Summary – Greg and Morgan must rise against their captors, but will the CSIs love survive?
Fight for Love
"Well, did it hurt worse than the cuts?" the captor beside Greg snarled into the CSI's ear. Greg weakly nodded "How does that make you feel, huh?" the man asked "How does it make you feel to hear the woman you love say that?"
"Like a bullet to my heart" Greg replied honestly "But I trust… I know that she's only saying it because you forced her to" at least, he desperately hoped that was the case.
"Oh, really? Well, we better ask your soon to be ex-girlfriend for some reasons then" the man taunted "Say, Blondie…" he called over to Morgan. "What exactly is it that makes you not want to love this…charming young gentleman?"
Greg turned his head to look at Morgan with red and hurt filled eyes. Morgan couldn't help but look away, feeling nothing but utter shame at herself. How could she hurt Greg like that? Her beautiful, sweet, caring boyfriend… Morgan hoped Greg would never forgive her for this, because she didn't deserve his love for saying such horrible and untrue things. But, if she was going to save Greg, Morgan knew that she had to hurt him to help him.
"He's way too overprotective…" Morgan spoke with a quiet voice "Sometimes I feel like he's suffocating me…"
"Yes, yes, keep going" the man beside Morgan encouraged with glee in his voice, it made the CSI sick.
"I-I never thought I would find a guy who talks m-more than I did" Morgan said "Sometimes, after I come home from a hard night at work , I just want to sit in quiet and relax, not listen to Greg babbling on… and then there's the scars" Greg turned away at this, he couldn't bare anymore. Morgan hated herself; she knew how paranoid Greg was about them. "Th-they…they creep me out"
"Aww, see now I'm starting to feel sorry for the poor guy" the man with the knife spoke with mock sympathy. "Do you still love her after she's said all that?" he asked Greg.
"Yes" Greg said quietly "I could never stop loving Morgan, I'll always think she's perfect…and I know what she says is true, they are my biggest flaws…I'm an inconsiderate deformed freak"
Morgan's heart broke again, surely to God Greg didn't seriously believe those things? Surely he knew she was just acting to keep him safe? But the tears and pain in his eyes said otherwise.
"I-I'm so sorry, M-Morgan" Greg said with a trembling voice "I-I'm so, so s-sorry"
"No, Greg" Morgan said shaking her head "P-please don't apologise, P-please"
"Well, isn't this so sad, yet so sweet" the man with the knife said. "It must be hard, being so perfect all the time" he turned to Morgan now "You ridicule this poor boy for his scars because you have none of your own…" a smile broke across his face "We can soon fixt that though"
"No!" Greg cried at what the man was implying "No, don't you dare touch her!"
"Were you not listening? Overprotectiveness is one of the reasons she hates you!" the man beside Morgan laughed.
"Now, you just stay right her lover boy, and we'll get to work." The man with Greg said, as he surprisingly cut the rope which was tying Greg's arms behind his back.
He grabbed Greg's hair and pinned him against the wall. An unbelievable amount of pain broke into Greg's body, as the captor rammed the knife right through Greg's hand, restraining him to the wall. Morgan screamed. She knew the excruciating pain filled cry that Greg had given would haunt her for a long time.
"Okay then" the man beside Morgan spoke as he pulled out a knife of his own "Let's have us some fun, shall we, Blondie?" the smirk which broke across his face made Morgan sick, and she looked at him with wide eyes and trembling even worse from the fear.
Greg knew he had to do something, he couldn't let the woman he loved go through the same pain he had. The male CSI grabbed the handle of the knife in his hand, and began to cautiously pull at it. He was once again biting his teeth extremely hard to stop himself from screaming.
"What beautiful hair you have" Morgan's tormentor said as he lifted some up with the knife's blade "I think I'll have some as a souvenir" and with that, he slit through one of Morgan's golden waves, and the CSI flinched away in fear.
Greg had only managed to dislodge the knife less than half an inch. He was getting angrier and angrier by the second as he saw the men taking great joy in causing Morgan fear.
"Screw this" Greg finally whispered, and with an impassioned cry, ripped the knife from his hand.
He didn't give himself enough time to register the pain, as he ran at the men surrounding Morgan, who were too shocked by Greg's actions to even defend themselves. The CSI plunged the knife into Morgan's tormenters neck, and watched the man fall to the ground, before grabbing hold of his own tormentor and shoving him up against the wall.
"Let's see how you like it" Greg snarled, as he hit the man in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious, and then stabbing the knife through the bastards right hand, holding him up against the wall.
Greg went over to the other man, he was dead, yet the CSI felt no guilt or sympathy. Morgan just looked absolutely amazed; she'd never seen Greg display such a bout of aggression before. Greg went and untied Morgan's hands and the female CSI immediately flung her arms around her boyfriend's neck, being careful of the cuts.
"Oh God, Greg, I'm sorry" she sobbed "I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean any of the things I said. I love you, I love you with all my heart and I will always love you."
"It's okay Morgan, you don't have to try and spare my feelings" Greg said.
He was shaking and tears were streaming down his own face. It was getting hard for him to breath and he was feeling really, really tired.
"I've always known I don't deserve you…" he added.
"No, no I don't deserve you" Morgan said adamantly as she cupped Greg's cheeks with her hands "I don't blame you if you don't ever want to see me again after the horrible things I said. You're kind, Greg, you're loving… of course I didn't mean anything of what I said"
"Get…out of here" Was Greg's only response. His breathing was laboured and Morgan could see he was struggling to keep his eyes open. "Y-you need…escape…before he w-wakes up"
"I'm not going anywhere" Morgan said firmly "You need me. I'm going to search their pockets for a phone and then I'm calling for backup and an ambulance"
As Morgan did so, Greg found he didn't even have the energy to sit up anymore as he slowly lowered himself onto his side and breathed harshly. He'd lost a hell of a lot of blood and the numerous hits to the head weren't helping either. After Morgan had called for help, she returned to Greg's side, resting his head in her lap and stroking his hair gently.
"Just hang on, baby" she pleaded "help's on the way"
"'M sorry I'm such a pain…such a freak" Greg mumbled as he closed his eyes.
"No, you're neither of those things, baby" Morgan tried to reassure him. There were still tears in her eyes as she watched him filled with pain and her own self-loathing.
"I am…I c-can't live without you, Morgan" Greg said truly.
"You don't have to" Morgan said firmly "Please just keep fighting Greg, don't give up on me. I can't lose you"
"D-did you really n-not mean what you s-said?" Greg asked.
"Greg, I don't hate those things about you, I love them about you" Morgan said "I love that you protect me because you're so caring and thoughtful. I probably wouldn't still be here in once piece if you hadn't protected me today" she explained.
"I love that you want to talk to me all the time and ask me about my day. Listening to you talk after a hard shift takes my mind off things and your voice is one of the sweetest sounds to me. And as for your scars, I think they're pretty damn sexy" Morgan smiled and she swore she saw Greg did too "They show how strong you are, how you're a survivor…so you have to survive now"
Greg smiled up at Morgan, opening his glassy eyes "I love you so much" he said.
"I love you too" Morgan whispered, and planted a delicate kiss on his lips. "Hey, I'll make you an offer; if you promise to fight through this for me…then we'll get married, deal?"
Greg smiled "Is this you proposing to me?"
Morgan smiled back "Kinda"
"Deal" Greg whispered, but then his eyes closed once more.
"Greg?" Morgan said fearfully as she realised her boyfriend had become unresponsive. "Greg? Baby wake up, oh God please wake up" she began to sob loudly as she placed her forehead gently on Greg's.
Minutes later, and the medics arrived along with Russell and Nick. Morgan just cried in protest when the medics tried to move her away from Greg, so eventually Nick had to gently pull her away, but Morgan felt safe in her older brother's strong arms as she wept into his shoulder. Nick and Russell just stared at Greg, disbelieving that this had happened. They just prayed that Greg would hang on.
An hour later, and all Greg's cuts had been cleaned and bandaged. The morphine coursing through his body has made the CSI tired and so he was still in a deep sleep as Morgan sat by his side, with her knees pulled up into her chest as she took hold of her boyfriend's hand in her own trembling one. Morgan had been checked over too due to Russell's instance, but luckily she'd been given the all clear, she was just very shaken.
Nick had stayed at the house to wait for Sara and then they would process the scene together; although the Texan could hardly hide his pleasure at learning Greg had been the one to personally attack the hostage takers. Russell had come to the hospital with Greg and Morgan, and after checking they were okay, he went to the room of the man who Greg had knocked unconscious and found himself uncharacteristically hoping that the man was in a lot of pain.
"Greg…I don't know if you can hear me, b-but I need you to wake up now" Morgan said quietly. "I know you probably don't want to…but there's nothing to be scared of now…not that I thought you were scared, the way you kicked those guys asses" she smiled "You saved us…you're my hero, baby"
"I'm never going to let you forget you said that" A quiet voice spoke from the bed, and Morgan's face lit up to see Greg's tired eyes looking back at her, a small smile on his face. "There's my beautiful fiancée"
Morgan laughed "Yeah…sorry I didn't have a ring or get down on one knee or anything…it was kind of a spare of the moment thing" she teased.
"But you did mean it, right?" Greg asked a little worried.
"Yes, of course I did" Morgan said stroking his hair "I want to marry you, Greg… I love you so damn much"
"Good, I love you too. And don't worry; I'll sort you out a proper proposal" Greg said with a grin, and Morgan leaned down to kiss him.
They were glad they could now start to put the dark ordeal behind them, and start to look towards their bright future together.
