Chapter 48: Battlefeild.
Ok so how did this happen?
Papa led me down to the beach were our battle would be held. This was the last part. To prove to Dad that Im strong enough to be an S-Class wizard.
I was going to pick Onii-chan but Hikari said she wanted to take him on. I could fight with him another day. When we wished each other luck and seperated, it was so dramatic. We giggled after our loud cries of sorrow and all of the S-Class wizards laughed with us. Cobalt picked to go against Mom and Phiranna went to fight Gildarts.
Bad move, Phirrana.
"I'm warning you right now that I won't go easy on you just because your my baby girl." Smiling at Papa, the man dressed from head to toe let out a chuckle. "That's why I picked you, Dad! I've never fought you before either and I've gone against everyone in the guild. Though it helps if I have something to work foward to; to drive me." I could see Papa's hazel eyes look down at me quizzically.
"Working towards S-Class wont be enough to work foward to?" Shaking my head I let the wild smile let loose.
"But seeing who I call Papa everyday would." I could physically see him stiffen. His bandaged arms tightened its muscles. Yes, if he took the bait, I would work my best and more to take off that stupid mask! What the hell is he hiding?!
"No way." He said robotically and my acting skills appeared automatically.
"But Papa! Your a freakin' S-Class. You shouldn't be scared of little old me! It's just something that'll help me do my best. C'mon! Lets make it harder for me. I can take the mask off ONLY if I can get you on the ground for more than ten seconds." That was going to be hard. I've only seen Papa fall once (which was funny as hell) but he virtually bounced back up in a second flat. Like a basketball!
Papa considered this and let out a sigh of defeat. "Fine, but I saw what you just did. Erza shouldn't have sent you to those acting assembly's when you were younger." Laughing and cheering we reached the beach and we seperated to have a few feet between us.
-Regular PoV-
"Dont hold back, Kuma. You'll need every ounce of strength to even think of defeating me without a decent fight!" Mystogan knew he was being more chatty than usual. During S-Class trials he probably talked more than all days in the year. Kuma smiled and rocks covered her right arm.
"You ain't gotta worry about that!" She yelled, charging for the man. Before she could even think about hitting him though, he was behind her and pulling out his staves. They fell all around them in a big circle. Kuma gasped at his speed and tried to remember a fight that had exponential speed. She would adjust into Jet's speed, but she hasn't fought him in a while so that option wasn't good. Aiming for a roundhouse kick to Mystogan's temple, he caught her leg easily and slammed her into the ground. She flinched but got back up quickly before he summoned a spell.
Too late.
As soon as her feet touched the floor, the earth around her started shaking and purple waves of energy surrounded her. Instead of gawking, she summoned the earth to cancel out the magic to which Mystogan was impressed.
"ROAR OF THE EARTH DRAGON!"
Mystogan simply stood there, which Kuma predicted, and took the blast head on. Once the dust from it faded away, he noticed she wasn't there.
"EARTH DRAGON: BOULDER BARRICADE!"
Mystogan looked up just in time to get slammed by a wall of rock. The man let out a yell of shock. Not finished with her assault yet, she fell from the sky and her left arm, which was covered in rock, turned to marble. "EARTH DRAGON: IRON FIST!" Punching Mystogan straight in the jaw, the man was sent flying. Kuma let out a breath and waited for his next move.
"I'm afraid that wont be enough to stop me." Mystogan drawled, getting back up. Kuma sweatdropped animadetly. "Figures." She muttered, getting prepared for the worst. Both arms turned into marble as she waited for her father's attack. One of his staves, the one on her right, began to glow.
And then the ground began to crack.
A monster the size of the city itself lifted her from the ground and instant terror spreaded throughout her veins. The sky turned black and her mind flashed back to the incident in the library with Cobalt a few months back.
His voice rung through her mind.
'It isn't real. It was just a stupid illusion.'
Closing her eyes and snapping them back open she clawed at the air and the beach returned. Mystogan was genuinely impressed. She's never experienced his illusions before. And she's never told him of a time she was stuck in an illusion. Was she really that strong?
"Sorry Papa! I ain't goin down that easy! Earth Dragon Secret Slayer Art!"
Kuma was deadly serious now. If it was one thing she hated, it was that stupid illusion. She's experienced it twice and she still almost pissed her pants. Her amythest eyes hardened as she concentrated on the sand around her. The grains began to swirl in a big circle around them, creating an orb like Juvia's water lock. Suddenly they all stuck together, hardning into rock. Inside the orb it was dark and only Mystogan stood inside trying to figure out what the hell was happening.
"ADAMANT RHIZAGANDA!"
Inside the orb, smaller ones had formed and were pelting Mystogan everywhere, impossible to dodge even one. The man was force to take each hit while letting out grunts of pain. The orb holding him captive became smaller with a squeeze of her fist and so the rocks bouncing off and around came at an unbearable pace. Mystogan let out a scream.
Kuma's energy was thinning because she was doing this out of anger so she quickly stopped.
The orb dissappeared and Mystogan looked as though he had more than a few scratches. His clothes were covered in dirt and grime and if he had his mask off he could have sworn he would have been coughing up sand. He saw his daughter's chest rise and fall heavily, as though she were both tired and angry. Since it was his job to work on her weakness, he was definently going to point this out.
"What's wrong, Kuma? Are you already out of fancy moves? Oh I get it. I should go ahead and retrieve Natsu so you can borrow some of his flame. Because obviously your out." Ouch. Mystogan painfully yet obviously hit a nerve because her amethyst eyes which were usually glinted with soft glee, hardened into daggers. Her thin lips were forming into a snarl and she was growling. But still, the man pressed on.
"What? Are you hurt? You were so confident when we started. That's a shame. I didn't expect anything though. You are talented in the entertainment department, maybe you should stay there and take regular missions." Mystogan's voice turned nochalant.
"Oh yeah. Erza doesn't even let you take those untill your sixteen. So even she's a little more than unsure on putting you on the front lines. Dissappointing."
Kuma snapped.
"YOU TAKE THAT BACK!"
Kuma raged on; kicking, punching and cursing her dad into kingdom come. Her chest felt heavy as her amethyst eyes blurred and distorted with red and white. A fire that was never there before errupted in her mind and all she wanted to do was land one good hit on Mystogan to make him regret his words.
"IM STRONGER THAN ANY OF YOU THINK! WATCH ME!" She got even faster and the rosary she was forced to wear during the competition began to shake violently and glow. A hit made its home on Mystogan's jaw. And that's when the assault took charge. Kuma outsmarted her father with each and every hit, letting her rage guide her as she felt her stamina drop quickly. She slipped up and that's when Mystogan caught her. Catching one wrist he lifted her up by her left wrist and pinned the right behind her. She kicked and screamed wildly, her hair flicking every which way like a tail.
She was an untamed dragon.
"Kuma, look at yourself. You let simple taunting blind you. What has Fairy Tail taught you?"
She paused and then looked at the ground. Realizing that that was exactly what had happened, she lowered her head in shame.
After a while Kuma chuckled sadly. "Jani always said I was quick to snap...but." Suddenly, the ground beneath Mystogan rumbled and he couldn't help but to stumble and fall. Kuma quickly squeezed her thumb in her fist and rocks bounded the man's wrist to the earth.
"I always make up for it. Somehow."
Mystogan felt proud yet embarrased at the same time. But the pride ran over the embarrasment.
And then the fear set in.
He couldn't get loose! He's been on the ground for six seconds. What kind of earth did she use to trap him? They were on a beach. Shouldn't this have been sand?!
Seven...
Eight...
Nine...
Ten...
Kuma broke away from thought and smiled at the man. "Sorry Papa, but that's all the fight Ive got in me. And your right, Im not ready for the front lines. I get ready to blow up to quickly. So maybe Im not ready for S-Class but...maybe this'll help me convince Mama that Im ready for regular missions and to expand my horizons with my training."
The rock handcuffs sunk back into the ground and Mystogan sat there in awe as she stood up and give the brightest smile that he's ever seen. Never has he seen this in the magazines or the music videos or television. No. This was a smile that was genuine. That showed she had learned something valuable. That she would keep close to her heart.
Regretfully he reached for his mask but felt his wrist being gripped. "C'mon Daddy! Lets head back to camp!" He blinked in surprise and she looked up at the setting sky.
"I'd rather see you when your ready to see you."
The man sighed and thought about his decision well. As they began to head back to the hotel, Mystogan chuckled and ruffled his daughter's hair.
"By the way.." He started and she looked up at him with worried filled eyes. Did she do something else wrong?
"How does it feel to be S-Class?"
-Lucy's PoV-
That night, the sky was lit with fireworks and four bonfires stretched their way across our portion of the beach.
Laughter and cheers echoed throughout the sky and bright smiles dazzled across tons of faces. The contestants for the Junior S-Class exams danced with members from their guild and with people from our own. It was a pretty sight to see. The sight of new friendship and love.
"Blondie."
Looking up at my demon partner, he held out a drink. I could smell the alcohal with my demonic senses so I took it eagerly."Your blond too, Sparky. And thanks." I wasn't one to drink but sometimes you needed a good strong one every once in a few. "Usually Im the one brooding and your the one partying. What's up?" Glancing at Laxus from what I could see of him while drinking, my shoulders lifted and shrugged while my bare toes buried themselves in the warm sand. A slight breeze blew our hair in the wind.
"Sometimes I like to watch happy scenes like this and just pause for a moment. Pretend like time is stopped for a minute."
He chuckled and took a seat next to me. Unconciously, I laid down and rested across his lap. He didn't seem to care though because he laid back to rest against the tree I was sitting at and watched the show with me. It's funny how one day w'ere both trying to argue each other's heads off during training yet we get so comfortable the next day. Hilarious actually.
"Now brats gather around! It is time to announce the two newest S-Class wizards!" Sitting up, Laxus thought I was moving away from him, but actually I just say on his lap, Indian style. Spotting Kuma she was giving me a devious smile while walking up to the fire. Oh great.
"Hey Sparky, mind telling me who won so I won't die of excitement?" I asked calmly while playing with his left hand. It was just so huge! He chuckled and wrapped an arm around my waist. This felt so good, being in a dark corner. With Laxus. Being so close...
My blood was boiling.
"Nope. You'll just have to watch." He whispered in my ear and I unconciously shivered. Ok I was definently going to enter Hysteria Mode at that rate. My mind started thinking about the things we could do here. The only one who saw us was Kuma. Wait..why am I thinking about this?! Then again, I guess he was thinking about it too, because the hand I was playing with spread itself wide across my stomach, teasing on which way it wanted to go. My heart rate was picking up violently.
As the Master babbled on about strength, bravery and courage, Laxus's hand started to go up my shirt. Since it was quiet I had to fight a moan. My blood was boiling over.
"Now to introduce you to the newest S-Class wizards! Phiranna of Blue Pegasus AND Kuma Scarlet of Fairy Tail!"
The crowd went into a thunderous applause as Laxus bit my neck. My blood boiled over.
Closing my eyes and opening them I feel...diffrent. More confident.
Grabbing Sparky's hand from my thigh, I licked up the thumb and sucked a bit before I stood up.
"You know, classy women who doesn't wait untill marriage has a three month rule. But I won't make you wait THAT long. Why torture myself when you can do that for me?" Bending down to grab my drink I heard him laugh as he strucked my behind. I giggled. "But you'll still have to wait, Pretty Boy." I murmured, stroking his cheek with the scar and then walking off to go congradulated the kiddies.
Neither of us saw that coming.
A.N: Sorry if the scene was a little to flirtacious for your taste. I just read a whole bunch of yaoi and Alice in the Country of Clover: Cheshire Cat Waltz so I was on a se- I mean uhhh... flirty high. *giggle*
