A/N: Hey guys! Thanks for the reviews from last time, so good you're still enjoying these stories now that I'm officially over half way ^_^ This story is for request of smuffly who asked for a story about Greg and the lab rats (sounds like the name of a band) Humorous friendship, enjoy!

Summary – Greg feels hurt the lab techs think he's turned his back on them. Can he prove them wrong? (Fluff)

Lab Rats

Greg entered the break room one night to find Mandy and Wendy sat chatting in the corner, cups of coffee in their hands.

"Hey!" Greg greeted them with a bright smile, which the woman returned.

"You haven't been given a case yet?" Wendy asked.

"No I erm… I'm sorta in trouble" Greg said with a sheepish smile, going over to sit with them and setting his pot of Blue Hawaiian on the table.

"What did you do this time, Sanders?" Mandy asked curiously "Pee somewhere else you weren't supposed to" she jibed.

Greg just gave her a sarcastic smile "No, nothing like that. I failed my fire arms test so I'm stuck on lab duty for a few days."

"Ah, so I guess that means I won't be able to set foot in my lab for a few days then" Wendy said "Because, you know, it is my lab now, and if you keep trying to take over I will get a restraining order"

"You guys sound like a divorced couple fighting for full custody of your child!" Mandy laughed.

"Hey, she was my baby" Greg said with a pout.

"Dude, weird" Wendy said bluntly, and Greg just stuck her tongue out at her.

At this point, Henry and Hodges decided to join the trio. "Hello ladies" Henry said with a smile and a slight nod of his head.

"Erm…hello?" Greg said, not appreciating being ignored.

"What? Didn't you hear him? He said ladies" Hodges quipped.

"Oh so I'm a woman now, real mature Hodges, you come up with that one all by yourself?" Greg jibed, the Trace tech just glared at him, before he and Henry joined the others at the table.

"Why are you even here, Sanders?" Hodges asked.

"Yeah, you're a CSI" Henry stated "it's like you're hanging with the cool kids now, and we're just the lonely Geeks you force to do your Homework"

"Erm, speak for yourself" Mandy said, taking offensive in being given the label.

"Just because I'm a CSI now, doesn't mean I don't want to hang out with you guys anymore" Greg stated, feeling a little hurt at the assumption.

"Yes, but what makes you think we want to hang out with you anymore" Archie stated as he entered the room "You broke lab rat code"

"Lab rat code?" Wendy asked curiously.

"Yes, as the newbie we must introduce you to lab rat code, Wendy" Hodges stated. "It's just a set of rules that Greg, Mandy and Bobby started, but then lab techs have been adding to it as they come and go"

"Oh, are we adding more rules?" Bobby asked as he came into the room too, he looked at Greg and smiled "Heard you failed your fire arms test Sanders, should have come to me for extra practise!"

Greg just gave him a sarcastic smile "I would have literally shot myself in the ass with the kind of weapons you'd give me"

"Is anyone actually working right now?" Henry asked. The lab technicians just looked at each other.

"Doesn't matter, all the CSI's are out at crime scenes anyway…except for me" Greg added sulkily.

"Aww, poor baby" Mandy said. Playfully ruffling his hair, and Greg batted her hand away in frustration.

"How come you're so close with the CSI's anyways?" Bobby asked Greg curiously "You've always been their go to guy"

"I dunno I just…always knew I wanted to be one of them" Greg said "Not that I became friends with them just to get what I wanted…I guess it was Nick really who I got close with. He's the youngest of his family and he wanted a little brother"

"That's so sweet" Wendy said with a smile, whilst Archie and Hodges mimed some gagging reflexes. Greg just glared at them.

"Anyway…just because I'm a CSI now, it doesn't mean I'm going to turn my back on you guys" Greg said sincerely.

Just then, Ecklie stormed into the room, having seen from across the hall that the majority of his staff seemed to have communed at the same time.

"What the hell are you all doing in here?" Ecklie asked assertively as he put his hands on his hips "There are people waiting for their evidence to be processed!"

"We erm… we were…" Archie stumbled as he looked around at his friends for help.

"We were having…." Henry started; he shared a pleading look with Greg.

"An intervention!" Greg blurted out, making everyone else give a confused look "For…my…" he spotted his pot Blue Hawaiian on the table "Caffeine addiction" he said with a nod.

"Yes!" Mandy jumped in "It's starting to get really out of control and we were so worried about him" she said, putting on her best sad eyes.

"It's starting to effect the people around you, sweetie" Wendy said, going to rub Greg's shoulders. The young man lowered his head in mock shame and nodded.

"Is it really that bad?" Ecklie said, not sure whether he was buying this story.

"Yeah, I mean…you know how hyper he gets" Hodges whispered, as if he was trying to protect Greg from the truth "And that amount of coffee everyday…well he just can't shut up, you know? It's distracting"

Greg snapped his head up then and glared at the Trace tech as if to say, okay, that's enough now.

"And besides, it's not good for his heart either" Bobby said "if he keeps going the way he is, Greg could end up having a heart attack" he added with face of utter seriousness.

"Wait, really?" Greg said looking at him. This has started off as a joke, but now he was beginning to wonder if he should take them seriously.

"Yeah, Greg, and the first step to admitting you have a problem is by…" Henry sighed, he knew Greg wouldn't be happy about this "Is to pour your coffee away" he mumbled.

"What? No!" Greg protested in real outrage "Do you have any idea how much that stuff costs me?!"

"See, it's just like a drug addiction" Archie said. "Cocaine is expensive too, Greg, but that's not a reason to not get rid of it"

"Go on then, Sanders" Ecklie dared, quite frankly finding the whole thing amusing.

He knew that if this was just a ploy, Greg would never just pour his coffee away, he'd rather just admit to lying about the whole situation.

"Alright…" Greg said giving Ecklie a suspicious look, before taking the pot over to the sink. "Here goes…" he said slowing tipping the pot, and having to turn away as he couldn't watch his precious liquid be wasted like that.

"Well done, Greg" Mandy said sympathetically "You did the right thing" she said, pulling him into a hug and Greg buried his head into her shoulder for effect.

Ecklie gave them all incredulous look "Okay, whatever" he said shaking his head, finding the whole think too weird "It's nice that you wanna help your friend, but do it on your own time, okay? Now go back to work" and with that he left.

There was a chorus of laughing, sighs of relief, and various high-fives shared among the lab techs after that.

"Way to go, Greg!" Wendy said happily "that was a great cover up story"

"Thanks" Greg said, feeling a little sheepish " I told you I would always be there for you guys. You two!" he said turning on Henry and Hodges "What the hell!?"

"I'm sorry, Greg! I just had to make it more believable" Henry defended himself.

"And I was just telling the truth" Hodges said smugly.

"Whoa, whoa let's not start falling out" Bobby said stepping in between the two and raising his hands as it looked like Greg was about to pounce on Hodges at any moment. "Hodges, I suggest that if you don't want your eyeballs gauged out, you shut up now" the ballistics tech said.

"Good job all around I say" Archie said with a smile "But we should probably go back to work now if we still want to have a job on Monday"

"Wait! Do you guys really think I have a problem?" Greg asked with a desperate look. The lab techs just shared looks or looked down at the floor, shuffling their feet, but none of them spoke.

"Guys?" Greg said with a confused frown. With that, the lab tech's decided to make a quick exit, each hurrying out of the room and splitting off in their different direction.

"Guys!" Greg called, as he ran out after them.

I honestly don't know what to say to this XD Probably one of the most random stories I've ever come up with, but there ya go.

So jealous of the US fans that are getting the new season soon, UK gotta wait till next year! :'(

I got a lot of prompts to work with and I've got them all ordered out how I want to write them so there is variety. So I promise I will get to them all, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love some more!
