Chapter 47: State the Case
"Enter if you would. Simply talk outloud what you two think happened. The killer WILL be watching. And if your the closest one to the actual murder story, you pass. Only four people will get the chance to go to the final challenge of becoming S-Class. Good luck. Please, state your case."
Nodding at Laxus, the two girls entered the hotels study. It was elaborate and tranquil. Hikari heard the door close and she sighed, deciding she would start the case.
"Dear dear killer. You slipped up, giving us enough to catch you in the act." She muttered with a deviant smile. Kuma never saw this side of her friend before. Right now she was sensual and cunning. Two could play at that game. "She's right, who just leaves bottles of arsenic poison all around the place? And then the tattoo on Juvia's arm? You want attention. Don't you?"
"MIRAJANE!"
The two said together as Hikari spun and paced in a circle. "You weren't alone though. That's fairly obvious. You needed someone who WASNT being suspected. Someone who wasn't even S-Class. So you recruited-"
Kuma smirked and looked at the ceiling. "Natsu Dragneel. There were scorch marks next to Juvia's nightstand. And we all know a certain Dragon Slayer loves to play with fire!" Kuma smiled widely, proud that she at least figured THAT out. Hikari didn't even need her help on this challenge. She was doing all the work. When Kuma saw the burn marks she cheered at Hikari who just laughed.
"So you had Natsu make it hot ironically where the heater was, under the night table. Juvia's hands got sweaty, and then it was your move when she bent over to retrieve her hair pin."
Kuma sighed dramatically and Hikari refrained from giggling. They were surley going to laugh about this when they get back to the hotel room. "Little did poor Juvia Loxar know she was getting all dolled up for death. But don't think your getting away with this Mira and Natsu. We found all of the bottles around the hotel. You can't kill Master Makarov."
A sudden voice came in, masked by a deep creepy and robotic voice.
"So you think you solved this case?! You think you have me all figured out?! Ha! You kids make me laugh! Report to your hotel room and wait for dinner tonight to find out if your guess was correct. See you tonight, Kuma Scarlet. Hikari De'Fourde."
At dinner, all of the contestants sat around the dinner table, completely mortified.
"That challenge..." Phiranna murmured and everyone nodded silently. No one felt like eating but they ate polite bites here and there. All of the girls were wearing black dresses with their own little flair while all the boys wore nice suits. Their glasses were filled with white wine, the adults agreeing a cup wouldn't kill the kids. Kuma drunk it back in a gulp, Hikari sacrificing her own to her since she didn't drink.
"Welcome all!"
Everyone looked up at the five S-Class wizards who walked in with serious expressions. Well they couldn't tell if Mystogan was wearing an expression. Laxus pointed up and everyone looked at the lacrima vision to see people's cases. It was Kuma and Hikari then Dennevah and Koga, followed by Cobalt and Phirrana. The other two teams didn't go.
"To put it simply, the team that had got it right on the dot was Hikari and Kuma." Mirajane said sweetly which made the kids jump. She giggled and pointed at the door on the other side of the room. Juvia and Natsu were standing there, Juvia smiling and Natsu standing with a fist covered in fire.
"Good job guys!" Natsu congradulated and Juvia stepped up. "Unfortunately not everyone can be a winner. And so we have made these cards. Who ever opens them and gets the "Scared" card, that means Mirajane will be on your trail. You probably won't be seen again." Juvia passed Natsu two cards and he walked over to Dennevah and Erazia. Juvia gave Cobalt's and Eve's card.
"Dennevah, if you would?" Erza questioned and Dennevah sighed. She opened it, looked at it and showed it to the people in the room.
Scared.
Everyone tensed, even Kuma and Hikari who were safe. This felt to real. Like that crazy movie Erza made Kuma watch with her called 'I Know What you Did Last Summer.'
"Cobalt?" Mystogan urged and the boy opened it. Something about Mystogan's voice made him even more nervous, like he just knew he was gonna get a scared card. When he opened it though, he let out a sigh of relief.
Spared.
Phirrana almost cried of happiness. Something about the She-Devil chasing him made him uneasy. More like he was gonna piss his pants.
"Erazia?" Laxus beckoned.
She opened it and looked shocked. Showing it to the people that occupied the room, everone gasped.
It was blank.
"Cherise?" Gildarts asked, drawing everyone back. Eve and Cherise opened it together and they sighed as they showed it around.
Scared.
"Well kiddos. I think we all know who's moving on to the final round of being S-Class. Please give a round of applause to Hikari De'Fourde, Kuma Scarlet. Cobalt Loxar and Phirrana." Everyone cheered for the two teams who just gave smiles. They were more nervous then anything. What did that blank card mean for Erazia and Leu?
