Hey everyone, happy Friday and time for a new update. So I can say that last week's chapter was romantic for our lightning ninja, kissing in the rain with his favorite samurai. But what about Jay 2 though witnessing it? Or the call from Gwen Stacy even? Let's what happens next.
Chapter 23: One Ring to Find True Love
Panic. Panic! PANIC! That's all Jay could emphasize into one word in his head as he paced nervously in the bunkroom like a mad man alone. All throughout the night, his mind was crowded by the thoughts of him and Gwen Stacy after the call last night. Which would explain why he couldn't sleep last night even. All he could think about was the snow white haired girl flashing in his hazel eyes to feel his heart pounding even when pacing in the room. He couldn't stop thinking about every detail of her. Thin blue sweater to match perfectly for her snow white hair with the black knee length skirt. Luscious crystal blue eyes glistening brightly with beautiful pink lips to make Jay soft to imagine her smile. And the scent of her lilac perfume made him feel melted as it lingered in his nose. Does she even like blue? he wondered to shake himself back to reality. Ugh... Why is this so tough!?
Out of every person in the entire world, the lightning ninja couldn't have never expect himself to fall in love with another girl. Two girls, one heart. Was he really that obvious now even if people could see it in his eyes? And even if Kai found out, he would kill him like when he tried to when he supposedly threw that radio at Nya, but it was because of his powers. But if Nya found out, he would break her heart and then Kai will kill him for that. This can't happen to him, not now, not ever. But yet it was. "Augh! Why is this difficult!?" he blurted out while grabbing his ruffled auburn hair. "This can't be happening!"
"Sounds like to me someone is...oh I don't know...love sick for another girl." a voice chirped mockingly.
Jay's head snapped immediately to spin on his heels panicky in hopes it wasn't Kai, but instead faced the Ninja of Earth as he leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed and a cocky smile plastered on his lips. His hazel eyes grew wide to race to the door to grab him by his white undershirt to wretch him into the room and poked his head out in case anyone was around. He sighed as the halls were deserted and quickly slammed the door shut and locked it. The blue ninja felt his heart relax slowly, but glared at Cole as he still had the cocky smile. "You can't keep your mouth shut, can you!?" he barked at him. "Even after you said you would keep it all a secret. I don't want Kai to even know or else I'm dead."
The smile still played on the raven haired teen's face as he fixed his black gi onto himself along with his leather studded armor vest. "Yeah I know." he smirked and fixed his dark grey belt tightly around his waist. "But it's more fun to see how funny you look with this whole falling for Gwen Stacy while still in love with Nya." He chuckled a little as he was still given a glare from his brother. Oh this was to fun to him now. "Like I said, way funny to see you freaking out a lot on this." He glanced around on the floor to see a comic book lying on the floor by Lloyd's bed to snatch it up and stared at the title. "Huh, must be the newest issue of Starfarer." and plopped down onto his bed.
The auburn's jaw was agape to the earth ninja as he was making this a joke to him. He was in more danger than the black ninja could imagine if he can snap him out of it. This wasn't funny at all. "Hey Dirt-for-Brains," he snapped at him. "I'm on the edge of death by the hands of Kai if he catches wind of my situation with another girl than his sister. He knows I love her with all of my heart and all you care for is the latest issue? You're messed up, Dirt clots."
The earth ninja felt unfazed to his words as his amber eyes scanned along the colorful illustrated pages. He could hear Jay groaning in annoyance to gain his attention, but it was fun to him. "Snakes and dark lords may break my bones, never in my life by the way, but your yammering words won't hurt me, Motormouth." he rebutted with a smirk and turned a page. He had to snicker to hear Jay become more frustrated. "I wonder how Lloyd could understand it with comics. What he needs to read are manga books. Those pack a lot of action, especially the prequel of the Starfarer series."
Jay could feel his anger growing in frustration toward the raven haired teen as he wasn't going anywhere with this. Who even asked him for help? He was just there when being on his verge of panicking. Pestered to become red as a tomato, the lightning ninja stormed over to the black ninja's bunk to snatch the comic book from his hands and tossed it aside. "Who cares if Serpentine or Garmadon breaks your bones or not or if my words are yammering to you!" he exclaimed at him and wretched him out of his bed to pin him against the wall. He became more irritated to his smug grin. "This isn't about you or your dumb manga books that I enjoy too. This is about me and my problem for falling in love with two girls. Two girls! And this isn't like me! And yet you're being a jerk about this."
"At least I'm not a jerk that's falling for another girl when he's already taken." the earth ninja retorted back. He watched the blue ninja's hazel eyes widen to realize his statement and gently brushed his hands off his gi. "Now if you don't want to die from the hands of Kai, I suggest you take a few notes from me to save your doomed butt."
"What notes?" Jay barked. "I never seen you with a girl around on the Bounty like me and Kai. Much less go out with anyone even. So how do I know your advice is any good if you stay at home with Zane, Lucas, and Lloyd?"
A chuckle played with Cole's throat to leave Jay puzzled. Oh he has no idea. he said to himself and moved back to his bed to kick back and relax. "Oh Jay Jay Jay..." he chimed while shaking his head in disbelief. "You're so wrong on that." He peeked an eye to see his hazel eyes widen to chuckle more. "I too had a heart for two girls at my old school that my dad sent me to. They never paid much attention to me because I was often picked on for being the worst dancer out of everyone. Yet look at me now, strongest teen, Ninja of Earth, and most likely the only person to do the Triple Tiger Sashay." He scoffed a bit to see his blank stare to roll his eyes. "My point is that I too have faced your problem and know what you're going through. And I want to help you. Now you understand, Zippy?"
All the lightning ninja could do was blink and remain quiet. The earth ninja too had once had a heart for two girls. He wouldn't have even known that was like him at all. He always though he had a rough shell for anyone to not break and yet he always may have a soft side like most guys would. But Cole with a soft side as well, it made him blink more to try and find his voice. This must've been a secret he wished to keep a secret, but he figured the blue ninja was one to trust dependently. Like how was he keeping his secret of Gwen Stacy. "Uh...I kind of do now." he replied and sat down on the bed adjacent from Cole's bunk. "So what is that you have to tell me then in this situation?"
"Simple really, don't do what I did." he said while brushing his bangs from his eyes. "I just ran off from them and never saw them again. Because I wasn't much of a person at that school and look at me now. Ninja of Earth that any girl would want to go out with me a lot. But I know there's one girl who is my true love. I just hope to find her one day."
The annoyed face returned on the Ninja of Lightning's face to snort. He's got an ego and that wasn't much helpful advice even. Some friend. "Augh...you're so obtuse, you know that even." he grumbled while jumping to his feet. "That's not even helpful advice you call resourceful to my problem. I'm still in love and go out with Nya a lot. It doesn't help though if I'm going for Gwen Stacy." He paused for a minute to slightly smirk. "Geez... No wonder why you're the last to know about Lucas going out with your cousin."
Jay heard shuffling quickly happening Cole's bed to hear a clunk sound and soon a groan of pain. He turned to smirk as the startled black ninja rubbed his temples to ease the throbbing pain of a red mark forming to shake his head. "What!?" he snapped in surprise. "My cousin, which I treat as a baby sister, is going out with Lucas!? And I'm the last to know about this!" His brows furrowed to quickly rush over to Jay and grabbed him by his gi to pin him to the wall. "How long and why am I the last to know, Motormouth?" he demanded.
The smirk played on the edge of Jay's face to his annoyed look to brush his hands off of him gently. "Snakes or dark lords may break my bones, but your yammering words will not hurt me." he remarked like how Cole told him when he snapped at him for the ignorance he gave him. Now it was his turn for fun. "It's been happening for awhile lately. She's always over when you're out grocery shopping with Zane. Or the time when she visited you. Anyway she's also been a huge help to him to make Lloyd's costume. He looks great as Spiderman even, you've got to see it." The blue ninja saw his quiet blank stare to chuckle and lightly tapped his cheek. "Cheer up Sport, they make a great couple together. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to find someone else I know and trust to help me with my problem." He walked over to the door to unlock it and left with a laugh. "Later."
The earth ninja stood alone in the room in a daze to finally shake his head clear to find his voice to think of a comeback for Jay. But he finally realized he left to turn his head to the door to hear his faint footsteps leave the ship. He kept blinking to the secret news that was kept from him about his cousin Dawn spending time with the water ninja. And he was the last to know! That made his skin crawl in irritation to have his brows furrowed and snorted toward his friend. "He's so dead if Kai finds out." he mumbled. "But he's not the only one that's getting murdered that's for sure." He stormed over to the door to wretch it open and left the room. "Hey Lucas, where are you? You and I got a bone to pick with." He cracked his knuckles as he began his search for the burnet.
"What am I supposed to do, Aunt Mary?" Jay had had asked to his aunt in her condominium after dropping by via swinging from his webs while keeping himself hidden to the public. In his hands was a ming cup of tea his aunt had poured for him, but he didn't feel like much of drinking it. He didn't stop by for a cup of tea, he needed an answer to a question of his after he explained everything to her. He sighed though as he waited for his aunt to return from the kitchen and munched on a cookie to ponder. "I love Nya and all," he continued through a mouthful. "But Gwen Stacy from Oscorp is something though. She even called me last night to ask me for coffee tomorrow. I was stunned to reply and couldn't tell her I was taken. Am I doomed with one heart for two girls?"
Mary, who had returned from kitchen to refill her cup of tea, studied her nephew across from her. She could see that he looked distressed by all of this to understand his problem. Even though this wasn't like a normal visit from like he usually would before the loss of her husband. But she was still happy to see her only nephew even when he was going through rough moments in his life. She smiled to him softly to try and see if he could smile a little, but it never came to sigh for trying and sipped her tea. "Answer me this, Jay." she said to set her cup down and took a seat next to him. "What does your heart tell you?"
Puzzled, the auburn teen turned his aunt to raise his scarred brow on that. What did his heart say? He always heard that term follow your heart to the right one for you or something like that and he believed it as well with his eyes sighted on love at first. It was obvious he loves Nya but Gwen also makes his heart stammer when his eyes met hers. So what does his heart truly say for real? "Well... I love Nya with all of my heart." he finally replied but sighed as it was becoming difficult to admit. "But... Gwen Stacy is the same as Nya and I don't know what to do. I'm hooped I tell you. Hooped."
The widowed woman stared at her paranoid nephew to give him an unconvincing look as she didn't believe that. She knew it was something more in his heart than that. "Are you sure your heart said that and not your head?" she wondered by lightly tapping his head. "Because I don't think that's true." Jay had to look away to think about that statement and realized she was right. His heart may say Nya is the one, but his mind also says Gwen is the one for him too. So what did his heart truthfully say to him? Mary smiled to see the realization in his hazel eyes to turn and head out of the den. A moment later, she returned with a small box in her hand. "Here. This should help you on your problem." and held the small black box to him.
Puzzled slightly, Jay had his hands cupped on the small black box and ran his fingers through the velvet texture feel. He then realized it was a ring box to open it to reveal a ring resting on its satin home. A precious sapphire gemstone rested on the sterling silver band which glowed as the sun's rays reflected it to shine. Jay was baffled to reply and stared at his aunt surprised. She simply smiled at his puzzled look to chuckle a bit. "Aunt Mary, what are you trying to say?" he asked.
Mary's small smile kept playing with her as she straightened her slowly greying hair and stared at the small ring that rested in the box. Oh the memories it brought back to her to make small tears form in her eyes, but refused to release any in front of her nephew. "That there was my engagement ring." she replied and sat next to him. "But now it's yours for the special girl in your heart. Your uncle always knew the ways to win my heart and he believed you could do the same. He always had faith in you to do the same. He wanted you to have this ring because he knew you would be the best to win someone's heart." She laid her hand over his to close the lid to hold both hands to look into his eyes. "Can you do that for the both of us?" she asked. "For both me and Uncle Ben, find the girl with this to find what your heart truly says."
Baffled. That's all the Ninja of Lightning felt and couldn't find his voice. His eyes couldn't pry away from the velvet box in his hands, but choked on his words. He couldn't believe his uncle and aunt would want him to have this because like Mary said, he could win the girl of his dream's heart with anything. But one thing still caused him to frown on it. Who was it? Nya? Or Gwen? This still doesn't help with his problem. "Aunt Mary, how will I know Nya is the one if I still have these thoughts of Gwen?" he wondered. "I'm back to square one."
Mary's smile returned and pulled his head closer to her shoulder and stroked his auburn hair. She wasn't finished. She still had one advice left. "If you want my advice, go out with Gwen just this once tomorrow." she replied. "Find out what kind of girl she is that makes her different than Nya. If you feel she's the one, it's her. If not, it's Nya then. I may be betraying you, but this will help you."
Jay felt startled and uncomfortable about this, but he felt that she was right. Trial and errors he saw. It wouldn't be betraying Nya to him since he loves her still. But if he saw what Gwen Stacy was like, his heart would see her as the one. But he couldn't bring himself to breaking Nya's heart too. Sighing, he nodded as he understood. "Okay, I'll give it a shot." he said while playing with the box in his hands. "But just this one, that's it."
Nervous. Stomach doing somersaults with a tight knot forming. And quivering breath for the icing on the cake. Jay paced around the nearest phone on the Destiny's Bounty as he couldn't bring himself to pick it up and call Gwen Stacy about tomorrow. Two things on why. He couldn't bring himself to breaking Nya's heart if she found out. And he didn't want to become the worst person in the world for being a soulless jerk. He was figuratively kicking himself on this. Sighing after inhaling the deepest breath he could muster, the auburn finally picked the phone up and dialed the number as he knew he promised his aunt he'd do this for one time only.
As the dial tone of the phone rang in his ear, he began to have second thoughts on this, but he knew there was no turning back on this. To which he sighed as he waited while leaning on the doorway of the kitchen. But he couldn't help to hide his laughter as Lloyd and Lucas walked down the hall and the grey ninja had a purplish color adorning his swollen right eye; a black eye. No doubt it was Cole as the culprit for his injury for a certain secret kept from him, but knew the water ninja will heal that in no time. Jay waited as the two turned the corner and heard them become faint. Perfect time as he heard the phone being picked up. "Uh... H-Hi Gwen," he stammered. "It's Jay. How does six o'clock tomorrow sound? I know a great café around here."
Oh Jay, what can he do now at a time like this? Like his aunt said, try going out with Gwen for once. But this could go back for him if Nya finds out. Or worse Kai, he'll be dead before he knows it. So anyway, thank you for reading the update, leave a review if you like, have a great weekend and I'll see you all next week. :)
