in danger too!" Says Yanagi.

"Damn!" Himuro says. He runs after Yanagi.

Larger chunks start to fall from the ceiling.

But before Aki almost gets buried under a big bunch of falling debris, Sakura pulls her out of the way, making them both fall away from the area and disappear into a clog of smoke.

Outside. Ccarayhua roars and draws away from the building.

Aslla Piscu extracts its beak.

They both sink back into the purple mist below. The glowing mist vanishes, leaving the night more or less normal again.

Himuro and Yanagi run out the front door, with the former carrying Lua and Subaru on his back, while the latter is piggybacking Luca and Velvet.

Jack rides up and joins them. "Jack!" Himuro says. "What happened?" Asks Jack. "I don't know. A Dark Signer battled against Aki Izayoi." Himuro says. Jack looks down, bitterly. "Like I thought, a Dark Signer. Where's Aki?" Asks Jack. "Still inside." Himuro says. "What?" Asks Jack, angrily. He keeps riding, toward the front door.

"Hey! Wait, Jack! It's too dangerous! Come back!" Himuro says.

The top of the Arcadia building is in flames.

Inside. Jack races through corridor after wrecked corridor, all of the lights have gone out. He comes to a halt, Grim then gets up and steps off of the D-Wheel. "Is anyone here? If you are, answer me!" Says Jack. Just then, something on the ground catches his eye. "Huh?" Jack asks. It's Carly's glasses, gleaming on the floor amidst the rubble. The fall doesn't seem to have damaged them any more than they were when they flew off her face earlier. Jack picks them up, gently. "These glasses… Can it be?" Asks Jack.

Flashback, to the tower at sunset. Jack looked over his shoulder and there was Carly with her big, round glasses, willing to listen and support him. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "Carly…" Jack says. He looks around for Carly. "Carly! Are you here, Carly?" Asks Jack, calling out for her.

More chunks of the ceiling start falling.

"Jack..." Sakura says, weakly and exhausted.

"Huh?" Asks Jack.

Sakura is lying on her side against chunks of fallen debris, she's barely able to move herself.

"Sakura!" Jack says. He runs over to Sakura, kneeling down to one knee beside her. Jack lifts her and holds her close to himself, gently.

Grim walks up to them and lies down beside Sakura, with his head lying on her lap. Her eyes open, slowly, and she looks up at Jack, exhausted. "What happened?" Asks Jack. "Divine beat me, whipped me and raped me unmercifully. A building that was collapsing, with the addition of Dark Signers…" Sakura says. She winces, in severe pain. "Hey, easy on yourself. I need to get you out of here." Says Jack. He's noticing how much pain Sakura's truly in. "I wish I could've gotten here sooner. I need to get you out of here now." Jack says. He tries to move Sakura, but she stops him. "No, we have to get Aki out of here, as well." Says Sakura. "I'll come back for her. Just let me get you out of here first." Jack says. "No, don't you get it. She isn't safe here. Especially with Dark Signers still lingering around. Kyosuke was here, as well." Says Sakura. "What?" Jack asks. Sakura closes her eyes. "Jack, I need to know something." Says Sakura. She then opens her eyes and looks up at Jack. "Did Kyosuke rape me that night, three years ago?" Sakura asks. Jack closes his eyes and lowers his head, sorrowfully. Sakura sighs. "He did, didn't he?" Asks Sakura. Jack looks down at her. "Yes. When Crow and I found you that night, we knew instantly. I'm sorry, I wish I could've stopped it from happening. You really didn't know, did you?" Jack asks. "No, I think deep down I knew. I just didn't want it to be true." Says Sakura. A single tear suddenly sheds down her cheek, only she wipes it away. "I guess my speculations were right. Kyosuke Kiryu really is Subaru and Velvet's father." Sakura says. She tries getting herself up, but her back and other injures cause her to fall back down, making her wince in quite a deal of pain. "Sakura." Says Jack, concerned. He then helps Sakura up, carefully, and keeps her standing to her feet, having her lean on him. Grim gets up and leans up against her, for support. Sakura pats at his head, lightly.

They suddenly hear a moan and look around. Aki is lying face down on the ground, the worse for wear.

Jack shakes her shoulder, she's barely conscious. "Aki!" Jack says. He lifts Aki and cradles her in his arms. "Hang in there!" Says Jack. He lets Sakura, using Grim for support, walk ahead of him. "Carly! Damn!" Jack says. He leaves, taking Aki with him, following after Sakura and Grim, as the building keeps disintegrating on itself.

On an outside balcony somewhere that has so far escaped the damage, Carly walks out of the building. Her eyes are back to normal, she looks confused and worried. Carly seems to be back to herself. "What happened? Did I really…" Carly says. She remembers. "Ahh!" Carly puts her hands to her head. "Did I really do something that horrible? Huh? What's this duel disk? What's this mark?" Asks Carly. She falls to her knees. "Jack! Help me, Jack!" Carly says. She's crying, forehead to the pavement.

"Carly, this is your destiny." Says Misty.

Carly looks up.

Misty appears out of a cloud of smoke from the building. The smoke is billowing around their feet on the balcony. "Misty?" Carly asks. Misty walks to the newest Dark Signer, as she sits on the ground, trembling. "You were chosen, just like me." Says Misty. "Chosen?" Carly asks. "Yes. We were chosen by the god of death. The moment death visited you…" Says Misty.

Flashback. Carly crashes through the window and stares back through it, in shock, as she falls, terrified, towards the pavement below. "You strongly wished that you didn't want to die." Misty says, in voice-over. Carly crashes through a grating of some sort down below, leaving a body-sized crater in the ground, right into the sign of the hummingbird. "The god granted our wishes." Says Misty, in voice-over. The flashback ends.

Back to the present. "We're no longer inhabitants of this world. This mark is proof." Misty says. "No… It can't be true!" Says Carly. She keeps crying, Misty kneels and puts a hand on her shoulder. "It's fine. It's too much to take in right now. However, you'll understand your own destiny soon enough." Misty says. She hugs Carly, who keeps crying into her shoulder. "It's fine. I'll help you cope for now." Says Misty.

Above them, a helicopter is descending, scattering the smoke. The sky is beginning to light up with the beginnings of dawn.
