"I understand. Yes, I will go immediately. You're sending the plane? You already sent it? Alright. I'll see you in two days." It was eleven at night when I received the call. The surgery was pushed ahead. I had to board the plane at one tonight. Meaning the kids had to go with their grandparents sooner than expected…
I was and still am not ready for what is to come… It said it is suppose to be awfully cloudy and a bit damp for my stay in Germany. Meaning they wouldn't think twice about sending someone to stay with me and throughout the surgery and accompany me to their home. Shaking the thought away, I picked up the phone to call the airport to rearrange the kids' flight, they will be leaving two days after me. I also made sure to update Regina and Mark to let them know that the kids are going sooner.
I spent the next hour packing my bag, knowing full well I only needed little clothing, it'll literally be provided for. Now all that was left to do was tell Sam. The kids were asleep and I couldn't bare to wake them up. I would just have to call them on the flight. Making my way towards the living room suitcase and purse in hand, I sat on the couch. Barely two minutes later, the door opened and closed and Sam walked in.
He took one glance at the bags and became alert. Before he could open his mouth with, I'm sure would be loud exclamations and questions, I glided towards him wrapping my arms around him. Immediately his arms wrapped around me, making me feel protected. Sighing after a few minutes, I pulled away slightly so I could gain a better look at him.
" I have to go earlier than expected. They pushed my surgery ahead. A cab is already on its way to pick me up…" I paused closing my eyes, inhaling deeply, knowing I didn't tell him the complete truth. I felt him kiss my temple as he tightened his hold on me.
"And the kids?" He asked in a whisper. I blinked looking up at him. "They'll be heading to their grandparents in two days. I'll call them on my flight there. I don't want it to seem like I'm abandoning them." He nodded. Leaning in, he captured my lips with his. It was… As if he knew that I needed it more than anything. It was long and I could feel the love and need to it. We broke away when we heard a honk. Glancing back at him, I smiled slightly as he walked me towards the cab. He put my suitcase inside and brought me in for another kiss.
Then everything went by fast. I got to the airport. I boarded the plane. We took off. And I just blacked out. With one thought going through my head.
'The balance is shifting.'
