AN: Merlin's POV

It took me a moment to actually processed what she had just said. "Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked.

It's actually kind of funny, looking back. I was so ready to give up everything for her, yet I doubted her when she wanted to do that same for me.

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life," Primrose replied, "Just one more thing."

"Anything," I replied, holding her hands tight in my own.

"Marry me," She said, "Marry me when we get there, please."

It wasn't that I didn't want, to I did, I really did, but I was so...surprised, for lack of a better word that I was silent. But had I been able to move my mouth, I would have said yes. I was trying to say yes but I couldn't get my mouth to move. I couldn't help but wonder if this was how women feel when their on the receiving end of a proposal: So, so happy but stunned at the same time.

It took Prim starting to look upset for me to find my voice again.

"Yes," I said, ecstatic, "Yes, my love, of course, a thousand time yes!"

I pulled her close to my chest and hugged then she pushed away and said, "I know we can do better than a hug."

Taking that cue I kissed her. I kissed for about a full minute, and in that minute-long kiss I could feel the passion between us, the love, I knew this was right.

When we finally broke the kiss, Primrose said, "Now we just need to find Dr. Guinean and tell them what's going on. He might be a little confused tomorrow otherwise."

"Alright," I said, but really, I would've gone anywhere she wanted at that moment. "That shouldn't be too hard."

It was hard. For one thing the Private Science Guild is a maze of hallways, and there was no one there at that hour. We wound up walking into a restricted area and were nearly shot by a security guard. Fortunately we explained that we were lost and he helped us find Dr. Gunian.

"I'm assuming you two have a good reason for roaming the facility in the middle of the night," Dr. Gunian said, pulling up two chairs to the front of his desk, and then sitting down behind it.

"We do," Primrose said, "You see, we didn't think it was relevant when you picked us up, but be in Merlin have been...involved."

Dr. Gunian raised his eyebrows. "Involved how?"

Taking turns talking we told him the whole story. About the Tracker Jackers, the Mutt, the things we did in the aftermath of the Mutt-minus our little escapade in the lake-why weren't there when they came to pick us up, me offering to stay with her, her counter offer and proposal.

When we finished, Dr. Guninan rubbed his chin in thought. "You do realized, Ms. Everdeen-Melark," He began, "That this is a one way ride? If you leave with him, you won't be able to come back."

"Believe me, I know," Primrose said, "But out of the two of us I'm most logical choice to make the sacrifice. My parents are dead, there's no other family, and I live in near-complete isolation, so no friends."

"I thought you had a brother," Dr. Gunian said, "Michael, Martin, something with an m..."

"Monroe," Primrose cut him off, "After one of my grandfathers. But we're estranged."

"Well, if you're certain," Dr. Guninan said, "You can go with them. But even with all that you said, are there any affairs you need to put in order?'

"Well," Primrose began, "I know I just said we were estranged, but I should go to Monroe and tell him what's happened, and say goodbye, you know?"

Dr. Gunian nodded.

"He lives in the New Capitol, he has to for his job," Primrose continued, "It shouldn't take more than a day. But I'd also like to just visit my parents graves, one last time...that might take a little longer."

"We can hold off that long," Dr. Guninan assured her, "I'll have a hovercraft take you out in the morning. Until then I suggested you both get some sleep. You've got a long couple of days ahead of you."

After that we took Dr. Guninan's advice and went back to our room. We were pulling back the sheets on our bed when Primrose said, "Merle?"

I turned around. "What?"

"You're okay with me going off tomorrow, right?" She asked.

"Of course," I replied, "I understand, you have to say goodbye. And I was able to function before you came along," I joked, then became serious," I'd never ask you not to." And with that I got into the bed.

"You know," Primrose said, "Since we're engaged it kind of seems silly for us to sleep in different beds."

I chuckled a little. "Alright," I said, patting the bed, " Come here."

She laid down and wrapped her arms around her and we quickly fall asleep.
