Hey everyone, happy Friday, and time for a update, along with a new soundtrack for this chapter. I've been waiting to post this chapter for a long time now and listen to the soundtrack when writing this chapter. Everything became synced so well and fast paced sometimes, even at the best moments of the chapter and music. Ooh you're going to love it! Here's the link, watch?v=cDyAouw3nUw and enjoy it. :)
Chapter 16: Electrifying Encounters
Eyes shifted around constantly in alert with the occasional glance over the shoulder. The sound of people creating music from their chatter grew loudly for one to not hear themselves speak to others or think in their heads. The bright neon lights of the electronic billboards and signs became like a star as they were like a second sun up on the buildings creating an endless day after dark. How could anyone sleep from this? That was a question the Ninja had to ask together. A teen in a red ninja attire glanced over his shoulder to have his chocolate eyes meet with an advertising sign that moved from the many flickering bulbs until they all brightened to a white glow to make him wince to the intensity to quickly turn away. "Why!?" he grimaced while trying to blink the light out of his retinas. "Out of all places, why here!? It's not like Garmadon or Serpentine would attack in a populated area... Would they?"
The white ninja had his dark blue eyes brightened and focused as he scanned the area carefully for signs of danger that had sent the team, except for Jay, to Ninjago Square. Odd name for it didn't seem connected with a square, but more a large rectangular block with streets crisscrossing in many directions. He had to agree with his brother as it was uncanny for a dark lord or Serpentine tribe to attack in a large gathering of people, but something triggered their alarms to send them to this specific location. "I don't know, Kai." he replied while tapping a finger on the holster attached to his waist of his shurikens. "But be alert. We can never expect the odds of it coming."
Staggering, that was all he felt. Drained even. Not enough energy to sustain himself than before. He wanted to leave Ninjago City for days, but he felt magnetized to stay in the city limits. But when he walked to Ninjago Square, it was filled with energy than he imagined. And his newly developed vision showed him everything with energy. Hand held devices, cars, and even power cables buried beneath the concrete and asphalt. And with those, it could lead him to the source. He just had to find it.
The sound of rushing footsteps alerted the Ninja to turn on their heels to take a stance at the danger. But they relaxed as they recognized the teen clad in blue. They waited as Jay, formally Jay 2 in disguise, ran up to them and hunched over to catch his breath and lifted part of his mask to breathe better from the fabric. "Jay, what are you doing here?" Cole asked while patting his back. "We thought you were still sick and yet...you look fine."
Sick? Jay 2 wondered. The android in disguise quickly realize that the real Jay must've lied to have the day to create him. But where did the real Jay go though to have him in his armorized gi and rush out. Obviously he's going to come back eventually, right? "I...uh got better." the android lied. "It was a minor flu virus. It's that time of the year you know."
"Or that you probably faked a sick day so you could find Spiderman crook." Kai objected annoyed. "Seriously Jay, remember whose side you're on. Don't fall to the bad guy's side."
"Spiderman is not a bad guy, Kai." Lloyd stated with his back turned on him. "You're just jealous."
Spiderman? the android wondered more to turn his gaze away and ponder. Who is he? As he wondered about this person, he slowly felt exhausted like his energy was being drained from his power source. His eyes enlighten to himself to show scans of his power levels as they were slowly depleting like if a magnet was nearby and it was getting stronger like it was near. This isn't good. he thought. I need this until morning for a recharge. What is happening?
"JAY!?" a voice boomed.
Jay 2 snapped himself from his thoughts and his vision returned to its normal state to meet with the Ninja staring at him. "Uh..." he stuttered for a minute. "Sorry. Hehe... So what's the predicament happening here anyway? Also Zane, don't you feel a little drained or anything?"
Predicament? The white ninja had a brow raised to the auburn teen in blue quizzically to the word. To him, it felt odd. That wasn't like a word in Jay's dictionary. In his case, he would've said, What's happening!? But what did he also meant by drained to him? He felt fine. "Uh..." he paused in alert as he felt his head buzz and eyes twitched. The Ninja saw the look from the slit of his mask and knew his sixth sense was in act to become in alert as he was. The nindroid had his eyes shut to concentrate and they slid open to meet with the team. "I sense he is approaching." he stated. "And he's near and I know where he's going." He drew out a shuriken to lead the way with the team following.
*The energy and source of power was near. He could feel it. The man's eyes became his guide as he scanned the concrete to follow trails of electricity until they all became bright to the source below under a grate. He fell to his knees to reach for the cable, but a bolt of electricity made him jump to feel the energy being absorbed into his body. It felt rejuvenating to wretch the grate off while ignoring the surprised comments of the bystanders to grab the large cable with both hands to growl with his voice reverberating as he absorbed the electricity to recharge his body. He felt strong and powerful.
As he felt the power channeling through his body, the man wasn't paying attention of the electronic signs and digital billboards were flickering and glitching from his absorption. He was hearing someone to move aside but ignored it to have the energy envelope him. "Sir, please back away from the cable." a voice demanded and the man lifted his head as his face was hidden to meet with a police officer. Dillions watched the officer react to his appearance to pull out his firearm to cause him to release the cable and stepped back onto the road; scared. But unknown to him, he didn't notice the Ninja walking up to the commotion to feel two powerful sources of energy nearby. But also heard a truck blaring its horn to make him turn to his left to gasp and held his hands up to defend himself.
The Ninja and bystanders gasped as electricity was conducted from the man's hands to lift the large truck in a purple glow from the asphalt like it was a magnet. They were stunned to his appearance of electric blue skin color and jumped a little as he flipped the truck over him to slam it into the road and the current was gone. To that, the Ninja quickly jumped into action to surround the man. This was the threat that tripped their alarms. "Everyone, back away!" Cole shouted his command, scythe gripped tightly in his gloved hands. "We got this! Hands where I can see them, Sparky! We have you surrounded!"
"Please I'm sorry!" Dillions shouted back with his hands held over his head. "I can't control it! I can-" He gazed around to the billboards as they were playing live footage of him, following his exact movements. He felt shocked that he was revealed now when he wanted to remain hidden. "You can see me..." he gasped lowly to panic a little. "You can see me..." He looked away and his bright blue eyes widen to meet with the lightning ninja. "It's you. The one I'm searching for."
Jay 2's eyes widen as the electric man stared at him with a wide grin. What could he want from him? He was just an android that was created and now a target to a crazy man. Before he could speak, the auburn teen watched Lucas nudge his cousin away and fished out smoke pellets from his leather pouch. "Wait!" he screamed at the water ninja. But it was too late, the grey ninja threw his smoke pellets to envelope the man in a thick cloud of smoke. He could hear him cough to the smoke, but he watched as the smoke changed to a purplish hue and suddenly a pulse of energy pushed him and the Ninja off their feet to fly a few feet away and land roughly.
Pain erupted from the android's body to groan and held his head to ease the pain away. For being a robot, he sure could feel pain like that. He heard Cole screaming as he landed next to him and lifted his head to scream as a car was barreling toward them. Oh this was how he was going to die, being crushed. But suddenly, he watched someone swooping in to land on the car and turned his body to land on his feet and catches the car on his back. He was stunned with the earth ninja for someone to have the strength to catch a car alone and he only thought Cole could do it for being the strongest member. But who was this person in the red and blue suit? Was it Spiderman?
Spiderman, unknown to all was Jay underneath, grunted to the weight of the car to chuckle. "You're lucky this wasn't a truck or else you'd be pancakes." he grunted and flipped the car to have it back on its wheels. "You say you got it, but now I do." He heard the crowd cheering all around him as the square was cleared to smile underneath his mask as this was exhilarating to him. And even fighting someone new to him and his friends. He was glad Jay 2 hasn't seen him as Spiderman yet. He jumped onto the car's roof to land in a crouch to watch Zane throw his shurikens at the man, but the current caught the metal to magnetize them and threw them back at the ice ninja. That made Jay angry now. "Hey Sparkles, over here!" he chirped and whistled to him.
Dillions turned to the voice to look at him quizzically. Who was this new person that came from nowhere? Also, what did the costume have to represent him on about? "Who are you supposed to be?" he asked while taking a step.
A small current of electricity danced on the grate with the cables inside and raced across the wet concrete path to make Jay glance over his shoulder as the current ended at the large set of bleachers that rested in the middle of the square. That's a death trap waiting to happen. he figured while turning back to the electric man. I got to keep him still and get him out before he hurts someone. After a quick thought, he had a plan. "You may not know me, but I'm sheriff of this town, Partner." he chuckled. "I'm known as Spiderman to the people of Ninjago City. But I can sense that you are scared and I understand that." He turned to the Ninja as they were gathering. "Ninja, back away. Let me talk with him." He didn't wait for a response and turned back to the man. "See. They won't hurt you. Nor will the cops. So tell me, what do they call you?"
"Max." the electric man replied. "Maxwell Dillions. I used to work at Oscorp before everything went wrong." He looked at his hands to sigh. "I don't know what happened or how, but I can't control. But I need to talk to him." He pointed at Jay 2. "He's the elemental lightning ninja and he can help me. I don't think you can." He took a step toward Jay 2, unknown his conduction on the ground, but he felt something emit from his feet.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Easy there! Just stay right there!" Jay spoke up quickly while holding a hand to stop him. "Just take a look at your feet." He watched the man do so to notice a small current dance from the grate to his foot and moved it away to make the conduction end. Max now understood. "The grates are conducting your movements and we don't want anyone getting hurt, alright." He watched him nod to smile as negotiations were going smoothly. "Okay we're going to work this out now." He turned to the Ninja to point at Jay 2 to motion him over. "Blue ninja, come over and let's talk to him, okay. He needs our help, mostly yours."
Jay 2 now became frightened that the masked man needed his help to...coax the man with his powers. But it was to make sure no one gets hurt. But he was an android. What could he know about harnessing elemental powers? Unlike Zane could, but still he had Jay's memories and could remember lessons on harnessing and pass it to him. The auburn android turned to the Ninja and then Spiderman to nod and slowly walked over to Max. His nunchucks were gripped tightly in his gloved hands, but he slipped them into his belt. "H-Hey Max." he spoke to him calmly. "H-How we doing tonight?"
Unknown to the two Jays, the grey ninja had his eyes narrowed to the man named Max. For what, Maximum Power? He and his brothers and cousins were concern and uncertain that the man couldn't be trusted. Neither Jay nor Spiderman if he could hurt him from electrocution. Lucas glanced over his shoulder to see his small cousin and held his right arm behind his back. "Form me an icicle, Lloyd." he whispered. "He makes one wrong move; I take the shot, everyone." He saw his brothers nod and felt his hand become cold to avert his hazel grey eyes to his right side to see a foot long spear-like icicle form in his hand and gripped it tightly He had to wait now.
Max remained still as the lightning ninja slowly advanced toward him to feel relieved no one was attacking him. Not even the one he needed his help from. "I don't know what's happening with me." he replied when the blue ninja met with him and looked down at his hands. He felt electricity dance across the top of his hands. "I feel like I have...so much anger and hatred and I can't control it. I don't know what to do."
Jay 2 studied Max to nod as he understood slowly for not being the real Jay. This man was afraid and needed his help. He could do that even if he wasn't the real Jay. "I get it now." he replied. "You don't want to hurt anyone and neither will they hurt you. You and I will go somewhere and talk this out. Just us alone." He watched the man nod with a small smile to take a step back; unaware of the puddle of water. Max jumped to feel his electricity discharge around him and a rogue spark hitting Jay 2.
Lucas gasped to what he was doing and took aim to throw the icicle of an arrow like he was skipping stones. The piece of ice sailed across the air like an arrow in a perfect spiral of a throw and struck into the man's left shoulder to hear him cry out in pain. The man eventually stopped to shout in anger and held his hands out to fire volts of electricity from his fingertips at an electronic billboard to create a large crater into it. Jay growled at Lucas for making him mad now when everything was going perfect and turned to Max. "Hey!" he shouted and fired a thread of web at the man. He watched Max stop to grab the thread to watch electricity being conducted like it was a wire to feel it enter his body and flew back to slam his back into the car to leave a crater of him. "Ow..." he winced to feel his arm tingle.
His head snapped to the sound of metal whining and broke to watch the billboard tilting to gasp as it was heading for Lucas and Lloyd below to watch them notice it now. He quickly jumped to his feet to fire both wrists to catch onto their backs and pulled them away on time before they could meet their doom. Oh too close. he breathed in relief. He heard the people of Ninjago City cheer for him to smile to the rescue. Man it felt great to be Spiderman now.
Max turned slowly to the uproar crowd to growl. He lied to me. his throughts said to him. The crowd was cheering for the man who lied to him. He shot at me. He glared up at the many billboards of the man to grimace. "So selfish." he grumbled while ignoring the crowd disowning him as a bad guy. "You set me up!" he shouted at Spiderman.
Jay gasped as everything was taking a downfall to talk with Max. If Lucas hadn't thrown that icicle, none of this would happen. This wasn't going to end well now. "No one had set you up, Max." he stated hesitantly. "We were only helping you. If he didn't do that, everything would've gone smoothly." But he was ignored. "Stay with me, Max!"
Max fell to his knees to shout at him to feel his electricity expand in his body and soon into his hands. His anger was more powerful than he realized. "My name is no longer Max!" he shouted. "It's Electro!" He lifted both hands to slam them onto the grate to feel his powers conduct strongly.
A pulse of purplish electricity erupted across the grates to scatter toward Jay to make him jump back into a flip to plant his hands onto the roof of the car to launch himself back before the car was flipped along with him. As he saw everything within his sights on who could get hurt made him worried. Traces of electricity could be spotted on the metal rails and two people parallel to each other were victims. And below him was a boy with messy black hair and silver eyes was frozen in fear as the car was sailing for him. It made him scared to what fates would happen to them, but with his powers, he could resolve it all and stop...Electro.
As the lightning ninja saw that he was about to land, he crossed his wrists over each other to fire two strands of thread from each wrist to stick to two lamp posts and tied them together to catch the car like it was an insect. And as he landed, he heard the boy scream in fear to catch and toss him onto his back to launch himself back into another flip with him secured safely. Jay then fired his webs to catch onto the hands of the soon to be victims of electrocution and crossed his arms to pull and watch them stop as the current missed them and landed on the top set of bleachers. The crowd cheered loudly more to the rescue to make the auburn smile to the heroism, but glared at Electro. This was his fight alone, his friends were no match. "Earth ninja, get this kid to safety and everyone else to cover!" he commanded and gently tossed the boy to the black ninja below them while everyone else ran. "I got this now!"
"Whatever floats your boat to get you killed." Cole remarked. "Won't have to deal with you stealing our thunder again." He took off running with the kid to find somewhere safe for him or his parents and then regrouped with his team after. Jay, however, had to roll his eyes as he was doing his work to save all of them, including himself. He'll make them like him eventually.
Ma-Electro glared at the one named Spiderman to growl to feel his power increase and wavered his hands to create a field of static. "Time to create a light show." he grumbled. "And you're the main star to die!" He then clapped his hands together to fire a bolt of electricity toward Jay. He no longer needs the blue ninja's help to control his powers. He understood them.
In an instant reaction, Jay launched himself to dodge the volt and fired a thread to swing away and flipped and twisted his body to dodge the oncoming projectiles. This was going to be tougher than he anticipated. Fighting against his own element. As he swung to save himself, he needed something to help him fight this guy; close combat would get him electrocuted. He spotted a fire hydrant to see it was perfect to fire a thread at it and pulled to wretch it free from the concrete ground and swung it over his head as he flew toward Electro. But he failed to see the bolt of electricity struck his chest to launch him back and lose his weapon to break through a shop window. But the hydrant ricochet off the ground to collide with the man's chest and launched him into a billboard to leave a large static crater.
Electro groaned to the pain raking in his chest to grimace for Spiderman at that. But as he gazed out of the wreckage he was in, he could see how every source of electricity was connected in his vision with the people fleeing and the Ninja escorting them. He grabbed onto a large wire that was severed in half with current still running to emit sparks and placed the ends on his chest. He roared in anger to feel his body project such a powerful buildup of energy to brighten his blue body in a whitest glow. He had one final plan. The electronic billboards that surrounded Ninjago Square flickered as their power was drained until everything shut down into darkness; leaving everyone screaming in fear.
Suddenly a burst of energy erupted from the sign Electro was in to send electromagnetic pulses to every sign there was and cause them to weak and fall. Jay 2 gasped in worry to the over charge of power it was causing to destroy part of the city. He watched at the Ninja performed Spinjitzu to either save citizens or stop signs from hurting anyone. Since he was an android, not being able to master the arts was making him stick out like a sore thumb. But as he helped escort people to safety, he gazed up to watch Electro levitate in the air to become more paranoid. This guy will not stop will he? "This isn't over, Spiderman, wherever you are!" he shouted. "I will not rest until you are dead and I will bring this city back into the dark ages. I've always been a nobody, but I am someone now! I am Electro!" His body slowly became transparent and minimized into a current of electricity and slipped into the power source in the ground. He was gone.
All was quiet as the apocalypse of falling signs was over. The android heard someone groan with shatter glass shifting and turned to see Spiderman scramble out of the shop and rushed over to him. As he reached him, he quickly fell to his knees to inspect him for any injuries, but stopped as he was staring at him. "Nice work, Jay 2." he quietly said and pulled himself up to get a running start and swung away.
The auburn was confused at first to watch him swing away. How did he know his name was Jay 2? Unless, no it couldn't be. But still it had to make sense. It was him. The secret he was about to tell before Electro struck. The original Ninja of Lightning. "Jay." he gasped in realization. He was Spiderman.
So what did you all think!? Exciting for a first battle for Jay and his elemental villain!? I think so. Jay has an arch-enemy now! XD Just like an superhero would though. Ooh but this was exciting, even the soundtrack was perfectly synced when I wrote this. But anyway, thank you for reading the update, I hope you enjoyed it and have a great weekend and I'll see you all next week. :)
