A/N: Hello my lovelies! Thank you so much for the feedback on the last story, and now, here is a new one! This is for Vive Amore who asked for more Morganders, so here ya go!
Summary – Morgan is feeling jealous about Greg's new girlfriend and wishes they would break up, but she feels guilty when Greg ends up hurt… can she be there for Greg?
Green Eyed Monster
Morgan Brody entered the locker room after shift to find her long time crush Greg Sanders re-positioning his hair in the mirror of his locker. Morgan sighed with discontent and rolled her eyes.
"You got another date?" she asked rather flatly, although Greg didn't seem to notice.
Greg had been dating a woman called Beth for about 4 weeks now, but Morgan wasn't jealous.
Uh-uh, nope, no siree! At least, that's what she tried to trick herself into believing, because then it hurt a little less to watch the man she wanted to be with, walk out the door and into the arms of another woman.
"Yep" Greg replied as he finished with his hair and fiddled with his collar. "Things are going really great!" he said happily "I really think it could get serious"
"Oh, Yey" Morgan mumbled sarcastically under her breath.
"Are you okay?" Greg asked turning to look at her with a concerned frown. "You seem a little distant with me lately, have I done something to upset you?"
"What, oh no" Morgan said, feeling guilty now. "Greg, you haven't done anything to upset me" she said a little reluctantly.
She wanted more than anything to tell the male CSI how much he meant to her, but she could see how happy Greg was with…Betty? Belinda? Whatever the hell her name is, and Greg's happiness meant a lot to Morgan.
"Good, but are you sure you're not upset about something?" Greg pressed. Ecklie was still in hospital after being shot, so he figured it might have something to do with that. "I can cancel and stay with you if you want?" he offered.
Morgan smiled at the sweet thought, willing to put his plans aside just for her. She loved how caring and considerate Greg was, if only she could have him all to herself.
"No I'm fine, really" she said with a reassuring smile.
"Well, if you're sure" Greg said closing his locker and turning to look at Morgan with the 100 watt smile that always made the blonde's heart pound against her chest. "How do I look?" he asked a little nervously.
"Very handsome" Morgan said softly as she went forward and straightened Greg's tie for him and then rest her hands on his chest "Bella better know how lucky she is to have you." because I sure as hell do.
"Beth" Greg corrected "And erm, thanks" he said with a small smile. There was silence for a moment as Morgan realised her hands were still gently placed on Greg's firm chest and their eyes locked for a moment. "Erm, I better go" Greg said giving Morgan a quick hug so she didn't feel he was pushing her away. "I'll see you later" he called before leaving the room.
"Yeah, see you" Morgan said with a sigh before sadly plonking down onto the bench.
All Morgan wanted more than anything was for Greg to realise Beth wasn't the one for him, that she, Morgan Brody, was the one he truly wanted, because Morgan had never wanted to be with anyone more than she had Greg Sanders. He was good-looking, smart, caring and funny, everything you could want in a guy, but Morgan couldn't help but wonder what Billie… no, Beth… had that she didn't.
Morgan couldn't help but feel a little angry at the thought of the woman keeping her and Greg apart. She knew it was wrong, Beth could be a perfectly nice person. But that didn't mean Morgan didn't wish Greg would realise Beth wasn't the one, that Morgan was the one, because the blonde CSI knew Greg was the one for her.
She wished that Beth would slip up, that Greg would end it, and then they could finally be together.
It was near midnight when Morgan heard the frantic knocking on her apartment door. She had been lightly dozing on the sofa whilst watching a movie. She stretched and flicked off the TV before going to answer the door, whoever it was sure wanted to see her badly.
It better be either someone getting me for work, or someone with a pizza Morgan thought disgruntledly. However, she instead found Greg Sanders bouncing around nervously on the ball of his feet.
"Greg?" Morgan said in surprise "What are you doing here? Why aren't you with Becky?"
"Beth" Greg said with a sniff as he stopped moving and looked at her.
"Greg, have you been crying?" Morgan asked concernedly. There was a red tint to the male CSI's eyes and he looked very distressed.
"I…Beth is married" Greg said before placing his head in his hands and shaking it a little "We were at her place and then her husband came home and... Anyway, I'm sorry, I know it's late but I could really use a friend right now" he said quietly.
"Of course, Honey, come in" Morgan said placing an arm around the trembling man's back and guiding him to the sofa. She was aware of the term of endearment she'd used, but she felt comfortable with it.
"I just feel so humiliated" Greg said as Morgan sat rubbing his back soothingly "Somehow, it's worse that I'm the one she's cheating with, rather than cheating on. I'm like…I'm like the god damn mistress...masteress!"
"Greg that's awful, she is awful" Morgan told him sternly.
The blonde herself was feeling really guilty. Not long ago she wished Greg and that girl would break up, but she never wanted Greg to get hurt like this. He didn't deserve to be so sad, and Morgan somehow felt it was her fault for whishing the relationship to fall apart.
"I thought things were going great. I felt like it was going somewhere….I sure know how to pick 'em" Greg said with a sigh "I must have done something really bad to be such a loveless loser"
"Hey, you're not a loveless loser" Morgan said running a hand through his hair "You have lots of friends who love you plenty enough" And I love you more.
"I know and I love you guys too" Greg said sincerely "But…I'm just feeling a little hurt and used right now."
"Just as long as you know you're not the one in the wrong here" Morgan reassured him. "You didn't know"
"Doesn't stop me from feeling guilty" Greg mumbled as he looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry, I'm gonna go, last thing you probably want to do is hear me moaning" he said standing up.
"No, you can stay as long as you want" Morgan tried to persuade him.
She would never take advantage of Greg in a situation like this; she just wanted to look after him. He didn't deserve to be used and lied to like that.
"It's okay, I'll get out of your way" Greg said with a small smile before heading to the door.
"If you're sure, I'll see you tomorrow at work" Morgan said with an upset frown. She was upset that Greg was so hurt, and she couldn't fix it just like that.
"Yeah, see you… and thanks" Greg said giving the female CSI a quick hug before leaving her apartment.
The next night and Morgan was sat in the break room contemplating what Greg must be going through, when Nick entered too.
"Hey, have you talked to Greg tonight?" Morgan asked the older man.
"Yeah, he seemed a bit of a mess" Nick said as he went to make some coffee "he told me about Beth…. floozy" he mumbled angrily as he thought of the woman who had hurt the man he loved like a younger brother. "Bet you're happy though" he said to Morgan "Greg being single again and all" he said raising an eyebrow.
"Well, I'm not happy Greg got used like that" Morgan said flatly.
"Of course, that's not what I meant" Nick quickly defended "I just meant, now maybe he'll finally realise you two were destined to be or whatever, I ain't down with that stuff" he said dismissively and Morgan rolled her eyes.
Suddenly, a man's angry shouts were being carried down the hall. Morgan and Nick shared a look before hurrying out to see what the fuss was. There they saw a huge man stood over Greg ,yelling at the CSI, whilst Greg stood with wide eyes, trembling a little and nodding his head every once in a while. Beth, was stood beside the bigger man.
"Hey!" Nick yelled as he ran to his younger friend's aid, Morgan following "What the hell do you think you're doing!?"
"This…man whore slept with my wife" the man said jabbing a finger towards Greg. "And I'm just telling him to stay he hell away!"
"I didn't know she was…" Greg stuttered but Beth interrupted him.
"Oh honey it was awful…" Beth said with crocodile tears as she buried her head in her husband's arm "I tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen."
"Liar!" Greg exclaimed before he could stop himself. The next moment the CSI found himself on the floor as the man's fist made contact with his jaw.
"Greg!" Morgan shouted as she went to help him, and Nick punched the man right back in his younger brother's defence.
"Get the hell out before I arrest you!" Nick yelled as he struggled with the man towards the door.
Morgan helped Greg to his feet, before turning on Beth. "You bitch!" the blonde snarled despite herself as she looked into Beth's cold green eyes, there was no remorse there. "How dare you hurt him like this. Greg is the sweetest, funniest, smartest guy you will ever meet and you don't deserve him, and he deserves a far lot more than you! So you go back to your dunderhead husband because Greg is twice the man he will ever be. Now. Get. Out." She snarled right up in the other woman's face now.
Beth must have been somewhat intimidated because she turned and left in a hurry. Morgan took a deep breath to calm herself before turning back to Greg, who was still looking shocked.
"Come on, Greg" Morgan said softly as she took him to the break room. She set Greg down in one of the chairs and found a pack of ice for his jaw before returning to sit with him.
"Thanks" Greg said with a small smile as he took the ice. "For a second I actually thought you were gunna slap her"
"Yeah well, I seriously thought about it" Morgan replied bluntly "Are you okay?" she asked concernedly.
"Yeah, just a little shaken is all" Greg replied. "Thanks for sticking up for me back there, it means a lot"
"You're worth it" Morgan said with a small smile.
"So erm…did you, you know…mean all that stuff you said about me?" Greg asked sheepishly.
"With all my heart" Morgan replied sincerely.
"I think I've just realised, that my perfect partner has been staring at me this whole time" Greg replied with a soft smile, before the pair found themselves slowly moving closer together before kissing smoothly.
"Hah, I knew it!" a familiar Texan tone said. The pair pulled away to find Nick smiling at them widely "I so totally knew it! Russell, you owe me 10 bucks!" he called before leaving the room again. Greg and Morgan just laughed.
"Am I the only one who didn't know?" Greg asked with a lopsided smile.
"Looks like it" Morgan replied "I've felt that way for a long time"
"Really, well then we better make up for lost time" Greg said with a smile before the pair kissed again.
